I just saw The Age of Adaline. It really dragged in spots but overall i enjoyed it. Blake Lively is unbelievably stunning.

Happy Friday everybody! Another hour or so of work and then home to sit under a tree with a good book.
I have about 4 hours of work left and then we will be spending the next three days preparing my in-laws home for my father-in-law's return from a 12 week hospital stay. Oooh fun!Bright side is that we are postponing Mother's Day until May 24 when my Sunday work schedule will cease for the summer, so I get to streeeeeetch it out. :D
Sorobai wrote: "Good morning everyone! Working today and seeing my pile increase..."I'm at work as well, hoping for a slow day but we'll see. Time-and-a-half, so I guess I can't really complain.
I am actually off today and the next couple of days (leave), but I think I will get a lot accomplished. Happy Saturday everyone!
Eheh me too!
I actually went to be early (nineish) but fell asleep almost at 1am. Thanks to my new job I am now unable to sleep that early anymore! But at least I finished my book :)

I'm off work the next two days, but will be learning how to care for my father-in-law at the hospital in anticipation of his coming home. I'm leaving in a few and am very nervous. I am terrified of messing something up and hurting him somehow. O_o
It's good that you are scared, it means you care, but I am sure you will do great! It's natural to miss a few things at first but after practising a bit I am sure everything will go smoothly.
Be brave!

Hi, everyone! I've been missing in action for a few weeks - sorry! I think I needed a break from GR while I worked on some other projects.Kandice, I hope everything goes smoothly for your father-in-law's move back to the house, and I'm sure you will do fine!
I'm behind in my reading, still working on The Darkest Part of the Forest and a short story collection that the author asked me to read. And I'm behind on my reviews....Well, no one is perfect! Wishing everyone a lovely day!

Doing great! The weather here is wonderful today, and I'm just heading off to the living room for my yoga. How is Portugal these days?

I've finally received my new copy of The Sound of One Hand Clapping so I'll finally be able to finish this book! (I hate leaving an unfinished book pending for too long).
Apparently, it's inspired by a famous Zen koan:Two hands clap and there is a sound. What is the sound of one hand? (隻手声あり、その声を聞け)

I have barely started the book before I lost it, so I'm not really sure of the meaning regarding this particular book. I'll hope I'll discover more about this intriguing title further along the book!
Sorobai wrote: "Well, the sound of one hand clapping is the sound when you slap someone in their face!"Ha! Never thought of it that way before.
We've gone from hot and heavy to grey and dreary, but no rain. If it's going to be dark I would rather get the rain we so desperately need.
I finally went and tagged all my read book. I felt that there was getting quite a lot of them and that therefore it was quite a mess. Although now that they are all tagged, I feel like it looks like an even bigger mess. I just can't seem to find the right categories to file everything, and just keep changing everything and making far too much subdivisions...
Yeah I hear ya, I feel like i should have created all sorts of shelves when I first started using GR. I could not understand why people had so many. Now I do. It's very helpful when trying to look books up of specific genres, and even to join in group challenges.
Try to file them in general categories instead. I prefer to use only two or three categories like to-read, read, owned books and ebooks. That suffices me! Good luck!!!
That's how I started, and then I felt it was not enough. It's hard dto find the right middle ground.

I agree. These days I prefer to shelve stuff by genre and also who gave me in case it's a free book, helps me keep track of what I need to read as opposed as what I can read.

Melaslithos wrote: "That's how I started, and then I felt it was not enough. It's hard dto find the right middle ground."Why did you felt it wasn't enough, Melaslithos!? I see you have a cathegory for romance and others for different languages. It seems confusing to me. I prefer to keep it simple. I just imagine it is my shelves home!
Read, unread, wish-list are the books I want to buy, owned are the ones I possess. As I read a lot from libraries and friends there are books I read but don't possess (the other way around is also true lol). There are also books I want to read but don't wish to own.
Then I though to have a separated shelve for ebooks since I don't physically own them. And thats all for me!

I have the same shelves with the exception of ebooks. I just count them like regular books.
I get too confused and feel it’s too much work to try to categorize by genre, etc.
Read, To be Read, Wish List and Recommendations are enough for me. I don’t recommend books in general very often. I may recommend a particular book to a particular person, but few books warrant general recommendation in my opinion. People’s interests are too varied and what appeals to one doesn’t always appeal to another.
Hi all!@Sorobai For my personal use, read/to-read/currently reading is actually enough. But ALL of my friends come to me for book recommendations.
Problem is, I always forget the titles and authors name. I was "There's this book talking about this or that, I think you'll love it, but I forgot the name/author. Let me check it for you." And then I'd spent ages finding the info again. With everything classified by genre/type, it's easier for me to find the right book. Since I remember the story, I can go directly to the right category and I have less books to comb through. Also, they can just go on GR, have a look at my shelves in the genre they like and ask more detailed info on a book they find interesting.
Hmm for me it's more of a personal convenience sort of thing, since I have so many books.
These days, I find myself feeling the need to change genres every now and then, or I will fall into reading slumps more easily.
Instead of going to each book individually, I click on the genre shelf I want and browse through it.

I have actually classified only books on my "read" list, not my to-be-read. I feel that it's very difficult to classify correctly a book if you haven't read it before, especially when sometime, the frontiers between different genres are a bit blurred.
I agree, but I have found that most often than not people have already classified it so it shows up on the book page, or the blurb hints at the genres.
