KM is a continuation of the Grant Clan and SVH is the author I did the reviews and won. She wrote under his protection, under his guidance and now the 3rd is coming out. I've been waiting for over a month. The oldest brother is the H in this read. He is also an expected father and doesn't know it. That's a big secret in the story but you like spoilers anyhow.

Oh yes, I remember Haegert now. I haven't read anything by her, so no wonder I didn't remember the name. Her next book is due out soon, huh? You must really like her! As for the spoiler, I don't just like them, I LOVE them. LOL But how is it that he doesn't know he's an expectant father--an ex-girlfriend perhaps? Did you get any of his story in the earlier books?

under his discretion is the third book in the series. It is revealed that the queen is pregnant with Perkins child. His dying father tells Edward as he took his last breath, made him promise to conceal it from the king and Perkin as well. At the end of the book Edward has documents and knows he must keep it from his brother. It is a very good trilogy and I can't wait bc Perkin is the head of the family and has always kept his younger siblings safe and in line but in the third the tables will be turned.
Hey I just found a boxed set of ten different short reads for .99 and the authors sound pretty good.http://www.amazon.com/Fifty-Ways-Kill...
Good morning, ladies. Hey EB thanks for the tip regarding that set of books. I'm with you...I really do NEED more books! LOL I finished COMPROMISED FOR CHRISTMAS. It was a dud. Very disappointing. I don't know, but so far I've read three of those DANBY novellas and they've all left something to be desired. Actually, CFC is the first one that I've actually finished. The other two I abandoned about halfway through and decided I'd get back to them later; I've yet to do so. Anyhow, the idea for CFC is very good; a h and H who are spies for England. Unfortunately, the way the story was created I couldn't buy into the whole heroine being a spy angle. I think if it had been presented in another way it would have been more believable.
Anyway, let's get down to business. LOL Here are a few freebies for today. This first one is yet another PRIDE AND PREJUDICE variation. However, this one has several reviews (73 in fact) and has an overall 4.+ rating, which is really good, especially for a P&P ripoff. So many of them are just plain horrible! In this one, Elizabeth is traveling to London with Darcy and the Bingley sisters when they are attacked by highway robbers. Darcy ends up declaring that Elizabeth is his wife to save her from being taken by the highwayman. EB this might be a good one for you!

DISORDERLY LADY is by Claudy Conn. I've read a couple of her books; she's pretty good. This one is about a h who is a little down when her latest flirt abandons her. Her brother takes her to London for a season where she meets an earl of dubious character. The circumstances surrounding their meeting are such that he mistakes her for a light skirt and she, for whatever reason, plays along. LOL This book has 21 reviews; all five stars. Of course this brings to mind a book I once read where all 20+ reviews were 5 stars, except one 4 star one; and I found it to be a most annoying read.
DARCY CHOOSES is yet another P&P variation. Lud This one is a novella of 120 pages; although I don't think the entire book consists of the story alone.
OMG! REMEMBRANCE OF THE PAST is ANOTHER P&P variation! Here is the synopsis for this one: In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet unexpectedly met Mr. Darcy while visiting Pemberley. In this "what if"; story, Elizabeth Bennet and her relatives - Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner - are in London, ready to start their tour to the Lakes in June. During this time, Elizabeth's path crosses with Mr. Darcy's again. However, Mr. Darcy is not alone in London: besides his close family - Georgiana and Colonel Fitzwilliam - an old and dear friend has returned and claimed a well-deserved place in their lives. This is a story about hopes and desires, about losses and fears, about second chances and happiness. This book also has a number of good reviews.
AN IMPETUOUS MISS is about an independent h who cannot maintain ownership of her inheritance without getting married, much to her dismay.
THE CLANDESTINE DUKE is about a H who goes undercover to find out the truth about his brother's death. He masquerades as a commoner and gets a job as a guard working for a wealthy merchant, the h's father. Of course the two fall in love. It sounds like this book has a lot of intrigue included in the plot.
That's it for today, ladies. EB at least one of those THREE P&P variations should appeal to you. TTYL!

Thanks RF I own the first book in paperback and need to say it S-U-C-K-E-D!! Darcy and Elizabeth get abducted and Darcy being the gentleman he was bred to be but Elizabeth behaves as a bitch. I skimmed through it and found it dull. Not to discourage you ladies just a warning. Sometimes I read the reviews and have to scratchy head about them. I just don't get it.
I read this review from the white rose trilogy I talked about it was for under his guidance and in it one reviewer claimed that SVH wrote like Austin. Now I love the series but being completely honest Austen never had Darcy saying Bingley likes cock. Lmao Could you imagine. Austen fans everywhere would be swooning. SVH writes well and I like her books but JA she is not. Her characters are playful and fun the villains are many and wicked but her language does not read as JA. It is the Victorian period but for someone to tell readers she writes as Austen is a plain lie. The reviewer should have said language is crude at times. Now me crude can be good bc it creates a more sinister plot for me. Now I like Austen but I don't want just her style and if in the review it read the similarities between the two but then stated be aware there are parts with sex and crudeness uncharacteristic of Austen that would have been better. I truly would not have compared the two. I like both for totally different reasons with the end result being the same...good entertainment that suited my mood.

Haha I hear you EB. There's no accounting for taste. Thanks for the head up. I'll delete it immediately. I wasn't sure about it to begin with anyway.

I agree. JA's style is actually kind of dry; very true to the period, I think, but definitely not for everyone. I too could never just go with her style; it would become too boring after a while.

Yes it would. I finished a CA book and am over halfway done with Montclair's book. It is not without editing issues but fine just the same. I read your review for JC's book I was surprised you gave it 3 stars with the tone of the review. You were generous. I agree with your perception I just let more slide I think. Lol. Her being so free with her virtue was just ridiculous. I think the author had her genres confused. Lol

Umm yes, I gave it three because I still liked it despite the issues I had. Honestly, the biggest hurdle for me is the believablity. I just couldn't accept her being a spy under those conditions. She might be expected to use her body to get information? That would have played better had she been a widow. Furthermore, even though her father may not have been aware of the potential for that requirement, her uncle would have been, and I just don't see them going along with THAT! Not for an aristocratic innocent. And she seemed so unconcerned about it. Not to mention the fact that she as so attached to the idea of spying even though she admitted that the assignment had been rather boring. Wasn't that the reason she didn't want to be bothered with another London season? And I wasn't too happy about the ending. I thought it was stupid that she was wondering if they'd be able to work together--as if her husband would let her go off on an assignment without him--assuming the Home Office would even TRY to separate them. I think you're right--in light of all my complaints I was probably too generous with the 3 stars, but it wasn't terrible. LOL
Speaking of dry books, I'm reading THE JEWELLED SNUFF BOX right now. It's definitely old school. I can hardly understand half of what the lower class folks are saying when they speak. LOL

I wasn't criticizing your reasons really I agree it was a stretch I am usually the one who is called too generous that's all. That was Marisa's Choice for me. It had that same effect on me. I originally gave it 3 stars but changed it bc it was not at the same level as other 3 star ratings from the past. I really was disappointed and expected to read about more than a coule kisses. Will was so detached and than when he finally got a clue Marisa was lost it was so annoying

Oh please, EB! I know you're not criticizing. LOL I agree that maybe I as little generous, but not too much when I think about how it made me feel. I did like it well enough. So I guess the 3 is okay. According to Amazon, 2 stars mean you didn't like the product and I definitely can't say that. I don't' know, I just didn't find it too believable, but the first 2/3 of the book was still pretty good. The ending was too rushed. It's funny though; we each gave it 3 stars for slightly different reasons. LOL
Anyhow, MARISA'S CHOICE yes I know you were disappointed. It takes real talent to get a reader to like a character that you don't get any insight from. Especially when their behavior is questionable. That's Joan Wolf. She writes a lot of first person stories, but even the ones that are written in the third person, she doesn't give any insight into the H's thoughts or feelings so the reader is left to figure them out from his actions, and from the thoughts and perspective of the heroine. I've read two of her books, and despite this major drawback, I liked both. Actually one is my all time favorite CR that I recently found after years of searching and the other is a regency romance. I wont even bother reading her first person account books, though. You know how I feel about first person.

Thanks for the tip about Wolf. I don't mind first person sometimes but that's if I find it easy to relate to the person telling the story. If I see similarities to myself it totally sells it for me. Like in fsog you don't hear Christians thoughts but threw Ana and his time together it is easy to figure him out. He also does tell Ana how he feels, his struggles, his past it is his thoughts that are a mystery. You want to be Ana saving him from himself. Wills thoughts were unclear for 2/3 of the book. It makes a big difference for me
Good morning, ladies! There are no new freebies for today, unfortunately! Anyhow, just to keep you informed, my children are on Spring break this upcoming week, so while I will still try to post a freebie list everyday, most likely it will be later in the morning that I usually do it.
I just finished The Jewelled Snuff Box. It was a delightful story; one which very much put me in the mind of Jane Austen in that it was very authentic. The actions and speech of the characters was very true to the time period; so much so that I had a hard time deciphering what it is characters of the "lower orders" were saying when they spoke. LOL In any event, I plan to start reading JQ's Splendid later today...hopefully! We're taking the kids to an afternoon movie and early dinner so I'll have to wait and see how the day plays out. I'm hoping to get to my book before the end of the day.
Have a great weekend everyone! TTYL!

You too both of you. I am getting ready for work. I work a 9 hour shift today so I won't be home until nine thirty. I read Sinful Confessions. It was on the freebie list a while back and it's by Samantha holt. It is short and a great read. It's a safe one Rachel. Loved it!! Ttyl

I LOVE Samantha Holt. I haven't read anything by her yet that I don't like! Is the five star review for it your then, EB?
Get drunk for the two us, Rachel! LOL Sorry about your monthly visitor. I too get depressed when mine comes along each month, but for a completely different reason--I am so ready for menopause! I mean I've had my kids WHY do I need to keep having periods? LOL

RF you crack me up. Yes Rachel have fun and live it up when you have your kids you'll be getting drunk for a other reason. Lmao. Yes 5 stars loved it.
RF - you are a riot haha but i have to agree with you on that!!! I will enjoy myself. I have a few suggestions from a friend that I will try this month and we will see what happens. I'm trying not to stress and think everything happens for a reason.Phew ladies!! Just spent almost 3 hours cleaning my house!!! I didn't have the supplies to mop, so that has to wait unfortunately. But I do feel like a weight has been lifted haha.
EB - I am glad you found a good safe read!!! :)
Rachel wrote: "RF - you are a riot haha but i have to agree with you on that!!! I will enjoy myself. I have a few suggestions from a friend that I will try this month and we will see what happens. I'm trying not ..."
That sucks, Rachel. I like being able to completely finish cleaning in one fell swoop. Having to wait would irritate me too. I agree with EB, have your fun now because when you have kids you're gonna WANT to drink but not be able to. Those little sucks leech themselves into every single aspect of your life. And forget your personal time!
If you ask my children what I want as a birthday/Christmas present they will tell you "Mommy wants peace and quiet!!!!!" LOL We just got home from dinner and a movie--or maybe it was movie and late lunch. We saw the kids' movie, HOME. It was pretty cute. I need someone to watch my kids...I wanna see MALL COP. :-)
I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. I was all set to read SPLENDID by JQ, but now I'm thinking I might read that Samantha Holt one, The Warrior's Reward. That was a freebie from a couple of weeks back and it looks really good. Anyhow, I'll figure it out. TTYL

Hey ladies Samantha Holt has another freebie that is entitled One Knight. I don't know if it's as good as her others but here's the link.
http://www.amazon.com/One-Knight-Coll...
It's 9 pages I think I can squeeze that in but what the heck is up with so short a read? It must be a prequel so it shall wait

Oh yeah, baby! I've read her ONE KNIGHT collection! They are short and sweet. This lady writes everything--regency, medieval, erotic, and highland--and they are all GOOD! It's amazing to find an author who crosses so many boundaries and still manages to keep the stories good. I'm reading her CHRISTMAS SEDUCTION, and so far it's pretty good. She even has the titles correct! Quite a feat that!

Indeed...I seen your review RF and silly me of course you've read it. Lol. I work today and I'm reading one knight bc I can squeeze it in. My client worried a lot yesterday and so I didn't get to read any of SCH's book so I'm saving it for tomorrow when I have more time. I go back to the same client as yesterday and don't think we'll get much time to read. She worried I'd leave her yesterday. It would be awful to have that fear there. It is real to her. Anyhow I took her in and her play me some music while I looked at some photos and the lady played silent night on the piano from memory. She didn't know the name but new the keys. I am curious with this book 9 pages isn't a lot to work a story so I do love her writing and want to see how she pulls this one off. I have a warriors reward by her I just haven't got to it yet. Oh and you'll be glad to know my library called to say they had another book for me and I turned it down. But it was bc I already have it. Lol. Annie's Song.

You and your love affair with your library is hilarious! LOL So they called you for a book you already had? I did see that you were reading ANNIE'S SONG a while back...or did you just list it as "want to read"? I could've sworn I saw that you were reading it though.
Have you read Holt's CHRISTMAS SEDUCTION? If you haven't you should add it to your list. The H is a duke, he and the h are married. They had three dances before he proposed to her, then one month after they marry, he sees her in the arms of her "lover" and takes off.
The story starts with him coming back home one year later. He wants to get her pregnant, but doesn't really know how to go about seducing her into his bed. He thinks she's cold and haughty. In reality the poor thing is just extremely shy and was raised by a couple of unfeeling parents who made her feel inadequate. Of course there isn't a lover, the H was mistaken. Anyhow, what's really sweet about it is that not only was the h a virgin; so was the H. He also was completely faithful to her during the one year separation; even though he thought to himself that it hadn't been easy because he had met many beautiful women during that time, but none of them were like Emma (the h).
I'm just finding it very touching because he feels inadequate in the bedroom and doesn't know how to go about seducing her; and so does she. She is determined to get pregnant before he leaves again so she can have a baby to love. It's really very sad because I think this was the way most marriage started back then; the two hardly knowing each other, but never taking the time to learn about one another. He married her because; she's beautiful, rick, and made his stomach tingle, and his family was pushing for the match. Can you imagine? But he really wanted a better marriage than his parents, but when he saw her with the other man, he felt like he'd been a fool and he was doomed to have history repeat itself.
Anyway, that one is really short too; only about 80 pages. Have a great day at work! It sounds like you're doing a wonderful job with your client. You must have the patience of Job. It's no easy dealing with the insecurities of another person.

Ok I got the one knight box set I am loving book one. She is a very good author. The one your reading sounds perfect but will have to wait until I catch up. I see she has a couple different knight series one is the black knights and another is the Fae good to have a go to author isn't it? I haven't read any of the synopsis to know I will enjoy. I love the sound of the pair in your book as you know my favor for a juicy Duke. Lol
Elizabeth wrote: "Ok I got the one knight box set I am loving book one. She is a very good author. The one your reading sounds perfect but will have to wait until I catch up. I see she has a couple different knight ..."
Look here Missie, ALL those books--not the ONE KNIGHT ones--have been on our freebie lists. Have you not been grabbing them?!! CHRISTMAS SEDUCTION was a freebie back over the holiday and at least one of the FAERIE books was on our freebie list, but I think it may actually have been two of them. Book one I got a long while back. BLACK KNIGHT, WHITE KNIGHT and the one that you're reading are all included in the ONE KNIGHT COLLECTION. There is a fourth one in the set too, but I can't remember off hand what the title for that one is.
BTW I'm sorry, but I believe her books are loanable, so if there is anything else you wanna read, but don't have, let me know. I haven't loaned any of those books so they are available. I have all three of her FAERIE books, but so far I've only read the first book. Assassin was another good one. I read that one earlier this year. It's a medieval romance. That too was on our freebie list.
Look here Missie, ALL those books--not the ONE KNIGHT ones--have been on our freebie lists. Have you not been grabbing them?!! Yeah I saw that the black knight, white knight, highland knight is added in the set. The box set does not follow the book number order. I go to work here in just a bit so have a nice day. I get done at 4.

What?! Missie isn't your name? LOL It IS when you don't grab good freebies!!!!! I hate to think of you missing out, MISSIE Janet! Is that better? I hope you have a good day at work! I went to church and then went running; first by myself and then with the kids who insisted on running today. LOL My legs are so sore! It's only my second time running in almost a year.

You ladies are so funny! Running is awesome! Travis and I have been going on long walks on the weekends ... like 5-8 miles (not running!) but sadly, this weekend, I don't think we are going to get to it :(
Missie Janet? I feel like when my mom use to scold me and call me Janet Lee. Lol. Anyhow I am not worthy of your freebie wisdom and will try to make you proud in the future. Run? No I am a walker like you Rachel. I admire your durability for running and I have been going on four mile walks myself. I wanted to go tomorrow but it shows rain so we'll see what happens.
Don't be too impressed, Rachel. When I was at my fittest I tried to get to five miles, but never made it past 4 1/2. Now that I haven't run in a while, I'm back down to about two miles. The most I ran last year was 3 1/2. What's truly impressive is that my son--now 5--is a big runner. He was running with me last year and would do like 3 miles. He LOVES it.
As a matter of fact, he's been annoying the crap out of me for the past couple of months asking when we were going to go running again. I told him we'd have to wait for it to get warmer. I went yesterday without him and tried to sneak out today again, but he came to me before I even got dressed to say that he wanted to go running. Sigh. I like to run and listen to my headphones.
When I run with him I'm on high alert to keep him safe. Then there is the fact that he likes to talk to me and expects answers in response. So not only do I get winded from running, the conversation makes it worse. LOL
Yes, Missie Janet Lee do please TRY to keep up with the freebies, and I will try to do better to alert you to the authors that I've read and liked so you pay special attention to those books. We get so many new authors among the freebies, but every so often there is a favorite author among them. LOL Just remember that anything of Holt's you wanna read, check with me first. More than likely I'll have it.

I like to listen to my headphones too RF and now with my smart phone can download any song which I love the variety to choose from. Old 80's stuff but my niece wants to do it together and so I am sucking it up while she's still here. Not to sound rude but when I jam and walk I never seem to think about how much further as I do when we just talk that's all. She's moving in August so I need to spend as much time as I can with her and her little girl Anna. I will try to focus sometimes that old reading disability flares up and miss things.

Haha Don't worry about the missing freebies. I will try to do better with my alerts. LOL
Anyhow, yes I hear you and agree 100%. I run much better when I listen to music. I love my son dearly and he is great company, but he just chatters away while we're running, and of course I can't listen to my headphones because I have to be watching out for him. Sigh. I too will just have to suck it up. Like you say, when they are gone we will miss them.
Your niece is moving, huh? I'm sure you will miss her. I know how close you both are. Where is she moving to?

I'm closer with her older sister Audrey but since Amanda has gotten older we hang out more. Her husband is in the army and right now is in Korea but will be stationed in North Carolina in August. :( It's hell when they grow up and move away and they're not my kids so god help me if mine ever want to leave Ohio. Lol. Anyhow I am home and got time to start highland knight. Omg it's going to be good I can feel it. Lmao
Hey RF get this. I did a review on Keira Montclairs new book. The desperate highlander ( btw Alex Grant is in it) and Keira Montclair complimented me on my review. It was on Amazon. She left a message on the book prior too on my review.

It is sad when they move away, and you're right. It's gonna be a lot worse when it's your own kids. Forget about them leaving Ohio; leaving your house will be bad enough. LOL
That's nice about KM leaving a comment. Obviously she recognizes you as a fan and appreciates you. It's gotta be hard being an author; putting yourself out there for others to criticize.
I'll have to check out your review. So my beloved Alex is in this latest book, huh? What's he up to and how is his precious Maddie. LOL
Yes, I think you're gonna like the ONE KNIGHT COLLECTION. I liked a couple of them better than the other two, but overall I thought they were all good. She really does an excellent job considering how short each story is.

I couldn't resist. I decided to read another Holt novel before reading my next JQ book. I just finished Christmas Seduction--five stars, of course, and started The Warrior's Reward. After that one then I will read JQ's Splendid. LOL
I did a review on her one book and I laid it all out and it was brutally honest. I am just as complimentary if I like it and you know me as soon as a book comes out by her I'm on it. Alex is looking after his cousin's future and she is doomed with this shmuck when Alex learns his true nature. He is a man above men and I totally picture CH playing the part for him. Lol

So the H and h are Alex's cousin and Ramsay's brother? Ramsay is Alex's brother in law, right? Brianna's husband? We met the brother in their story, I think. BTW I just read your review and voted it helpful. Some schmuck had voted it unhelpful. :-(

I really don't worry about negative votes bc I know what I put in my reviews would help me choose whether or not to by it. Based on what I wrote I would buy it. Those who don't find it helpful are dumb IMO. What is it that person is wanting to see in a review? Was I too harsh with my critique? No bc IMO if a person sees that there are flaws but the major selling parts are there who cares. They are things I want to know about so screw any dip shit that is bored bc I know my review helps but thank you
I just saw you finished SH and started the other. It's funny when I started the sinful read there were no review so finished it in couple hours and there were several there. I laughed.
Good morning, ladies! Here are a few freebies for today; at least I think it will be a few. So far I've only found one. Sigh

This first one, ROSE, is a mail order bride. Anyone remember THE BRIDES OF BECKHAM series? In that story there was a lady who ran a mail-order bride service and she founds husbands for east coast ladies who traveled west. Well now, that lady has married and is now finding husbands for her eight nieces by marriage. ROSE is the first. She is a pampered Seattle socialite who sets her sights on a newly arrived dentist. They marry, but when she confesses her love on their wedding night, he tells her that he didn't marry for love. And from there the story goes on...
ROSEBUD is about a h whose parents have died leaving her alone to run the family ranch. The H shows up with a claim to half the ranch, but the h is determined to get rid of him. To that end she holds him at gunpoint when he first arrives. LOL
THE LOST CENTURION is a paranormal romance with vampires and immortals. The H was a Roman centurion who has been an immortal for over two thousand years. He is set on exacting revenge against the vampire who killed his wife. In his travels he comes across the h who has newly been turned into a vampire--she's a vampling. LOL Anyhow, the H takes her under his wing and protects her even as vampires are determined to get rid of them both. I'm not sure why they are after the h, but the H will have to choose between saving the h from the vampire who ruined his life or take his revenge. It's in the HR section, but I'm not sure whether the story is a historical or contemporary romance.
MOOD INDIGO is about an aristocratic English lady who sells herself into indentured service to an American because she wants to follow the love of her life to the colonies. A bit far-fetched, but there you have it. Apparently she and her "owner" end up in a marriage of convenience when she is compromised and eventually fall in love. I'm am providing a link to Sandy Milan's review because she provides some additional details about the story, such as the fact that both characters were in love with other persons for a good deal of the book. Ugh!

The three pirate titles are books 1, 2, and 3 of THE STEALING A PIRATE'S HEART series. All three are new books; no reviews for far. STEALING A PIRATE'S HEART, book one, is about a H who is a pirate. The h takes over her sick mother's job as a housekeeper. This is when she and the H meet. I'm not sure if she is HIS housekeeper or what, seeing as he is the Captain of a ship.
MUTINY OF THE HEART is book two in the series. It's about the daughter of the H and h in book one--I think. The h is now captain of her father's pirate ship. Her father decides she needs a first mate and chooses the H for the position.
BOUNTY OF HER HEART is the third book in the series and is about a h who is finally getting to go on her first voyage with her grandfather. Now that I've read the blurb for the first two books, it is a distinct possibility that the h in this book is the granddaughter of the H and h in book one, but that's just a guess. The h has always been fascinated with the life of a pirate. Anyway, the h meets the H who arrives on her doorstep during his search for the father that he never knew. When he does find his father he decides to try the life of a pirate for the h, not his father, so presumably his father is a pirate? The blurb is a bit unclear.
That's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something of interest on the list. TTYL!
