I agree with you Suzanne, this book is seriously addictive! I am thinking about it even when I am not reading it. I just can't get enough of it! *starts fangirling*

LOL! I agree too, but I am reading too many really good, interesting books all at the same time! Between this one and Voyager - the characters and action are fantastic. I started Hollow City because it has to go back to the Library in two more days and it is great! The Harlan Corben book just reached out and grabbed me by the throat (reading at work - need to go home) and I am dying to get to the end of American Gods. aghhhh

Yep I was like that too!

Sarah | 18550 comments You mentioned Auri in one of your posts Lisa and the new novella that's just come out by PR is all about Auri! I'm desperately waiting for my copy to come in at the library. But you'll needs to read the second book before reading the novella.

I know what you mean about juggling books! I decided to squeeze in a quick book for another challenge, but I need to start reading Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln (which is nearly 1,000 pages of non-fiction!) for my book club. I don't have to read it quickly, but that means I'm trying to read three books at once! And it's hard to pry myself away from The Name of the Wind...

I really like all the mysteries too! I wonder if any of them will actually be solved in this book or if we will have wait until later in the series to get all the answers? My money is on the latter.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have finished! I absolutely loved it! It is one of my favourite books of all time.

Chapters 84- Epilogue - (view spoiler)

I can't wait to read The Wise Man's Fear and find out where the story goes from here! :)

message 68: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments You two have left me behind in the dust!

We had an Internet connection problem at work yesterday and I could get no work done but answer email and tell everyone that the tools were down. The good part was that I got to read quite a bit at work, but I only managed to put Sixth Hour in my purse befor I left home. I finished it last night. Hollow City had to go back to the library, so I am down to TNotW on my Nook and Voyager on audio, and I can catch up with the spoilers.

I am just starting chapter 44 because I could not sleep last night. It is going to be a long day at work - but they got the problems fixed.

message 69: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I hope you have a better day at work today Cherie.

message 70: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1255 comments Sorry, Cherie! I hate when days go like that. I had some work done (by others) in my house today, so I basically sat and read all day since I couldn't really doing anything else. I'm on Chapter 84, but I'm not ready to put it down. It's a cold and windy night and I can't think of anything better than to wrap myself up in a blanket and read some more. Who knows? I may even finish it tonight!

message 71: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1255 comments Yup - Although I was tired, when I would have normally gone to bed, I still had two chapters to go and I just couldn't wait until morning. I finished it.

message 74: by Cherie (last edited Nov 10, 2014 04:44PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I read, and read, and read all day Sunday and finished the last 30 pages this morning. I have not been on-line to read or answer or post spoilers. I really like Bast too and hope we get to know more about him in the next book. Give me a day or two to catch up on your spoilers, ladies and I will post some questions that I have. Whew!

My day on Friday went pretty well, but I was still behind this morning when I got to my desk. Then, I had to do some training for a few hours. I am still playing catch up, but the work is not hard. On top of all of that, I had a dentist appointment this afternoon. My fingers are going to be tired tonight, but I had to get on and update you both that I finished.

message 75: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1255 comments Way to go, Cherie! Glad you were finally able to finish it. Looking forward to reading your comments:)

message 78: by Margy (new)

Margy | 11 comments Read both books in August and loved them, can't wait for the next one. Just finished his newest novella about Auri this week. For those that are interested, it is completely different in style from The Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear. It is short and a little strange but guess Rothfuss has me hooked on this fantasy world!

Erica | 182 comments I'm sorry I've not joined you in your thoughts about the book earlier. I've had lots to do this month so am only at chapter 24. I'm really enjoying this book so far and agree with most of your thoughts about Kvothe. Btw how do you include the "view spoilers" in the text?

message 80: by Lisa (last edited Nov 20, 2014 07:27AM) (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Really glad you are enjoying it too Erica.

To insert a spoiler, type the following without the asterisks *

<*spoiler*>write the text you want to be hidden in here<*/spoiler*>.

That should work. Try checking the preview button before posting to make sure. Just remember not to include the asterisks *. I included them to prevent the whole thing being hidden :)

message 81: by Cherie (last edited Nov 21, 2014 03:37PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hey Lisa and Suzsane - you two free to read the 2nd book? I just bought it and was going to use the buddy read thread from March/May (I cannot remember what month it was) to continue the conversation - as soon as I catch up here.

Hi Erica - I am going to be updating although I finished.

To add spoilers in the conversation check out the (some html is okay) that is just above and to the upper right of the comment box. Scroll down, and it will show you how to add the <"spoiler"> information into the text.<"/spoiler">. Hey - that worked, just take the quotes out.

If you are using a mobile app, you can still type them, but not read what is in them. And you cannot see the add book/author (some html is ok) thingies.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Cherie, I am currently working my way through a 900 page book and I have about 570 pages left to go. I reckon I should get it finished within a week and then I will be free to read The Wise Man's Fear. I can't wait to catch up with Kvothe!

message 83: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Lisa - ha ha! I didn't see your response to Erica before I posted mine. To funny that we both figured how to show the spoiler formats, but with different symbols. I had to edit mine several times to get it right. I'm typing on my tablet in the mobile app from Google. The tablet is very responsive but not like typing on a real keyboard. I need to get online.

message 84: by Cherie (last edited Nov 23, 2014 11:32PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Whew, I finally made it through all of the spoilers from everyone. I am not sure I can go through all of the chapters, although I really am re-reading through most of it. I ended on Chapter 69 (view spoiler)

Some thoughts that struck me as I was going back through. His friendship with Simmon and Wilem. I loved what Denna said about them "Wilem is a stone in deep water. Simmon is like a boy splashing in a brook". Like the older brothers he never had and each has a personality to play off of Kvothe's youth and inexperience and sometimes his recklenesses. They watch out for him and interfear if they feel he really needs it (view spoiler)

re: Auri in Ch 66-69 (view spoiler)

re: Fela(view spoiler)

I need to wrap here for tonight, although I did want to comment on something that Tasha said about Kvothe deserving to be whipped, but I cannot find it now.

message 85: by Canadian Dragon (new)

Canadian Dragon | 1020 comments I was wondering if someone was going to comment on that Cherie, I remember I was trying to convey my feelings of action and consequences. In the book it is by physical force. In our world we have grown past this which is great. Although I still agree there needs to be a consequence for people's actions.

message 86: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Darn, there is nothing I hate worse than trying to go back to previous chapters on my old Nook, or loosing what I already typed in the comment box looking for a previous comment! It is both today.
