HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, ladies! I hope you all get pampered and spoiled today and you surely all deserve. Here's a little mother's day gift from me to you...a few freebies for today. Or rather, it's a MD gift from Amazon. LOL The first book is a Highland romance.

http://smile.amazon.com/Highland-Sold...

http://smile.amazon.com/Masquerade-Sc...

http://smile.amazon.com/Pearl-Promise...

http://smile.amazon.com/Bride-School-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Her-Fiery-Vik...

http://smile.amazon.com/Western-Roman...

MASQUERADE is a somewhat spicy regency romance novella.

PEARL OF PROMISE is a mail order bride romance novella. I read this one a while back and loved it!

MOLLY is book 3 in the Bride School series. We've had books 1 and 2 on previous freebie lists.

HER FIERY VIKING is a paranormal contemporary romance. The H is an immortal viking.

TAKING THE HIGH ROAD: PAUL YANCEY is book 8 in the Taking the High Road series. We've had several other books in the series on our freebie lists in the past. It's a series about ten brothers; all of whom find love.

That's it for today, ladies. I realized that I never finished the freebie list yesterday. I started it, but got distracted and never got back to it! So, I guess today's list isn't a gift, but rather a make up for yesterday's oversight. Sigh! Happy Mother's Day!!!

Thanks, EB! You have a wonderful Mother's Day too! I hope all your "boys" take extra special good care of you today.

Haha I agree with EB, Rachel! You deserve a Happy Mother's Day shout out too. LOL I remember before we had kids, I told Brian that as the mother of his future children he really should give me special care and attention on Mother's Day. He even bought me a Mother's Day cards. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, Rachel make sure you're hubby takes special care of you today, because once the kids come, it will be all about them...even on Mother's Day! At least until they get older. LOL

Kate, you deserve a medal. After all you raised your kids and are now raising grandchildren! Make sure you get some peace and quite and uninterrupted reading time...THAT'S what I want! LOL

Good morning, ladies. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Here are a few freebies for today's list. This first one is a P&P variation. In this one the Bennets are American. Elizabeth and Darcy met while she was in England. Then he turns up for a visit in her hometown in America.

JOHN YANCEY is the first book in the Taking the High Road series. We've had a number of the other books in the series on our freebie lists. The only one we haven't had to date is book 5. Also it's a ten book series and so far only eight books have been released.

A PERFECT FOREVER is the first book in the Leap of Love series. From what I can tell, there are four books in the series. We've had the other three books on our freebie lists in the past.

SWEET REUNION is a contemporary romance. It's book one of Melanie Shawn's Hope Falls series. This story is a second chance at love romance.

THE LITTLEST COWBOY is another CR. In this story a baby is left on the H's doorstep with the claim that it's his baby. He's having a hard time wrapping his mind around that fact when the h shows up accusing him of murdering her sister and stealing her sister's baby.

BAREFOOT IN WHITE is another CR. It's also a second chance at love for a couple who knew each other in college. Apparently, before they separated the H had deeply hurt the h.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

I had a wonderful day...very relaxing. I got my MD presents in the evening...my kids were working on cards etc all day. I'm not sure why because they had made some perfectly lovely gifts at school, but for some reason they wanted to make more cards. LOL I wasn't complaining because it kept them occupied a good portion of the day. :-)

You're welcome re the list. I've been trying to add CRs to the list at least once a week...at least that is my plan since it seems most of read CRs, at least from time to time. But honestly, traversing through the CR freebie section on Amazon is pretty hazardous. There are sooooooooo many of them that are merely the first in a series of books, all of which are interconnected. It's beyond irritating. You have to a really in depth search to make sure you're not getting stuck with a book that ends in a cliffhanger. So, despite the fact that Amazon offers a TON of free CR books, determining which of them is safe to read is not an easy task.

Rachel wrote: "And I love the cards haha!!! Whatever keeps them occupied!!"

Yes I agree 100%! LOL Those cards bought be a LOT of peace and quiet yesterday. They also made paper cell phones, kindles, and bags. I had to ask them WHY they were making them...after all, my husband and I have spent hundreds of dollars buying them REAL kindles, they have real toy cell phones, and as for bags...I can't even count how many they have. LOL But I wasn't complaining; anything that kept them happy and out of my hair was welcome.

Yes, it's such an effort to have to research before downloading a book, even a free one. Luckily it's not so bad among the historical romances. Even after all the time and effort I put into reading reviews, etc., yet still, a couple of months ago, I found, not one, but TWO CRs among those in my cloud that ended in cliffhangers! Thank God I have the habit of reading the ending of a book before I actually start reading it, otherwise I would have been totally pissed! It was annoying too because the storylines sounded really interesting. I don't mind the cliffhangers so much. What I really hate the false marketing...where the book description not only fails to mention the book ends in a cliffhanger, but actually makes it appear that a book is a standalone. Ugh!

Yes. I noticed that too. I always head for the middle. I figure early reviews could be from the F&F group. LOL That one, 1 star review, pointed out a lot about the story that made absolutely no sense! But still, some people seemed to like it a lot. All one can do is go with your gut feeling.

I'm reading an American historical romance right now, Summer of Promise. It's from one of our recent lists. So far I'm loving it. It's by Amanda Cabot; this is the first book I've read by her and I love her writing. I checked and discovered that I have two other books by her in my cloud! Yay!

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. The first one is a Regency set mystery with a touch of romance. The H is the founder of the Second Sons Inquiries; an agency of second sons of the ton who conduct investigations. He he hired to prove the h is a charlatan...she is a medium who conducts seances and has been hired for one by the mother of the H's client, Lord Crowley. When the seance begins all hell breaks loose and Lord C ends up dead. So the H then ends up investigating Lord Crowley's death; of course the h is a prime suspect. Romance does blossom between the two. From the book description and the reviews, it seems that the romance does take a backseat to the mystery. It actually sounds a lot like that old movie I love, "Clue", without the humor. :-)

http://smile.amazon.com/Vital-Princip...

http://smile.amazon.com/Change-Fortun...

http://smile.amazon.com/Win-Her-Heart...

http://smile.amazon.com/Surprise-Brid...

http://smile.amazon.com/Safe-Harbor-E...

http://smile.amazon.com/Savage-Destin...

http://smile.amazon.com/At-Every-Turn...

http://smile.amazon.com/Betting-You-A...

CHANGE OF FORTUNE is about an English h in America who is trying to track down the man who stole her fortune. In the meantime, she is masquerading as a "governess-at-large." LOL In any event, the H is a wealthy American with two children; a widower I believe, who spends his time avoiding match minded women. He and the h combine forces when they realize that they man the h is tracking is a common enemy. FYI this is an inspirational element to this book.

TO WIN HER HEART is by Kate Witemeyer and has a digital list price of $14.99. However, I see that Ms. Witemeyer's other books are all selling for $9.99. Either way, this freebie is a steal if you have any interest in reading it, that is. We've had a few of these books on our freebie list, and based on past experiences, they are usually available for free for one day only. That's happened a couple of times in the past; it's not the norm. Usually freebies remain free at least for a couple of days. In any event, I can say for sure whether or not the issue arose with this author's books--we've had at least two other ones on our freebie list--but I do know that it was with books that had a higher end price tag. So, if you think this is a book you'd like to read, make sure you grab it today! It would help if I told you waht it's about. LOL

It's an American historical about a H, an ex-con, who committed an unintentional crime during his youth. He's out now and has moved to settle in the h's town. They H is a blacksmith; the h a librarian. She likes the H, but when she finds out about the H's past they have some issues. This is another romance that includes an inspirational aspect.

A SURPRISE BRIDE is a short mail order bride story. The H's fiancee died ten years earlier. He has never gotten over it. One day his mother announced that a mail order bride would be arriving for him, THAT DAY! There are secrets and deceit involved in the plot so my guess is that the h is the H's long believed dead fiancee, but I'm not sure how that's gonna play out, especially in only 30 pages.

NO SAFE HARBOR is about a h who travels from Ireland to America in search of her brother who she believed was dead. She meets with the H who claims to be a friend, but who is not what he seems. There is a lot of intrigue interwoven throughout the plot, what with dangerous revolutionaries, secrets, etc. Ah just read a review; apparently the H is also searching for the h's brother to reek revenge against him for the death of his, the H's, father. However, he ends up falling in love with the h. This is another book with a higher end price tag; the second and third books in the series are $6 and $9 bucks respectively. FYI this is a standalone story, not part of a serial. I did check!

SAVAGE DESTINY is a romance between a White female and Seneca brave. The H was a renowned scout for the Virginia militia, but after he was betrayed by the White woman he loved, he returned to his Seneca roots. The h's cousin is the woman who betrayed the H. When the cousin dies giving birth to her half-breed baby (is that were the term half-"breed" comes from I wonder?) the h takes the baby to the H. The H, however, wants nothing to do with the child as it reminds him of his mother's betrayal. In any event, you know what happens...yes, they fall in love. LOL

AT EVERY TURN is about a h who has pledged a large sum of money to a charity, but needs to come up with the cash. The h has secret passion for speed and automobiles. When she discovers that her father's company is sponsoring an auto race and the prize money is enough to cover her pledge, she conspires with the H, her father's mechanic, to prepare her for a auto race. The story is set during the early 1900's so the h's entering the auto race is quite taboo.

BETTING ON YOU ALWAYS is a contemporary second chance at love romance. It's about a H and h who have a history; the H left the h in a bad way some four years earlier. Now they are reunited at a friend's wedding; the H wants the h back. He gets her to agree to give him 7 days to show her why she should take him back.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

What's the problem with the Charles' book? I've only read two by her...that I can remember, His Impetuous Debutante, which I loved, and Compromised for Christmas, which was okay--that one was a novella. I haven't read anything from the series you're reading now.

Good morning, Rachel! Have a nice day!

Ah I see. There are a number of one star reviews. I only read one of them; that's all I really needed. A lot of what she said didn't make any sense; and I was confused. But when I went into the comments it became clear. I don't know it just seemed a bit dumb; the h has been missing for 21 years, but the H thought she was dead and has been mourning her. But now that she's back and in danger he ignores her texts because he's dedicating the weekend to her memory. I couldn't wrap my mind around that one; still can't. LOL

Well I hope you enjoy the Charles book. I didn't notice anything crazy in the editing department with the books I read, but you know how it is nowadays; most e-books have at least a few issues. Just be careful as you foray out into the wild. LOL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments If the plot and couple are good enough I can get passed that. I may mention it in my review as they did but the one lady still have it four stars. The H in this book had a nasty a$$ father who wanted his second son to never marry so the man pushed him into being a rake. The old man is in the ground now and Trent wants to marry. That's a different twist aye ladies. The h believes lies her friend has shared about him but she still can't stop staring at him at every opportunity. The beginning his step mother and sister died and I am hoping that that tragedy is revisited bc it is so sad and he still has her doll.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments So far its going okay. Millicent is the friend and she wants Jordan but he avoided her like the plague. She noticed his interest in Audrey so she made up this story how he stole her innocents and left her ruined. Audrey is now seeing a different side to her now. What I really like is Jordan has no interest in flirting widows who are serving themselves up for him because he wants a commitment. Now if he could just get Audrey to believe him. This Millicent thing could get dicey though. The woman is having affairs to make Jordan jealous but he hasn't even noticed he is trying to find out from his brother why Audrey hates him.

Oh man! What a bitch! Jealousy is such an ugly thing. So he's ignoring Millicent and wants the h? That does sound good! I hope the h doesn't end up being TSTL about the whole Millicent thing though and sees her for what she really is, and soon!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments What is Tstl? The h is so innocent she doesn't understand why her friend is pursuiting these other men. She believes it's to make her husband jealous but then M says he bores her it's not him I wish to make jealous it's Jordan. I haven't got to the part where you see her thinking that through. It goes back and fourth between both characters thoughts. I like that too then you get to see both thoughts and Jordan is going to be a great H and faithful. Love that

So you know I had to be sarcastic and tag them in any FSOG ad. I told them both I respect your opinion not to like it and ask that you do the same for me. They both got on their soap box about the younger generation being influenced by the movie and thinking abuse was acceptable. A POOL? I am so jealous! I have always had a pool; everywhere we've lived since we moved to the States, but NOW that I have two small children who would actually use a pool...I DON'T HAVE ONE!!! Can you believe it? ! LOL We do have the ocean, but it's not the same. Haha

Yes, I don't understand why people have to get on other people's cases about the stuff they like. And the truth is that no one really knows why they like the things they do, and hate other things. Why do you love your husband? Yes, you might be able to give me a list of all his wonderful qualities, and all of those are probably true, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to love him. I mean if we could choose what to like/love wouldn't a woman just love the first man she finds and settle down with him. Wouldn't I LOVE every book I read? That's what I'm looking for after all; to enjoy every book I read.

It's ashamed that you had to undergo abuse. :-) I think a lot of people just don't understand the BDSM subculture. It's not mainstream and FSOG is probably the first book that incorporates this aspect that's become so popular; now it's brought the BDSM lifestyle to the forefront. Besides, you know that book one was all about sex and ended in a major cliffhanger; if that's all anyone knows about the story I can see why they'd be like WTF?! That's why I hate cliffhangers; I read all three books back to back, well I mostly read them. I just could not stand that girl!!! ROTFL

And I had to LOL when I read that your PARENTS got involved in that conversation! I can only imagine it!!!

I told him the pic I wanted; it was a scene from the second movie when he was bare-chested with his pants riding low on his hips, or in the alternative a pic of him totally naked. Well, he was not going for that. Can you imagine? I give that man the best years of my life and he balks at giving me a naked picture of a sexy man! Selfish creature! ROTFL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments You are too funny RF. I just did it myself but have to say my screen saver is Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Lol. A girl can dream. My husband does the whole eye roll thing but that is it. I see no harm and it's not like he don't have his girl pics. My other brother actually liked the movie but he's Pervy so he wasn't helping my cause. Lol. My sister in law can be preachy and thinks that her opinion is the only one that's right. When her and my brother first got together me and him had the usual sister/ brother fight and she tried to show me the errors of my ways. How wrong I was to yell at him. First you need to know she is an only child and let's just say it didn't end well. Bc he was my brother b4 her boyfriend and now that she's lived with him like I had to I think I have proven my case. Lol. She waited on him hand and foot and I warned her now she complains about him waiting for her to do everything. I just smile. Lol. Anyway enough of my dis functional family M on this book is a BITCH. Oooh she is truly convinced Jordan and her had an affair. I mean she is talking to him about her fantasy like it took place.

Uh oh, sounds like a stalker alert! ROTFL I feel sorry for the H. I think I'm gonna have to read that book. I checked and discovered that i have another of the series in my cloud; I think the title is A PERFECT GENTLEMAN--or may it was THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN. I can't remember exactly now.

That's kinda funny about your sister in law. Those know it all types always get theirs in the end. Yup, the worst thing you can do is break your man bad, because then you'll be stuck like chuck. But that's all on her, not him. LOL

Yes I know the type of person who thinks that theirs is the only opinion that counts. A bunch of them are on Amazon. LOL I love the fact that you said your brother is pervy. Hahaha It would have helped your case better had you a preacher to side with you. ROTFL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol right. My oldest brother is the type that anything goes, consequences be damned. My youngest is only in the bedroom type. Apparently I'm in between. Lol. You know I love a wicked villain and the demented villainess is always fun as long as the H is on the same page. Now see the fact that he avoids her and she still believes they are mad for each other should be an interesting thing to see come to a close. The h still sides with her friend but her "friend" just told her he's mine so hands off. Lmao. She better start figuring it out bc seriously it doesn't take much to do so. I am still ok bc its early and she doesn't know the H well yet.
