Hey EB, I'm tripping. Second chance at love with a psycho pretty much covers Lynne Raye Harris' entire HOT series. LOL I know you had started to read book one, Hot Pursuit, once before, and couldn't get into it. The H seems a right ass in the very beginning, but he really does get better pretty quickly. Anyhow, that's one that is action packed and definitely a second chance at love.

The next two books, both novellas, are also second chance at love. The box set of the first three books is now free. I posted the link a couple of comments up, in case you're interested. I also own books 4 and 5, although I haven't read either of those two as yet. But if either of them appeal to you let me know and I'll send it over.

As a matter of fact, book 4 might fit the bill perfectly. In that book, the heroine has to do an undercover assignment with the H. He's a HOT agent; they are after some kind of psycho, but no one has ever seen him, except for the h. Years before the psycho had captured and tortured the h. I think she met the H when he and the rest of his team rescued her--I'm not positive about that, but I think that's when they met. There was an attraction between the H and h, but he didn't want to commit. Most of the HOT members have commitment issues because of the type of work they do...gone at the drop of a hat, on top secret missions, for undetermined periods of time. It can be a tough life for a spouse to deal with.

Apparently the partner didn't have the same commitment phobia, because he ended up marrying the h. The partner was subsequently killed--this was in the prologue of book 1--while on an assignment with the rest of the HOT team, including the H. The H suffers a lot of guilt because of his friend's death, and has tried to reach out to the h, but she wants nothing to do with him. They end up having to work together because the team needs her to identify the villain. She's not a soldier or anything like that. But she did work for the UN I think, which is how the terrorist guy got to her in the first place--she was on a foreign assignment. The events in this book occur some time after the husband's death; at least a year later I think. That one might fit the bill perfectly...as far as the psycho part. LOL The title of that book is Dangerously Hot. Check it out and let me know what you think. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you; I got distracted.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebie for today. This first one is a novella of just over 100 pages. It's set in the 1900's around the time of the Crimean War and after Florence Nightingale's influence on the nursing profession. The h is a nurse; the H a wounded veteran of the Crimean War and a younger son of a Viscount. The h takes an assignment as his private nurse and a steamy affair develops between the two that ultimately leads to a HEA. I read it a while ago and rated four stars, I believe.

http://smile.amazon.com/Redemption-Br...

http://smile.amazon.com/Christmas-Emb...

http://smile.amazon.com/Marshal-Petti...

http://smile.amazon.com/Tracks-Love-B...

http://smile.amazon.com/Ancient-Warri...

REDEMPTION is a western about a widowed h who travels west with her two young boys to help a friend and ends up engaged to the H, a hotel owner with a young daughter of his own and a dark past. The engagement comes about when the two are caught in a compromising position. Of course during the course of their marriage the H's dark past as an outlaw comes back to haunt them.

CHRISTMAS EMBRACE is a contemporary romance novella of almost 90 pages . It's about a h who is a reporter who gets a scoop story on the H's family. She decides she will not provide info to her paper about the H's family, but when the scoop is released and her identity is discovered it causes problems for the couple's budding relationship. This story has 55 reviews; 54 are five star.

MARSHAL IN PETTICOATS is about a h who becomes marshal of a small western town when she accidentally shoots an outlaw during a bank robbery. LOL The H comes to town because he is tracking his boss' son, who has now become an outlaw. He has been assigned the task of taking the young man back to his family. The H uncovers the h's secret--she's a woman in man's clothing--and gets involved in trying to protect her from corruption that's brewing in the town.

TRACKS TO LOVE is a western romance about a h who is orphaned at the age of five and sent off on the orphan train out west where she is adopted by a couple who own a saloon. The story begins when the h is five then fast forwards fifteen years later. The first review for the book by LMN11 is very informative; although she didn't really care for the story.

ANCIENT WARRIORS is a boxed set of five books; two prequels and three full length novels all involving medieval and Greek myth fantasy romance.

Well that it's for today ladies. A short list to be sure, but hopefully you will all find something that appeals to you. TTYL!

Okay cool. Books 2 and 3 are pretty good too. They are short though. And check out book 4. That one might be even better. I have it, but haven't read it as yet. It's loanable.

Ya I couldn't stand the H at first either. But then I realized it was because I thought he was a little shit teenager. I don't like the way he kindof tossed off his and the h's friendship. And I HATED the fact that he blabbed after her took her virginity. Idiot! He's better as a man though and the scene where he comes back for her at the end is sweet.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I can't believe it took him 10 years to come back and the way he talked about going a couple months w/out. Like he's taking some celibacy pact or something. The moment after they're done having sex he tells her he's not the guy or however he phrased it. Stupid man! Lol. He just blocks out any chance at happiness. I'm only at 30% bc I keep taking breaks.

Yes I know. I was super annoyed with him for a while and ticked off with her for hooking up with him so soon. IMO she should have made him work harder. Dickhead! LOL Anyhow, he is better and he does have a valid point about his job. Did you see what happened to them in the prologue? I can't imagine my husband having to leave at a moments notice and not being able to know where he's going or how long he'll be gone. Then in the prologue the group got captured and held hostage. BTW one of the two teammates that were killed is the husband of the h in book 4. The second in command of the team--the one who is under this H--is the H in book 4. They are all blockheads. The H in book 3 actually wanted a relationship, and his woman walked out on him!!! She came back in the story because she needed his help. Sigh!

Hey EB, I've been thinking about the book you're reading and it's been making me laugh. I remember the scene by the lake when the idiot was shooting up the place. Matt went into full blown combat mode and I was laughing my head off. I was like, dude seriously calm down. You're at a lake in small town USA, not Iraq. LOL The book was full of overblown drama at times. I don't know why I liked it as much as I did, but I did. :-) How's it going so far?

I haven't done any reading today at all. I've been busy and now the in laws are down for Hannah's May Crowning at school tomorrow. Plus I have to take her out to get some flowers and a "special" snack. Sigh

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments What is May crowning? Wow, things must be different in your neck of the woods. We never had anything the like but sounds like your daughter gets some special days. I'm jealous. Lol. I hear you with the books why does one appeal where others of the same like get on your nerves. The nonchalance about going to bed together when it's over sounds painful. Why do that to yourself but it's all part of the dance. Sounds funny by the lake scene

Haven't you gotten to the lake scene as yet? It was close to the beginning. That's when they had their second meeting. When they were dancing together, I think, the idiot started shooting up the place. Next thing you know Matt's using mud to camouflage his face and is doing a belly crawl. Girl I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a scene in a book that's not supposed to be funny!

May Crowning is a Catholic thing. May is the month that we celebrate Mary. The crowning is just when we bring flowers and put it on her statue as a sign of respect. Yes, she gets a lot of special days. LOL I have to get her her "special" treat in a few. We've decided on a cupcake. :-)

I don't remember there being a lake but that was the scene that popped in my mind. The psycho with the knife who thinks she slept with every guy but him. He went a bit overboard just to talk to her. That was pretty funny how did he think she would be impressed by causing such a scene? Lol. If I don't come back run for the woods go to the road and call the police. Lol. Meanwhile everyone else is running and screaming.

I know girl. That scene was too funny. I just thought the author made it a teeny bit too dramatic. I mean I know the guy is with HOT, but really?! And the one with the knife was an outright fool. As far as I was concerned that scene was so not needed in the book. You'll see, it's chock full of excitement that has absolutely nothing to do with that scene at the lake. It was kindof extraneous. Oh well. What to do?! I still haven't read a word all day. I'm hoping I'll get in a little reading later before bed; that's if I don't get into one of my crime shows instead. LOL

I just can not focus I start reading and then I'm thinking about what I want o fix for dinner then read some more and begin flipping through the channels. Persuasion was on earlier so I watched that. Then I called my mom and at that point I just quit. I don't think it's that it's a bad book I am just struggling right now with it. I can do drama girl you know all Keira Montclair, Catherine Anderson books tend to lean that way. In fact I may try to read Baby Love by CA but I'm chilling out for the rest of the evening and tomorrow I'm spending the day with my mom so I should be able to tear into one than. I hope. Lol.

I totally understand, EB. I get in those moods often enough myself. It's especially bad at times like this when I have a lot going on with the kids etc. It distracts me from my reading; my mood is off. It's easier for me to just watch a movie or television program, which is why I've been catching up on so many of my true crime documentaries lately.

Have fun with your Mom today!

Okay ladies. I hope you all have a great day today. Here are a few freebies. The first one if book 8 in the Family of Fire series. We had book 7, BREN'S STORY, on our list yesterday.

http://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Ma...

http://smile.amazon.com/Teaching-Pati...

http://smile.amazon.com/Daring-Highla...

http://smile.amazon.com/Tennessee-Wal...

http://smile.amazon.com/Passion-Henri...

MAIL ORDER MAMA is book 2 in the Brides of Beckham series. I've read a couple of the books and really, really like this series. It's about a mail order bride who travels west to marry a man with two young daughters. I haven't read this book.

TEACHING PATIENCE is yet another western. We've had a lot of those on our freebie list of late. Anyhow, it's about a h who is a school teacher. The H is the father of one of her students. This one is a novella listed at 64 pages.

THE DARING HEART is book 3 in the Highland Heather and Hearts Scottish series. It's about a h who is a member of an assassin family. The H and h meet when the H wakes up to find the h in his bed holding a dagger to his heart. LOL

TENNESSEE WALTZ is another American Historical. It's about a wealthy h who takes in a stranded ill child and nurses her back to health. When she discovers that the child's parents are dead, the h takes her back to the mountains to her extended family. The H is the child's uncle. The h stays for an extended period of time filling in for the school teacher who recently quit. The h is promised to another man. I've read the book. Looks like it's been republished...not sure why. Anyhow, here is a link to my review. I gave it 3 1/2 stars.

http://smile.amazon.com/review/RMDAD5...

A PASSION FOR HENRIETTA is book 2 in the Maybrook trilogy. We've had books 1 and 3 on our freebie list in recent weeks. Book one was entitled A VALENTINE FOR AUGUST. In this story, Henrietta, the woman who was August's intended in his book, finally gets her own HEA.

That's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something to delight you. TTYL!

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. This first one is the prequel story to the Caversham Chronicles...the story of the parents of the hs and H of the books in that series. I've read it. It's short, but good. I think I gave it 4 stars. EB read it too. She gave it 3 stars.

http://smile.amazon.com/Miss-Amelia-L...

http://smile.amazon.com/Iris-Suitors-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Rose-Suitors-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Ma...

http://smile.amazon.com/Violet-Suitor...

A RELATIVE MATTER is about a h who is orphaned and, along with her brother, moves from India to England to live with her grandfather. The grandfather later dies, leaving his estate to the h's underaged brother. Their guardian is their grandfather's nephew...that makes him a second cousin, doesn't it? Anyhow, the guardian has an evil son who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the inheritance...if the h's brother dies, then the property falls to that line of the family. The H is a lord, who has promised to protect the h and her brother. Not sure if he's a neighbor, friend, or what. FYI this is a new book, with no reviews so far.

IRIS is book 8 in the Suitors of Seattle series by Kristin Osbourne. Book 1, Rose, is one that is pretty much always free, on and off. But just in case someone missed it, I've added it to the list as well.

VIOLET is book 7 in the Suitors of Seattle series! I'm not sure what's going on, but Ms. Osbourne has four books on the freebie list today...MAIL ORDER MAMA from yesterday's list is still free today. I believe I mentioned yesterday that I've read a couple of Ms. Osbourne's books and enjoyed them very much. FYI her MAIL ORDER MAYHEM is usually free; it's the first book in her Brides of Beckham series. I've gone ahead and added that link to the list as well for anyone who may have missed it in the past.

That's it for today, ladies. If you like westerns you've certainly been making out like a bandit in the free department lately. Our list has been inundated with books from that genre. I hope you all have a great day! TTYL!

Hey EB! Hell no on the reading front! Yesterday was a zoo. My daughter had her May Crowning at school, then we dropped my son off at preschool and went to BJs. Well with the two of us, my hubby and I were in there FOREVER! When we left we just had about a half hour to kill before it was time to pick up Lucian. LOL We then went home and two hours later, after Hannah got home, we went to Lucian's school's Spring Fling. From there it was dance class for Hannah, and FINALLY, about 6 0'Clock, we were home for the day...at least I was. My hubby had to go pick up Hannah from dance class. LOL

Oh I'm lying, I did get to read for a little bit. It was while we were waiting to pick up Lucian. Brian went in to a store to look for something he wanted; I stayed in the car and read. I got a Paperwhite for Mother's Day that I keep in my handbag. I make sure that whatever book I'm reading it downloaded on it. That way if I get unexpectedly stuck somewhere I always have something to read with me. Reading outside on my HDX isn't the best. The glare from the sun is awful. In the car isn't bad, but it's still not great, but reading outside in direct sunlight is impossible! It's just like trying to read on a computer screen in direct sunlight. Ugh! I'm still reading that time travel 1904's story. It's pretty good, but my mood is vacillating back and forth. I might have to read a short story in between.

How was your day yesterday with you Mom? It sounds like you're in for a super busy day today...and from now on for the rest of the summer. LOL Yes, Rachel is has crazy busy with work and those CEUS she's been doing.

No dammit, I haven't! I have to remember to do that when I have time. It's nice that you get to spend such good quality time with your Mom. I wish I lived closer to mine, but I'm not complaining. Just three years ago I lived across the country from her. Now it's just a 2 1/2 hour plane ride away and I see her every year. She was just here for Hannah's First Communion, and we're going for our annual summer visit this July. We'll be there for three weeks burning our asses off. My brother and his family is supposed to coming out too while we're there so that will be good. I haven't seen him for two years!

I did a quick peek at KS, but didn't find anything that appealed to me. I was undecided about the one where the girl got stranded in that snowstorm and ended up at the H's house. He's a widower, suspected of his late wife's murder, I think. Anyhow, I read the excerpt but didn't vote on it. Maybe I'll go back and do that. I'm so messed up in the head right now when it comes to reading!!! Ugh!

Yes family being scattered is hard. My brother is in CO, he just moved from TX. They are in the military--or they were--and have moved a lot of the years. He retired in 2013 and my sister in law just retired this year. Now they've decided to settle in CO for the time being. My Mom is in FL and I have another brother who lives in England.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. This first one is about a h who is bent on finding husbands for her three grown daughters before the family secret ruins their chances. The h also finds love with the h, but then the family secret is revealed. This is a novella of just under 100 pages. The book is set in Boston, MA.

SAVING ALESSANDRA is about a h who has endured a severely abusive ten year marriage...and I do mean ABUSIVE. She has a deformed hand from where her late husband slammed a piano cover down on it. She has now returned to her family home in England from America. She is reunited with her brother and his best friend, her true love. The H will move heaven and earth to bring her back to some semblance of life. This is a poignant story about an abuse victim who finally finds love. I read it, but honestly it wasn't as good for me as I thought it would be...I felt disconnected from the h for some reason; and I'm a person who can cry at commercials. LOL Anyhow, here is a link to my review if you're interested. I only gave the book 3 stars.

http://smile.amazon.com/review/RMF3EJ...

AT ODDS WITH DESTINY is a ten book boxed set. It contains books of various types, all of which seem to be contemporary. According to the description the books are filled with...myth, fantasy, mystery, history, romance, drama, originality, heroism, and suspense.

OPEN HEARTS is a Christian mail order bride romance. It's a novella of 44 pages.

MAIL ORDER DEVASTATION is book 4 in the Montana Mail Order Bries series. We've had books 1 and 2, MAIL ORDER REGRETS and MAIL ORDER PROMISES on recent freebie lists. This one is about a h whose baby is stolen. Not being able to afford a train ticket out west, which is where her baby has been taken, the h accepts a proposal to be a mail order bride--without revealing her real reason for doing so.

That's it for today ladies. TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Your not alone. ROTFLMBO! Hey I started that boxed stevedore the movie last night and Clarissa Wild has a book called Killer and it fits my mood. The villain/killer is vile. I think my old Stephen King side is coming out. Lol. I didn't get long to read but it is a standalone and the prequel to a series. Anyhow the boxed set was
.99 but just that book in paperback is over $7. Pricey for a book less than 200 pages but good bc the boxed set has 20 books in it. It's called Summer Fire and I am hoping the other books are as juicy as this one.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol. I just read what I typed earlier and the damn auto correct once again changed it. What I was originally saying was I tried a boxed set before the movie last night. LMBO

Rachel | 443 comments I AM FINALLY DONE!! LMAO And to answer your question RF, I got off of work after 9:30 pm two days in a row so I have been EXHAUSTED. I worked over 40 hours in 4 days two weeks in a row. But, like I've said before, I am getting it done before I can't do that anymore haha. I enjoyed my day off today sleeping like the dead and finishing my CEUs for my CCRN certification and now I'm brain dead and $120 lighter in my check book.

I hope you ladies are enjoying some good books!!!! <3

Good morning, Rachel, EB! Rach it sounds like you've had a grueling couple of weeks. Congrats on getting everything done on time. It's now time to celebrate with a GREAT book! LOL

EB I was wondering what the heck you were talking about when I read stevedore. LOL Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't read a line in more than two days now. Well that's not true; I've read bits and pieces of old favorites, but so far I haven't started a new one or gone back to the one I've been reading. I don't know what I'm going to do; that book is pretty good, but it's just not hooking me. It's not the books fault, I don't think. I think it's me and this mood that I'm in. I've got so much other stuff going on with the kids that my mind just isn't into reading. Oh well, summer will be here soon, along with the in laws...oh joy. I should be able to get a little time to myself once that happens and maybe I can catch up on my reading then. In the meantime I think I'm going to have to be satisfied with piecemeal reading here and there, UNLESS I find a book that is so compelling that I can't put it down!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments So I've been reading this book by Clarissa Wild it is so off the track of our normal reads. You guys will be shaking your head when I tell you. The h (Vanessa) is married to a man quite a bit older than her and the two share a loveless marriage. She loves their house and so she deals with witnessing him screwing another woman in their bed. Later they go to this party and she is out to get vengeance on him and so she picks a man out from the party to get even. It suggested this isn't her first rodeo and so she goes for it.
SPOILER ALERT
The man however (Pheonix) is there for his own dark reason. You with me so far? CW writes in a way that has pulled me in bc this is not a typical read. You hate the husband when you learn how he treats his wife and you want to hear more about Pheonix. It's so wrong it's right I guess you'd say. You know I don't condone infidelity but IMO there is no marriage just two people living a lie. Anyhow the Phillip(husband) and Vanessa leave the party with Phillip coughing excessively and almost passing out. She lets him behind the wheel and rides along side ( I was screaming at her) and Phillip is burnt up in the car. The mystery man from the party pulls her free from the wreckage saving her life. Now the police have told her and Phillips brother that he was poisoned and the slump over the steering wheel was his actual death. Now there is this underlining curiosity between Vanessa and brother in law. They always felt but it always felt wrong but now the two want to fill the void. They do get together but it's not what you want bc it's safe not hot. He is the opposite his brother I think and cares for her but for her it's just a comfort, feeling wanted type thing. I flipped to the end and it seems as though they are together but mystery man/ killer has left a calling card promising a return to princess as he calls it. This is so out of what I normally read but I am hooked ladies. I read the excerpt from the next book Stalker and he's back and she is still with the brother in law. I don't remember his name bc he strikes me as the doormat kind. That's so not right but I want to learn more about the bad guy. He's all kinds of wrong and so out of my norm bc he's dangerous. We'll see how I feel when I finish this book.

Okay, I think you need therapy because it seems to me that the reason you are so hooked on this book is because of the villain. Did you give your parents a hard time when you were a teenager? I can see you as the type who loves the "bad boy" type. ROTFLMBO

Anyhow, seriously the books sounds intriguing, but not one that I want to get involved with. I hear youthough about finding the strangest books that will reel you in and keep you hooked even while you're wondering WHY do I like this book so much? It can't be helped though. We like what we like for whatever reason. So, who the hell is Phoenix? She slept with him at the party to get revenge on her husband and then he save her life, correct? So what happened in the car, her husband died and they had a car accident? I'd think he would be the one she'd end up with, not the brother in law. Umm What happened with Phoenix?

Look at least you're reading. I haven't touched my book since Wednesday. I'm suffering from withdrawal pains right now. I need a book to pull me from the edge of this funk! Something that will make me WANT to read despite the fact that I've got so much else going on right now. Sigh.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments It's like you don't even know me. Lol. I was the good girl who stayed at home on Friday nights. Please my husband is the only man I've ever been with. That's probably saying more than you bargained for but who cares all my secrets are out. Lmbo. I am a Darcy girl not a Wickham a Westcliffe fan over St. Vincent. I know you haven't read those two books by Kleypas but when you do you'll understand.

SPOILER ALERT

So Pheonix is at the party bc he was hired by someone to kill Phillip. The attraction to her I think is unexpected for him bc he says he will never let someone that pretty go. I don't know who hired him and she thinks he did it bc of her. He does not like the way the husband treats her and is confused why she tolerates him. It's a far cry from love but he beats the boring brother in law. Yes I'm in that mood. Lol. I think the police are going to suspect her for his death but than why would she climb in a car with him right? Pheonix thought he'd go to the bathroom and make his exit and that is what lead him to follow them when he spotted their leave. He couldn't watch her die and pulled her free and was even at the hospital at one point. Girl I've went to the dark side. Lmbo

No shit, Sherlock! The H is the killer?! You've really gone to the dark side!!! LOL Okay so you were the good girl. I get it now; you're living your wild side through books! Shh That will remain our secret. ROTFL Don't' worry about the extra info--my hubby was #2 and #1 was a long term relationship. I remember having the conversation with some girlfriends a few years ago. They made me feel like a saint with all their escapades. I've never been into the one night stands, picking up guys in bars, or any of that.

Well the book certainly does sound intriguing. Have you gotten book 2 as yet? And does she know that Phoenix is the one who saved her? Where is he right now that she's with the brother in law? I know you don't like infidelity in your books--actually I think that's an understatement, so this must be some book you're reading if all that has been going on and you're still hooked. You really like this CW author, don't you? You've read a few of her books now. Isn't she the one that wrote the one with the Asian H that you read a couple months back?

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments The book is written with flashbacks so when it starts he is in the past tense. The other key factor here is that I can't stand her husband. Do you know the only way he will screw her is from behind. He has so little respect that he grabs the behinds of several women at this party their at but if it was me I'd just divorce his ass and move on. She is afraid she'll lose everything and her parents give the impression they like him so she has no one to talk to. The second book isn't out yet. This book is a prelook into Stalker but is a stand alone. I don't have all the pieces figured out right now to answer all your questions. They have just come out of a closet after their first brief encounter bc as I said she has flashbacks so you only learn a bit at a time. That has been the biggest intrigue for me about this book. I love solving puzzles and this feeds that craving. So she asks if they will see each other again after the party so she feels the attraction too bc he fills this dark fantasy of hers. He's dangerous and sexy which makes her feel alive. She remembers his eyes. When she is trying to climb out of the burning car she looks up and he is looking down at her before he pulls her from the crash.
