Phoenix
The rarest creature of all, and the most special. Even the Rakshasa respect them and never eat them. The Kings each have one and the Queens do, but the others fly free all over. An unburned phoenix feather is a really rare thing, and you are considered blessed if you find one. When they die, their body burns and a new phoenix is born of the ashes. In the flames they create when dying you can catch glimpses of the future. And it's said if you kill one you'll see your own death. No matter what you do, it's unavoidable. Your luck and life gets worse and worse the longer you try to escape it. A phoenix only gets hurt by fire or heat at all when they do their Death Song. They sing in their last moments in this life before they light themselves on fire and are reborn. They are varying looks, running red to gold, but they all have little flickers of flame in their feathers. Generally the size of a trumpeter swan, with a large wingspan of about 7 feet and a height of four-five feet.

After they sing their Death Song, they are reborn like this. But within a day they are young adults (just smaller versions of adults) and can already fly.

Other:
The Rakshasa frequently use the large predators (Lions, Tigers, bears, etc) as hunting companions and pets. The Bodha have the actual pets, as well as many of the predatory birds. Both have dragons, and the Kings each have a phoenix as well as the Queens.
