While that one is about saints, it doesn't appear that the actual DAY plays a part in it at all, so I don't think that works, sorry. And sorry for the delayed response.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3677 comments So, I read Death Overdue for Option 1, thinking it was a list task - and then saw that EShay had done the same thing as me, with the same book, and it was queried by the Mods.

It does feature Halloween - it even has a Halloween Party. But it isn't in the GR description.

Therefore, the question is, could I use it for either of the cover tasks?
Death Overdue (The Haunted Library Mysteries, #1) by Allison Brook

Can pumpkin balloons, pumpkin cookies or pumpkin-style trick or treat bins count as pumpkins for Option 2? Or failing that, is there enough fall foliage on the tree through the window for Option 3.

And I guess, while I'm at it, I should check that this would work for the other one (I see both fall leaves, and pumpkins)

Be Careful What You Witch For (A Family Fortune Mystery, #2) by Dawn Eastman

Thanks.

So, I think the query from the mods about the first book is just because it isn't mentioned in the description. I think in those cases when you post it you are just supposed to provide evidence of how Halloween features in the story? But that might be a question better directed to the mods.

In any case, I think it would definitely work for option 2 - I didn't specify that the pumpkins had to be real, and while the balloons don't look that much like pumpkins, the one the cat is holding in its paw certainly does, even with the green leaf and stem.

Be Careful What You Witch For definitely works for either leaves in fall colors or pumpkins on the cover!

EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 569 comments Nevermind the below... I didn’t see Trish’s comment or your reply....

Can you approve Death Overdue for Option 1? There is nothing about Halloween in the description but it is an MPG. I cannot find anything else online a “proof” and I can’t help that editors write bad copy >:( It is also on the list of Halloween and Autumn cozy mysteries.

Or will it work for fall colors cover?

It definitely works for pumpkins on the cover, and I see a tree with orange leaves out the window, so it works for fall colors as well. As far as the first option, I think once you read it you can post a quote or something along those lines as your proof that it takes place at Halloween, but I'm not 100% sure about that because I've never had to do that.

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 2062 comments I was planning on this one for option 3, but now I'm wondering if the red is leaves or flowers or berries. What do you think?

Sorry, but those look like flowers to me!

Julia (julia103) | 2720 comments A Vintage Death (Keepsake Cove Mystery, #2) by Mary Ellen Hughes has some floating leaves. Would you consider them fall colors? I know it also has pumpkins, but I had a different book lined up for Option 2.

Julia - Those leaves look yellow to me, so that works!
