Conduct an imaginary interview with one of the main characters from your independent reading book. Pretend that you are a social worker or psychiatrist and are having an in depth conversation with your character about their life, and the issues struggles that they are going through. Try to create interesting questions for them to respond to, and write what they would say in a way that truly sounds like their voice.

Interviewer: Hello Beatrice I am Nasim and I will be your interviewer tonight and I was just wondering why did you pick Dauntless and why do they have to choose teenagers to be in a group .
Character: Well to start off the interview I will answer your first question . I picked Dauntless because I wanted to learn how to show no fear . I don't know why the people of my town pick teenagers to be in groups and I really don't like that . I hope on day this can end and people can choose their own faith.
Interviewer: I see , if I were in your shoes I might feel the same way about this and I might really want to fight for my rights to choose my own path in life. do you ever want to make friends in the group of the dauntless , and where did you meet him/her. Is this some kind of ritual that people have to do.
Character : Yes , I try to make friends in Dauntless and I did make a friend and her name was Tris . We met on the train we jumped off of.
Interviewer: Wait did you say jumped off a train?
Character: Yes I did say jumped off a train . I actually think that having to pick your group was a ritual that people had to do.
Interviewer: weren't you scared when you jumped off . That must've be scary to you. I know I would be . You must have felt some emotion when you jumped off. How did you feel when you left your family.
Character: I felt sad when I had to leave my family It was kind of scary when I jumped off the train ,but I was caught. No harm done. That's good to know and I hope we have another interview together
Interviewer:That's good to know and I hope we have another interview together. This was fun . Don't you think so too.
Character: Yeah we should, I hope I get to see you again someday.
interviewer: well I think that will be very soon I will keep thinking about how your life has gone in your story DIVERGENT

character: I do not know if I will say in the book that longer because I might be made into the movies and so , far I am having the best day ever .
interviewer:And why is it that .
Character : Because I have not seen anyone in my life die and if that ever happened while I'm in Dauntless then I will be coming for more than freedom . I WILL BE COMING FOR BLOOD.
Interviewer :I see and you actually make me want to do Dauntless and I want to save my family if I were in your city and I was going through these problems I would want to fight for my families right to live and the people who started this whole group thing I would hope to kill all those who up hold this law they would need to go to jail .\
character : Dude take it easy you know that you are not gonna be in my city any time sooner .
Interviewer : Your probably right I mean what was I thinking me going to your city . Oh and another question is what is Divergent ?
Character : Divergent is a person that does not listen to anybody.
Interviewer :well maybe I could be a Divergent one day.

Host: On today’s show is Deshawn the main character in the book “If I Grow up”. So let us welcome Mr. Deshawn.

Host: Hello Deshawn! Without wasting time let us go straight onto the day’s business. In the book I was wondering why you said, "Terrell and I are brothers and we will watch each other’s backs". Why did you say that?
Deshawn: Terrell and I were yearlong friends, very devoted to each other’s welfare and as such one will do anything to save the other.
Host: You had tasted poverty for some years, how did you feel living poor for half of your life?
Deshawn: I feel very uncomfortable talking about those years. The period when one meal a day was very difficult to get, that I believe even the government think that no human being lived in Frederick Douglass and failed to bring improvement in the lives of the people.
Host: Why did you join the gang?
Deshawn: I joined the gang because there was no way out if I am to survive. We run out of food and money, and the only way to overcome this basic problem was to be a gang member, so I joined to be able to get food and money.
Host: When Marcus was alive why you did not try to bring the two gangs together?
Deshawn: It was because at that time no group trusted the other and one was not allowed to communicate or come into contact with any member of the other gang. Shootings and instant justice was the order of the day, so it was unthinkable for anyone to talk about unity.
Host: Why didn’t you go to stop Jamar when you heard him shooting Marcus?
Deshawn: It was because if I had gone out Jamar would have killed me for he was very good with the use of the gun.
Host: When Terrell killed Jamar why didn’t you tell the other disciples?
Deshawn: If I had told them they would have killed my best friend and also killed me. So I told him to run away, however, I later told them who Jamar’s killer was. I explained to them that Jamar also deserved to die because he killed someone who was like a father to me.
Host: When you brought the gangs together did you have in mind whether any member would betray you?
Deshawn: No.
Host: Why did you kill Rance?
Deshawn: I got to know that he, killed my brother-in-law my older sister’s husband and had planned to kill my brother-in-law, my girlfriend’s brother (the girl who is carrying my child) and one time he even wanted to kill her.
Host: You went to jail for killing Rance, did you regret killing him?
Deshawn: No, I didn’t.
Host: How did you feel when you could not see your son, Simon grow up?
Deshawn: It was an unfortunate situation. I could not play with him nor see him play. Apart from that they (my family) could not come to see me because the jail was far from where they lived, but they wrote letters to me. Someone also wrote a letter to me and that person happened to be my best friend Terrell. He was in Georgia and he did not know what was happening here.
Host: Deshawn, Thank you for coming on the show to talk about your life. Thank you and see you next time on “The Goodreads Show”.

Interviewer: I know you been going through tough times these pass few weeks . For example finding out your " Best friend " lied to you about being white and she's actually colored . How do you feel about that ?

Marlee : Well am not going to say much , But i haven't herd her part of the story so there's no way to feel .

Interviewer: okay ... So tell me how did you feel when you found out she was colored ?

Marlee : Well when i first met her the last thing i thought was that she was going to be colored . I mean i have nothing against colored people but i rather stay away from them , But now that i met Liz she opened my eyes and i realized colored people are just like everyone else.

Interviewer: Thats interesting well i think she deserved to be sent away from the school she should have never lied .

Marlee: DONT SAY THAT !!!! she has her reasons and i well appreciate if we stop talking about her .

Interviewer: Whatever you say Marlee , But tell me do you miss you sister know that your parents sent her away to her grandmas house ?
Marlee : yes i do miss her

Interviewer : Wow ! why would your parents do that ? knowing that you are really close to her and you recently lost your friend ? Do you think your parents did this on purpose ?

Marlee: My parents did this for her own good all the high schools are closed around here and she had missed a month already . No my parents did not do this on purpose .

Interviewer: Dont you feel lonely with no friends and now no sister ?
Marlee: No am okay . I missed them but ill be okay .

Interviewer: Well tell me about that boy you have a crush on . A little bird told me he's been turning in all his math homework but you complete it for him ... Don't you think his using you ? We all know you are a very good math student ! i think you should open your eyes now he don't like you his just using you !!!

Marlee : You want to know what i think ? i think your getting to personal !! and you don't know if he likes me or not and if i give him my math homework its because i choose you .

Interviewer : Aww Marlee theres no need to get upset now it was just a question , Before you go one last question tell me about Sally McDaniels don't you think she is a little stuck up ?

Marlee : Yes she can be a little stuck up but thats her . Thank you for you time Emily

Amari: Not good.I need you help!(sobbing quietly while looking around nervously.) I will been sold! A human being who is supposed to have freedom we are being sold. Serving as a maid by day and will be used by night!

Amari: I was stolen from my village I had to watch all of my family die! I am in a state where I am waiting for the next bad thing to happen.

Amari: What?! I need help! This women needs help! All of these people NEED help! No I don't know her name! All I know is that she was the first and only person that was there for me!
Host: I'm sorry we just need the information to see whats really going on. i'm a social worker; Its my job. How did they go about in taking you; what did they do?
Amari: They killed the leader first, (sobbing uncontrollably)our leader, then just started killing everybody! We invited them in, we were so welcoming it still confuses me! Then they killed my family. They were so brutal. Then they took the younger women and teens and they put shackles on our necks,and ankles. They hurt us physically and mentally! Just when I thought it couldn't get worse they through us in cells and then I learned what would happen to me and the rest of the women!
Host: Are you completely sure this is their intention?
Amari: THEY KILLED ALL OF MY FAMILY! WE WERE NOTHING BUT WELCOMING! YEEEESSSS!! THIS WAS THEIR INTENTION! THEY WANT TO SELL ME AND MANY OTHER INNOCENT GIRLS, AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO ASK ME A QUESTION LIKE THAT?! QUESTIONS LIKE THAT?!!!!
(Silence.....)

Amari: The only reason I agreed,(still sobbing) to do this interview was because i thought you could save me! I NEED help! PLEASE HELP US!!! (sobbing and clinging the host.)

Interviewer: what lessons did you learn through this obstacles?
Character: I learn that judgments based on appearances are not always correct. This lesson is related to the theme of growing up, since learning to avoid judging on appearances alone is part of maturing.

me:how did you feel when you first met jace?
clary:I felt a type of connection between us but I never got the reason why I felt the way I felt that certain way about him.
me:when you were talking to your mom why didn't tell jace wahat was happening if he wanted to help you?
clary:because I had just met him and I wasn't going to invole a boy I just met into my business.
me:why do you think that Alec told you to stay away from jace?
clary:well to be honest I thought that he was very close to jace and maybe he thought that I was going to steal him away but then I started to notice nad analyze everything and I got the idea that Alec might be interested in jace in other words that he liked him.
me:when you found out that Valentine was your father how did you feel?
clary:i felt really bad and because I was related to this monster who didn't care about anything.
me:how did you feel about the fact that you and jace were related/brother and sisters?
clary:i felt horrible because I had fallen in love with my brother and when I found out I was in shock how did I have a brother nad my mother never thought to tell me.
me:when you found your mother how did you feel were you able to accept her apology?
clary:i felt this relief I finally found my mother when I thought that I had lost the most amazing thing/person in my life.yes I was able to accept my mother's apology because I understand the reason why she did what she did.she did to keep me safe to keep us safe so that wouldn't find out all of her life and what she did before I don't judge her for that cause that's something I would do as well.

Me: So I hear you like baseball. What do you like about it?
Josh: Well I like the privilege to meet new friends like my mom wanted me to.

Josh: Well honestly it helps me get out the house and its really fun.
Me: I see... So how is it like so far living with Aunt Ethel?
Josh: WHEW where do I start... Oh my first day I get into a car that was built before seat belts were invented with a maniac at the drivers seat, I witnessed a gun shot right before my eyes.
Me: WAIT What! What happened?
Josh: Well my Aunt is terrified of bats and well she shot the one that was in her house.
Me: Wow. Did you hear a whistling sound after the gun fired?
Josh nods
Me: I see... Anything else?
Josh well I met Aunt Florence the peacock. If your wondering Aunt Ethel thinks that after her sister died she turned into a peacock.
Me: She sounds crazy.
Josh: RIGHT!
Me: Anything else?
Josh: Well I found this od tree house that Aunt Ethel used to go to when she was a kid, before she thought it was hunted. Also I saw a deer and met this stray cat that was starving so I fed him some cheese.
Me: That's nice.
Josh: Then Aunt Ethel said I cant feed him no more and we had argument which ended with a sad story. So then I found a bike and went for a ride through town.
Me: Wow that's rough. So that's all the time we got so I will like to hear from you soon.
Me and josh smile at each other.
Josh: Okay see you soon.
Josh walks out the room.

Jordan: I heard you went to summer camp.Did you enjoy it?
Rafe: Yes my mom sent me to summer camp to help me make friends.
Jordan: Did you make any friends at summer camp?
Rafe: Yes I made a few friends.
Jordan: Did you joke around with them?
Rafe: Yes and I found out they like to joke around too.
Jordan: What are some of the things you did together at camp?
Rafe: We talked and laughed. We went on trips and told jokes to each other.
Jordan: How does that make you feel now?
Rafe: It makes me feel special because I have trouble making friends. Going to summer camp helped me find friends like myself. Friends that like to break the rules!
Jordan: Rules? You like to break the rules?
Rafe: Yes rules like not being allowed to talk in the hallway or only being able to use the bathroom 2 times a day. I think these are dumb rules. My classmates follow the rules.
Jordan: Do you think you will be able to make friends now?
Rafe: I think I will be able to make friends with kids that think like me. Kids that like to break dumb rules!
Jordan: Well Rafe , It was nice talking to you.
Rafe: Thanks for listening to me, Jordan.

Me: Ok my first question is how do you put up with being the son of Poseidon?
Percy: I think it is kind of hard being the son of Poseidon but I think it is pretty great being able to control water.
Me: Don't you think that being a demi-god effects your life?
Percy: That is a good question Eduwin and it actually does because I am a demi-god I have dyslexia and ADHD. But this always help me in battle.
Me: I am gonna ask you more questions after this break (applause).

Percy: That is a hard question but I know who I will choose, I will choose both by saving both of them.

Hannah: Hmm. I am not sure but during that time I was in alot of pain and so my mind wanted me to end the pain quickly. Suicide was the fastest way to end it all so I just went with it.
me : what a shocker, clay here is your question. if you would of seen all of the pain Hannah had to take after you would you stop it so she wouldn't have commited suicide.
Clay: yes. because she had gone through alot of pain due to us so I would want to end it all so that she didn't have to experience any more pain.
me : sweet and honest, Hannah what is your response, which is also your next question.
Hannah: I think that he would be pretty nice and sweet to go through all that pain for me.
Me: Clay here is your question, if you could go back in time and fix one of her problems so that she would've never experienced it which would it be.
Clay: I would fix the problem that she had with me so that we could be friends and that we could fix the broken friendships she had and stop the other problems so that she would not have an excuse for committing suicide.
me: Hannah, last question. With all the time that you have been in the upper world have you been able to forgive anyone, everyone,nobody,or at least just clay because of this interview. If you are the in the rest of the thirteen I would stay and listen to this and recieve your answer.
Hannah: I would forgive everybody because even though they had hurt me they have their own opinions that they think are right so this is my answer for your question.

Psychiatric: How did you react to this ?.

Margaret: I ran thinking the story was true and I regret ever running to my house that day.

Psychiatric: Do you ever miss your brother since he is overseas.

Margaret: Sometimes I think about him and the jokes we use to share I just wish that when he returns I'll still be here waiting for him.

Psychiatric: Was there ever a time where you felt unsecure in your house ?.

Margaret: One time I thought that the crazy guy from Gordy's dume story was staring at me from my window and then I realized I was delusional.

Psychiatric: Did somebody save your life once ?.

Margaret: My friend Elizabeth saved me from Gordy when she went in front of me and confronted Gordy herself.

Clary: well at first I though that people were lying to me. I though that all this was a joke but, as time went on I realized that thus was more real than anything that had happened before in my life.

Host: I see, now what are your feelings towards your mother after she lied to you like that?
Clary: well the thing is that she did this to protect me. And I really don't like like to talk about my mom right now.

Host: that's all right. How about you tell us a little bit about jace. I heard that you and him had something going on even though you two are sibling.
Clary: well it seems that you like to get really personal? Huh? All I can say is that he is a really great guy.

Host: that's all right. How do you feel about your father? Valentine?
Clary: I don't think of him as my dad. I think of him more like a monster who has ruined almost everyone's life's.

Daniel: The funniest thing in the book was when a kid that weighs no more than 90 pounds tilt the car.

Tally:Umm,I didn't really have a first impression.I was just scared because she came out of nowhere.

Host:Hello there and welcome, today we shall be interviewing a boy of war known to be named as Charley King!
Charley:Hello
Host: OK, so as I've heard before, you are a 12 year old boy who fought the American Civil War as a drummer boy?
Charley: Why yes I am.
Host: Alright lets ask some questions, get ready cause your up for some surprises.
Charley: (chuckles) alright i'm ready.
Host: So how has it been during the four years of fighting and action?
Charley: It's been hard for me, I had many sufferings of seeing close friends die and it was difficult trying to stay out of harm's way.
Host: That sounded hard for you.
Charley: Yeah it was difficult...I even took a bullet in the leg (laughs)
(audience laughs)
Host: Nice one. But lets get back, How did you enter the war in the first place?
Charley: Well first of me and my grandfather loved to drum and would always march across town drumming, until one of the Union troops saw me and said "Your good at drumming there 'son, how 'bout you join us for the army, we promise to keep you safe". so I said yes.
Host: Alright then, next question. Have the people you've met been good or cruel to you when you joined the army?
Charley: Both, when I first joined the army, people looked at me like a freak, then I saw my group of drummer boys, there names where Frank, Hans, Patrick and Jamie. Frank was mean and called me names, the others were nice though. But now they are mostly good because now we are starting to know each other and becoming friends.
Host: That sounds interesting to me (Laughing)
(everyone laughs)
Host: OK next question, Why did you want to join the war anyway?
Charley: I've seen many people suffering and I kept saying to myself "Wouldn't it be an honor to join the war to help the people that are dying every single day?" So then I decided to wait until I had the chance.
Host: OK I think this should be time left for two more questions.
Charley: OK
Host: How did you feel after joining the war? Did you feel like changing your mind?
Charley: At first I realized that it felt guilty killing people of the same country, but they were the enemy, there was nothing for me to do. But it was great in the Yankees...
Host: Yankees?
Charley: The Union didn't really like the name so they called themselves Yankees.
Host: Oh, for a second there I thought you meant the baseball team!
(everyone laughs)
Charley: Ha-ha yeah. Anyways I really liked it, even though I couldn't see my ma'.
Host: OK last question. What did you find amazing in the war, what did you find sad during the war?
Charley: Well it was amazing during the battles, like the battle of Williamsburg to the seven days battle, I liked starring at the explosions and the smoke of gunfire. But I didn't like the loss of friends and even almost getting killed in the action. At least i'm alive to speak to you about my life.

Chris:After a few days no a few weeks i find out that this person looks very like me,this person looks like a person i will do anything for.So i think about switching my I.D.
Binta:I am a person that works with all types of problems like this and I think you should confiscate the wallet.But before we get there if you wanted to switch bodies would't you know there background.Do you even know if the person that you suppose looks like you has a bad "not good" life.You should think about like have they every been to jail every been in a crime.All those things you should worry about.
Chris:Well this is what everyone says no one really knows how I feel in the inside everyone is just worry about giving back the wallet.In real life I have a lot of downs I am always behind and it seems like my life is just going down the drain I always feel wrong for my actions and mistakes.
Binta:Let me tell you one thing there's nothing better than having mistakes you always feel crazy but at the end you learn within your mistakes and are always at the top of the game because the people around you never had as many rewarded mistakes as you .

Court: To be honest, no. However, there was this guy I dated named Allen. Allen was fine and charming. He was my first boyfriend, and Iloved him. I tthought he loved me, but boy was I wrong. He tried to force himself on me, but he had also admitted he'd started dating me so he could get me to him just for $10. I still miss and love him still. (Crying)

Host: Now Jennifer , my first question would be how did you feel when Max broke up with you.
Jennifer: I felt extremely sad . I mean a week ago we were hanging out and having fun and then he just breaks up with me all of a sudden . I started thinking how can you stop loving someone in one week.
Host: My next question is why did you keep yourself locked up in your room for a long time ?
Jennifer: Well , one reason is because I didn't want to be seen by him because I know the memories of me and him would come back and I didnt want to cry in public. Also , second of all is because if people knew we broke up then I didn't want them pitying me.
Host: What were you thinking when your dad and Jay wanted to pair you up with thia kid Eugene .
Jennifer: I waa completely surprised because I wasnt completely over Max . Also because I didn't even know this dude.
Host: My last question is how did you feel when you found out Max was going out with Anya ?
Jennifer: At first I was sad because he had gotten over me so quickly , but then I thought who cares . If he really loved me he wouldnt get over me in a couple of days . If he wants to date her then let him , but I think theres plenty of fish in the sea.

Macy: Lately I have been spending a lot of time studying, helping my mom with work, or volunteering with Wes. But the reason I'm so focused on controlling every aspect of my world is because my dad died recently, and I'm looking for something safe and sure to grab hold of.

Macy: After meeting Wes, I feel kind of relieved.

Host: Wes?
Macy: Yea. He is someone I met not to long ago.

Host: Can you describe him for us?
Macy: He is an artistic, insightful, and understanding boy.

Macy: After meeting him, my mind feels a bit more at ease.

Host: That's good to know.
Macy: But after my friendship with Wes—and my new found happiness comes alive, my mother comes literally destroys it.

Macy: I dont really know why but Im guessing its to protect me.

Host: Is there something that's bothering your mother that shes acting this way?
Macy: My sister Caroline and I have been working on helping our mom through her grief by helping remodel our dad's old beach house. But nothing we do or say seems to be getting through to her, until (drum roll please) the night of the grand opening gala for the new townhouse my mom's company has been building.

Host: Congrats to your mom for recovering!
Macy: Yep. Its a relief she's doing somewhat okay right now.

Me: Hello matt. Today we are here to discuss your tragic, yet upbringing life story.

Matt: Of course. What questions do you have?

Me: Well I would like to ask what were the feelings or emotions you felt rushing through you when you escaped Opium? I bet it was hard considering El patron's death just days before.

Matt: *Takes a deep breath.* Honestly it was all such a blur. Emotions were rushing through me faster than water through river rapids. I didn't know what to do. There was this one point at the top of the mountain where i took out the binoculars that tim lin gave me and took a look at Opium. The sight of the poppy fields gave me time to think and it brought all my worries and memories back. Celia trapped as a slave and much more. For some reason i cried for El Patron. This shocked me due to the fact that he treated me terribly during his last moments of life.

Me: Wow. During his last moments of life what made you tink so wrong of him?

Matt: Well it was the moment that i realized that i have been raised, that i have been educated and cared for... Just for El Patron to use me as his personal organ donor since he was about to die of hear failure. I was devestated. I was enraged to say the least.

Me: Well matt, I have time for about one more question here. How are things with Maria? *smiles*

Matt: *blushes* well after crossing the border to Aztlan I followed Tam lins instructions and found my way to maria's school. She helped me stay on the down low and when we were finally old enough we found a home and moved in together. You know, i still loe her even after all these years.

Me: aww thats so heart-warming but sadly we have run out of time today for this interview. Thank you for being here Matt.

Interviewer: how do you feel about passing your destination?
Gylfie: I feel bad about that and shocked.
Interviewer: Do You Think it was your fault?
Gylife: Not really after what the Puffins told us.
All three owls and Ms.P continue their journey.

Inteviewer : Welcome Tally it's very nice to see you in person and I have some questions to ask you tonight ......

Tally : well lm ready lets go !

Inteviewer: so how was life while living in "Uglyville" ?

Tally : Well life in Uglyville wasn't so good for me . We were always picked on how we were ugly by the pretties and they always had go better stuff than us and had parties. On the other hand the Uglies didn't have none of that it was completely boring .

Inteviewer: how did you feel when Peris wasn't with you any more and he turned into one of the pretties ?

Tally : It didn't feel good at all I felt like I lost my best friend and I was really sad about this . we shared many great moments together and called each other nickname but now were separated .

Tally starts to cry a little bit ......

Inteviewer : Did you ever wish you had been a Pretty and have the same opportunities they had ?

Tally : Yes , I would have loved to be on pretty town , but it's really not a rush because when you turn sixteen you become pretty and it's almost time for me to turn sixteen , so by then I can have parties and have fun and it also be with Peris and see him.

Last question , Interviewer : When you become pretty will you then make fun of the Uglies or will you not ?


Tally : Well I wouldn't like to so that at all because I know the feeling and I wouldn't like any one else to feel the same pain I used to have and it's impartial to pick on someone you once was .

Interviewer : it was very nice to have a little talk with you Tally and I hope you have good things coming your way , bye !

Tally : thank you so much , it was nice talking with you as well , bye !

Hello thesla. I like your interview but i would like to acknowledge that it is very narrow in terms of a subject which in this case is Jennifers boyfriend Max. I feel like you could have opened up the horizion of topics with jennifer instead of just focusing on the one subject which was her boyfriend. Maybe you could have asked her about what else is happening in her life or if anything exciting or tragic has recently happened. Overall apart from that one thing i feel like you had a good interview with your character. :)

Walter Streeter:Yeah,I ask my friend that she heard any noises and she said "No". I ask myself that's weird?

Host:What happen the next day?
Walter Steeter:I saw this figure of a boy.I was freaking out when I saw the boy right in front of me.The kid was following me everywhere.

Host:What was the ghost name?
Walter Streeter:He name is Harry. He is very nice because he helped me when I was getting something it was falling and he grabbed it.

Host:How was your life?
Walter Streeter:My life feels different since the day Harry wasn't here with me anymore.
