Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Hey Sheila this book ends on page 666. Really she could add or take away a page. Lmao. I also had to laugh bc I got four books. I thought I only got two. Lol

Which book was that? I was away overnight babysitting so just got home & checking e-mail. Got no reading done so husband's away & I'm eating leftovers & reading until bedtime

message 3753: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol. I love leftover night. Dishes are few and microwaves work perfect. Okay I got Woodiwiss's Shanna, forever in your embrace, come love a stranger, and a hard copy of Shanna. So I requested twice. Lol. I started Shanna at the dr's earlier. She has laid out her plan to Beaumont but he has just clarified his condition to the marriage.

message 3754: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I'm reading Shanna in the hard back bc it ends on pg 534 instead of in the paperback which was 666. That's just nuts.

message 3755: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I just realized its Beauchamp not Beaumont. Ruark is an odd name but not too bad

message 3756: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I am now wanting to read it again.

message 3757: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol. I am over a hundred pages into Woodiwiss's book and have to say you can tell it's an older book. Sort of like the books I use to read from zebra romance in the 80's. It's a no please don't take me...oh wait....Oooh a little to the right...lmao. I like that they use authentic lingo but it's hard for me to follow who's talking and saying what. I just have to keep going back to make sense as to what Is going on. The part in the carriage is so vague I was like what even happened. I am still going to finish but it will not be a smooth journey. Lol

message 3758: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Sorry. My memories of it are much more pleasant. Hope you get some enjoyment from it but remember this author is credited with being the first to take us "into the bedroom" so she was venturing into new territory and had no one to guide her.

message 3759: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments That's pretty nifty. The pioneer author you say? It is alright it's just like older movies the woman of the time were reared to believe that if you openly wanted sex you were a slut. True ladies were to deny wanting it even though during they lied it or at least I hope they did. She was probably afraid her h would be perceived cheap if she was willing.

message 3760: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I'm just thankful she started that whole new type of genre!

message 3761: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I agree and I know I came across harsh in my opinion but as I read further the story is balancing out. I think the idea of a lady waiting until she knows him is much better than the new cr where they're bed hopping left and right like its a walk in the park. Lol.

message 3762: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Agreed. I have always liked monogamous relationships in my books. And I love sexual chemistry and angst leading up to completion.

message 3763: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Me too

message 3764: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Catherine Anderson has a new book coming out in January it belongs in her Mystic Creek collection. I loved Silver Thaw and can't wait to see what is in store for us. God I hope its as good or better.

message 3765: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Oh me too!! I still need to read Silver Thaw but it's definitely on my list!!!!

message 3766: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments LOL. Girl I preordered it. LMAO. I got Silver Thaw out at my library but I am stoked for this one. It sounds really good. Here's the link if anyone else is interested.New Leaf

message 3767: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Oh it sounds good!! What kind of name is Taffy though? Lmao! Was she in silver thaw?

message 3768: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments No but I remember the H had a brother that I think was a cop if I'm remembering correctly. The H in this one is a cop. That's classic Anderson isn't it? Taffy is bizarre but maybe she's salty, sweet. Lol

message 3769: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Good morning ladies! I just thought I'd stop in and say hello. I hope you all have good books your involved with. I have a 12 hour shift in getting ready to start. Have a good day!

I hope you have a good book on your kindle for your 12 hour shift!

message 3771: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yes I do have a good book but today is a trying day for me. My client is just being difficult and no matter what I do I cannot seem to please her. I did what needed done and got treated like I did nothing. My book has a tough military man and he just came to the h rescue. Where's my tough guy I could really use him about now. Lol. I'm ready to scoot. Quitting time please come soon

message 3772: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It's really sad that none of talk any more but here and there. :(

message 3773: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Omg cold hearted take is Lisa Kleypas new book. I have the opportunity to ask her any question

message 3774: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I usually like her books but haven't read any lately. Which is her new one?

message 3775: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Cold hearted rake. My question to her was if this book connected with her other historical romances. I would love to this connect with the wall flowers or the Hathaways.

message 3776: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Cold-Hearted Rake here is the link if you want to read up on it. I already pre ordered its release date is the 27th of next month

message 3777: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I usually find used paperback copies for historical romances at my local "Used paperback" bookstore. When I turn in old ones I get credit towards new ones. Unfortunately I have not found JAFF there. But I do find Lisa Kleypas and many other popular authors. So I will wait on this one.

We used to have a place called the paperback shack around my area too. Unfortunely they are gone now. I go to the library for my freebies and the others I just buy or burrow from other fellow readers for my kindle. I wish you were on Facebook I just created my page there called The Happy Hooker. LOL. It is all of my crochet projects that I am putting out there and I am going to further post new projects and post my upcoming craft shows. I am off today and I am done cleaning the house. Finishing up laundry and I'm going to work on some more projects. I just started a P&P book that was a freebie from kindle it is called Four Days in April: A Pride and Prejudice Variation; A Sweet Tea Short Story. I read a couple naughty ones that would not be for you but I found one kind of funny, slightly disturbing and the other was just plain ridiculous. Anyhow they fit my mood for the time. I own most of LK stuff and this is only my second kindle book from her all my others were paperback. I hope I am not disappointed.

message 3779: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments OK, I Just picked up that free book by Maria Grace. I have not done much reading lately as I have been babysitting and/or visiting my grandchildren a lot. Have to do that again tomorrow and then again on Saturday, the latter of which I dread as the traveling will conflict with the Pope's visit in Philadelphia.

Aww are you a catholic girl? How many grandbabies do you have? I just back from taking a friend out for her birthday. We've been friends since kindergarten and I worked when she had her party. I'm upset because she tells me tonight that her cousin had a male stripper come. LOL. She comes from an Italian family and her mom is a nut. I would have loved to have been there.

message 3781: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments I was reared Protestant, became RC b/c my husband is one, but now am back to being a Protestant. I have 4 grandchildren. The Pope's visit is a problem due to traffic with people crowding into Philly to see him while I am trying to get to my daughter's which is just outside Philly but along several of the major highways people will use to get into the city.

message 3782: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Four that's a good amount I think.

message 3783: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I finished a skull hat. I like how it looks I'll send it to you

message 3784: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Just in time for the next holiday! Will look to see it - babysat an hour away for my daughter all day today with the "other" grandmother and just got home. 2 children - 2 grandmothers.

message 3785: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I thought of you when I read the paper about the pope heading to Philly. I love babies

message 3786: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Yes, but then they grow up so quickly. But I am loving my 4 month old grandson, Tate, and 6 month old granddaughter, Mae. They both have an older sibling of the opposite gender: Tessa, 2.5 years and Jackson, 3 years.

message 3787: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Oh those are all fun ages. Love the name Tate

message 3788: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Thanks. His parents wanted something not popular!

message 3789: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I named my youngest Joshua which Back in 2002 was #1 but I just liked the name

message 3790: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments That's a very nice and masculine name! As well as Biblical.

message 3791: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It was Joshua or Brandon. For a girl I liked Sadie.

message 3792: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Good choices. I don't think I know of any Sadie's so that would have been unique.

message 3793: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol I saw this movie with Bette Midler in it called Big Business and that was her name. I loved it every since.

message 3794: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Never saw that one. But she is a good actress and I have seen many others in which she acted.

message 3795: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I love her quirky personality. I think Lillian Thomlin was her co actress. They were passed off as twins when In reality they were switched at birth. It was funny.

message 3796: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments That sounds funny - like the one with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Twins (1988), a comedy with Danny DeVito. I am off to bed - a long day - left the house before 8 to go to babysit.

OMG that was priceless. They just had that on a couple days ago and it cracked me up. I haven't done much reading lately and I got this book it sounded interesting and the title had me cracking up. It's called Fugly. I never finished 4 days in April not bc it was bad but bc I was wanting something different. I go through these moods the reviews said it was a beautiful read bc the h is disfigured in the face. Kate you would probably like that angle.

message 3798: by Sheila (last edited Oct 01, 2015 06:38AM) (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments HAVE YOU READ Making Faces...a must read - read my review. So beautiful and with the last word I was sobbing. Another Beauty and the Beast type of story...not JAFF

Making Faces

I just started Four Days in April and since it is short will finish it today.

Read the book description of Fugly - sounds interesting.

message 3799: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Well in that vein I guess you can look at any romance novel in that way. You know the H if a rake will be swept away with the h and ruined for all others but I have to tell you this book grabbed my attention bc the H is going to have to work for making himself like able. He is an asshole at this point and I am curious how the author will change that for me if she can. I am enjoying it all the same

message 3800: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 102 comments Oh, I didn't mean to belittle the book. I am sure it is an interesting read and I can even see where it would compare to P&P...Darcy's opinion of Elizabeth's connections, her family and her place in the social structure of that day and age. I will look for your rating and review of that book.
