Gerald Miller | 821 comments Just want to wish Ann,Michael Linda and all the BOTN listeners a HAPPY 300TH PODCAST! I was just looking for book related podcast and BOTNS showed up and what a discovery! It is one of the very few podcasts that I listen to every week and what a joy. Thanks for this very special podcast.

message 2: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I also thank Ann and Michael for a wonderful podcast - I look forward to it each week and listen that very night.
I think the new segment, books not to forget, is a great idea. I'm excited about The Alienist and expect to be introduced to many books I've missed - without the long wait at the library.
Thanks again.

Maggie | 32 comments I stumbled upon the BOTN podcast this past February and have enjoyed listening very week along with catching up on old episodes. I just recently browsed through my reading journal and was amazed at the variety and quality of books I have read this year and it is a direct result of Michael and Ann's recommendations. Thank you and Happy 300th!

Bob W | 1 comments I've been listening to the BOTN podcast for a while now. Ann's recommendation re Shot in the Heart prompted me to join this group.I totally agree - one of my favorite books too - read it when it came out

Mary | 57 comments I would like to add my congratulations to Ann and Michael for their 300th episode. I can't remember how I heard about BOTN bu I loved it from the beginning. I also think the segment "old" books will be great.
I will greatly miss Booktopia (Hopefully, this time I can go to Petosky) but understand how much time it takes.
Thanks, so much to both of you!

Victoria (vicki_c) | 367 comments Congratulations from me as well - the podcast has definitely enhanced my life in some nice way. I had to cancel my Booktopia Vermont reservation the first or second year and haven't been able to try again due to holiday vacation schedules (Booktopia VT is always very close to our family's Easter vacation). BUT ... in 2015, it's in May - yippee! But now, can I possibly get a reservation now that's is become SO popular AND the last one? Oh, stress.

Coleen (coleena312) | 23 comments Congratulations on your 300th episode! I've listened to every podcast...and some of them twice! I love your new segment with not so new books! I remember reading The Alienist and loving it. Thanks for the time and dedication you put into every podcast!!!

Winter (wren99) | 2 comments Congratulations on your 300th podcast! I started listening early this year and I look forward to listening each week. I usually save your podcast for my Saturday morning grocery shopping. Makes me look forward to it! You recommended The Alienist and I have it sitting on my bookshelf from years ago. Just never seemed to get around to it. I'm going to dig it out again and give it a try! Thanks for being the best book podcast around. I listen to another, but I enjoy yours so much more. You say things both good and negative without being preachy or judgmental. I totally respect your opinions. Here's to another 300!

Jillian | 42 comments Congratulations to my favorite podcast! I recommend it to all my family and friends! :) You have enriched my reading life greatly!

message 11: by Adore (new)

Adore i love this podcast! it's so relaxing and informative. i've listened to older episodes many times and they haven't lost that new car smell! i especially like to revisit past end of the year reading roundup shows for gift ideas or to compare my favorites to ann's and michael's. also, my publishing vocab has improved --i'm learning fun and unfamiliar terms like "french flaps" and "front matter". :)

i concur with others about the new segment featuring older titles. i tend to buy lots of used books that are not published in the current year. i hope to go on a treasure hunt with some podcast recs in mind.

congrats!

Barbara Kluver (barbinsanramon) | 6 comments I love BOTN! I look forward to each and every episode. My "to-read" list is way too long because of the great recommendations I get from BOTN. Ann Kingman - it's time for you to read Lonesome Dove and tell us what you think of it (it's on my list of the 10 greatest books I've read in my life).

Cindy (cindyfried) | 2 comments Just caught up with this episode. The older books segment is a great idea. Who hasn't got a few must-reads that have slipped down the pile? I also expect to hear you discussing books I have read but semi-forgotten - bliss!

Amy (amybf) | 144 comments Loved the inclusion of "The Alienist" in the new segment. I have a soft spot for that book -- I was reading it when I was pregnant with my youngest son. My husband and I were having a hard time coming up with a baby name we both liked. Every time I picked up the book, I would look at the author's name (Caleb Carr) on the cover and think, "I really like the way that looks and sounds."

Long story short ... my son Caleb will celebrate his 18th birthday in January. :)

Many of the people I know are very bookish when it came to naming our kids! A friend of mine has two daughters: Laura is named after Laura Ingalls Wilder and Anna is named after the main character in the "Anne of Green Gables" series. Another friend named her son Eric because she loved the picture books by Eric Carle. My brother and his wife named their daughter Madeline because the children's books by Ludwig Bemelman were a favorite of my sister-in-law. And as mentioned, my youngest son is named after author Caleb Carr.

For me at least, naming MY child after an author was payback for being named after a character on a soap opera. Yes. My mother named me after her favorite character on "The Secret Storm," which aired in the '60s.

Melissa | 279 comments Happy 300th! I've been listening from the beginning, and I love to revisit podcasts. I had one of the best weekends of my life at Booktopia Petoskey. Thank you so much!

Victoria (vicki_c) | 367 comments I know this thread has died out, but it seemed the most appropriate place to post my...

THANK YOU!

Not only to Ann and Michael for bringing us all together but for the amazing group of smart people that have chosen the BOTNS Goodreads group as a literary home on the web. I can always come here and find great recommendations, smart conversations, sometimes polite but heated debates and more. But the key word is SMART.

The trigger for this grateful realization was reading the first page of comments in the new GR blog post "What will be the It Book for 2014?" Please take a peek at that and then you will feel even more appreciative of this wonderful group.

So thank you all.
