I saw that discussion... and I must say I don't like the whole 'page #'= hours thing. After listening to Outlander- 40+ hours (if I remember)... I'm sorry, but NO WAY NO HOW should that reflect only 40 pages. That's BS.
I don't like it at all either; but I don't see GR making accommodations/changes for audiobook listeners. Wish they would, but my expectations for a change are very low.
My expectations are in the negatives, quite honestly. Yes, it's a free site, and they can run it how they want it and all that jazz... but ever since the review dabaucle, and it becoming GrAmazonreads... *sigh* My reaction to GrAmazon:
I was a bit put off by the reference to the 2009 survey and her dismissive tone. But, I gave my point of view for whatever it's worth.
That's the tone in general these days... and I didn't even want to weigh in on the 'official' thread because it just pisses me off that they have that attitude. The users of the site is what made GR so popular, and what made Amazon want to buy it... now that they've 'cashed-out' it's like they just don't care about us 'little people' anymore.I think my emotional rants wouldn't add in a constructive way
It just make me fume to see a justification based on a 5 year old outdated survey. I joined in March 2009. I certainly did not see or participate in a survey. The audiobook market has boomed since then, but that fact is not in any way acknowledged.

I agree, Melanie. My listening since that year no longer compares, nor does the audiobook industry.

14 hours of listening does NOT equal 14 pages. More like 14 pages is 14 minutes (and less for fast readers). I would also like to see a change in the format and really don't understand how difficult it is to add a field for hours rather than pages.
Lauren, based on Rivka's response, it is ranked as a low priority because of the feedback from that outdated survey.

I doubt it. She responded to my comment rather swiftly. My experience is they wait to see if comments stop so they don't have to address the push back.

Never going to happen."

And don't even get my started on that 'Ugly Green Button' crap
Well, I've put in my two cents over at the thread but I'm not holding my breath that anything will change. The features that we as readers want seem to be taking a back seat to cosmetic changes that the PTB think will result in more books sales.
They can change the location of the updates/discussions tabs but they can't put in an extra field for hours and minutes? *shaking head in disgust*
Heading into the weekend, so PTB probably hope the thread will fall off the first page before Monday.

Oh, how I loathe Elizabeth (Alaska)... personal issue, but she is always smacking others for daring to think different than what GR is doing. How DARE we not like how it's run- even when she agrees, she still can't help but pee all over our suggestions.*end of rant*
Sorry about that

I declared a restraint on myself against this woman about a year ago because she was elevating my blood pressure. Never offers solutions, just likes to shoot down ideas.

I'm not alone! I blocked that *Explitive deleted* earlier this year because each and every comment she makes makes me want to smack her.

Oh I just ignore her. Once she was so rude saying that because she didn't care about my suggestion, no one else should. Back then i still gave a hoot and sent her a pm saying that there was no need to be rude. She ignored me so now I return the favor.

I actually think it's sport for her:)

Lol! There are SO many times I've wanted to write "go away." Such a shame that one person can bring out the worst in us.
I do not put anything into that box. I just this week went back through my books and corrected to the ones I have listened to. There are so many issues with the site, especially the app, that I was just happy they added the audio option. They either want real stats or they don't. I liked this site much more before Amazon took it over. I dislike monopolies.
Add me to the list of audiobook listeners that don't care of putting the hours in the page section. Really, they are still mentioning a 2009 survey? 5 years is like light years in technology.Lately I've taken to pick the print versions and just add the books in my audiobook shelf.
D.G. wrote: "Lately I've taken to pick the print versions and just add the books in my audiobook shelf. "That's what I do. I would rather have the audiobook listed but it is more important to me to have the correct page numbers than that ridiculous 12 hours = 12 pages!

I was curious how members in this group feel about the issue as I deliberately don't want the hours in the page number field since it will distort my reading stats. Maybe I'm just in the minority.
