Well, Brom was an artist long and long before authorship...the illustrations would be spectacular, though, yes, his work is dark.
Tangential -- Janny, since I've been a fan of yours since 1993, I'm going to have to take a brief moment to fangirl squee. There, I'm done and can go back to rational adult behavior now. Thank you for your indulgence. ;-)
I've gotten a head start on To Ride Hell's Chasm. I'm glad it's a rainy day today. I'm about halfway through & don't want to do anything when I get home but read it. Very exciting & tense. It's terrible that life (work, wife, kids) keep interrupting me.

Oh yeah, this book is a keeper! Very satisfied with it.

Hi Camille - I am all for insanely loud noises, do feel free to message me before deafening the forum. (grin). I hope you might be present to add your two cents for the coming discussion next month.
Hi! I'm reading Julian Comstock: A Story of 22nd-Century America by Robert Charles Wilson. Wow, what a good story! I think this would be a good one to be BOTM sometime. Next up after Julian Comstock: To Ride Hell's Chasm . Later!
Finished Heroes Die yesterday and started Imager The First Book of the Imager Portfolio, which I'm enjoying quite a bit.

Julian Comstock is the single best SF novel I've read all year. Absolutely brilliant. The only reason I haven't nominated it yet is because there's no paperback yet.
And you're in for a treat with To Ride Hell's Chasm!

Reading The Mediterranean CaperNot sure that I am liking this that much. The main character just slapped a women he just met cause she was missing her dead husband who died 8 years past. Kinda dated. I realize it was written a long time ago but man. Anyway will read on
Well I read on, a whole page and it went downhill fast. After the Slap the characters had sex (almost rape IMHO)and she actually thanked him for it. I tossed the book, I couldn't take it, I am one for noting the time periods and allowing slack but this was awful.
Reading The Forever WarWhile this one is a tiny bit dated (more like wishfull thinking) I amd liking it so far
I just finished reading The Ships of Merior by Janny Wurts. It was excellent. Now I have to read The Very Best of Fantasy & Science Fiction Sixtieth Anniversary Anthology for a review - if not, I'd be diving straight into Warhost of Vastmark.
