Good morning, ladies. Hey EB did you see the comment I left for you yesterday? The one with the link for the Marisa book you said you wanted to read? Anyhow, in case you missed it, here's the link again.

http://smile.amazon.com/Marisas-Choic...
Here are a few freebies for today, ladies! This first one is a repeat from a previous list. It is book four in Driscoll's Kellington Series.
http://smile.amazon.com/Never-Run-Lov...
http://smile.amazon.com/Tenacious-Tam...
http://smile.amazon.com/At-Odds-Desti...
http://smile.amazon.com/Historical-Ro...
http://smile.amazon.com/Loved-So-Long...
In TENACIOUS the h, Tansy, is left penniless by her late father, has been working as a governess. She then ends up playing chaperone to a distant cousin, the sister of a duke, no less. Ashley Benedict, Duke of Avonall, is a man beleaguered. His grandmother is a terror, his sister a lovely but none-too-bright chit, his valet a superstitious twit, and his aunt Lucinda is ... well, odd. Now, Ashley has a new problem ... how to keep himself from falling for Tansy Tamerlane. This one sounds like a fun read!
AT ODDS WITH DESTINY is a set of ten novels of a wide variation. It includes a romance, crime fiction, and biblical fiction to name a few. The first review is pretty informative about the various books. The second review does give a more in depth overview of each title, but neither review gives a lot of details.
LAST CHANCE FOR LOVE is a fantasy/romance set during the medieval period. It's about a h who tries to save her village and her lover. Sorry, but that's all the info I have about it; and that I got from the two reviews that are available. The blurb is sadly lacking in detail.
LOVED SO LONG is about a h who has loved her older brother's best friend and cowboy, Beau Weston, forever. When Beau rides into town after a mysterious three year absence, Amy discovers the love she harbors may not be as unrequited as she thought. Can Amy overcome her insecurities and win Beau's heart for her own?
That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

RF thanks for Marisa's Choice it disappeared for a while off Amazon and then the author liked my review on here a couple weeks ago. I thought 4.99 was too much to spend on it but I did pay the 2.99. I wanted to use my GC but apparently there was a mix up and when I went to order some stuff it took it from my GC so I had to get a hold of them to straighten it out. I want my GC for just books and I thought I pushed the right button for it to go out of the GC but it didn't take. I sent them some feedback. It's a pain. I want to read Marissa's Choice now.
Hello ladies!! I finally finished Mac's book and loved it!! Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I read the teaser for Cameron's book. If that is the only scene with another woman, I can deal BUT my biggest issue is how he doesn't really care for his son. I was able to learn a lot about him in these last two books and I feel sorry for his son Daniel. Daniel even knows that Cameron would rather be off bagging ladies then being a dad to him. I just don't see how I can ever like him as a character. Which is a shame because I like the heroine of that book. Oh well - I will probably read the Christmas novella soon!! Enjoy the birthday party today EB!! Those boys will certainly keep you busy haha!!! My day will come!

Oh good! I'm glad you grabbed a copy. Yes I had it listed on my wish list when it was $4.99 but then it said it wasn't available for a while. I've been keeping a look out for it and saw it yesterday. She must have pulled it; this version may have been updated. Who knows?

I am so glad you like Mac ans Isabella. Did you get choked up when Isabella confessed how she needed him and all the pain she felt after the baby. Well I am officially surrounded by six young men. On of my sons friend is as tall as me now has a mustache and squeaky voice. I am so not ready for Josh to go there yet. RF I think they were doing updates too. It's pretty good so far.
Well I had to have Amazon call bc that whole mess from earlier was mixed up and they were going to erase marisa's choice. So after 15 minutes with customer service they not only fixed the other items but credited my account the cost of the book so I got it for free. Did you read the 1st book kate? As far as the hospital aids you live and learn. I know where their attitude stemmed from and being wiser now I can handle it if it happens again. Her son and family appreciated me and Martha was better too so the hell with the others.

I agree with Kate 100%. You are the eyes and ears of the family and some of those institutions do have staff that is less than caring; or maybe I should say there is always a bad apple among the bunch.
That's awesome re MARISA!!! That's one thing I love about Amazon; every time I've had to complain about something they toss a few bucks my way. LOL
Kate, thanks for the tip re TENACIOUS. Is it one of those silly funny stories? It almost sounds like it is. I too grabbed LOVED SO LONG. It sounds pretty good.
Anyhow, I just got home from taking the kids to the park. We spent a couple of hours there, then went to McDonalds for a late lunch. My daughter's best friend and her mother were with us, so it was a fun time. I'm taking them--the girls--to see CINDERELLA tomorrow. I've gotta go get some reading done now!

Ugh yall!! Living in New Orleans is HOT. Today was okay. Overcast so it was high 70's and muggy. My husband and I just walked 8 miles around the city and had lunch. It was nice!
Well my book disappeared while I was at my clients last night and so the promo they gave me compensated for its disappearance. I have bodies scattered everywhere this morning. Lmbo they are so much taller than they all use to be and our house is small so we have two in the family room two in the game room and my oldest snuck upstairs to his own bed. RF the sun is already shining outside. I'm going to take the boys to see the Avengers age Of Ultron. I'll get to see CH yummmmn! My kids say in the comic books he dies in this one bc of stupid ironman. He does come back bc I said he is supposed to be a god and they don't die. Hey said yea he does live. I'm like he better or I'm done with watching the avengers. Lol

Well the almost chose Ohio for the location bc it is rear that the sun makes an appearance. However we do get humidity. The sun is making one of it's strange appearances today and I am loving it. Sparkling vampires beware. LMAO.

Good morning, EB! So let me get this straight, they gave you $2.99, but took the book? Or did they just credit you for the book, THEN took it?
Hey Rach, I don't envy you living in the south. I lived in FL for a number of years. The summers there are brutally HOT! My mom lives near Central FL and I take the kids to visit her every summer...it's like staying in Hades. LOL
How was the party, EB? It was a sleepover? How many boys? God love ya!

I talked with a rep in a live chat and what he was supposed to do is cancel my order but leave the book I bought. I called after an email told me that the book would be cancelled soon. I asked to be called and they ended up crediting my account $3 incase it did cancel. I wanted to see how it ended and when I went out of the book it was gone. 5 boys counting my 2 stayed the night.

RF- hades is a good description!!! Lol!! By the way, I'm reading the Julia Quinn book and Claire is pissing me off!! I feel terrible for Ellie. They just got in a fight over his list which talks about adultery. He is in the dog house LOLOL!! EB - sounds like a fun day! My husband wants to go walking again today but I'm not feeling so great today. Plus it's supposed to rain. Glad the party was a success!

Haha Yes I too was pissed off with Claire. I liked her better later on, but still felt she should have gotten more of a punishment. There's no question that she was sorry; however, and she and Ellie become great friends. Yes, poor Charles surely did mess up with that list. LOL Ellie takes no crap!!!! Isn't Judith just adorable though?
EB that sucks about you breaking even. So basically they just refunded your money for the book, is that right? That hardly seems fair considering how THEY are the ones that messed up in the first place. That's one thing I don't like about Amazon is the fact that you always have to check to make sure a purchase isn't using your GC. Oh but what's worse is that the subscribe and save items automatically get deducted from your GC balance and there isn't anything you can do about it. It's quite aggravating! Luckily I only have a couple such items. Glad to hear the party was a success!

She's a great writer but it's been a while since I've read any of her stuff so I can't really say if they're completely safe. You know, I remember the books generally and I liked them all, but the little details escape me. I'm pretty sure she's a safe author in general, but I'd have to investigate a little to refresh my memory.
Her Bridgerton series is great! It's about eight brothers and sisters; they each get their own book. I LOVED the first one. The eldest sister catches a sexy duke. He has a stuttering problem which he had to work very hard to control. If I remember correctly, he was treated terribly as a child because of it by his father. So he's a bit of a tortured hero. The two fall in love when they pretend to be courting. As far as I remember, it is safe. The second book is the eldest Bridgerton son's story, he's a viscount. I loved that one too. He decides to court a young lady, but her elder sister keeps getting in the way! LOL
The titles for those two are, The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me. Oh one thing that's really cute about the series is that there is a mysterious journalist who writes a column and no matter how much they try, no one can figure out who she really is AND she always seems to know everything!! There is speculation that she is a member of the ton. She goes by the name Lady Whistledown and is featured throughout the entire series. She even gets her own book in the end when her identity is finally revealed!
I also absolutely LOVED An Offer From a Gentleman. That one is second son, Benedict's story. His is a true Cinderella tale, complete with meeting his lady love at a masked ball. And she's not a member of the nobility. LOVED that one, but I'm a true sucker for a Cinderella story! FYI we saw the movie today and I really liked it. LOL
Oh oh oh here's one that I partially re-read last year, How to Marry a Marquis. Now this one I KNOW is safe!! And it's AWESOME! It's about a h who is orphaned and has to care for her younger siblings....you like kids and a couple of them are really young. I believe her brother is like six or something near to that age. Anyhow, she works as a companion to an aristocratic lady who is the H's aunt, or maybe she's his godmother I can't remember exactly.
Anyway he comes to investigate some threats against his aunt and pretends to be her new estate manager, but really he's a marquess. He meets the h and the two fall in love. What's funny is that when they first meet she bumped into him and dropped a book she'd just borrowed from the library, HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS. She was so embarrassed! If I remember correctly he volunteered to tutor her in how to catch a husband. ROTFL.
That book is very romantic, and when she discovers who he really is he has some groveling to do to win her back, but by then he was already in love with her and had decided to marry her. I think the only reason he had held off telling her his real identity was that he just wanted to finish with the investigation he was doing for his aunt, who BTW lied. There were no threats; she just wanted to get him and the h together. I loved the aunt, she is one of those crotchety old ladies that has a heart of gold underneath.
That book I flipped through last year, but I've read it more than once and I'll read it again...probably soon! There are more good ones by Julia but I'll tell you about them tomorrow. I'm tired of typing on my Kindle now. The auto correct it starting to get on my nerves!!!! But trust me, HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS is tailor made for you, what with the kids and all. The H is great with her siblings! Gnite!

BTW Rachel I had some problems when typing my earlier comment so I had to edit it. The titles of a couple of the books were not right...they were epilogues to the original stories. I fixed the links so make sure you got the right ones; I may have edited after you'd already read the comment. LOL
And your welcome. JQ is sure to keep you entertained for a while. She's an absolute favorite; so much so that even my husband knew her name. LOL. BTW it's your fault; I told you so much about "How To Marry A Marquis" that I y had to go borrow a copy from my library. I'm probably going to read it tomorrow. Sigh!

An Offer From a Gentleman .. the hero apparently wants the heroine to be his mistress for a major portion of the book? I don't know if I like that in a romance LOL

Um I admit I don't remember that. It's been a while. But in his defense when they do get married at the end of the book, they know they won't be accepted by a large portion of society. She's a servant...I think. I cannot remember her circumstances exactly. But I do know she wasn't of his class. Unfortunately that was the way of things back then. I remember it being romantic. She has a horrid life and he went through a lot to save her. If I remember correctly, she was even in jail at one point. Initially, when he finds her after he discovers her identity, he takes her home where she starts to work for his family. I honestly don't remember the mistress thing, but it doesn't surprise me considering she's not a lady. I am a sucker for a Cinderella story though...I just can't help it. LOL
I do have to investigate the JQ books further. It's been many years since I've read them...apart from MARQUIS which I did a read through of, last year...I think.
BTW in MARQUIS in the epilogue the h published her own revised version of HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS. In it she lists a lot of rules and the H added subscripts to some of them. Rule number one is..."Never set your cap at a gentleman until you're absolutely certain of his identify. As any sensible young lady knows, men are ever deceptive." The H's subscript to that one is "good God Lizzie, haven't you forgiven me for that yet?" LOL

Yes Charles is a total sweetheart and those lists are a hoot!
No the updated version of the HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS book is written by the heroine in the book and is included in the epilogue chapter, not a separate epilogue book. Am I making sense? In JQ's HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS, the h finds a book of THAT title in her employer's library. The H catches her with it the first time they meet.
Later, after they marry, the h publishes an updated version giving tips on how to marry a marquis. She had, after all, caught one for herself. LOL. Anyhow, in the epilogue chapter a few of the rules she added to her version of the book are listed.
Yes, I think that's a great idea. After you read a few of JQ"s books you'll have a better idea of whether or not you'd like that one. Also, don't forget I read that book years ago, when I was more tolerant of that sort of thing. Nowadays I usually avoid books where the H wants the h as a mistress...if I know ahead of time, that is.

Also, don't forget I read that book years ago, when I was more tolerant of that sort of thing. Nowadays I usually avoid books where the H wants the h as a mistress...if I know ahead of time, that is.

Okay Rachel, good morning! I'm back at my computer and can now type without the frustrations of last night. I hate auto correct! LOL MARQUIS is definitely safe. It's also very sweet. The h is very young; she's been taking care of her siblings for the past five years; ever since her father committed suicide. No one knows about the suicide though; she covered it up. If it were known, it would ruin the family socially. Can you believe those times?! Anyhow, her brother is not the baronet...he's only eight and I think he's the youngest. Her other sisters are like 12 and 16 or some such. I think the h is only 21.
The aunt (and yes she is the H's mother's sister) raised the H after her mother died. His father was a horrid beast! He loves his aunt like a mother, so when she called him claiming she was being blackmailed, he came running. He goes undercover to see if he can ferret out the blackmailer. He pretends to be her new estate manager. He meets the h, sees her with that stupid book, HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS and offers to tutor her on how to find a husband. By this point the h is desperate. She needs to get married for the good of her family, but she has no one to advise her on, you know, how to get a husband. So when the H behaves like a sweetheart and offers to help her, rather than make fun of her for reading the book, she accepts his offer.
While the H is "tutoring" her, they fall in love. No he's not tutoring her in a sexual manner; it's other stuff. They are great together and he is awesome with her siblings, who add a nice touch to the story. You will like this book; I'm pretty positive about that. I'll have to vet the others before I can say for sure. I wish I hadn't given away all my favorite books! I pretty much had all of JQ's.
Another one I really liked, was Splendid. That one has a feisty American heroine and a sexy duke. That one is funny because he's the marriage mart's premier bachelor, and has no interest in marriage, yet when he actually compromises the h, she refuses his proposal. LOL I remember one line where he tells her aunt (she's visiting family in London) "madam I compromised your niece yet she refuses to marry me." The line goes something like that! And if I remember correctly he hadn't compromised her; not from OUR standards, if you know what I mean. It's not like they had slept together or anything like that. LOL
Well that's it for now. I'll see if I can check out those titles and let you know what I find out as far as mistresses and that sort of thing. But like I said, if I remember rightly, JQ's books are usually pretty safe from that perspective. Not like that other author I told you to avoid, Brenda Joyce!

EB, did you repurchase the MARISA book back? Let me know when you read it; I'm curious about it.
Kate, I got back SS. Thanks! How did you like it?

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. I'm not positive, but I think the first one is a repeat from a previous list. I'll check my list; yes I keep one, but even if it is I'm adding it for the benefit of our new members.

Anyway, LOST IN TEMPTATION is about a h who has loved her brother's best friend, the H, for years. When he returns after a long absence she is in the process of looking for a husband, at her brother's behest. Her brother is now head of the family and is intent on getting each of his three sisters settled, starting the the h, who is the eldest. There is some scandalous secret in the H's past that makes him an ineligible parti, despite the fact that he's a marquess. He and the h end up in a compromising position and are forced to wed. Oops maybe I'm wrong about the H being a marquess; the h's brother is a marques. I can't remember what the H is, but I do know that he's a peer.
THE CHIMNEY SWEEP CHARM is by cracy Marcia Lynn McClure. I loved all her westerns that I read, but the one regency of hers that I read, I didn't like so much. I have it 3 stars. The problem is that I don't think she's as familiar with the times as she is with historical America and it had a lot of historical inaccuracies, plus there were parts dealing with some legalities that made absolutely no sense. But I digress. THIS book is a contemporary romance; I think. The blurb gives absolutely NO information about the story, but does include an extended excerpt. The first few reviews are unimpressed. Anyhow, it's a Christmas time story and the H is a military type. That's pretty much what I could glean from my perusal of the blurb and reviews.
A BRIDE FOR CHRISTMAS is a very sweet historical novella. It's about a h and H who meet at a family Christmas celebration. Their brother and sister are married. They are both younger children for earls. The H has now retired from the Army and is getting ready to look for a bride. The h is not interested in marriage. Their courtship during the holiday season is short, but sweet. I think I gave this one four stars. It's definitely safe!
LOVE BEYOND TIME is free again! It's a Scottish historical, time travel romance. Modern day h gets thrown back to the past and somehow ends up marrying the H. The story is told in the first person; I know because I started reading it and decided "nah." I hate first person and at the time I just couldn't make myself do it. I will read it though; the story sounds good. The H's clan suffered an "untimely demise" and when the h goes back in time she works to change their fate.
NATHANIEL YANCEY is book six of the Taking the High Road series, which is a series about the ten Yancey brothers. In this 112 page novella, Nate, who is a pastor takes up an assignment, where he hopes to find peace and quiet. Instead he finds a household that include SEVEN females; six daughters of the previous pastor and a former lady of the night. LOL
LOVE STORM is another western novella. It's about a H who is from a wealthy family, who seeks adventure. He and his twin brother travel west and become marshals. Their first assignment is to find the kidnapped daughter of a wealthy man. The H ends up falling for the h, who is the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in the area. I'm not sure if SHE is the kidnapping victim. Anyhow, the H is missing the love of a good woman, so apparently he is open to romance.
TWICE LOVED is about a h who decides to marry her neighbor, which will allow her to care for her ailing father. But then her intended's older brother returns home with is daughter in tow and it makes the h realize that she needs love. Here's the crazy thing, one of the reviews, which is the most detailed one I could find, is actually a review for the SECOND book in this series. LOL Anyhow, it seems that when the older brother shows up, it derails the h's plan to marry his brother for security. This book has a CHILD ALERT, for those of you who love children in your books. ROTFL
That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

So amazingly enough, Rachel I was actually just able to borrow a copy of JQ's SPLENDID. I'm going to read that one next, so I will be able to tell you for sure whether or not it is safe. More often than not, with JQ's books, I have to waitlist them at the library, so I was really surprised when I discovered this one was available. I actually just borrowed three others, in addition to MARRY A MARQUIS that I borrowed last night. One of the three, To Catch an Heiress, is the book that comes before MARQUIS, and is the story of Jame's best friend and his lady love. For some reason, I never read that one! I also borrowed Dancing at Midnight, which is another one that I never read. Quinn has written so many books that it's hard to keep up. LOL
Thanks RF!! That sounds so hilarious. I love the sound of the Marques one haha I'm not sure what I'll read next!!! I'm reading a book now by Marie Force called Treading Water. It's so damn emotional! I need a comedy!!!

Well the MARQUIS might just fit the bill after the book you're reading because it certainly does contain some humor. FYI you're gonna love the h's siblings; two sisters ages 14 and 9, and a brother, 8. I'm about a third of the way through right now. The h, Lizzie, found the stupid book, HOW TO MARRY A MARQUIS, in Lady Danbury's library and took it home. Her 14 year old sister caught her with it and poor Lizzie is so embarrassed. But now Susan has read the book and keeps hammering Lizzie with all the flipping rules in it that she's supposed to follow to help her catch a husband.
Her sister told her practice her "wiles" on James, the hero, and that first time is a hoot! Lizzie is acting weird because she's trying to follow all the stupid rules; and James is acting weird because he thinks Lizzie might be the blackmailer and he's trying to charm information out of Lizzie! That scene was pretty funny!
As for what I'm reading next, well considering I have THREE more JQ novels I just borrowed from the library I guess one of them will be up next. LOL How's your day going? RU at work?

So I finished Marisa's Choice and was disappointed. While there parts that were kind a romantic it was overshadowed by moments of Will going out with other ladies. There was only one incident we actually witness the rest is implied. What a waste of $3. Thank for the list RF. I was called into work last night and have been pretty busy today. My son had bday money and I promised I would take him tonight bc I worked yesterday and couldn't and it was another gorgeous day so I went on a walk with my niece and my great niece and I got a little burn going on. LOL Damn sun no doubt I'll have more freckles now. LMAO

Oh that sounds like it might be painful. I usually keep a bottle of aloe vera gel in my refrigerator. It's great for the skin when you get burned, and the fact that it's cold makes it feel heavenly when you first apply it.
I'm sorry MARISA'S CHOICE was a bust. So tell me, was Will the H, or was it his friend, the earl? And WHY was he going out with other women? Was he trying to court someone else?
FYI the book I'm reading, Julia Quinn's How to Marry a Marquis might be a good one for you. The h is blonde, but she's pretty feisty all the same. And there are CHILDREN...THREE of them. They are the h's siblings.

I have an aloe Vera plant and in the bottle. It isn't bad just pink but as a girl with fair skin I always keep that on hand. It only tales me a half hour to burn. Will was the H and he got out of the military and when he got back Marisa reflects on how she thought when he came back he'd come to collect his sonnets he left her before he left and they would fall in love and marry. Well she is in love and knows he cares but says it makes her sad to see him about town with different ladies. You don't get to see his angle very much so it paints this image of him as some a loof horny buck. Ugh!

I think I may do the Marquis book next since it's got a little humor as well LOL!!! I need it after my current read for sure! I actually had the day off today - tomorrow starts 1/4. Plus I am taking call Friday night. :) I had my nail appointment today, plus laundry, grocery and cooking. Now I am waiting for my hubs so we can go on our walk together this evening.
EB - the sun makes me have freckles too!! LOL Enjoy the rest of your day with your son! I used to bug the crap out of my mom when I was sitting on Bday money!

EB, I should have know you would have aloe. I don't know what I was thinking. LOL
Rach this book is cracking me up. I'm about halfway through. The H has offered to "tutor" the h in the art of attracting a husband. Lady Danbury--his aunt/her employer--is having a party in a few days and there will be eligible men in attendance, so they don't have too much time to prepare. In light of that, James says they need to focus on the most important "lessons." When she asks what those are he says "kissing and boxing." The first boxing lesson had me ROTFL. And then there is Lady Danbury's cat, Malcolm, who Lizzie swears hates her! LOL
Anyhow, James has now just met her siblings and it is so cute the way he interacts with them! This book is thoroughly entertaining. At this rate I'll be done with it by tomorrow. I think I'll read something else in between it and another JQ novel, however, because I've found that when I read too many books by the same author back to back, after a while they start to lose a bit of their sparkle. I think the similar writing style book after books becomes a tad tiresome; I need some diversity.
Well I'm sorry you ladies have issues with freckles. Seeing as I'm biracial I don't have that problem. I'm not bragging, simply making a statement of fact. LOL. And honestly I don't think it has anything to do with race, but rather skin tone. But I think freckles are cute! My husbands is Italian/Irish so my kids tan doubly easily, what with my mixed up blood and their Italian blood. It doesn't mean that we can't burn though. I often forget to use sunscreen and when I do and spend too much time in the sun I usually get burned on the shoulders, the decolletage, and my cheeks. Just those three areas, but it can hurt like a bitch! Ugh I hope yours isn't too bad, EB!
So EB, Will comes home and Marisa expected that they'd pretty much pick up where they left off--a sort of natural progression from the sonnets he'd given her, but instead he starts to sow his wild oats? That's what that sounds like. I guess I can understand that, wasn't he really young when he left for war? And you know how that can mess a person up. But it doesn't seem as though the author did a good job of selling you on an acceptable reason for his behavior or of redeeming him. She did TRY to redeem him, didn't she?

I am TORN between reading book two of the series I just read - Treading Water because I very much want to see Clare get her HEA OR reading the gem you are reading now.
Well at least I do tan. My sister in law is really fair and freckles with no chance of tanning. I said as much in my review he was sowing his oats but you don't hear his side and so you feel detached to his character. He has such a strong connection with the h in Marisa becoming fourteen and so when that was lost in this one I was upset yes. There is all this angst with h infatuated with a H that was a boy who was wet behind the ears. Lol. I had such high hopes. :( Rachel freckles rock! Lmao
