Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Okay well you know I'll give spoilers

message 3452: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments I asked someone and I think you will be fine. There are no intimate flash backs. He does think of Leila like in the scene you mentioned and when that Toxic song comes on thinking about how lively and playful she was. That's it.

message 3453: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Well you certainly have your spies in place don't you? Lol. Thanks I can breathe. There are certain stories once you hear them you don't want to tarnish the big picture and this is one of them. Lol.

message 3454: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Yep lol!!! I had to know for both our peace of minds. The small flashbacks with Leila are simply to show the reader how out of left field Christian felt when she tries to kill Ana and herself and nothing more. Keep me posted honey!

message 3455: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Will do and that is what I was hoping for. It makes sense for him to struggle with it but there is such a thing as TMI

message 3456: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Absolutely!!! I don't want to read those kind of scenes either lol!!!

message 3457: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It was hard enough for me when C is thinking of him and Ana and thinks how to avoid her touching him bc only Mrs. R can touch him and be bareable

message 3458: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments He's thinking that now?

message 3459: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments A little earlier in the story he did

message 3460: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It was around the time they were having coffee I think. After the photo shoot.

message 3461: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Gotcha. That was really early. Before they had sex.

message 3462: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments That's what I'm trying to remember but it may have been closer to that scene. Like maybe that elevator scene. I think that's when he said it bc he grabbed both of her wrists and held them above her head so she couldn't touch him. Yeah that was when. Lol. God my memory sometimes just doesn't work right away

message 3463: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments We both know he changes his tune pretty quickly LMAO

message 3464: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yes, but when he actually comes face to face I wonder if that will trigger memories. I'll think positive.

message 3465: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Face to face with whom? I was told that we don't get any intimate flash backs so I think we should be good.

message 3466: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I know it's just me over thinking is all.

message 3467: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments I don't blame you! It's hard to trust these "other versions" of the story LOL!

message 3468: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments What makes it hard too is on the original he had such a cold and collected demeanor towards Ana so trying to figure out what went on in his head was why everyone wanted these books in the first place. Then you take in to account that he's never known the hearts and flowers part of a relationship so his angle could really range in thoughts. Comparing what he knows with the subs he had and his new thing with Ana

Hi Ladies! I'm super late today. That's what happens when the kids are at home. Anyhow, the search through the freebie HR section pretty much sucked...nothing of worth was available; nothing new that is. I then did a search through the CR section, which was much more fruitful.

http://smile.amazon.com/Stripping-Bil...

http://smile.amazon.com/Remember-When...

http://smile.amazon.com/Family-Christ...

http://smile.amazon.com/Protect-Serve...

This first one, STRIPPING THE BILLIONAIRE is book four in the Heirs of Damon series. I read book 3, ENGAGING THE BOSS, which I really enjoyed; I think I gave it 4 stars.

REMEMBER WHEN is touted as a romantic comedy and, according to the blurb, it does not end in a cliffhanger. I'm not sure how that can be seeing as the story continues in two additional books, but there you have it. Ah I think I get it now. The story is about a movie star and his childhood sweetheart. This first book goes back to their time together in high school. I believe that that is what makes up most of this first book. Oh and BE AWARE ladies, according to one reviewer the "cliffhanger ending really ticked me off"!!!! BUT the blurb claims it doesn't end in a cliffhanger.

A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS is a standalone CR. It's about two women, best friends and roommates, who find love with two brothers. The brothers are co-guardians of their niece, the daughter of their late sister. It's a really sweet story; I read it. The problem I had with it, however, is that there was more focus on one romance and not the other. Unfortunately, IMO the female who seemed to be the main character is the one whose romance got swept under the rug. Nevertheless, it's a sweet family story; not much focus on Christmas though.

TO PROTECT AND SERVE is a Christian CR. It's about a H who is a firefighter and a h who runs a semi-successful ad agency. The two meet when the h is hired to do a conference and she goes to the fire station to get speakers for the conference...not sure what type of conference it is. Anyhow, there big tension in the story seems to come from the h not being sure she can handle being with someone who has such a dangerous job...at least, from the reviews, I assume that is the main issue in the book.

Anyhow, that's gonna be it for me today, ladies. TTYL!

Here's a link to another freebie CR; this one has a blind h and H. The H is a former Navy SEAL who is injured. He goes into the hospital to get treated and comes out blind! The H's brother hires the h to teach the H how to live as a blind person.

Good morning, ladies. I did post a freebie list yesterday afternoon; if you missed it make sure to check it out. There are a few CRs on the list; no HRs. Today's list is super short. The first one is a book that includes samples of twenty romance books all of different genres. I'm not one for samples; they do absolutely nothing for me, but I know that a lot of people enjoy reading them and they can introduce readers to new authors.

http://smile.amazon.com/Teasers-Taste...

http://smile.amazon.com/Old-Fashioned...

http://smile.amazon.com/Silver-Histor...

http://smile.amazon.com/Two-Reasons-S...

AN OLD-FASHIONED ROMANCE is a CR by Marcia Lynn McClure. It's about a h who has a crush on her boss. FYI the reviews keep referring to the fact that the story is set in a modern setting, but I'm not sure in what year the events of the story actually take place. BTW if you've read MLM's DESERT FIRE, an American HR, the h in this book is the great granddaughter of the H/h in that book. I read that book, actually; it was a hoot!

SILVER HEART is a mail-order bride romance. I've never read this book, but I did read book 2 in the series, STEEL HEART, and pretty much hated it. Just throwing out my opinion. LOL

TWO REASONS TO BE SINGLE is a CR novella. It's just under 100 pages. The H and h meet when the H moves to the h's hometown. There is a chemistry between them, but the h--who has been unlucky in love--is sure that the H is hiding something.

That's it for the today, ladies. TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments My schedule is hectic this week so don't think I'm neglecting you ladies. I'm already at work and I will be most of the week. My hours have picked up thank goodness and my client hasn't woke up yet. Still reading Grey yesterday I took the boys and niece to a water park and we all had a blast. It's good bc it's all rain today. I told them I'd take the Wednesday to see JW at the drive in bc it's suppose to be nice. I had to cancel Friday bc it is such a mess down by our river we couldn't have our luau. I'm bummed about that but we're just planning it for later. If it ever dries up. Okay well I'm going to read some more before she gets up.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Omg Rachel I got to the part where C offers to introduce one of his ex subs to talk to Ana so she can ask any questions she has and also talks about Mrs. R. It's interesting to hear how cold and business like he is about the whole thing. There is no emotion behind it at all. It is really sad to me to be in Ana's place right now.

Hi EB! That's one of the reasons why I disliked Ana so much. I didn't think she had much sense when it came to C. He seemed cold and withdrawn; even if that wasn't really the case. To me she was too taken by the fact that he was so handsome and sexy! Ugh!

message 3475: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Lol!! I love Christian!! He changes his tune though EB - you know that. He doesn't really know how to act.

message 3476: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Ana never had a man turn her head and she was clumsy and awkward and that I totally got. C was cold and the fact that he thinks you can just go up to a stranger and casually ask how the sex was is omg, pull out my hair stupid. He is thinking in his mind why is she mad? Clearly Ana's heart is gone and he doesn't get it. She did not bother me bc we know C has been conditioned sort of the way the nazi's believed their way was the only way. It's the moments he says what are you doing to me that give you that spark of hope. I know Ana got on your nerves RF and god knows I have had ones that got under my skin but C had that cold demeanor like Darcy and as you know I love me some Darcy. Lol. Granted Lizzy never let him have the last word but Ana also got her digs in and challenged C. The fact that she wore his boxers home and used his toothbrush and then gloated threw him into an unfamiliar area. Rachel what did you think of Emily's Wish?

message 3477: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Come on Rachel we're gonna beat C. He says and I quote," anastasia are you jealous?" Sweetheart, I had a life before you. Oh no he didn't!! END OF RANT!!!

message 3478: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I left off part after a life before you he thinks a very active life. Shit for brains, motherfucker... Now I'm done lol

message 3479: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments LMAO Poor EB. I'm gonna read it and I just keep remembering that it's not until towards the end of the first book that he really comes around. He is kind of pyscho all over the place, but I remember that going in even though I freaking LOVED HIM!

message 3480: by Elizabeth (new)

Yes EB, Anna got on my nerves big time! All I kept thinking was that if my daughter turned out so stupid I'd cry! She was written like a clueless teenager...TSTL! She got on my nerves for a lot of reasons, as you know. She's the girl who would have me rolling my eyes all the time if we knew each other in real life. LOL Christian was great; I loved his psycho ass; I think he deserved a better heroine.

message 3483: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I don't think any other woman would have tolerated his ass. Look I know most hated Ana but me I had to side with her. She had to deal with a lot of shit from him. I do think she was flighty at times. One minute she's thinking she won't take his deal but then talking to him she says yes do whatever to me. Idk I just went easier on her than most I guess.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It's funny how different we all think of characters. Sometimes others point out things that I never thought of but then it's brought up I think yea and then I can't think of the same after.

Elizabeth wrote: "It's funny how different we all think of characters. Sometimes others point out things that I never thought of but then it's brought up I think yea and then I can't think of the same after."

That's true. When I discuss books with others; usually a book I love and one they hated, I can totally see the other person's POV, yet still I was able to overlook the issues they had. It is very funny/weird how that happens; we can't choose what to like and what not to like. We can try, but usually it's instinct, not design. I know you liked Ana, and I really disliked her. You'd definitely be the more tolerant friend, whereas I'd avoid her like the plague! LOL It's the main reason I didn't like FSOG; because it was told in the first person from her POV, and I did not like her at all. I did have other issues with the story too, though; I think the author totally missed the boat with the psychological aspect, but that was a much more minor issue for me than Ana's character.

Anyhow, I'm off to take Lucian to preschool then Hannah and I are going to the craft event they have a Michael's. Have a nice day! TTYL

You know EB, it's not nice to gloat!!!!!! I really want to see both those movies. Remember a couple of weeks ago I tried to go see MC2? Ugh! Have fun for me!!! I'm just getting home; we left the house at 8:30 this morning. It's another exhausting day!...and no reading so far!

Rachel | 443 comments Emily's Wish was really cute, but very short! LOL Novellas always leave me wanting more :)

EB - I hope you are able to finish Grey. I will start it eventually. Not right now, I have too many single parent romances lived up that I am SO FREAKING EXCITED about - if only I had the time to dive in and loose myself for days LMAO By the way, I am SUPER jealous about your drive in. That sounds like so much freaking fun. I still haven't seen JW and I heard it was fantastic! I hope you enjoy your night ;)

RF - me too!!! I need to do two reviews that I am going to sit down and do right now. They won't be very wordy because I am exhausted. I actually had today off and I was very productive with my time, so I guess that's a plus.

I hope you ladies have a fabulous rest of the day! :D

I certainly hope not, EB! You should try to enjoy as much of the summer as possible. I took Hannah to Michael's this morning. Apparently they have a craft project for the kids every MWF mornings! Who knew?! LOL She and her best friend went. They were the only ones there. The lady was super nice. For $5 they got to make such much stuff; they had a blast! We were only supposed to be there about an hour; they stayed the full two hours. As a matter of fact, we didn't leave until almost 12:30. I then left Hannah with her BFF and Mom and went to pick up Lucian from camp. The kids then hung out in their pool until it was time for them to go to their swimming lessons. By the time I got home, it was almost five. I'm exhausted, but the kids had fun...I guess that's all that counts. LOL Hopefully I'll get to read for a little while this evening. Sigh

As for reviews, Rach I haven't done one in weeks. I have a list of about ten books to review. It's a shame really, but what can you do?

message 3491: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments FYI if anyone is interested Killer by Clarissa Wild is free on Amazon and Stalker is $2.99 which is like a $1 less than what I payed. I don't figure you ladies are interested by I thought I'd throw it out there. My niece is reading it now...I can't wait to see her feedback. JW was so good and MC2 had tears running down my face from laughing so hard. The drive in was dead only 10 cars for both screens but we had a blast.

Thanks, EB! Glad you enjoyed the movies. I'm jealous! LOL I've had a fairly relaxing morning. We took Lucian to camp then ran a couple of errands. Then Hannah and I decorated a pencil box for her Nana; her grandmother is a teacher. Anyhow, SHE did the work; I simply helped her by placing and removing the stencils according to her directions. She was worried that she'd mess it up, but she did a pretty awesome job! They now have me putting the names of their stuffed animals on some mini party tubs. She had me buy a set of three today so she can use them when she and Lucian play school with their toys. LOL

I didn't check for freebies this morning; it was a bit busy. Tomorrow I don't have to rush out to take Lucian to camp so I will have more time to check for books. Honestly though, the pickings have been so slim lately that a daily freebie list is almost overkill. :-) TTYL!

message 3493: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments RF! Don't worry about the reviews. I do them mainly for myself (to remember) and my friends so they know what's safe and what's not. Of course lately, I've been so picky I haven't done any "not" safe books.

EB - I am glad you had a blast at the movies and I'm jealous. I had a productive day yesterday after my sister bailed on our movie plans but it's no big deal. :) my hubs said he would go see it with me (even though he doesn't care for dinosaurs) since Sarah bailed. I think he really wants some special treatment lol!! Little does he know, I need his sperm anyway to test it for sperm counting purposes. Okay now I'm getting TMI - must be time for bed Hahahaha!!!!

Have a great day ladies!!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Going to be leaving for work soon. Yesterday my throat bothered me from being outside in the cold air at the drive in so don't be too jealous. Lol. My niece came over with the baby and we made waffles. She's so cute little stinker is 9 months now. Anyhow she kept wanting to cuddle with me when her mom noticed this huge eye goober so she's torturing her by trying to clean it out. Then another one forms and I told her I think she's getting a cold in her eye or an infection bc she started getting discharge in her other eye too. So I went with her to urgent care and she is diagnosed with pink eye. Poor baby but then it dawns on me I will probably come down with it to. My niece was apologizing like its her fault. Lol. Good news I just went to the eye dr so I should be able to ask him to call me in something for it. I'm going to try today bc it will probably hit me in Sunday. Still working on Grey. I haven't got too much reading in this week. They just screwed in the Grey's boathouse. Lol

Good morning, ladies. I am in the process of trying to scrounge out a few freebies this morning. So far the search isn't going so well. This first one is set in the Regency period, I believe. The H is a duke; he catches the h snooping around in a military office. The h's brother is missing and she's trying to get information that will help her find him. The premise of the story doesn't sound too bad, but from the first review I gather that the author did a poor job keeping the book historically authentic--which I don't particularly care for. Apparently, phrases like, wild child, joyride, and the like are used throughout the book.

http://smile.amazon.com/Charming-Spy-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Celtic-Skies-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Deception-Lac...

http://smile.amazon.com/Forbidden-Sca...

http://smile.amazon.com/Wait-Me-Sandy...

http://smile.amazon.com/Lady-Henriett...

http://smile.amazon.com/Red-White-Tim...

CELTIC SKIES is book three in the Celtic Steel series. We've had books 1 and 2 on one of our freebie lists previously. The story is set in Ireland. It's about a H, a highlander, who is assigned the position of Chieftain of an Irish Clan by his cousin, who is the Lord of the Irish clan. The h is a member of the clan.

DECEPTION AND LACE is a CR American western. I don't know how this little 74 page book has a digital list price of $5.99 or a paperback price of $9.49, but there you have it. I downloaded a copy and read the ending to make sure there isn't a cliffhanger--there isn't. It's about a h who has to deal with the mess left behind after her father commits suicide and a H who is determined to help the headstrong woman. There are six 5 star and one 4 star review. I have a feeling a number of those are from family and friends. I'm not saying the book is bad, but just from the two pages I read at the end I can already tell the book has issues with editing. Hopefully the story will make up for any and all mistakes.

FORBIDDEN is about a h who is desperate to get her son back. In order to do so she agrees to marry a older, rich, but cruel man. The H is that man's long lost son. When he shows up an illicit romance begins between the h and H. The h is truly an innocent, who has already suffered through one horrible marriage, and who is in a very desperate situation.

WAIT FOR ME sounds fascinating. It's about a modern day h who is living a charmed life. She has even recently married the love of her life, only then to suffer some sort of breakdown. The H is her psychiatrist. The crux of the story is that, "Amy is convinced that she has lived before, not just once, but three times. Furthermore, she believes that she must set right the wrongs of her past or be doomed to repeat the violent and deadly pattern in which she has been caught for over almost two centuries. She also feels a desperate need to find the man with whom she has shared her past, as his lover and as his wife. She is insistent that she must find this man before he suffers the same tragic end which has befallen him three times before." At some point the H and h end up fleeing from the h's husband, who has always played a pivotal role in the h's tragic past. The book apparently goes back in time and tells the stories of the h's three past lives.

LADY HENRIETTA'S DILEMMA is a regency romance about a h who marries a man she thinks she loves, despite the fact that he doesn't share her feelings and refuses to give up his mistress. Don't worry, he's not the H. The H is a man who is determined to have her, who is supposedly a prince, although what his title is is not for certain. FYI, although most of the reviews are glowing, there is one 2 star review written by Sandy Milan that you might want to check out before making your decision whether or not to read this book. Here's the link.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/customer-r...

RED WHITE AND YOU is a time travel romance. It's about a H who travels to present day from the Civil War period. He meets the h, who is a history teacher.

That's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something to tempt your reading palates. TTYL!
