The one I read, you mean? Haha BTW I read ADAM'S PROMISE. Just finished it this morning. Loved it, even though the blasted story went to pot for a while, when Madeline was feeling guilty about taking Adam from Diana and allowing Diana to treat her like crap. I wanted to slap Madeline, even while I felt sorry for her. It ended well though, so I was happy. I wasn't overly keen that Diana ended up with a Viscount, but I was happy, for Madeline's sake, that the two ended up with a better relationship. I hope to write my review later. I noticed YOU didn't write one, ma'am! LOL

Yeah the one you read. It's like an itch I can't scratch. I read too many books to remember the names. I must have read a hundred books with highlander in the name by now. But I can usually recall author.

Glad you liked Adam's Promise. I read it awhile back. I may have reviewed it on nook. I'll check. I wanted to slap Madeline too. Stop sacrificing girl! But sister are friends you never asked for so who knows. Didn't the sister wind up with a one legged viscount or am I in another book? I mean at least she didn't wind up with someone hot.

Yes she did. A viscount who adored her! I had to wonder whether, had she not snagged the viscount, she would have been so magnanimous towards Madeline. I mean, she admitted to getting her memory back the second day after her accident, but she never said a word because she didn't want Madeline to have Adam. She only admitted to remembering everything that happened, including Adam jilting her, AFTER she got the proposal from the viscount. What a selfish bitch! As far as I was concerned, her sudden change of heart was too little too late, and more than a little suspect! Ugh! Oh well, like I said, I was happy because Madeline was happy. I didn't really care for the TWENTY-ONE year difference between Madeline and Alex either. That was a bit much, IMO. All that aside, I still loved the book. Four stars all around! Thanks for the recommendation. I can't believe that I dropped everything else to read that book, AND was up until 1 a.m. this morning! LOL

I definitely thought the sister only let go of Adam gracefully because she had a plan B. Not that Adam was still an option but she was vain an self centered . She believed she could get him back.

Sorry it kept you up but at least you liked it. I hate when a book keeps me up and I end up wondering what was I thinking losing sleep over this dumb trash.

Yes, the loss of sleep was an issue first thing this morning. But I definitely thought it was worth it. Despite my issues, ADAM'S was a great read! Ya, I agree. I don't think Diana would have bowed out so graciously had she not had the viscount to fall back on. I wish Madeline had gotten to give her a piece of her mind. She was just about to lay everything on the line when Diana 'fessed up.

BTW I'm trying to remember the book I was talking about earlier. I'm now going through all my reviews. LOL

You know I almost grabbed Impetuous Miss but in reading the reviews OLT said it missed the mark. Not enough to make me dismiss it--- but under the comments under that review the author said it was her first effort and she didn't like it very much either. Hard to argue with the author.

Kate, I found it!!!! It's Eye of the Beholder. Is that the author's name you mentioned earlier? Damn I gotta go check. Damn it, Kate, you were right! It IS Nordin! But when I did a search in my cloud, using that last name, this book didn't pop up, which is why I didn't think it was one of hers. I own a few other books by the same author. Sorry about that. I hope I haven't had you taxing your brain too much today. ROTFL

I only gave it 3 stars, although I liked the story very much. I think I felt like it was too long. I'd have to reread my review. LOL

Yes Ruth Ann Nordin. I believe there were at least two with those same characters. The bad guy in that one becomes a really good guy in another book. Funny thing about Nordin. She has some really good ideas for her books but falls short in the execution. She just isn't a very good writer IMO. Though I have on more then one occasion got sucked into one of her stories because I liked the premise. In A Bid for a Bride the H is blind and his father who he works with is a a deaf mute. You know I couldn't pass that one up. I think she just needed more formal training. Though it doesn't seem to have hurt her to much.
She has written a few regency also. An Earl's Inconvenient Wife was one. Good premise on that one also. I think I gave it 3 stars on nook.

I totally agree with you, Kate. I read INCONVENIENT too, and I did enjoy it. But like you I think I only gave it 3 stars. The premise was good, but the execution falls short. It's like she has these really, really good ideas for a story, but then doesn't know how to carry it all the way through. That's a pity.

I gave EYE OF THE BEHOLDER 3 1/2 stars. I loved the premise and really liked the characters, especially the H, but the story was too long and drawn out. It read like A Year in the Life of. Nothing exciting really happened. Instead, the story just sort of flitted from one minor event to another. The best part of the story was when the guy who rejected her got screwed over by his "beautiful" wife. LOL I actually felt sorry for the bastard...and that NEVER happens! Is he the H in the next book you're talking about?

Here's today's freebie list, ladies.

http://smile.amazon.com/Moths-Butterf...

http://smile.amazon.com/Degrees-Hope-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Wessingham-Aw...

That's it for today, ladies. FYI, the KING-GOD title is a continuing series, I believe. I also think it's on the erotic side, so it can be read as a stand-alone sweet treat! LOL I'm actually going to read it and write a review. It's ashamed that up until now, no one has written a review and this is at least the second time that the book has been offered for free. I feel bad, because I got it a while back, but haven't read or reviewed it. Dunno why, but if I get a book for free and it's not reviewed I feel an obligation to R&R. Is that weird?

The DEGREES OF HOPE is written by the same author who wrote MURDER AT LOCKE ABBEY that I enjoyed so much, not great, but good. She also wrote that controversial CONVENIENT BRIDE that was a freebie a few days back--remember the one I didn't particularly care for because it was modernish? LOL

I didn't really check out the other titles listed, so check to make sure you don't end up in pitfalls, such as continuing series that you have to shell out big bucks for, like poor EB did a few days ago. Although I think she enjoyed the books so much, she thought it was worth it! Haven't heard how you liked WAR, EB.

WESSINGHAM AWAITS is the second book in a continuing series. There are five books in all. Amazon periodically offers the books for free, typically in order. I have all the books, except the last one, which I've never seen offered for free--unfortunately. Noreen already posted this freebie yesterday, but I figured I'd add it to today's list as it is still free. If you got book one, which was on the freebie list a few days ago, make sure you grab this one, and be patient, book 3 will be along soon! BTW, Kate all the WESSINGHAM titles are available in KU...just in case you're interested.

Have a nice day!

RF-The follow up to Eye was His Redeeming Bride. Bad guy Neil"s wife has left him for a rich man. She has left their child behind and Neil has turned his life around trying to be a good father. He also rescues a very pregnant woman. It actually had more of a story going for it then Eye did. The story picks up seven years later so the transition from horror Neil to Hero Neil are smoother then you think. As usual her stories have some original ideas. They just lack polish.

By the way ladies I don't know if anyone is interested but storycartel.com gives free books for review also.

Thanks for the tip, Kate. I actually wouldn't mind reading Neil's story. Like I said, by the time EYE ended, I felt sorry for the poor bastard. I figured the selfish heifer would leave him. She was a complete horror! BTW, if I remember correctly, the baby she had, it wasn't Neil's right? Didn't she become a mail order bride because she was in the family way, but poor Neil didn't know it?

RF Ok Miss I need to know the ending. It's not Neil's child but he loves her and has been the primary parent for years. Then beautiful wife shows up because she can't have children with rich guy and there is a custody battle. Then of course there is the pregnant girl story. She of course becomes the new love interest for Neil. She is scared to death of him in the beginning because of his rep. That's all I'm going to say. Read the book.

But this is what I meant about Nordin. She is the only writer I know who I don't think is particularly good at writing but I buy her books for the original plots. As opposed to many other writers who have the ability to make a story have pace and finish but use cookie cutter tropes.

She's like junk food. If you went to someone's home and they handed you a Whopper on a plate you'd struggle through and send them a cook book for Xmas. But when your standing in Burger King you wish the line would move faster because you can't wait to plunk down your money.

OK, I have responses to so many comments I decided not to "reply" to any one person, but to do a general comment in reply to all y'all's comments.

First of all, Kate, OMG! See how a person's character gets maligned!!! I wasn't asking for the ending of Neil's story...LOL I was asking about the ending of EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. Although Neil may not have realized it, I think other characters figured out that his beauteous wife's child was not his. That being said, I do thank you for the spoiler info regarding Neil's story, because of course, when I get around to that book I would've been asking for some anyway. So, I guess I can't hide behind feigned innocence and outrage at the fact that you think I was asking about the ending of Neil's story. ROTFL

EB, I read the KING-GOD freebie from this morning. I'm almost done, then I plan to do a review, after which I will read the book I have to review for Naughty Girls...is that the name of the blog? LOL

EB and Noreen, I'm glad you were able to find books on the list that interested you. I REALLY REALLY need to go through and organize my books. I was checking out a .99 cent set of medieval romances by Le Veque, when I did a search for the individual titles I realized that i actually owned a couple of the books! It's so bad now that I have books I don't even know I own...how sad is that? So, I have decided to devote some time to creating collections for my books on my kindle device to organize them. I will also create a TBR list for the books that I most want to read. Hopefully, that will get me on the right track to being organized. I love the feature of the newer kindles that allow us to create collections now, although I do see that I could have done that all along using the free Kindle app I have on my computer.

Kate, I'm good with you getting the "disabled" section of my library. LOL Have you read SCANDAL AT DAWN by Elizabeth Cole? It's a regular freebie and I'm sure it's been on one of other of our lists. It's a novella with a blind heroine. Short, but sweet. The H is a rogue who falls hard for the h. He was sooooo sweet with her. Sigh I see it's not free anymore, but it's available on KU. Here's the link.

http://www.amazon.com/Scandal-Dawn-Re...

What about that book, Silent Revenge? The h in that is deaf I think, or is she mute? Not sure, but she's one or the other. That's available on KU also.

http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Revenge-...

There's another one that I know of. It's a Love Inspired Romance...do you read those? The h is blind. She and the H were childhood sweethearts, separated by her wealthy parents in a most cruel manner. Five years later he's back, she's blind, and the romance goes from there. It was super, super sweet, but I can't remember the name. Gotta give it some thought.

OK, I think I'm done chit chatting now. Back to my book, KING-GOD'S CONCUBINE. LOL

Ladies~ I don't know why I address these any of you can respond. Naughty Girls is the right name. Laura Landon the author of Silent Revenge also did a book called Intimate Deception. LOL! I have to laugh because Lark and I read t around the same time and the H is a bit of a worrier. I thought it was sweet but Alicia was overwhelmed by his constant worrying. Kate, I'm confused...which book did you read and not like? You typed "Silent Revenge" twice. I've never read SILENT REVENGE, but I have read Landon's Intimate Deception. I absolutely LOVED that book! The h decides to lose her virginity in order to avoid an abhorrent marriage--it was truly awful. She goes to a childhood friend, who is now a madam, and she sets the h up with one of her establishment's clients--the H. The H is a duke; he has lost two wives in childbirth, and both babies. He has vowed to never get married again, nor to impregnate another woman. Of course he realizes the h is a virgin and demands to know who she really is and goes to find her. From there the story continues. I don't think it would be a spoiler to tell you that the h did get pregnant. Anyhow, Vincent is a worry wart, and Lark thought it got a bit tiresome. I, however, loved him!!

Yes, I know the story wasn't totally original, but then what romance novel ever is. It was obvious, for instance, that the h would end up pregnant. That was the whole reason for the two being pushed together. But for the baby, there would have been no book! LOL Yes, I know Vincent worried a lot, but for chrissakes, he had lost TWO WIVES and TWO BABIES to childbirth. I think he was entitled to a bit of over worrying. LOL What I found a tiny bit tiresome, was Grace's promising him that she would be fine. I mean, there was no way for her assure that she kept that promise--unless she knew that she was the character in a romance novel?? ROTFL

No I get what your saying about the storyline. The predictability I was referring to was the love scenes. I guess boring would be a better word. His worry was validated with what he knew I got that. I did like the story it had a great villain to work me up. Sometimes the more evil the villain the more engrossed I get. I have to see him get his comeuppance. I'm evil that way. No not really. LOL

LOL The only "bad" guy I ever felt sorry for, was Neil in EYE OF THE BEHOLDER...he's the one who rejected the h when she showed up as his mail order bride! Said she was too plain! Ugh

kate | 203 comments Ok Ladies Intimate Deceptions would not have been a book I would have picked. The whole losing her virginity in a whore house seems way off base. But since you two like it and the reviews were pretty good I 'm giving it a try. Had to bump one of my books off KU to get it.

Was that on the freebies a while back. I tend to steer clear of the mail order bride theme. I jut don't think I'd like them. It kind of creeps me out like an early form of human trafficking. I knew a Greek man who I worked with and he wanted a Greek wife s he sent to the old country and got a Greek woman who was half his age and basically was raised like a Greek lady should be. A super sweet lady who did her husbands bidding. She made everything from scratch plus she worked part time that's how I met her. He however was an asshole. Maybe that's what turned me off. LOL

Yes I read Unashamed I really liked the couple. Gave it 3.5 stars. My favorite book by Sophia James was Border lord I think that was a 5 star for me. The h had a limp.scars and psoriasis. On top of that the groom thinks she killed his brother. This is a gal that has a lot of obstacles to overcome. Need I say in the end he is crazy about her.

Yeah, I'm surprised I liked Adam's so much. The h didn't even have a few small scars. Border Lord is a favorite of mine though.

LOL Okay, Kate, you get the whole section. I have to tell you that when I was a young middle school student we read Helen Keller and I was so impressed that I studied the alphabet hand signs in the back until I could sign the alphabet. I still remember most of it too. :)

I think you're referring to EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, EB? No it wasn't on the freebie list...at least not recently. I got it for free and read it several months ago. I figured the mail-order bride theme wasn't you're thing. I know you're not really into the historical western genre and most mail-order bride novels fall into that category.
