ABANDONED. YA - time travel OR interdimensional travel with using underground portals

Male and female teenage protagonists. One accidentally falls into modern the modern world from a medieval era/world (knights, kings, queens, etc.). The first thing they note upon entering the modern world is an amusement park. They don't know what it is and think it is a torture area as they can hear the screams from far away. In the modern world, the modern protagonist and their family help the medieval protagonist adjust.

The medieval protagonist lives mostly underground in their own world/time. There is also a fountain underground that is important to their people.

I believe it is the first book in a series and there is probably romance. I read this book around 2008.
