Yeah, I hear you, Sheila. As for me, I only download freebies from known favorite authors. Books I know I'll read that would otherwise cost a few dollars. Going through what I have now, I'm finding a lot that I'll probably never read so am getting quite happy with the permanent delete button. lol

Good morning, ladies. Just checking in. I hope everyone is having a great day of reading! I finished reading The Dreamer for the second time and loved it just as much as the first. As a matter of fact, I loved it so much that I'm tempted to shell out the four bucks to purchase the second book. But how can I justify the expense, no matter how small, when I have over a thousand other books to read?! Sigh. So, I am now on a quest to find another book that will satisfy me as much as Dreamer did. No doubt I'll find it; I certainly have a ton of choices! LOL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Caron I am good. I haven’t had a chance to pick up a book yet. I spent Tuesday at a friends house and then I worked last night and tonight. I had to do some house work on the in between. Later today I’m gonna make the wedding cookies and Friday I’m gonna decorate. My son wants to go to the drive in Friday but it’s calling for rain and lows of 37 not sure I’m willing to freeze my patootie off. Even with my hot flashes lol.
I have so many books and yes you always want the one you don’t have. I read one some time back it was a nice switch up from my norm and based in modern times. It was actually a Christian based book but not preachy. The author did a very nice job of subtlety. Anyway I finished and enjoyed it so much I did not want it to end. I almost bought the other in the series. I ended up going back and reading some old favorites bc at that point I thought maybe the other ones won’t be as good. The plot and how it flowed was what I liked if that wasn’t there I may not feel the same and then would be kicking myself. We’ve all been there. I’ll check back when I get a chance take care for now ladies!

EB you are forever busy! I get tired just reading your schedule sometimes. LOL Yes, I had to fight the urge to get the second book in the series I wanted. Thankfully, I was able to distract myself with another one, which I finished, and now I'm re-reading another favorite, Heart's Ransom.

I also just signed up for KU. I recently purchased a new kindle tablet and Amazon sent me a free 90 day trial. They've offered me free trials in the past, usually 30 days, and I think once they even offered a 60 day trial. Anyway, I figured, why not? I might as well try it. Unfortunately the series I wanted to continue is not available with KU. 😢😢😢 Oh well.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol, Caron you poor thing. You are like ooh I’ll get it this way and, wha wha, no dice. I ended up getting off work running josh to work and grocery shop. I started cleaning my kitchen and running out of juice I might add when hubby came back from his dr appt. Good news!! Ken is officially cancer free. He had over 40 visits of radiation back in July august for his prostrate cancer. He went a few weeks ago had his PSA checked. They like to see it at 5 and he is a 4.

One of many more blessings are coming girls! We all were brought back together, Ken, today’s my parents 54th wedding anniversary! RF what is the name of the book you were looking for? Maybe I have it and can loan ya. 🤞

message 3906: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Loan it to ya. Not sure why the last part disappeared. I am off to start the wedding cookies. I found my cookie cutters and my butter is ready. I laid down and got some rest. I’m having my coffee and may have a glass of barefoot moscato and get them all baked off tonight. My friend Diane is coming over to decorate with me tomorrow. Can’t wait. Let me know about that book RF if I can help a sister out I sure would like to.

🙌🙌🙌Praise be to God! OMG EB that's amazing news! You guys have been inundated with so many medical issues, it's overwhelming even to think about. So happy to hear Ken is finally on the mend. That cancer is one of the worst! Just ravages the poor body. Sigh.

Yes, It's crazy that my book wasn't available via KU. I could just cry! 😩😩😩 But such is life. The title is "The Enchantress" by May McGoldrick. It's the second in the Highland Treasure series.

Geez your day was busy!!! I had a horrible couple of nights on Tuesday and Wednesday so I passed out for almost two hours late yesterday afternoon! I didn't wake up until after five o'clock! I never can take naps in the day unless I'm falling on my feet. So while I was "busy" sleeping you were REALLY busy! 😂😂😂

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies available today.

https://www.amazon.com/Lairds-Promise...

https://www.amazon.com/Highland-Burn-...

https://www.amazon.com/Bound-Highland...

https://www.amazon.com/Kilts-Kisses-N...
This is a novella. Page count 111.

https://www.amazon.com/Kaden-Travel-H...
This is a time travel romance set in the Highlands. Heroine is from the future (our time). All the other books above are also Highland romances.

https://www.amazon.com/Highland-Barba...
I read this book. It's well written but the story was a three star read for me.

https://www.amazon.com/Highland-Ghost...
This is a paranormal romance novella. The page count is listed as 78 pages. The heroine is a modern day librarian. The hero is a ghost; a Highlander who has been dead for over three hundred years. FYI it's a novella. Might be a fun read.

https://www.amazon.com/Highlander-Enc...

https://www.amazon.com/Rakes-Redempti...

https://www.amazon.com/Taste-Seductio...

https://www.amazon.com/Springtide-Mee...
This is a 100 page novella.

https://www.amazon.com/Her-Counterfei...
In this book, the heroine's husband dies (he's a duke). Realizing she will now be at the mercy of his younger brother she decides to try to try to keep his death secret. So she hides the body. When she finds the injured hero, who resembles her husband, she decides to have him pretend to be her husband. The hero apparently has no memory of who he is. I'm not sure how the sequence of events unfolds, but it sounds like a lot of coincidences to me. In any event, the book does have an almost five star rating of over three hundred reviews.

https://www.amazon.com/Coming-Up-Rose...
This is a full length novel twist on P&P. It says it's "inspired" by JA's P&P. It's about the Bennet brothers.

That's it for today ladies. EB and Sheila, I hope the P&P one turns out to be something you don't have and that's awesome! Have a great day!

I have had such a frustrating morning with these cookies that I had to quit. 5 cake bags split on me and it’s just a mess. My niece is ok with no cookies so thank goodness because I am opting out on this one. I have been reading my book and happy to report that Colin is beginning to grow on me. What book are you reading now, EB? I just finished re-reading Heart's Ransom by Kathryn Loch. An amazing book! Right now I'm looking for a new one to get started on; I'm torn between another Loch re-read or a new one by Kathryn LeVeque. 😕😕😕

Good morning! Oh wow! So you read Duncan's story a few years back and now he's a baby? That's pretty funny. lol I'm reading Tisdale's "Rowan's Lady." So far it's pretty good. She does make their speech very authentic like though and the heroine in the book is Irish so you can imagine.

Good afternoon, ladies. I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Here are a few freebies available on Amazon today. I hope you find something to tempt you. I have to confess that I did download the one about the twins. 🙈🙈🙈

https://www.amazon.com/Ladys-Search-L...
This is an inspirational romance set in America

https://www.amazon.com/Promise-Miss-S...
This book is set in Victorian times

https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Plan-Da...
This book has no reviews. However, I did check out the author's Amazon page and she has written several other books all of which have overall good ratings—4 stars and above. The premise of the story sounds so good! The heroines are twins. Yes, the story seems to be about the both of them; Emmaline and Juliana. They are identical in looks, but opposite in personality. Juliana, the headstrong one is secretly in love with a lord who has a bad rep. He loves her too, but because of his reputation does not approach her. When their father, an Earl, arranges Juliana's marriage to another man, Jules convince shy, quiet Em, to switch places with her. Now Em falls for this man, who thinks she's her sister. So I'm sure she's feeling guilty. In the meantime, Jule's love interest returns intent on declaring himself finally, but is dismayed to find that Jules is now happy with another man. But of course nothing is as it seems. La this is getting confusing to explain, but I'm hoping you're following. haha The book is 529 pages so it's long, but I'm going to download a copy. The premise sounds so good.. I just hope it delivers!

Good morning, ladies. I hope your week is off to a good start. Here are a few freebies for today.

https://smile.amazon.com/Callums-Vow-...

https://smile.amazon.com/Lord-All-Sin...

https://smile.amazon.com/Highland-Fir...

https://smile.amazon.com/Dawns-Promis...
This one is set in Victorian times. It's a bit unusual in that the H hires the h to be his gardener, although he doesn't know she's a she until they meet. There's some intrigue surrounding the Earl's estate, which we are told is quite derelict.

https://smile.amazon.com/Siren-Highla...

https://smile.amazon.com/Raiders-Brid...
Sheila, I know you like books set during the Civial War period. This one is set during the period when America is fighting for its independence from England. I wasn't sure if you like that period or not. Plot does sound intriguing. Hero is a patriot. Heroine is a "reluctant" British spy. The H hires the h as a governess for his ward.

https://smile.amazon.com/Beast-Aros-C...

https://smile.amazon.com/Leif-Viking-...

That's it for today, ladies. Have a great day!

Good morning, ladies. I hope your weekend is getting of to a nice start. Here are a few freebies available on Amazon today.

https://smile.amazon.com/Kings-Favori...
This first one is by Tanya Anna Crosby; EB we read her McKinnon's Bride a few years back and loved it! Hopefully, this one will be as good.

https://smile.amazon.com/Blacksmith-F...
This one is unusual in that the hero apparently is a mater blacksmith, while the heroine is the daughter of an Earl. The H is involved in some type of plot against the king.

https://smile.amazon.com/Scots-Pledge...
This is a time travel romance. Modern day h; Highland H. There's also a magical element. The hero is some type of wizard, who is now laird and needs to find his true mate for the safety of Scotland.

https://smile.amazon.com/Highland-Hea...
This is a boxset that contains three highland romance books. It's over seven hundred pages, so they are not novellas. A couple of the author's other books have been on our freebie list recently; A Laird's Promise and Highlander's Captive. FYI the first book in this boxset is The Laird's Promise.

https://smile.amazon.com/Inheriting-T...

https://smile.amazon.com/Love-Ballroo...

https://smile.amazon.com/Peaks-Prairi...
This is an American historical.

https://smile.amazon.com/Rake-Taken-L...
This one is set in Victorian England. There is a magical element to it. The heroine has a supernatural gift; she has the ability to block the psychic abilities of others and she can steal time by erasing people's memories. The hero is described as her guardian angel, but he is human. His gifts are powerful dreams and hearing people's thoughts.

https://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-B...

That's it for today, ladies. Have a great weekend!!! EB make sure you grab a copy of that first book.

Good morning, EB! 😂😂😂😂 yes I did. I’m actually reading that book now. I’ve read it before, years ago. But for some reason it wasn’t included in the books on my Goodread’s profile. I must have read it before joining GR or before I started to really do anything on GR. I don’t remember exactly when I did join, but I only became active after we all met on Amazon and decided to start this group. Anyway, I’m about a third of the way through the book now. I love the H and h. They are both so wonderful. Her family sure is a piece of work. I’d forgotten about the sister’s appearing in Scotland until I read your review. I remember her being a selfish bitch. As far as the reading, I’ve been on a roll lately! I thought about starting a reading challenge; I was thinking I’d try for twenty books seeing as I started reading so late in the year. Only to discover I’ve already read over twenty books so far! 😯😯😯

There are no reviews for this book. The first book in the series has a 4 1/2 star rating, but no actual reviews. We actually had the second book in the series on our freebie list a couple weeks ago. This one is the third book in the series. The heroes are brothers, orphans who grew up in poverty. Presumably they are now successful but as of yet have not managed to break into the cream of London society. Each book is about one brother's story. Honestly, I can't even tell what time period the story is set in. It's another novella, listed at just over 60 pages.

I may just go to sands I don’t think I’m in a Darcy mood or maybe it’s just not pulling me in so maybe the scotts are calling me back to the highlands. I get in moods like that. I've gotta get on with it! Yeah, this is a great Sands book. There's another one that I read and really loved, but I can't remember the title right now. I'll have to look it up and let you know. The hero was a Scot; the heroine English I think. She was a hot head and her poor father, or maybe it was her brother, were trying to get her to behave meek and lady like so they could get her married off. But she kept losing her temper. LOL I think the hero was a friend of her brother's and was hurt or something and recuperating at their castle. I'll look it up.
