Tess consults with their brother, John, without Michael’s knowledge. Do you think she did the right thing?

Tess saw something in Michael's reactions to Rowan that concerned her. She was right to contact John, after all this is his security company and his reputation.

[Charlene]

I agree, but I wasn't sure at the time that she wasn't overreacting. As the story continued, I could see why.

[Jonetta]

Tess has great instincts and realized Michael was already moving into “white knight” mode. I wasn’t sure at that moment if she was doing the right thing but it didn’t take me long to understand that she absolutely was.

I thought Tess should have displayed more faith in Michael based on what we knew at that point in the book. It was later when we were clued into the actual problematic situations Michael tended to create and then I had an A-ha moment seeing why Tess called John.
