Our weather got better, thank God. It was touch and go for us as far as flooding. I was so nervous because our little lake out back overflooded and the water came within inches of our porch steps. In reality, we would have needed a ton more rain for it to actually flood the house, but still. It was a bit nerve wracking. Weather is back to being the usual sunny S. Fla. It's nice this time of year; the extreme heat is finally burning off.

I'm good, EB. How are things your way? Did you son make a final decision as far as his surgery goes? I know the number of Covid cases is on a continual rise which is affecting hospitalizations and elective procedures in a number of areas. It's crazy actually. The news about the vaccine is encouraging, but I'll reserve judgement until they finally start getting it out to people and see the effects.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yea our governor has once again increased restrictions. I understand the need we are up to 7100 but I have noticed how lax ppl have been. The masks are on but they don’t wipe down buggies or distance in lines anymore. So here we are at the holiday and told to stay home. He plans to get reversed when things are safe to do so. I am so glad things are better where you are. I got the one highland book. I may read that next. There was was one that sounded good but had a triangle between two guys and sounded angst so I avoided that one and then the time travel one I decided nah. I need to start being more picky because I have many I pick up but never read lol.

You’re in Ohio aren’t you, Janet? I heard Chicago just ordered a month long shut down, and all schools in Detroit have closed again. Yes I hear you about people being lax. Things did get so much better for a while that people started to be less careful. Brian has been talking about that for weeks. You know he does home visits, and they are constantly having to remind family members they need to wear masks if they are going to be anywhere near the healthcare workers during the patient visits. The kids and I are still at home though, so don’t have much contact with the outside works. I go to the store occasionally and they have the usual doctor, dentist visits. But that’s about it. This too shall pass. 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 🙏🏽

Yes I’m much more picky about the free books I download. I got rid of so many on my kindle a few weeks ago. I got Red Hot Earl and one of the westerns.

message 4057: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yes I’m in Ohio. I’m gonna go tomorrow and get a few weeks worth of groceries I’ve been doing that whenever I can to avoid the idiots lol. I heard about Chicago too. We all have dentist appts next week. I’m still in highland mode how bout you?

I'm at Hogwarts. LOL Started reading the Harry Potter series. I started it years ago and only made it to about a third way through book five so I decided to reread all the books. I loved all the ones I read before. They are so much better than the movies, which I liked. I still have to finish that highland one I started reading a while back... Highland Deception. I'm just flopping all over the place.

message 4059: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lmbo yes you are. I am out and about today. Got my thanksgiving goodies and visiting with a friend. I started a short book but hasn’t really drawn me in yet so I may add to the mix with some Hannah Howell books I have. The werelock/ Vaughn series. It has the families with extordinary gifts. Seeers and such. After Breanaas book I wanted to visit. She was a healer so it’s was this series and highland bride that I loved by HH

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments We are still in the same vein though I’m just a romantic at heart kinda gal I guess.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Caron I wish I had it on kindle I’d line it to ya. I got them in paperback years ago. The first book gripped me at the beginning but had too much angst for my taste. I am pumped to read Julian and chloe’s book. I read my review and man looking back it makes me want to rewrite it when I finish. It did not do the book justice

Hi EB! Did you get the P&P freebie? Hogwarts is amazing as usual. LOL. I finally finished the first book... I wasn't reading much for a couple of weeks there, just a few pages here and there each day. Finally, getting back into some kind of rhythm. It took me almost three weeks to finish that first Harry Potter! Anyway, I finally finished it yesterday and started the second one. Still haven't finished the Highland romance I started reading weeks ago; Highland Deception. I'm sure I'll get back to it soon enough. Right now I'm in a fantasy/magic phase. LOL

Yes, thank God for our books! 😀😀😀 There's been many a day over the past few months when I've lost myself in a story for hours at a time. They are the perfect escape! 💖💥💖💝

Oh my, Sheila. I am so very sorry to hear about your brother's passing. I will keep your family in my prayers that you all receive God's solace. It is especially hard losing loved ones at this time, not that it is ever easy. Please accept my condolences for yourself and your family.

EB, I'm happy to hear that Ken has recovered and is back home with you. I hope he continues to do well. My father too was in the hospital for a few days, but is now back at home and is improving everyday. I am actually up at my parents' home for the holidays and to make sure they are doing well. It's been difficult due to the pandemic as we don't want to risk exposing either of them to the virus. So this is only the second time I've been up to see them since we were first placed in lockdown.

But this too shall pass. In the meantime all we can do is try to persevere and hold on to our faith. Sheila my heart grieves for you during this sorrowful time. I pray you will have peace.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I’m not sure why I’m having issues seeing your messages. Merry Christmas to you both. I’m sorry to hear about your brother Sheila. My niece is on lockdown and my brother too so Christmas is staying home this year. I attempted a chat room on Facebook messenger. That was hilarious bc it’s virtual and split screens then when my friend Diane tried to leave we couldn’t figure it out. We were all laughing bc she’d disappear but could still hear us and vise versa. Finally my son showed mercy on us and told us how to hang up. All this gadgetry now a days. Have you all read anything lately? I have been pretty busy. Working more hours and grateful to be able to. So many ppl hurting for money, separation anxiety I am so blessed to be able to have love health and friends surrounding me this year and pray for you both much of the same.

OMG, yes EB! It's so horrible how many people have lost their jobs, homes, and lives and how many more who are hungry and/or facing eviction. It really hurts just thinking about it. I help as much as I can, but it's not enough. I feel like I'm using a bandaid to try to plug a hole in a sinking boat. Sigh. We too are so blessed with family, homes, food, and jobs. I pray for all those who are suffering. It really is heartbreaking.

I've been reading my Harry Potter books. I just started the fourth book yesterday. I have two more books to finish by next week to reach my sixty book goal! We are at by Mom's for the holiday. Me, Brian, the kids, and my parents. We're driving back on Sunday.

I started a new reading challenge today. 😁😁😁😁 I’ve set a realistic goal, I think, only a hundred books. That number might end up being increased, considering I read sixty books in 2020 in just five months. But then again, 2020 was no normal year. 😕😕😕😕
