Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. I still have guests and am pressed for time, so I'm just providing the links--no real description of the books. Sorry! I'll be back to full form by Wednesday. Anyhow, the first one is set in America. The h is Irish and hates the English. The H is English, but has joined the "rebels" in their fight against America.

Ooh ooh ooh, SINFUL DEEDS is book 2 in Samantha Holt's Cynfell Brothers series. Remember Julian, the sexy marquess? Well this is one of his younger brother's story! Yay! From reading the blurb it seems the h has been the H's mistress for years...it also looks as though he's been faithful to her and that he's been the h's only "protector." I certainly hope so because I don't usually like the h being a mistress plot device.
PURPLE LIKE THE WEST is an American historical.
SAVANNAH'S BLUEBIRD is set in 1930's Mississippi.
That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

Good morning, ladies. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of freebies today...at least not anything that we haven't seen before. Here is one new one; it's a novella set in during WWI. It's about a H who works for the Lord of the home and falls for the Lord's daughter.

ECHOES IN THE DARKNESS is the second book in The Jago Legacy series. We've had book one on our list within the past few weeks; the title for book one is LEGACY OF DARKNESS. The story in book two is set almost 30 years after the events in book one. The Jago's family strangeness continues. The couple from book one, Tynan and Lucia are also included in this story; they are the current earl and countess. I believe this second book is the story of their eldest son. The H--heir to the earldom-is an artist. His best friend, the h, is a nude model. In the story, the h poses as the H's fiancee when he goes home. There is some intrigue included in the plot with murder and madness.
WILLOW'S SECRET is a western historical.
A VALENTINE FOR AUGUST is a new book; no reviews. And it looks like the author is a new one, so read at your own peril. LOL It's a second chance at love story about a couple who were separated by the h's politically ambitious father. Now, nine years later, she has returned to her home town to become a governess. The H is a wealthy and important member of society.
That's it for today, ladies. All the books, except WILLOW'S SECRET, appear to be new books; there are no reviews. TTYL!

Thanks, Rachel. I am, but I'm also looking forward to some rest and relaxation. I'm feeling like I'm coming down with something...AGAIN! Ugh! How are you doing?
BTW I read the ending of that AUGUST title that's one the list. The H has FOUR children; it looks like the h might have been working for him taking care of the kids, but I'm not positive about that. I do know that he's engaged to another woman and the engagement doesn't get broken off until right before the very ending of the book--I didn't like that. I mean like he broke off the engagement on his wedding day!!! And then he was thinking that it was too soon to go after the h--she had left--because it would cause a scandal being so close after his broken engagement. The idiot actually thinks to himself, maybe in a year or two? WTF?! It's not like his fiancee had died and he was supposed to observe a period of mourning for chrissake. Even his kids got disgusted with him. LOL Anyhow, I'm assuming that the H was already engaged when the h returned to her hometown. Also, the H and h had sex while the H was engaged to this other woman. I'm not liking any of that. :-( The writing isn't bad though and the story seems like it will be a good one; all depends on what you like as a reader.

I know. I can't believe it either. The fact that I've been running around like a crazy chicken doesn't help either. Plus the weather here is from one extreme to the other. Just a few days ago we were in the 50's and overcast. Yesterday it was 70's and hot as heck. Today it's overcast once more, but still warm. My poor body is confused. LOL
Ya it's too bad about that book. I like to encourage new authors, but I just don't think the story will do it for me. I don't like when one or other of the protagonists is involved in a serious relationship with another person--sex is a definite no, but even a platonic engagement is a turnoff for me. And I REALLY hate the fact that the engagement didn't get called off until almost the very end of the book. Ugh! That means for the entire story he was unavailable. How the hell does a romance get developed from that?!
And I really hate the fact that they slept together when he was engaged; I know it's supposed to show how drawn to each other they were; how in love, but as far as I'm concerned if that is the case he should have immediately called off the engagement after they slept together. I think the engagement had something to do with political aspirations. The fiancee's father is a judge and the H has plans to run for mayor with the judge's backing, but it really doesn't make any difference to me. This is the reason why I used to read the end of books BEFORE I bought them. ROTFL!
But to be fair, the book would probably make a good read for someone who doesn't care about those aspects of the story. I know I'm picky, and God knows you are! LOL But there are many readers who have different issues that might love this one. The writing wasn't bad. I've read the ending of books and thought to myself; what the hell? The quality of the writing was that bad; poor grammar, lack of punctuation, points that make absolutely no sense, and on and on. At least this one seemed engaging.
No work today?

Exactly. Someone who is into that kind of thing. I have work today and the next three days lol!! I am trying to decide if I want to pick up call tonight too! :)
It does sound like a bad read. I have been reading scandalous wager by christy Carlyle. Rf I know you liked this one I read your review. It's been a rough couple days and hope to have some good ones to make up for it. I'm off until the weekend not many clients coming my way. I'm praying that soon changes. Hope you ladies have a wonderful day with no cold RF. that just sucks your getting sick again.

Well have a great day at work, Rachel! I'm sorry to hear that work has been so slow, EB. Unfortunately, that is one of the drawbacks of that type of work. When I first started doing home health, it was great, but then things got slow and after a while it didn't make sense to keep paying for childcare on the off chance that I'd get called for a visit. That's why I decided to just stay home full time. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get some hours soon.
Yes, I liked SCANDALOUS WAGER. It was different, and I was surprised at how much I did like it. Of course it's a short story so it's not an epic tale or anything like that, but I thought it was entertaining. LOL
I'm reading another short story CR. I read one yesterday by the same author and am reading another right now. It's a good read; sweet romance between a couple who were friends first.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. This first one is pretty unusual. It's a set of two books that follows the lives of three travelers over a period of 16 years...two men and one woman. According to the blurb...Set in the nineteenth century, The World Duology (World Odyssey / Fiji: A Novel) follows the fortunes of three young travelers. Their dramatic adventures span sixteen years and see them engage with Native American Indians, Barbary Coast pirates, Aborigines, Maoris and Pacific Islanders as they travel around the world - from America to Africa, from England to the Canary Islands, to Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Fiji. The blurb also goes into more detail about the story in each book.

ROBBER BRIDE is a repeat freebie. It's a regency romance about a h who becomes a highway woman to make a difference in the world. The H is an earl, a childhood friend, who comes to her rescue when she gets in trouble with the magistrate.
THE BARON AND THE BLUESTOCKING is written by G.G. Vandagraff. It's book 6 in her Six Rogues and Their Ladies series. I've read one of the books in the series, RESCUING ROSALIND and thought it was an okay read. While I thought the writing was good, I did have a few issues with the storyline. I gave that book 3 1/2 stars, I think. Anyhow, I definitely plan on reading another book by this author.
NORTHERN LIGHT I believe is another repeat freebie, but I can't be sure. Anyhow, the reviews are meh...an overall 3 star rating. I'm not sure what all the issues are that readers had with it, but it's supposed to be a sequel to Elizabeth Gaskell's NORTH AND SOUTH and one reviewer indicates that this book "lost the flavor" of that story.
OF LOVE AND LUST is an erotic romance between a married couple. The couple have been married for four years and have an okay sex life. It's set during the regency period when it was believed that "ladies" couldn't enjoy the act. Anyhow, the h is convinced that her husband is "proper", but one night he reveals his true self to her and what results is one hot and steamy night. I read this one and liked it; I really liked the fact that it was a married couple. It's super short; only about 20 pages. And it's erotic so it's graphic.
Another book in the Taking the High Road series. This one is book 7, BENTON YANCEY. The series is about ten brothers, each of whom finds his own lady love. We've had books 2, 3, 4, and 6 on our freebie lists in the past. In this story Benton is a doctor who meets and falls in love with the h, who is an assistant to the woman who runs the local orphanage.
RANIA ROPES A RANCHER is another repeat freebie from a previous list. It's once again available for free.
The KINDLING HEART is a highland romance. The h is forced to marry the H in place of another woman in an arranged marriage.
GAMBLING WITH LOVE is a mail order bride romance. The h works in a saloon under the direction of an abusive man. She has a best friend who has been corresponding with the H, a rancher who is looking for a bride. The h's friend is sick, but doesn't tell the h. Presumably she becomes deathly ill so asks the h to take her place. The h continues corresponding with the H, but doesn't tell him the truth about her friend. It's a novella; about 50 pages.
That's it for today, ladies. Have a nice day!!

Yea I have a new male client tomorrow. He's my first male client but I am sure we will get along splendidly. How are you feeling today RF? Enjoying your peace and quiet? I started reading Midnight KissI got it from the freebie list.

Good news regarding the new client! My day started at the ungodly hour of 3 a.m. this morning. My parents had a 6 a.m. flight out of Boston so we had to get them there for 4:30. I am EXHAUSTED! The quiet has been nice, but I'm still waiting for the peace to kick in. LOL
BTW did you ever grab a copy of the new Holt novella, book 2 of the Cynfell Brothers series, SINFUL DEEDS? It was on the freebie list two days ago. It's Julian's brother's story.

Yes I got it and started reading but decided to hold off on it. It wasn't fitting my mood at the time. Yes I am sorry that your day started so early. Goodness mine's going to start at 5:30 tomorrow but we only get this client until Monday so I'm getting what I can you never know. I was in a funk yesterday trying to get insurance for the house was depressing but today boy I was just sent a peace with all that's going on around me. The weather here has been so nice today and now this new client.

I totally get it about the mood thing. I've been reading CR short stories to keep the reading juices flowing and hopefully avoid a slump, but today I'm at a total loss as to what I want to read. I tried reading that freebie from today's list GAMBLING WITH LOVE, but it seems the h and H connect almost the entire story via letters and it's not until almost the very end, literally 80% into the story that they finally come face to face and then he doesn't even know who she is because he thinks he's been corresponding with her friend the entire time. Then there was a lot of drama occurring at the time of the proposal and it all seemed somewhat anti-climatic. Furthermore, there are two more books about the couple, if you want to get their entire story. At least the first book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, but I was definitely not in the mood to read a book where the h and H are apart 80% of the story. Ugh! I was sorely disappointed though because the storyline, as described in the blurb, really appealed to me. Now I'm at a loss.
It's good that you got some peace today; you're overdue for some good news! Enjoy it while it lasts because before you know it another load of stress will be dropped in your lap...isn't that always the way? We're having beautiful weather here too. It's been in the 70's all week so far, and I think it's supposed to continue for the rest of the week. It's kinda hard to be in the dumps when it's so nice outside.

I agree with you about the gambling book. That stinks. Your in the CR mood again aye. Did you get Fragment or does it not sound good either? I got one from my library Aspoon recommended to me. It's called Ugly Love. It's a tear jerker. You know I read the end and it is sweet but I wanted to clear out some shorties I have on my Kindle first. If they suit my mood. Lol
I am totally drawn to the bad boy, alpha guy at the moment. A lord St. Vincent would be fabulous right now I think. Lmbo
Elizabeth wrote: "I am totally drawn to the bad boy, alpha guy at the moment. A lord St. Vincent would be fabulous right now I think. Lmbo"
Oh please, that's just an excuse! As far as you are concerned a Lord St. Vincent would be fabulous anytime. LOL
I want a book where the H is dedicated to the h right from the get go. FRAGMENT might fit the bill, but I'm feeling in the mood for a western...don't ask me why. I also have another CR where the h and H are a divorced couple, but they live in the same small town. He's never given up on her, but has given her space. I mean like the man hasn't been with another woman in the two years since his divorce; he still refers to her as his wife and tells his mother that the "ex" is merely a legal technicality, and still calls the h "baby." Sigh That one has been hovering in the background, but I'm not quite in the CR mood; at least not to read a full length novel. :-(

Aw RF! I hope you start to feel better and get some much needed relaxation. I have to say that book about the divorced couple sounds great with the hero remaining faithful!!! ;) what's the name of it??EB - Ugly Love by Coleen Hoover?!? I am shocked you liked it. I am not even remotely interested in that book. I can't take it when a hero can't get over a past relationship. I like the heroines to be number one. I will definitely be picking up Fragment at some point for sure lol. I am in a strange mood. I want a complete books - with marriage and babies and none of my triggers!!!! Lol!!!
Congrats on the new client by the way! Sometimes the men are my favorite. Work has been kicking my butt. I picked up an extra shift today where I went in at 6am and didn't get out until almost 8pm. I am so freaking tired!!! Lololol!!! Do it before kids though right?!?
Exactly with the kids comment. Knowing you the short time I have after that baby comes you will not want to be away long if at all. Lol. I didn't know he was hung up I just heard the writing is good and the ending was really cute. I haven't read any more but the end. I am reading a short CR called just to be with you by J A Cooper. It's cute. That shift sounds exhausting just listening about it. I did a 12 last Sunday and that was rough bc my client had a bad episode.
Oh no! :( that sucks and yeah honestly I don't know if you will actually like Ugly Love. Unless you don't mind gong almost the entire book with the hero missing his first love who is not even dead :/ he even calls out her name during sex ...
Omg thank you for the heads up. No way in hell is that going to happen! Well I'm off to bed I have to be up early

OMG! That's a huge HELL NO! Wtf?! Why do people think that's romantic...calling out someone else's name during sex? That's a major turn off! Ew! Thanks for the heads up. I'll avoid it like the plague too. LOL
It's true EB, oftentimes the male patients are better. Watch out though, some of them like to flirt. LOL So cute!
Well it's official, I'm sick again. I have a nasty cough and generally feel like crap. The good news is that I will be able to relax a little today. The only things I have to do is drop off and pick up my son from preschool. Hannah is taking the bus home and my hubby takes her to school in the mornings. Of course I have the usual other crap to do...make beds, etc., but I can live with that stuff. After that I'm going to try to find a good book and curl up and READ!
Kate, thanks for the rec. You've never steered me wrong before, so I'm sure the book is fine. Besides, I read the blurb and the lottery doesn't bother me in the least. At first I thought you meant he'd won her as a mistress or something, and was giving her time before she had to bed him. Even that I would have been okay with. I just like it when the couple have SOME tenderness feelings for one another before they sleep together--something that's missing more often than not in CRs. No wonder I'm so choosy about the CR's that I read. LOL Anyhow, so even if the H had won her as a prize, so long as he didn't force her to sleep with him, I would have been okay with it. The fact that she's a wife is even better. I've added it to my TBR list, but I think I'm going to follow EB's example and clear out some of my "short" reads off my TBR list. I'm in a strange mood so I'm hoping that reading a bunch of short stories will eventually steer me in a particular direction and I can read a book, book. LOL

Good morning, ladies. Here is today's freebie list. The pickings are a bit slim today. The first book is a western; the author is compared to ones such as Louis L'Amour. I honestly don't know if there is any romance included in the story, but if there I'd say it's not the dominant focus of the story. It's about a H who is bent on revenge after his ranch and loved ones have been stolen from him/killed. If you like straight westerns this may be a good one; it's gotten excellent reviews.

A SONG FOR GISELLE is the third book in the Maybrook Trilogy. Remember A VALENTINE FOR AUGUST that was on our freebie list a couple of days ago? Well the h in this book, Giselle, is August's sister in law...I'm assuming she is his former wife's sister. Anyhow, the h is a showgirl...she dances in the cabaret in Paris. She's now returning home to Maybrook and meets the H en route. Sounds like there is a lot of intrigue throughout the story with secrets, a hazardous journey home, and the H losing his memory.
DOUBLE WEDDING is a repeat freebie from our list back in December. It's a western about a h who becomes a mail order bride. The only problem is that the H didn't send for her; his sister did. I read this book and gave it 3 1/2 stars. The story was a good one, but it lacked a lot of details...and by that I mean the romance got skipped over.
WHISPER OF SEDUCTION is a cute short story; and I do mean SHORT. I read it a while back and really enjoyed it, despite the fact that it ended almost before it started. LOL It's set in regency times. The H is a marquess, I think. He and the h end up having an innocent encounter in the gardens at a ball one night and this leads to a scandal. The H ends up offering for the h. That's pretty much it, except the author, Tiffany St. Clair, tells the story a whole lot better than I. LOL FYI of course the couple do have feelings for one another. It was a five star read for me...yes even though it's only 29 pages!
THE FARMER TAKES A WIFE is about a H who has loved the h in secret for two years despite the fact that they've never spoken! He finally hits on a plan to make her his and begins the campaign. The h has no interest in marriage and has hardly even noticed the H, until the night he asked her to dance.
THE LOST ROSE is about a H who's family is determined to see him wed. To that end they plan a house party and invites a bunch of eligible ladies, much to his dismay. The h has amnesia. The only clue as to who she is is a locket with her name, Charlotte. She somehow ends up in the H's care. This one got mixed reviews; 28 reviews with an overall rating of 3 1/2 stars. I think this may have been the author's first book. One reviewer complained that it's too "modern."
Anyway, that's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

As a caregiver this is your week too, EB. So happy nurses' week to you too! Yes, I knew you'd hate that part of the story. Thank God Rachel told you about it! I'm glad you're enjoying your client!
I'm supposed to be resting, but of course I'm not. I'm busy straightening after having a houseful of visitors. I'll never learn. Sigh

Omg I've been reading Emily's Wish and I don't know if you guys grabbed it but it is really good. Emily finds a weird coin in a spring. When she reads it and wishes for her true love it turns hot and so she drops it back into the water. It's 2013. Then Edward is walking his lands when he comes to the same prior mentioned spring. He was shot in the leg and takes a break when he sees the same coin. He is in the year 1814. He follows the same order as Emily...you see where I'm headed with this right? So good. Hope you got some rest RF

Yes I got EMILY'S WISH. It's a time travel romance. He gets swept to the future, if I remember correctly. No, I didn't get any rest. I spent the entire morning and afternoon cleaning the upstairs of my house. Then I changed beds and did laundry. I was all done this afternoon, and doing homework with my daughter, when my son tried blueberries and ended up throwing up all over my bed! So now, I'm doing laundry AGAIN. LOL
They say there is no rest for the wicked...I must have done something really bad in my lifetime. :-) My hubby says I'm an idiot. Well actually *I* said I'm an idiot, and he agreed. LOL I don't know why I couldn't let myself rest today, but I just had a lot of stuff to do. You understand, I'm sure, EB. I need to do the rest of the house; I'll probably do some tomorrow and the rest Saturday. Then I'll be able to rest and relax on Sunday...Mother's Day!

Ooh blueberry puke does not sound fun especially since you already feel bad. It is a time travel yes and Edward travels ahead 200 years and now the plot thickens. Lol. The author is not rushing the story which is just making it so much more enjoyable. I am loving Edward. I hope someday one of you guys feel like reading it and share. I completely understand the mood being a factor. So you give your son some sprite a saltines? God my heart goes out to you. When my kids would have their occasional diarrhea and shoot it up their backs when they were babies was bad enough. When they through up, no thank you. You learn to deal but it really stinks. I hope you get some time to kick back.
EB - being an outlander fan, I do like time travel!! Do tell me if its "safe" for me and I'll read it ;) RF- you poor thing!! Lol!!!
I hope you both have a happy Mother's Day weekend AND happy nurse's week!!! :)

Hi Rachel. I am halfway done and the story is so good. Edward is struggling with how things have changed and this jealousy. He has no reason to be other then he is possessive over Emily. Sigh. Did you snag it off the freebie list? I should finish it tonight and will get back to you.
Rachel wrote: "Omg I can't find it!!"I seen it was no longer a freebie it was from awhile ago. Anyhow it is a loanable if you want me to loan it let me know. Unless you have kindle unlimited but I thought you said you had a nook but the kindle App.

I do have a nook and kindle app on my iPad mini. You can loan it to me if you don't mind when you finish and it's deemed safe!!! ;)
Good morning, ladies. It looks like y'all had a ton of fun without me last night. LOL I had both kids in bed, asleep at 8:30 last night. I was so exhausted that shortly thereafter I passed out...literally. I feel much better this morning for the full night's sleep. Thank God. Anyhow, yes the EMILY'S WISH book was on our freebie list several weeks ago/maybe even a few months back, unfortunately. Well, I'm off to check out the freebie section and will hopefully find a few books so that I can post a list for today. TTYL!
Okay ladies, here is today's freebie list. This first book, PRIDE AND PERSISTENCE, is another P&P variation. In this book, Darcy is knocked unconscious and loses his memory when he tries to deliver his letter--remember the letter?--to Elizabeth in a rainstorm.

MAIL ORDER REGRETS is about a wealthy Boston socialite who has become pauperized and decides to become a mail order bride. When she arrives, she discovers that her betrothed's reputation is not the best--he is known to be violent. The H is the man who is hired to transport her to her future husband's home. This is a full length novel, unlike a lot of the mail order bride stories we usually get.
CHEYENNE CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING is a repeat freebie. It was on one of our lists back in December. It's a western historical.
THE FORBIDDEN FLAME is about a h who is intent on finding the man who killed her brother. This leads her to some trouble, from which the H rescues her. He decides to keep her as a guest on his plantation. The blurb refers to the fact that the H is the man that the h is looking for, the notorious Black Lion. But presumably he is not the one who killed her brother, despite her belief that that his the case.
That's it for today, ladies. Short, but hopefully, sweet!

Good Morning RF. Glad to hear you crashed because you needed it. I finished Emily's Wish last night and then I crashed. LOL. It is totally safe Rachel not a wench in sight. The beginning of the book sort of sets your mind at ease because it is the coin that finds them not the other way around. I really liked it. All I need is your email address and I'll send it. You can post it and I'll keep checking and let you know when I got it and you can erase it or you can private message me on FB. Either way. There was something about Edward that just worked. I think it was the authors ability to describe him through Emily's eyes and that instant connection. Oh and his possessiveness when it came to her was a turn on for me. If you want a sizzling book though this isn't going to work. But as I recall you were looking for sweet. This will fit that mood.
I think I need to add your address too to my approved list in kindle right? It's been awhile, I'm so confused!!!
I loan it to your email address and wen you open it it will take you through the steps. You should get it for 14 days from the time you open it. If you don't open it right away it will stay in there for 7 days, I think. You shouldn't have to add any addresses it should download just like off the freebie list. You can have my email though. Here it is Jspringer1971@gmail.com Let me know when you got it and I will delete it.

Hi EB! Thanks! I really needed the rest, and it's done me so much good. Now if only I could get rid of that irritating tickle in my throat I'd be all good. LOL
No Rachel, you're thinking of when someone is trying to send you a book or document directly to your kindle/kindle app. When we loan books it goes through Amazon, so all we need is your regular email address. Everything is set up through Amazon and they are the ones that actually send you the email. As EB says, when you receive the email it pretty much walks you through the process. You can have the book for a total of 21 days, seven days before you have to download; if you don't the book gets sent back to the lender. Once you open the book, you have 14 days to read it. At the end of that time it automatically gets sent back to the owner. Or if you finish with it early you can go into your cloud and delete it and it will then be sent back. That last I learned from EB. Before her I didn't realize that you could return a loaner early. :-)
EB I'm glad you like EMILY'S. I love it when a freebie book turns out to be a great read! I think I'm ready to re-board the Reading Train. I even have a couple of books lined up and ready to go. Both are novella length, CRs that are, hopefully, sweet! Anyhow, I gotta run my little one to preschool. TTYL! Have a great day!
