Like a Challenge?

Okay people, so while we are all reading to our hearts content, contemplate the following...
Do women outnumber men in this challenge? If so why, if not then are you surprised?
Does Genre make a difference in the number of books the sexes read? Romance vs Bio or history?
Finally, the idea is to get people to read thus we have a "challenge" rather than a "competition"...are we all okay with this? READ ON FRIENDS

I'm not sure why there are differences but the men I know seem to either only read magazines/nonfiction/technical stuff or aren't readers at all. I think women do become readers more easily but I have a lot of female friends who aren't particularly readers — they seem to go to movies and watch TV these days. For myself, I'd rather read the book and hear the author's words in my head, rather than an interpretation by someone else.

And you will never see Jasper Fforde's books done justice on TV or the screen! You have to just experience his work.
