Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I did that a few days ago but yes CH is back. I saw on FB that he was making a Huntsman spin off. They had pictures of his daughter visiting on location. I didn't think it possible for the man to be any sexier until he was huddled with her in a field. Awe so sweet.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Good luck with the recital today I hope you got some rest. Hi Rachel I'm glad someone is posting healthier recipes on line. Lol. I seen your weight watchers one and I thought finally I always get these chocolaty, peanut buttery, ooey gooey goodness that I can't look at without putting on 20 pounds. Lol. Oh well back to the walking. We're opening the pool next week so that'll occupy the rug rats. They keep telling me how bored they are. Lol.

Thanks, EB! I got another good night's sleep last night, so I'm feeling more the thing today. Just taking it easy this morning. I actually flipped through the freebie list and found a couple. I'm gonna post the links in a separate comment. I'm jealous you have a pool to open. I wish I did too. But then, we do live right by the ocean, so I guess that's a good trade off. I'd prefer a pool though.

message 3255: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Now I'm jealous we have a lake about 30 minutes away but we have a river in our back yard but you can't swim in either. We've had our pool 16 years now. My kids love it and so do I my hubby not so much. I'm glad you got some sleep. My niece stopped in after work at 9 and we bs'd and had a wine cooler would you believe I got tipsy off it? Such a light weight. Lol. Spirnoff grape my niece just shook her head. Lol

Good morning, ladies. Happy Sunday! I found a couple of freebies I thought I'd share with you today, even thought it's Sunday and I don't usually do a freebie list on Sundays. Lately I've been seriously slacking off on the lists though, so consider this one way of my making it up to you all. LOL

http://smile.amazon.com/Rescuing-Rosa...

http://smile.amazon.com/Long-Road-Hom...

http://smile.amazon.com/Always-True-H...

That's it for today. I actually read RESCUING ROSALIND. The author is very talented, but I had a few issues with the story. If I remember correctly I rated the book 3 1/2 stars...it might have been 4. This is a Regency romance.

I never read ALWAYS TRUE TO HER, but I have read a couple of books by that author and loved them. IMO she's a really good author. FYI the book is set in the Regency period, and the H has a six year old daughter. Thought I'd throw that out there for you lovers of children in your romance books.

THE LONG ROAD HOME is an American Historical, set during the civil war period. It's a novella of about 60 pages.

That's it for today. TTYL!

McDonalds? No Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts? Everyone around here are nuts for Dunkin coffee, while in Cali it was Starbucks. LOL I'm not a big coffee person myself. As a matter of fact, until about 6 years ago I really didn't drink it. Then my brother gave me a keurig for my birthday and I was transformed into a coffee drinker. LOL I only drink certain kinds of flavored coffee though; and usually only one cup a day. I'm more of a tea person; comes from being born in England, I guess.

Hannah's recital was sweet! Every year she shows a marked improvement. She made us very proud. I'll post a couple pics on FB when I get a chance. TTYL!

message 3261: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments RF don't get me wrong dunkins caramel iced coffee...awesome, Starbucks vanilla bean frapachino oh yeah but plain coffee it's Mickey dees for me. I love tea too. I bet you cried. Lol of course Hannah made her mom proud. They always make us proud but I am so good she is showing herself she can do it bc that will make her a stronger woman. We need more of those. Lol. I am finally getting time to read we've had a busy day and my client really needed some one on one.

U never did say what u thought of Emily's Wish? It's ok if u didn't care for it sometimes we just can't all like the same books. Lol. They can't all be Catherine Anderson. Lol

message 3264: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Omg I never even read it! That is SO bad. I wonder if it's been too long to give it a go? Let me see if I can download it.

message 3265: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 443 comments Oh no! Now I feel awful. It already freaking expired! I should have downloaded it right away, but I didn't. No wonder I forgot. My mind is crazy sometimes. I'm so so so sorry that I didn't download it and you wasted your lend :*(

message 3266: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Don't sweat it Rachel. I thought when I kept asking you that you were trying to be polite and honestly and just wanted to let you know me, RF, and Kate are cool with different opinions. I mean no one came to the dark side with its just different tastes. OMG that reminds me I read a warning on FB on Stalker today that sent red flags up big time. Killer was a quick read and so it didn't give a lot of time for deep dark stuff. Just mild grazing IMO but it sounds like the author has really went out of her way to express how dark it really is. Multiple warnings and even stated there are no rainbows and warm fuzzier followed by this excerpt that read about Pheonix wanting f-*k her than murder what was his bc she sent him to jail. I know I read the killing and stuff before but that was when there was a chance of something of a deeper substance come out now I throw my hands up and thank the author for her warning bc my journey with Pheonix is over. I may peek and read some reviews I can't say I won't at least do that but going in any deeper will end badly I fear. I have to at least respect the author for her honesty and am happy I did not get an ARC from her. It wouldn't be fair. Yeah so Rachel back to Emily's Wish I got it returned I'll have to check maybe it still has a lending status since you didn't open it. Let me know if you are still interested. I remember you were working crazy hours at the time.

I would have simply told you I wasn't interested or that I didn't care for it much lol!!! You know me and my standards by now! I have no shame. Please do look and see if you can see lend it maybe? Good morning, ladies! How are things with you? I had a busy weekend, but I'm hoping that from now on things will slow down, at least a tiny bit. My son is now home; Hannah's last day of school is next Thursday. So, after that the summer begins in earnest. Sigh!

Yes the iced caramel and vanilla bean are awesome, EB! Sounds like we have the same taste in coffee! LOL I've never had MCD's coffee; as I told you I only do flavored and I'm not really a dedicated coffee drinker. Honestly, I'd just as soon do a hot chocolate from Dunkin's. LOL

I'm glad you guys got that figured out re the loan. As long as you don't download the book it's still loanable. Kate and I figured that out a couple months ago when she sent me a book to an incorrect email address. Once it got returned she was able to resend it to me. I'm missing Kate, BTW. Poor thing must be swamped.

Anyhow, I'm off to check out the freebies. TTYL!

Good morning ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. In case you missed the miniature list I posted yesterday, I am repeating the first book from that list. It's a regency set romance, and is written by the same author who wrote the Kellington series--NEVER A MISTRESS NO LONGER A MAID, and the others.

http://smile.amazon.com/Always-True-H...

http://smile.amazon.com/Seducing-Char...

http://smile.amazon.com/Rescuing-Rosa...

http://smile.amazon.com/Finds-Bride-B...

http://smile.amazon.com/Just-Time-Cow...

Oooh SEDUCING CHARLOTTE sounds intriguing. It's about a handsome, wealthy marquess who could have any woman he wants, but who falls for a plain wallflower then goes on a campaign to win her. I love it when the H is the one who is determined to have the h, while she wants nothing to do with him. LOL Anyhow, to add some mystique, there is a machine-breakers rebellion that's raging and the H is determined to stamp it out. Unknown to him, the h has a secret connection to the machine breakers that could destroy the H. Here's an excerpt from the book that I copied from one of the reviews. Rachel, YOU in particular will LOVE this line.

."But also know this. There will never be another woman for me. I have already taken you to wife in every way that matters. When you leave me, there will be no other. You are the wife of my heart."

RESCUING ROSALIND is another regency romance that I had on yesterday's list. I liked that book, but if I remember correctly, the h struck as being a bit on the immature side. Loved the H though!

LOVE FINDS A BRIDE is a western. The H is a sheriff whose last name is Love. He rushes to rescue the h, who was kidnapped during a stagecoach robbery. The H's wife had met a similar fate previously. This is a short story of about 30 pages.

JUST IN TIME COWBOY is a time travel romance set in the old west. The h gets transported back in time; she meets the H who tries to help her get back home. There is some intrigue with an outlaw who wants to get his hands on the H's silver claim and will stop at nothing to get it.

FOUR WINDS is an American historical. The H is an Indian; the h is set on exacting revenge for the death of her husband. The H works as a guard for a Colonel and in that position ends up shooting the h. When he realizes he has shot a woman, he takes her back to his people to be nursed back to health. A romance develops. This is a novella of just over 100 pages.

That's it for today, ladies. I intended to go through the CR section too, but my son just came downstairs and he's moody as heck. I think he needs some Mommy time. LOL I will try to check for free CRs tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope you all find something on today's list to tempt your reading palates. TTYL!

Yes that sucks! I hope it's nothing serious, and he feels better soon.

No, I never read BELLA. It sounds good though. The H and h were forced to be marred for financial reason when they were both young. I think he then went off and lived his life. Some seven years later he returns and finds her attractive only to learn that she is his wife. From the reviews he is a great H and was even faithful to her throughout their years of separation. At least I THINK this is the right book that I'm thinking off. There have been so many where the H and h are forced to be married young and then are separated for years LOL

I think I'm going to read TETON SUNRISE next. I actually started reading a few pages of it yesterday morning before the madness started. It seemed pretty good. We'll see if I stick with it. I still haven't picked up BROKEN WINGS since I got to Chapter 4 last week some time. I just gave up on it, even though it's not a bad story. I don't know; it just didn't grab me. I think my mood was all wrong for it. I do plan on finishing it one of these days.! It's almost impossible for me to leave a book unfinished, unless it REALLY, REALLY SUCKS! LOL

message 3283: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Ooh that sounds like one I'd have to be in the mood for bc I hate when they get together and then come back years later, however, coming home to you was a good experience and there was a 10 year gap there. I wonder if he slept around in those seven years?

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I see where you said he was faithful. Lol

message 3286: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Okay so the H is known as The Saint by the ton bc he is so true. He only had sex one time before married and never strayed. The h seems to be the problem bc she is easily lead by others and sometimes just doubts Sebastian on her own. There are not too many negative most say while the h brought things down the story was entertaining and the H was awesome. It does needle a bit at me that the h had so little faith in him. I guess he does tell her if you have any questions ask me but she still doubts and her rough past I guess gets tiresome. I want to finish the one I'm on and see how I feel if it's okay with you or even loan able.

I checked EB, and it's not loanable!!! I'm so sorry! Yes I do remember that a lot of readers had issues with the h, which is probably why I haven't read it as yet. I'll have to be in a specific mood to tackle that one, otherwise the h will annoy me beyond reason. LOL Sorry I can't send it over. I wonder why they wont let you loan it even just once? Ugh!

LOL I told Hannah that I would have her dress and veil cleaned and stored the way I did my wedding dress. That way her daughter can wear it for her First Communion. I'll take the beauty comment. Haha My ego needs a boost right now; especially with my son calling me "Mr. Chubby Face." Sigh!

Hey Rachel, how ya doing? I haven't managed to read much the last couple of days, but I did start TETON SUNRISE which I think I'm going to like...I THINK! :-)

Okay ladies, here's today's freebie list. This first one is a novella of approximately 50 pages. It's about a h's whose father gave her dowry to the H so he could train to be a smithy. The whole town assumes that upon his return the two will marry; a fact which the h resents. However, when the H does return, he immediately repays her father the money. He seems not to want the h, and now the h thinks she may want to marry him after all.

http://smile.amazon.com/Journeyman-Li...

http://smile.amazon.com/Stolen-Herita...

http://smile.amazon.com/Copper-Dillwy...

http://smile.amazon.com/Hurricane-Dee...

http://smile.amazon.com/Reconcile-Hol...

http://smile.amazon.com/Claimed-Charm...

STOLEN HERITAGE is about a h who is raised by Indians after being kidnapped as an infant who is on a quest to find her real family and true love.

COPPER is set in 1950s Wales. It's about a h who works in the factory of the H's family. He arrives in her town to investigate theft that is occurring at the factory. He meets the h and falls for her. It sounds like there is some tension caused by a second man, not sure if he's a friend of the H's or the h's, but she does have feelings of a sort for this character.

HURRICANE is about a H who is estranged from his family, but is drawn back to his childhood home just in time for a hurricane. The book is set during the catastrophic hurricane of 1900 that hit Galveston Island. I don't know if there is any romance in the story; I can't tell from either the blurb or the reviews.

RECONCILE is about a H who is struggling to shoulder all of his responsibilities along with the demands of a spoilt fiancée. The h has come to town to begin anew life after enduring the shame of a divorce. The H and h are drawn to one another after the h is hired by the H to work as a caregiver to the H's ailing father.

CLAIMED BY A CHARMER is about a h who is put in an asylum by her father after her older brother attempts to do the "unthinkable" whatever that is...I have my suspicions, but of course I'm not sure. Anyhow, the H is the older brother of the h's best friend. She asks her brother to retrieve the h. He falls for her, but she's not the person he thinks she is. The h has a fiery nature, but is intent on being the demure, timid woman every man wants in the hopes of winning the H. FYI this is a medieval romance set in the 1200's.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

Good morning, ladies. Here's the freebie list. The first one is a short mail order bride story. The description tags it as being inspirational.

http://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Br...

http://smile.amazon.com/Julia-Western...

http://smile.amazon.com/Emma-Western-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Guardian-Dark...

http://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Br...

http://smile.amazon.com/Silent-Love-B...

JULIA is the second book in the Mail Order Brides Club series. We've had book one, EMMA, on our list in the past. This heroine, Julia, is Emma's best friend. She travels west to meet Emma's brother in law, who has his sights set on marrying Julia. However, he has a secret...

In case you didn't grab a copy of EMMA and might be interested, I've reposted the link to that book...it's still free!

GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS is a medieval romance by Le Veque. It's about a Scots h who is sent as a prisoner to an English lord to ensure her father's adherence to the terms of a newly forged peace. The H is assigned as guard and protector of the h. As with most of Le Veque's books, this isn't just a story; it's a saga. LOL The H has previously escorted the King's child bride from France to England. When he spurned her advances she lied and said he made a unwanted advances towards her. Now the King is after the H.

THE RIVAL BRIDE is a mail order bride short story about a h whose father pretty much gambles her away. She travels west to become a bride to a widower who is still grieving the loss of his first wife, but needs help raising his daughter. A woman who lives on the neighboring ranch was the rival to be the H's bride.

SILENT LOVE is about a h and H who pretend to be married to allow the h to travel to Oregon on a wagon train. They form a bond during their journey, but once they reach Oregon, they go their separate ways. Before too long they each realize that parting was a mistake. But now can they find each other?

That's it for today, ladies. I'll talk to y'all later!
