It's a shame :(

I know this is so with Photobucket images. Once I use Photobucket as the vehicle to capture an image, and then bring over to YLTO!, I go back to Photobucket and delete it from my library there. It no longer exists in Photobucket, but stays permanently on my Goodreads page.
I accidentally noticed this when Photobucket announced eliminating non-paying members, charging x number of dollars for storage. I moved many of my images off, and then found that ones used long ago are still appearing in Goodreads. ( Like all of those Toppler images that I used to post.)
So if you are noticing that your favorite badge site images are still appearing on Goodreads, even though they say that they are shut down, you may be experiencing what I noticed some timer ago.
If you have images out there that have not been downloaded to Goodreads, those are the ones you want to be sure to host somewhere else.
As I have said, I've never verified the truth of this.
I just believe in the magic of it!

Actually, if you click on a toppler badge (which should normally bring you to that badge but on tinypyc) it brings you to the tinypic site saying they're shutting down. I guess that could mean that the pics are indeed hosted on GR servers.

"August 29, 2019 - hosted images will no longer be viewable on 3rd party websites. Because we are an anonymous hosting site and therefore cannot provide notice by e-mail to our users, we have opted to replace all hosted images with a temporary message directing them to this notice."
I figured we were a third party site and started to worry. It does make sense that GR hosts the pics now. Phew!
I used to use photobucket, but then they started to have too many issues with popups, etc that the site became almost unusable and now you need to have an account with them. Tinypic recommended using photobucket when they closed because they are related somehow, sister companies I think.

It is my belief that the link will no longer work, but your image will remain where you have placed it.

They still are virtually unusable with all the pop-ups. I still use them but I sneak in at non-peak times, upload my image, download it to Goodreads, then immediately delete it at Photobucket!. In and out lickety-split!

Be sure your picture has arrived successfully before you do this. (maybe refresh your page first.)
The whole string that redirects to your source can be eliminated. This will set loose valuable character space in your message window.
So what you usually see is:
< (and) a href="http: "yada yada yada........>
AND THEN JUST AFTER THAT:
< (and) img src="https " same yada yada yada...../>
Erase the "< (and) a href" string. keep the "< (and) img src" string.
Ta Da! Image is still there.
