Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I was at work when we spoke earlier and couldn't say much. I have to tell you that I am liking the book so far. The h does not take crap and gets back in his face. I love that. When I made the statement earlier it was bc I think I was trying to think that through at the same time. Yes, it does sound predictable so wh did I bite sort of thought so it was more of trying to answer myself and express my thoughts toward you. I honestly don't always understand what calls out to me with some of the books I buy but good or bad I am always searching. LOL.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I haven't read it yet. But I have liked other books by her. Right now reading Take a Chance on Me
It's not a JAFF book but it is book 1 of a series.

It has lots of sexual chemistry going on.

message 3811: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Let me know I just read a second chance love story which was sweet but it wasn't p&p based

message 3812: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I finished reading the first two books in Marilyn Brant's Mirabelle Harbor series Take a Chance on Me 4.5 stars and The One That I Want 5 stars. She has published a third book in the series and I plan to read it also. They are very enjoyable and she presented them in different styles.

message 3813: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Awesome I'll check them out when I get a chance. It's pretty hectic for me now. Hope you had a good holiday I did up late ringing in the new year with old friends and family good times

message 3814: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Thank you: we visited our daughter and her family (two grandchildren). So it was a relaxing day yesterday.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Good for you. Did you meet your reading challenge last year? I actually did but I set my new goal 50 less than last year.

message 3816: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Yes, I was actually way over it. Being retired makes it easier to reach such a goal. Congrats on meeting yours also! Happy New Year.

message 3817: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments You too.

message 3818: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments OK, Sophia, there are 229 new posts listed at the top of the page to me. This is where I would like to know how to delete the ones I have read.

message 3819: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Hey Sheila. I see you've been reading zombie books lately. Lol. You have messages you need deleted where on here?

message 3820: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I have read all of the above so how do I delete them...and thank you for the help.

I read the 3 Zombie books in anticipation of the movie to come out in Feb. as "I must have my share of the conversation". LOL

message 3821: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Are you referring to the posts we've had? I've never attempted to delete them. These Zombie are they all by the same author? Are they an on going story bc your one review said Darcy never really made an appearance so I figured it would follow the twilight saga and build up to the later events in p&p original. You know I even enjoyed Abraham Lincoln vampire slayer. I only seen the movie but as odd a story subject it was good. My favorite part was when his wife got renege for their son.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments The Zombie stories are a series of 3, of which the first and last Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After are by the same author. Darcy doesn't show up in the first but his Aunt Catherine is mentioned. The middle book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which is the main story, is by Jane Austen and a different author. 90% of this book is Jane Austen's words as I do say in my review. The author simply adds words, phrases, sentences and/or paragraphs. In my opinion the third book is the best of the three but, be warned, it has lots of angst. There is not a lot of dwelling on blood & guts.

message 3824: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Well thx for the info. I think I'll just wait for the movies. The third sounds like the breaking dawn of twilight except I get the feeling E&D are not yet a joined force and that is what I like to see. There can be battles and trouble but as long as the couple are together through that I'm cool with that. The cast looks good for the movie and no doubt Wickham is really evil in this read but by the looks Lydia won't go willingly by the previews

message 3825: by KatS (new)

KatS | 2 comments I don't know how to make a new category to post (if that is allowed) and this seems to be the only board that is not frozen here so I thought I would ask. Is anyone willing give SPOILERS on
Midnight Lily? I have been searching for spoilers without any luck.
I really want them this story seems iffy if it is something I want to read. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi Kat! Who is the author of the book? Is that the one by Mia Sheridan? Assuming that it is, I haven't read it. But I did find one (1) star review that didn't really give any details, but gave a couple of hints at spoilers. Here's the link.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/customer-r...

I also found another reviewer who said she'd give spoilers to anyone who really wanted them, if you PM'd her. I went to her profile page and found her GR profile page. Here's the link to that...

And here is the link to her review, which does not include spoilers.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/customer-r...

Hopefully I've got the right book. Good luck!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Mia Sheridan did a book called Archer's Voice that I loved. If your looking for a great romantic read that's a good start. They're also making it into a movie.

EB you should check out the one called Midnight Lily. Sounds intriguing. One of the couple has some sort of multiple personality disorder it seems like. NOBODY will give spoilers! Ugh!

message 3829: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol, RF hi girl! So your sending in your minions to give some spoilers, huh? I am currently in Derbyshire with mr Darcy but once it's through I'll check it out. Lol. Good to see we're back on the board again.

LOL No girl. I haven't read the book myself, but Kat was inquiring about spoilers earlier and I did some checking. I found one lady who is willing to give spoilers, but only via private message. LOL However, there was a one star review where that reviewer mentioned something about multiple personalities. Most people seemed to love the book, though!

message 3831: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I followed the link and read a review where the lady said she loved the first 20 pages but then it fell apart. I commented on her review but I started a free kindle unlimited trial right now and wanted to check some books out. What are you reading?

NOTHING! LOL I'm thinking of starting the Chronicles of Narnia. LOL I need to read, and they say it helps to read books in the genre that you write, so I figured, why not? Plus I liked those books the first time I read them, but I never finished the series. The bottom line, though, is that I've been super busy. I still have a ton of pencil boxes to finish for Lucian's bday party.

message 3833: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol chop chop mom! I have not picked up crochet hooks in weeks. I started reading but I fear I'll always be a romance girl in the long run. My brother from North Carolina sent us 40 movies. I am so happy bc he included my all time favorite Stephen King in the mix. The classics like Christine and Pet Semetary which is my favorite. Now I may if I get a hot tip on a book similar to those or like misery try one but shortly you know where I'll be again. Lol

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Have you read Terry Brooks Shannara and other books? Shannara Chronicles was televised and the last episode was Tuesday. Filmed in NZ and beautiful scenery, costumes, and characters. On the line of the Hobbit. The first book was The Sword of Shannara. My adult children and I read the books and now watched the series. The series is coming back but I don't know when.

Hi Sheila! Thanks for the tip. I read most of the Narnia books several years ago, as well as the Harry Potter ones, but I'm in the mood for some fantasy reading WITHOUT sex. LOL I'll check those out. They sound right up my alley. Recently I've been reading the Wimpy Kid Diaries series with my kids at night. Before that, it was the Lego Ninjago series. You get the picture. Haha

message 3836: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I liked the hobbit when I took my boys to see it. I can't say I'd read the books though. Idk y those types of books just don't appeal to me

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Have you read The Cowboy in the Cupboard? I read it to my kids when they were 12, 14 and 16 while student teaching. They loved it and the sequels. It was also made into a movie but the book, of course, was better. I read it to 5th graders as a student teacher and they also loved it.

Good luck. I would not be able to get into the positions required. But have fun. How old is your niece?

message 3840: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It says for beginners which is good bc I have a tape I do at home and most of the time I am laughing bc of the positions. My niece is 25

Thanks, Sheila. No I've never heard of that series! I'll have to check it out. I really want to get back to my reading. I miss it like crazy! I do miss my romance novels too. Sigh!

Good luck with the yoga, EB! Sounds fun! I haven't been to the gym in a few weeks, but I have taken advantage of the decent weather and started back running last week. This week, not so much, but I did Taebo yesterday. I love pretending that I'm kicking someone's butt! LOL

message 3842: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Ok so I checked out the Mia Sheridan book and it just didn't sound like something I'd want to take on right now. So I was looking and there was a book I read some time ago called Gone before Goodbye by Nora Leduc that I liked. It was a thriller/suspense/romance. I really enjoyed it and just seen it was book 1. Book 2 The Devil Wore Sneakers is what I decided on and it is under the kindle unlimited program too. Double plus.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Well have fun and don't injure yourself - you are a lot braver than I am.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Thanks for sharing. I will have to check some of these out as I don't want to download them just because they are free. I am trying to read all the books I have had sitting on my Kindle for a long time and am not inclined to add more unless they are rated high by other readers. But..again...thank you.

You're welcome, Sheila. Yes, I know what you mean. I always read the synopsis and a few of the reviews, both good and bad, before I download the free books. No sense in having a ton of books that you'll never read. I hope you find something that appeals to you. Take care!
