Whew I just finished and did my review. I really liked the ending. I know you see that element of surprise in movies all the time but I really was pleasantly surprised when he gave his location. I could have ate him up of course G had the same idea and beat me to it. ROTFLMBO. It was really cute especially G's heart comment at the end. Very nice and now I'm off to read Hot Pursuit. I may take you up on 4 and 5. Is there anything that may turn me off about this one? You sounded surprised that I was going to read it.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Okay I started the book the book this morning and now know why you were surprised. I think I'll pull back on this one. IDK know what to read now. I can't remembered I have quit twice reading this but can't remember what caused my change. I remember their past and I do remember it started to get better but I stopped again. Right now I'm not feeling a book that's almost 400 pages. That may change but for now I am stopping with Hot Pursuit. I just read your review and it makes me want to have the same experience and when I wasn't before it wasn't cool. sigh

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I got called into work to do an 11-11 shift. Yeah! I got a three hour shift yesterday and then o got my weekend girl. I'll get 36 hours this week so far. Great way to start off my week if I could just get a book that spikes my interest. Maybe I'll take baby love with me. Girls the dark lord may rise again with the release of Stalker tomorrow. I am so indecisive about it I think the only way to fix it is to go in. I've been back and fourth and now it's arrived and I'm just at that point where I think I'll need to go there to satisfy my curiosity. Either way it goes for me I can't hold it against the author she's gave her warning so I can't blame anyone if it doesn't end well. Lol. I go from such a protective H like Sam McKnight to this evil sex God Pheonix. What is up... I like variety I guess. Hope all is well for you all it looks like more rain here. Great day to be at work.

Hey EB! I'm so sorry, but I've been caught up doing these blasted pencil boxes! Ugh! My daughter has her school birthday celebration tomorrow so I've had to get them done. The problem is--at least according to my husband--that I am too much of a perfectionist. He says they are for kids and they will love them so I should get a grip. Please! Anyhow, I'm just about done. I just got done putting the finishing touches on the ones I had left and there is one that I decided to do over from scratch...I didn't like the way one of the dogs looked like a sheep! ROTFL

Anyhow, once I get done I will send you an email with pics. Do you happen to have Rachel's email? If you do I figured it would be easier if you sent it to me via email rather than post it here, which is why I asked you and not her for. I guess I could post pics on my FB page too, but don't wanna do that today. I'm friend with a bunch of the parents whose kids are in Hannah's class and she wants her goodie to be a surprise. LOL

And NO, no reading for days!!!! I'm gonna get back with the program as soon as I'm done with this art project. As for HOT PURSUIT. What is it that you don't like? I know I couldn't stand the H in the beginning. He just seemed too cocky and I hated their history together. I had to remind myself that he was a typical, selfish teenager and make myself look past that. Once you get over the initial dislike he's a great guy...I promise. It's true that Evie does a lot of stupid shit--read the other reviews to see reader complaints--but I could still see things from her point of view. :-)

Let me know if you want book 4 or 5. In four the h is the widow of one of the guys who was killed in the prologue of book 1. We never met him. In 5 the H and h meet up again a few years after the H saved the h. She contacts him now because someone has kidnapped their son--the son the H never knew he had. I think the h is a pop star. BTW STAY AWAY FROM THE DARK SIDE!!!!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol. RF I forgot about your crafts. I just got concerned other things were going on. We have had so much rain and our basement had issues but thank god we have a drain to solve that problem. I'm reading Annie's Song and omg Rachel wasn't kidding it is so good I am totally addicted. I have been reading so many books and have been pretty busy so I just quit reading for some reason I know I made it through and started to see a better H in him but I can't remember why I stopped and switched to something else. I can't help it I keep feeling seduced by that book Stalker it comes out tomorrow. I entered a contest for a chance to win an ebook.

You are STALKER! LOL Anyhow, I do remember you started reading AS then stopped. I think by then you'd read so many of CA's books in a row that maybe you just needed a break.

Yes, I'm finally done with my boxes. They turned out pretty good...if I do say so myself. LOL I'll send pics in a few. Glad to hear you're enjoying your book. I plan to resume reading TETON SUNRISE now that I've finally finished my project. FYI she's reading my comment over my shoulder as I type. I miss the days when she couldn't read! Sigh!

Hey ladies. Just in case y'all think I've been slacking off...I haven't. At least not completely. LOL I did do a quick run through of the freebie historical section today, but didn't find anything new of worth. Now that my art project has been completed, I should be back in full swing tomorrow. At least, that's my plan. TTYL!

I hope ya'll have been reading some goodies! I have that Hot Pursuit book on my TBR so hopefully it ends up being good for you EB.

Hi Rachel. I think EB gave up on HP for now. I read it and enjoyed it; although I did have some issues with the H in the very beginning...stuff to do with him when he was a teenager. LOL Anyhow, WHY are you making boiled shrimp if you don't like seafood?

BTW did you get the email with the pics of the pencil boxes? I sent it to you and EB, but I'm suspicious that the damn thing might be lost out in cyber space because I attached FOUR pics to it. It probably had a fit! LOL

I haven't read a word for almost a week! Now that my project is done I plan to get back to some semblance of normalcy...just in time for the kids to be at home. My daughter's last day of school is this Thursday. Sigh!

OMG! YOU'RE the awesome one! You made seafood for your hubby even though it makes you sick! That's pretty amazing! What is it; the smell, the taste...you're not allergic, are you? And HOW can you live in NO and not eat SEAFOOD?! That's almost sacrilegious! LOL

Thanks! I do think they turned out pretty nice. It was quite a project, though, mostly because I was learning as I went along. It would be much easier for me to do something similar another time. I know, right?! I get teased all the time about not liking it. In this case it's the smell and .... the fact that they have little shrimp eyes. It's like cooking a whole animal! I never realized how bad I can't stand that smell until today. I literally had tears in my eyes. LMAO He better appreciate that crap!

Good morning, ladies! Here are a few freebies for today...as promised! LOL This first one is set in the 1970's. Isn't it depressing that stories set in the 70's are now considered historicals?

CONQUER MY HEART is a medieval romance. The H takes over the h's lands and she disguises herself as a nun. She then plays the part of nun by day and outlaw by night, as she fights against the H's invasion of her family's lands. From the first review it seems that the story does include some humor to lighten the plot.

TO RIGHT A WRONG is about a h who's guardian uncle sends her and her sister to be "ladies' companions" after their parents die...in reality he sold them into prostitution. According to the first review it was basically white slavery and the h was repeatedly raped for the period of time she was so employed--one year. The h and her sister escape with the intent of going to their mother's family, who had disowned their mother when she married beneath her. In any event, along the way she meets the H. From the blurb it sounds like he is intent on helping her, BUT according to the first review he was a big time jerk who, once he found out she'd been sold into prostitution, refused to help the h unless she bedded him...did I mention she's a rape victim? Anyhow, that is that reviewers take on the story. The first two reviews are 1 and 2 stars, and I didn't get any further than that. There are several positive reviews, but no matter your take on the H, the subject matter does sound a bit grim. Check it out and decide for yourselves.

By contrast, COURTING DORY is supposed to be a sweet historical western about a h who is traveling west to meet up with her father. Along the way she stops at a town and meets the H who wants to marry her.

LARKEN is a repeat freebie. It was on our list back in October. I read it and liked it very much...gave it 4 stars, if I remember correctly. It's about a h and H who enter an arranged marriage and eventually find love. This is a novella of just over 150 pages.

SAVANNAH'S BLUEBIRD is about a h and H who have been star crossed for decades. After finally overcoming all the obstacles, they have set a wedding date, but...This book is set in the 1930's. I was thinking that maybe it's a continuation of a story, but that does not appear to be the case. Be aware, one review said this was a good book with a sad ending. I'm not sure what that means...no HEA maybe?

ALREK is about a Viking H who is injured and found by the h, a Pict. She takes him home and nurse him back to health, but with him being a hated Viking and she a Pict a future together doesn't seem possible. This is a novella; under 100 pages. BTW this book is by my beloved Samantha Holt...I just noticed that! LOL

EYES OF THE HEART is set during the Civil Rights Era. According to the blurb, it's a story about forgiveness, love, fear and hate. It is also a story about Edith Holden, a young woman living in the deep south who finds herself unwillingly confronted with racism, social injustice and her love for a man she is unsure she will ever have.

A SLIP IN TIME is a time travel romance. It's about a h from the Victorian period, who travels back in time to h Highlands during the medieval period. She finds love with a laird.

LOVE WITHOUT RULES is a contemporary romance. It was on our freebie list back in January.

FAIR BORDER BRIDE is a medieval romance about love between a H an h, one of whom is English the other Scottish. This is during a time when the two countries were mortal enemies. The H is caught up in the middle of a reiver's raid; he is left for dead. The h finds him and hides him, but when her father finds out he threatens to kill the H. The H manages to escape; the h hopes he will return for her before she is forced to marry a neighbor's son.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Thanks RF pencil boxes are adorable. My clients family came yesterday and made things awkward. They don't want our companies services bc they found a British speaking lady to live in for cheaper. She belittled me more or less and so I had no use for that dimwit. My client jumped all over her son bc she said she didn't want to see me lose my job. That turned into him wanting to say more and the new caregiver interjecting things and so I stepped from the room to give them some privacy. That went well. Lol. I told the son she wouldn't eat for me bc she was waiting for him to bring her something. Then he says am I stepping on your toes making her food? I smiled and told him I'm sorry I couldn't get her to eat. I thought things were fine but then the son left and never even said goodbye when I walked him to the door. The new caregiver informed me she's done it for years and she smokes and would get along splendidly. Told me she will turn on the air and will have to deal with it. Lol. Then proceeded to ask me questions about her. Well at any rate I did try to reassure her and the family that they have to make choices that work for them. I told my client I hope your son wasn't offended when I announced I would give them privacy. It was just a bad situation all the way around. My client said she felt it was awkward too and neither of us were aware. But AS is really getting good so I'm off. Hi Rachel!! I love seafood. Red Lobster is where I went after the FSOG movie. Yum!

EB that sounded like a really awkward situation; I think you handled it beautifully! Who cares what the son thought. He was the one who was rude enough to raise the question of replacing you IN YOUR PRESENCE! How else were you supposed to react? Sounds like you were really professional. There is no reason for you to be present for what should have been a private family moment. HE was the one who should have known better than to raise the question while you were there. He should have waited to discuss it in private with his mother. Once the decision was made then you and/or your agency should have been informed. Ugh!

I haven't gotten back to reading as yet; I've been doing housework today, and Lucian started his swimming lessons yesterday, so I have to stop in the middle of my day to take him. LOL Gonna run out to pick up Hannah from school in a few. Glad to hear you're enjoying AS. Have you succumbed to the temptation of STALKER as yet? LOL TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments RF you know me so well. My husband bought me a $30 GC for Amazon. What do you think when my FB is plastered with Pheonix naked and inked. I read some reviews and apparently the end made their jaw drop. His real name is Miles and from what I read they went to school together. That's how they met he was a foster kid that was made to feel like a piece of shit. She was really mean to him but it was the only way to protect him. I guess once that secret is out things change and Vanessa is not the sweet little thing she was in Killer. She is said to be as bad as him. I'm finishing AS and you have got to read it it is such a beautiful story. Annie is deaf but can hear certain pitches. Everyone thought she was touched until she gets brutally raped. The brother of the man ends up marrying her when the parents tell him she's pregnant. He is so worried in the beginning and sort of regrets it until he discovers she's not crazy but deaf. He is such a man after that as his mission is to make her life 100% better than before and he falls in love with her. When they tell her she's not getting fat but having a baby. She thinks she is going to lay eggs and will need to sit on them. Lmao what an image that creates.

AS is a CR isn't it? And who is the H the rapist's brother? It sounds like a really good book. I'm gonna check my library's website to see if they have it.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yeah it's CR and yes the brother is worthless and once the H, Alex, learns what he did he gives him the boot. He then confronts Annie's parents (they're a piece of work) and apologizes for what his brother did. Alex is so sweet to her. I hope your library has it

So people thought she was "touched" not deaf? In this day and age? Wow! Her parents don't sound they are the brightest. Didn't they think to have her checked out. It's sounds like a modern day version of NEVER SEDUCE A SCOT...remember that h was deaf and her family thought she was touched too. But that was medieval times, so I can understand their ignorance. Anyhow, there isn't an e-book version of the book so I'm gonna have to look for a hardcopy at the library. Even though I don't like to read actual books anymore; I much prefer reading on my kindle! It sounds too good to miss out on though.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I'm sorry it is based in 1890. My bad. The time period is not crammed down your throat in fact Annies father is more worried about his political career than what his daughter went through. He was a judge and I guess in my mind it did give it a CR feel. I never questioned that people now would have handled it different however the brother who assaults her are in any time period.

That makes more sense, but I can understand the confusion...up until now all the CA novels you've read have been contemporary, haven't they? I didn't even realize that she wrote historical books. Now that you say that, however, I'll have to check her inventory; I'd be surprised if I hadn't read something by her in the past. I'm gonna check for it when I take the kids to the library. We'll be living there during the summer, I'm sure. LOL

Like ordering pizza without the calories. Silver thaw was my second favorite bc I think this one has passed it but there are still parts in silver thaw that I adored. LOL Sounds like fun. I WISH the scrubbing bubbles would do all the work! Honestly, I've never checked out the library's website. I don't read books anymore; strictly kindle. There was a period of several years where I didn't read at all...it started when my daughter was first born. I didn't read again until around 2012; that's a period of about five years! Can you imagine existing that long without a book?! But I was so busy with her and then my son that I never really thought about it. By the time we moved here to MA I'd just started reading my Kindle. I have borrowed books once or twice from the library for myself, but not more than that. Besides, when my kids go they like to play and hang out for a while, so I'll have plenty of time to check the library's computer. I guess I should learn to do it online though, that sounds super easy!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I go on my libraries home screen and do my search just like I would if I were there. Then if I want it I push request. It will ask for your library card #. That's it I usually get a call later on in the day that tells me the merchandise I requested is ready. Now if they need to get it from another library that's different. I go in and talk with information for that. My library had some audio CA that I could have got or ordered more specific books. Maybe you should see if you can get in audio that might work better for you since you don't like books.

Good morning, ladies. I'm currently going through the freebie section on Amazon. Let's see what I can scrounge up today. This first one, PRODIGAL, is an other world, time travel, fantasy type story. Not sure about the romance aspect. It's about two factions that are at war in another world. The h has no memory of her past, but these memories begin to come to the surface. In order to secure her future she must trust a man who, up until that point, was her mortal enemy. This is book 2 in the series. The first book in the series is about a brother and sister--the brother is the boyfriend of the h in this book. I'm not sure if you can read this book without having read the first...one reviewer suggests that, while you could possibly catch on to the storyline, it would be better if you read book one before reading this one. It certainly sounds intriguing and different. Definitely no run of the mill romance!

http://smile.amazon.com/Prodigal-Lost...

http://smile.amazon.com/Love-Intense-...

http://smile.amazon.com/War-Torn-Love...

http://smile.amazon.com/Ranchers-Relu...

http://smile.amazon.com/Highlander-Ro...

http://smile.amazon.com/Peaceful-Love...

http://smile.amazon.com/Bright-Scound...

http://smile.amazon.com/Last-Years-Br...

I LOVE IT is a set of six "intense" stories. They are on the erotic side. The stories range in length from short story to novella. There isn't much information about the set; I don't even know which stories are included or what each is about. The blurb is pretty useless and the reviews don't contain much more information.

WAR TORN LOVE is set during the Hitler war in the year 1939. It's about a Polish H and h who strive to survive the horrors of that war, while maintaining their love for one another.

THE RANCHER'S RELUCTANT BRIDE is a western novella; it's listed as an inspirational story. The h is a widow; she survived a horrible marriage. She moves to Texas to get a fresh start and has sworn off men and marriage. The H is smitten with the h as soon as he lays eyes on her and tries to convince her to marry him. When tragedy strikes and leaves him guardian to his best friend's daughter, he asks the h for help. I'm not sure if this happened before or after he met the h, but...

SHADOW'S PROMISE is a romance between a white h and a Native American H.

HIGHLAND WHISPER sounds like a really cute short story--it's just over twenty pages long. It's about a H who has been in love with one particular woman who he met when he was 16. Since then no other woman can compare to the h. Now he's in his 30's and is ready to get married, he goes off on a quest to find the woman of his dreams. Now, I'm ASSUMING that this is a complete story; however, it's listed as a saga. On the other hand, neither of the two reviews mention anything about a cliffhanger. I will download and check it out for myself. If it's a cliffhanger, I will of course let you know.

PEACEFUL LOVE is a set of four mail order brides short stories.

BRIGHT SCOUNDREL is touted as the "classic rake and spinster clash with a paranormal twist." Here's an excerpt from the blurb...Notorious womanizer Kieran O'Flaherty flees to his ancestral home in Ireland to escape the scandal attached to his name. The London papers have it wrong, Kieran doesn’t seduce women--they always come to him. He’s a druid, in tune with the forces of nature, so is it his fault that women find him alluring? When he arrives at Roisin Dubh Castle he finds a woman in charge of the estate, a prickly spinster determined to challenge him at every turn. He likes the challenge Rose presents, as she seems to be the only woman immune to his charms.

LAST YEAR'S BRIDE is a contemporary romance. It's about a h and H who had an impromptu marriage in Vegas a year ago. Since then they have lived apart and have not told anyone about their marriage.

Well, that's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something that appeals to you. TTYL!

I would just like to say before I go in that the previous story was fantastic read for me and stimulated that puzzle solving part of my brain and the end blew my mind. It was so good for me in fact it over shadowed the H's lack of faithfulness. I mean you know how I am and I believe if a man cheats on his wife and cheats on his girl friend that he will not hesitate to cheat on you too. That being said he does have to prove that he has remorse but the question remains will he? Okay deep breath...I'm going in! God it's just a book. Lol. I'd say I need to get a life but I love my life as is even if others thinks it's pathetic it's who I am. Okay enough stalling I'm really going in this time. Hi Rachel and Kate don't forget about me. TTY in a bit I'm sure. I'll keep you posted.

Please, EB! If an author is worth his or her salt the reader is supposed to get caught up in the story; this even though on an intellectual level we know it's fiction. The same is true of movies...who wants to go to a scary movie where you don't get scared because you KNOW it's fake? Where's the fun in that? LOL So, you go ahead and enjoy your story. I just hope the characters don't piss you off too much. LOL I'm gonnna try to read a few words tonight. :-)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments So far so good ladies I've read off and on with squeezing in a 4 mile walk and laundry I've reached 30%. It is smoking and erotic as heck. Don't misunderstand me it's dark as he has her locked in a cage in the attic. The flashbacks tell you how they met as kids and what happened between them. So far as kids there is no hate it's just two kids that want to be friends and her parents wanting to keep her away from him. Her parents are stricked with her. Once she had to walk with books on her head and when they fell off the mother slapped the hell out of her. Pheonix watched from a tree and could hear her screaming across a street. Arthur is dead, I think. Pheonix said he stabbed him and he's probably bled to death in the yard but nothing is certain yet. I hope you got some reading in RF

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments But don't feel bad for Arthur bc in the beginning he and Vanessa have and argument bc he does nothing but run his dead brothers company. It's a movie company and Vanessa is an actress. Anyhow Arthur forgot her birthday and she is hiding some bruises on her face. It isn't clear how she got the bruises but in their argument Arthur breaks it off and leaves. That's when Vanessa gets a bag slung over her head and taken to the attic. But When Pheonix brings up Arthur and tells her his fate he says don't cry over him if you knew what he was planning or doing you wouldn't feel sad. He hasn't told her yet what that is. It's said that four years have passed since she gave the glass of poison to her husband. I'm getting tired so I think I'll quit tonight but I really want to keep reading.

That does sound dark, EB! And totally unlike you. LOL Glad you're enjoying it. I didn't manage to get any reading done as yet; I've decided that I have to at least get the downstairs of my house cleaned before I reward myself with some reading time. That should get done today.

Good morning, ladies! Here are a few freebies for today. The HR section is getting worse everday. It's inundated with erotica, most of which sound extremely weird. Furthermore, a majority of them aren't even historical so I have no idea why they pop up in a HR search. Sigh. Oh well, I'll have to suffer through I guess. This first book is a mail order bride romance. It's about a widowed h who has two children. She is desperate to escape the influence of her late husband's family and decides to become a mail order bride. The H needs a ready made family for political reasons.

http://smile.amazon.com/Nellie-Brides...

http://smile.amazon.com/Oceans-Justic...

http://smile.amazon.com/Stranger-Para...

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...

http://smile.amazon.com/Unnatural-Dau...

OCEAN'S JUSTICE is about a h who is rescued from the sea by the H, who is an engineer on the ship. When she can't tell the crew her story they make up their own stories and become convinced that she is bad luck and want to toss her back overboard. The H is an engineer who boarded the ship for adventure; he strives to protect the h. Oops! BEWARE this book ends in a cliffhanger. Normally I wouldn't include in on the list, but I figure, what the heck! Someone might find it intriguing enough to read it.

STRANGER IN PARADISE is the second book in the Home Front series. We've had book one, SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, on a previous freebie list. FYI, SJ is still available for free! STRANGER is about a journalist H who finds love with a fellow journalist--the h is British--and takes her back to his hometown of New York. This story is set during the post war era...SJ was set during the war. For your convenience I've also provided the link for SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY.

AN UNNATURAL DAUGHTER is listed as a dark regency, and it certainly sounds like it. The h marries a man at her father's request. Three days later she flees her marital home, leaving her husband for dead. She then finds happiness with the family she always wished for, until her father shows back up in her life. He has been beaten pretty badly. He begs her to return to her husband. When she does she finds a man who is scarred and bent on revenge; he demands one life in retribution, the h's or her father's. The story certainly does sound dark. This is a new book; no reviews so far. The author has four books listed on Amazon, none of which have been reviewed so far.

That's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something that appeals to you. This next link is to Jennifer McQuiston's book, AN ACCIDENTAL WALLFLOWER. It's currently available for .99cents. I think the regular price is somewhere around $5 or $6. TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Thanks RF! I got the accidental Wallflower bc I love my wallflower stories. I also got E L James new book from Christian Grey's POV. I can't wait to read that one either. I got a message too that I won a $5 Amazon GC from Clarissa Wild along with swag. I don't know what my options are on that so Im waiting to hear back on that. I hope you get some reading in. I got all my laundry and house work done so that is done on my end. I may have to go grocery shopping later but that is all. Last night I stayed up a little longer to read and now its gotten to the part when Miles(Pheonix) and Vanessa are 13-14 yrs old. He is starting to hang out with the wrong crowd and Vanessa told him she has to go after their first kiss. It was their first kiss ever. That is when his obsession began I'm sure. I'm waiting for her to show that other side. She's not innocent but still appears so sweet. When you say this is so unlike me you should know I left somethings out. The erotic part was Pheonix telling her she had a choice either pain or pleasure. So she's in this tight fitting cage and he cuts the straps of her dress off so the top part of her dress falls. Than he makes her lift her skirt and pleasure herself. Believe when I say she says she don't like him but clearly she does. Long story short he ends up getting off, complete with a barbell of sorts through his penis, and when his completion happens he does it on her. I mean in her face and leaves her like that. LOL. I am really sick bc I laughed. Anyhow her assistant showed up at the house and had an appointment with Vanessa so Pheonix had to trick her inside and now has her up in the attic to show her where Vanessa is at. I flipped to the end and apparently Paige (assistant) gets locked in a closet. LOL. Okay I' off

OMG, EB! That books sound horrible. You've really gone dark side now. BTW switch your profile pic back to Darth Vader while you're reading this book...that way we will all get a visual warning of what you're up to. ROTFL!! And NO, I have NOT been reading! Still doing housework! Ugh

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol I'm one step ahead of you. I changed my profile the day I started reading Stalker. Didn't you tell me once you read Stephen King? He was super dark in Misery the sheriff was buried up to his neck and ran over with a lawn mower. At least there are no lawn mowers, yet. Lol I hope your house doesn't take all day

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Okay so Arthur is the one beating Vanessa and he also put out a hit on her. The thing is Vanessa's parents introduced her to Phillip(dead husband) when they were 14. The mother told her if she mentioned Miles again she'd have him killed told her Phillip would make the perfect husband. She was in love with him but was forced to end it and IDK how that ended haven't got that far yet.

Okay, so EVERYONE is the story is a psycho?!!! What kind of parents did she have?! No wonder she's so screwed up. And yes, I did read and LOVE Stephen King, BUT those were not supposed to be romantic. :-)

Yes my house is gonna take all freaking day...I have to leave in a few minutes to take Lucian to his swimming lesson, then I have to get Hannah from school. It's last day and a half day at that. Then when I get home I can finish cleaning, but with two kids I the house, how do you think that's gonna go...NOT GOOD! Ugh! Well look, so long as you like your book that's all that matter. Hearing about it and reading it for yourself are two different experiences. I guess that's why I can't understand why people complain so much if they get even a tiny bit of spoiler information. Reading the book is supposed to be better than a summary--which is all some reviews are. If not, then the author is seriously lacking. Don't you think?

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yeah I get that but CW does say it not traditional but the feel is like Romeo and Juliet with the family keeping them apart. The parents are all about money and marrying to further their agenda not for her feelings. Miles is from the wrong side of the tracks and bc of a series of events is forced to believe the only way to gain control is through violence. He has shown a weakness for her but his pain from her is so great along with being shown no love his whole life that it is romantic. I'll agree murder is never acceptable but IDK it not what stands out. It's the two of them being caught up in this game and all the two ever really wanted was to be together. She said as much to her mother once. The end if you want to hear now.......................... The two throw everyone else to the side and take off in a stolen care like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Paige does live so he doesn't kill her. She actually lectures him on not killing innocents. Lol.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments So I finished my book last night. Vanessa finally confided in Miles. It was prom night and she went with Phillip. She sees Miles dancing with someone else a decides to go outside for some air. This is when a friend of Phillips approaches Vanessa half drunk. Phillip is right there when he begins fondling her and does nothing as she screams for his help. It is Miles who comes from nowhere and beats the crap out of him. They get in s car together and get away. Vanessa couldn't understand why he was even there bc it's not his thing and then he tells her that he heard the two of them talking and Phillip had told that guy it would be fine and so Miles came just to be there when the time came. This gets the two talking and one thing leads to another and he ends up being her first. They don't clarify if she is his but when he drops her off that night her mom confronts her. Low and behold Phillip is there with her and the mother tells her she will forget about what Phillip did and marry him as planned and forget Miles. Tells her she will go to school and when asked tell them Miles started the fight or she will have him killed. So the two work things out present time for about 12 hours and then she begins to doubt his feelings and when she tries to leave he can't believe it. The two fight some more him taking a bullet to the shoulder. Lol. He thinks she's played him again but she tells him you were going to let me go to jail for my husbands murder when you did it. Then here it comes Miles says you contacted my company and put a hit on your husband. Lol. Are you kidding me. Then you remember that she goes in the closet. With him in Killer and waits to see Phillips reaction right. And it's then you realize Phillip would have known him too and that had to make for a worse sting bc he was her first. So the two end up laughing and decide they're meant for one another and it's then you find out Arthur is not dead and he comes to finish the job cause he's not going out like this. Of course she kills him. She ends up being taken to the hospital and her "loving" parents hover at her bedside telling her to get her rest she's going to need it they're bringing friends in tomorrow. Once gone she sneaks out and meets up with Miles and the two leave together to raise hell with no intention of ever telling her parents where she is. She changes her name the whole bit. It was cute ending IMO. Twisted but the two finally got to be together without anyone messing with that.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. This first book is the third in the Montana Mail Order Brides series. We've had books one and two on previous freebie lists.

A NIGHT OF SECRETS sounds pretty intriguing. The H returns to England from war in the Americas to discover his sister has been murdered and his niece is missing. All over the country his friends are mysteriously disappearing. The H sets out to discover the truth and find his niece. All clues lead to the h, a vicar's daughter. The H believes the h is innocent, but the evidence indicates that she's not. The H is drawn to the h. Unknown to him, the h is hiding the niece, due to a promise she made to keep the little girl safe.

FORGIVEN is set in early 1900's San Francisco. Here is the book's description... The daughter of an outlaw, Kula is soon swept up in a world of art and Forgiven – a world she hardly dared dream of back in Montana. She meets the handsome David Wong, whose smiling eyes and soft-spoken manner have an uncanny way of breaking through Kula’s carefully crafted reserve. Yet when a mighty earthquake strikes and the wreckage threatens all she holds dear, Kula realizes that only by unlocking her heart can she begin to carve a new future for herself.

SWAN'S SONG is set during the roaring 20's. Here's the book blurb...Surrounded by bullets and blood, gangsters and empty promises, singer Adrian Marcone navigates Chicago's seedy underworld by keeping men at bay and her heart on ice. But trouble is brewing and the city is on the brink of war, calling a new soldier into the ranks. One who is dark, deadly, and so much more. So many things Adrian can't deny. Now the city is heating up, Adrian is thawing, and she'll learn that fate will not be denied. That some melodies, once heard, can never be forgotten.

BLUE MOON is set during the early 1900's. The h brings down disgrace on her family when she pursues a career in journalism. When she decides to try to get an interview with an infamous Mexican outlaw she hires the H to escort her accompany her on her journey to the southwest.

THE COWBOY AND HIS NURSE is a novella of just under 70 pages. It's a mail order bride romance.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

It sounds twisted, but good. I have to say though that I hate the ending with the parents. THEY should have been made to suffer. They sound like an evil couple....I think I hate them and I didn't even read the darn book! LOL To me they are worse than Phillip or anyone else in the story.

Vanessa thought about poisoning her drink several times but chickened out. Instead she poisoned Phillip and Arthurs mother. Yeah, you heard me her mother made her do some twisted things and made her watch. When she was younger her aunt threatened to turn her father in for crooked campaigning or some such thing and the next thing she new her aunt was knocked off along with her son and Vanessa remembers the logo on the getaway van as being a funder for her fathers campaign. Oh I agree the mother should have been wiped out. They joke at the end about it but take off. She did push the limits though. While FSOG had pain through pleasure or vise versa James took it easy on her readers not the case with CW. It wasn't overkill just walking that line ready to go either way. Anyhow I may work on my blanket today or start Grey. It was an addictive read though.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Her book for just coming out on the 16th already has almost 90 reviews. It's was an awesome read. I think I finally figured out why Amazon sometimes publishes long reviews and other times not. When you are the first few rviewers they let it go as long as it wants. But with a book as popular as Stalker or other older classics they limit length because of all the other reviews. It sort of like there is a cap of space that is set aside and if they for see it being popular or the space is already fairly full they enforce the restrictions.

Ya, but you know they give out a bunch of early copies to people for the express purpose of getting reviews. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Both my kids are officially off school today. Lucian has a swimming lesson, and then we are going to see the news kids' movie INSIDE OUT. That means, it will be at least tonight before I can even think about reading. Sigh! I actually borrowed NEVER SEDUCE A SCOT from the library for the umpteenth time last night, and read some of my favorite parts before I fell asleep. I'm hoping to be able to get back to TETON SUNRISE some time over the weekend.
