Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Hey Rach I started Baby Love. I am a hot mess of emotions so far. Lol First I'm waiting to see what happened to Susan, Keefer and Chastity. Then this poor lady and her baby. But on top of that his wife's spirit is guiding him to find his new love. OMG I'm a mess ( I beat you to saying RF) and I have a client later today. She's a permant client for me. Yeah!

Yes I did. I actually voted that review unhelpful. I hate when others feel it's okay to comment on another person's review; unless they think they are clarifying a point the other reviewer made, etc. In this case, she questions how someone can give the only 4 stars, when SHE doesn't explain why she gave it 5. Ugh!

I would take it as a personal attack when it is just your opinion and a 4 star rating to me is still good. To me it just means you found minor faults.

Ha I beat you to that declaration RF. I want to read the books from the library bc they are due back on the 9th. I can reissue them so I'm not rushing.

I have been with this client several times now. She has dementia but sweet. Her family wants the hours increased bc her live in care giver does things on the weekend and she can not be left. The poor thing gets scared when she's alone. It broke my heart the time I was with her and she started crying bc she had a flashback of being left alone. It is quite astounding to me how the brain works. She will tell me a story and half way through it changes but yet if I get her to play me a song on her piano she can do it from memory.

So the book I'm currently reading, or rather I should say, the book I'm currently LISTENING to, is a HOOT! OMG! It's one of the Madison Sisters series by Lynsay Sands. Has anyone read any of those books? They are The Countess, The Heiress, and The Husband Hunt, respectively. I haven't read any of them, but started listening to book 2, THE HEIRESS, last night. It's so damn funny I was cracking up ROTFL.

Anyhow, it was so good that I started thinking that maybe I'd rather read it than listen to it, because really, while listening is good, it's not nearly as satisfying as reading. I figured I'd check out the reviews first and was surprised to find that it has an overall low rating. I read a number of the reviews and realized that everyone was complaining because a goodly portion of this book, some 2/3rds of it, is a rehash of book one.

That's when I decided I'd continue listening to it rather than read it. The storyline is absolutely brilliant, but after getting through almost a half of it, I have to say that it would probably have been better if Sands had written an extensive book incorporating all three sisters' stories, or at least the first two. The events of the two older sisters' romances, (I can't say about the 3rd sister because I'm not really sure) occur simultaneously, so of course, in order to get the full story for each, much of both books are the same.

In this book, Susette and her sister travel to London after their father left saying he would be back at the end of the week. Well a month passes by and they've heard nothing from him, even though they have sent him a few messages. Add to that the fact that their older sister, who had married a year previous, also lived in London and they had heard nothing from her since she married--despite the fact that they have been writing to her diligently--and Susette is convinced that London is "swallowing up" her family members. LOL They have also learned that their brother in law, who they thought adored their sister, has been treating her horribly, so they want to look into that as well.

When they get to London, they discover that their father has once again gambled them to the point of ruination. He has two weeks to come up with the money. All the girls have HUGE inheritances--an inheritance from their super wealthy maternal g/father--which they can only get once they marry. When the father had gambled away their livelihood the first time, their older sister married and her husband paid off the debts. This time, Susette volunteers for the task. HOWEVER, she doesn't want to end up with a horrible husband like their sister, so she decides she wants a man she can control--one who will be happy to agree to her "terms" in exchange for getting his hands on her huge dowry. Basically, she wants a poor man.

They decide to stay with their sister so she can chaperone them around London and take them to balls, but an obstacle to their plans develop when their horrid brother in law drops dead. The three sisters decide that they will "put him on ice" LITERALLY, while they shop around for a husband for Susette! ROTFL The sister who is married agrees to this plan for a period of two days only. Problem is that very night, while at a ball, the husband/brother in law shows up!! Susette is so incensed that he's still alive and is convinced he will mess up her plans! Girls, Susette is a hoot! That woman has no filter on her mouth and just says whatever comes to mind!

She meets the H when he drags her out of the ballroom after she exclaims to her brother in law, whose name is Richard, something about the fact that he should be dead. Here's where the stories overlap. Turns out the man who died was the younger brother, George, who had arranged to have his older brother, Richard, murdered and then assumed his identity and title as earl. The older brother, however, did not die, but was sent off to America. He was very injured and had to be nursed back to health before he contacted the H to ask him to help him get home. So the man who died is the fake earl. LORD!

The H of this book, Daniel, drags the h, Susette, out to give her older sister and Richard some privacy to talk. He took her out to the garden and she ends up spilling everything to him. She then asks if he has money and he lies and says he's poor thinking she's a fortune hunter. He even goes so far as to ask her if she knew any heiresses he could marry. Imagine his shock when she exclaims "me" and instantly proposes to him!! LOL

Daniel thinks it might be for the best if Richard just stepped back into his life and continue on, which means he'd have to accept the sister as his wife. Richard agrees and this is what happens in book 1, but tons of it overlaps in this story so I'm getting a taste of that book. All the drama with hiding George's body OMG, I just can't tell you. Anyhow, I'm at the point in the book where all three couples are on their way to Gretna Greene. The H and h from book one are to be married to legalize their marriage, and the H and h of book 2, the one I'm listening to, are to be married also, although the H has not admitted that he is rich as Croesus. He knows that if she finds out he's rich, she will not marry him. Also, he's aware that after her sister's horrible marriage to husband #1, she doesn't really want to marry, so if her father's debts get paid off by some other means, she will also not marry him. To that end, he threatened Richard not to offer to pay of the debt. LOL At first he just wanted to keep her around long enough to get to know her, to see if her really wanted to marry her. But I'm halfway through and he's already decided that he does want to marry her.

It's a Sands book, so of course there has to be some intrigue. Turns out dear old George did not die of natural causes, but was poisoned. So, now they have to figure out who is trying to kill Richard, because by now he/she would believe that their murder attempt had failed. LOL

This book is a farce of epic proportions!! The only thing that would make it better is if I could get a more in depth look into the romance between the first couple, but for that I'll have to listen to book 1 and go through this entire mess again. I'm going to do it because I want to know, but I'm glad I'm listening and not reading. As for the third sister, her love interest is an old family friend, who has been like a brother to the Madison sisters. She however, has had a crush on him for quite a while. He is along with them on the trip to Gretna now, but I don't know how much of their story is tied up in this one, or if their romance occurs later. I'm thinking maybe later because I did read in reviews that he tells her he sees her as a sister and then she pretends to move on, at which point he realizes he wants her for himself. Typical! I'm thinking that she "moves on" after the Gretna trip so maybe their book will be fresh material. Sigh

Well, I've rambled on for quite a while, but I missed y'all. We haven't spoken in two days!!! I'm feeling more the thing now, so I didn't take Nyquil tonight. Keep your fingers crossed that I remain on the mend through tomorrow. TTYL! Sorry for being so chatty!!

Hi EB, I'm glad you had a good day. I did too. We went to my in laws, who live about an hour away. They had the annual Easter egg hunt and the kids make out like bandits as usual...their grandfather stuffs the eggs with a combination of money and candy. Good morning ladies. I am perusing through the freebie section of Amazon, and so far it doesn't look very promising for today. But here is one that I did find. It's a new book; no reviews so far.

It's about a h who, along with others traveling on a stage coach, gets stranded and has to walk to a nearby inn. En route she finds an injured man, who was a victim of highwaymen. She nurses him back to health, then he disappears leaving behind his jewel encrusted snuff box. Long story short, at some point he turns up at her new employer's home, where she is companion to an earl's wife. Oh I should mention that when the h first encounters the H,he has no memory so she doesn't discover who he is until their later encounter.

http://smile.amazon.com/Pirates-Golde...

http://smile.amazon.com/Star-Prophecy...

http://smile.amazon.com/Lost-Oasis-T-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Secrets-Lies-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Cassidy-Jane-...

http://smile.amazon.com/Captured-Hear...

SCANDALOUS WHISPER is also a new book; no reviews. Actually after a tiny bit of investigation I realized that this book was previously released under the same title. As a matter of fact, I have already read and reviewed the damn thing. I'm not sure why they do that, but of course, there are no longer any of the older reviews attached to this new release of the same damn book. Here's a link to my review for you to peruse, so you can determine if it's something you'd like to read. Basically it's about a h who has an awful mother who wants to see her marry a particular man. The man is beyond despicable, but for some reason no one else, but the h can see it. What makes it worse is that the h's twin is bosom bows with the scoundrel, and the bastard is even enlisiting the brother's help to try to deflower the poor girl. One of the things that frustrated me about this book is that the h is too damn polite, but I do understand that that is how STUPID regency society was. Anyhow, here's the link to my review. I've downloaded the newer version of the book and will go through it; assuming it's exactly the same as the previous copy I will post my review on Amazon for the darn thing.

PIRATE'S GOLDEN PROMISE is about a h, daughter of a wealthy Englishman, who finds herself suddenly penniless when her scheming half sister takes both the h's inheritance from her father's estate AND her fiance! She turns to the H for help, who demands the h in exchange for helping her. Not sure if that means merely sex, or marriage. Anyhow, somehow an "act of piracy on the high seas leaves Wynter (the h) at Cort's (the H's) mercy."

http://smile.amazon.com/review/R31OH2...

STAR PROPHECY is a fantasy type story. There is a threat to Talehndor, an enchanted land and only the h has the power to save it. Not sure if anyone is interested this type of book, but it's free so I thought I'd include it.

SECRETS AND LIES is about a h who is on an assignment from President Grant investigating a series of train robberies in which government money was stolen. The H, who is "the man of the h's dreams" is the number one suspect. He is the owner of Conrail. The H has no idea that the h is an investigator, and she knows that he is keeping a secret.

CASSIDY JANE is about a h who falls for the town's doctor and gets herself into a ton of trouble in her pursuit of the man. Apparently she has a knack for trouble. LOL Anyhow, the book is listed as a sweet Christian romance. FYI this is a novella.

CAPTURED HEART is about a h, Amanda, who has two men vying for her attention, while traveling west on a wagon train. En route her family dies of Cholera. There is mention of the h becoming mad at God with the death of her family, so it seems that this is another Christian romance.

That's it for today, ladies. Hope you all find something to entice you. TTYL!

Hi Erika, welcome! Thanks for the information regarding the JEWELLED SNUFF BOX. I confess I'm intrigued enough that I may just have to read it next. LOL You're most welcome re the list...it's my pleasure.

I'm in the middle of listening to a Sands novel, but there's nothing like reading so I think I may start JSB and read it in between listening to the other. Welcome again! I see your a friend of our Rachel! That's great! Rachel has been a nice new addition to our little group.

BTW ladies I did a read through of that book from the freebie list, SCANDALOUS WHISPER. There are a few changes to the book, but nothing of substance. For one thing the H's actual rank is now clear, while it was ambiguous in the earlier version of the book. We are also given the h's family's social standing. Some minor editing was also done, but this version is still not perfect as far as that goes, but isn't really a big deal. Anyhow, I have posted an updated review for the book here on GR as well as on Amazon. TTYL!

Okay, Rachel. I confess that I have not read the book that you are currently reading. I was being completely facetious. But I will admit that I do not like the sound of the whole brothel thing, especially if it occurs AFTER he's already met the h. Is he actually going there to have sex with women, or what? Also, it does seem odd that he can't stand to be touched but can have sex, especially with whores. Maybe he just doesn't like to have skin to skin contact, so must have sex at least partially clothed?

If I remember correctly that Christian in SHADES OF GREY was something like that; although EB would know better. He didn't like being touched...or maybe it was just on his chest that he didn't like to be touched. Anyhow, until their "relationship" progressed the female lead wasn't allowed to touch his chest. I remember that for sure...not without clothes that is.

Yes, the book I am reading now is beyond crazy! And yes I would prefer the entire focus be on the main couple. However, I think I am less picky because I am listening to it, as opposed to reading it. Somehow I feel less vested in the story. And it really is entertaining. LOL Anyhow, I can understand why this book got such low ratings because just from what I've listened to so far, I know that if/when I listen to the first book, most of this book will be a rehash. Nonetheless, if I want to get any more details about the older sister and her husband I have no choice. In essence the two books are the exact same story, just told from a different couple's perspective. That would have pissed me off too, if I didn't know that ahead of time and actually paid for the blasted books! LOL

Hi ladies! I'm home but my phone was blowing up a bit ago. They wanted me to go in and work with another client until 7 this evening and I told them I could but not until 4. I haven't heard back. I told them I would do the double 12's but this started a chain reaction apparently bc now they wanted me today too. LMAO. Anyhow enough about work how are you all? was the Easter Bunny good to all of you? My Easter Bunny dropped off K cups for my Keurig. LOL!

Okay so I am the one who recommended Ian's book to you. It has been awhile since I've read it but Ian is such a powerful and complex character. He is reminiscent of RainMan with Dustin Hoffman. He doesn't buy his underwear from KMart(LOL) but let me tell you his past has made him into what he has become. I can't remember feeling any resentment toward him for anything. My mind at present does not remember the whore house scene. I can tell you the character was amazing for me. The reason being he is so unique and afflicted that you can not help but fall in love with him. He can not feel on an emotional level as most bc of his past. His mind does not comprehend what it is to love but believe me he knows he just doesn't realize it. He is mathematically a genius and his oldest brother is protective over him bc he the sort of mind like Spenser Reid from Criminal Mind he can pull out things from documents that are incorrect and so his brother uses him for his business dealings. Mac is actually the brother and he is the one that does not like to be touched it is Ian. Mac is the artist. His book is the second in the series. As for Ian not wanting to be touched it does explain why and I can tell you he is a passion, primal man. What I mean by that is Ian does not understand emotions but he can understand sensations. Sex is basic and he knows the end result so he can handle that. I actually had a friend with a mentally retarded son and there were certain things he had trouble comprehending but his mother told me they had to teach him how to jerk off bc it triggered something in is brain that relaxed him. As disturbing as that may sound being in the medical field we see it all so think about that for a moment. She explained that before this happened he was violent and uncontrollable but once he knew the right time and place and became okay with it his personality changed. I'm only saying this bc psychology has always fascinated me and when you look at Ian's character and what I just said without emotion he just trying to fill a primal urge and the fact that he does not do it for just another notch or to hurt anyone it is really sad to think that this is the only way he can feel normal. The man has no filter he says things just as he thinks them and that is comical at times. I hope I've helped you on some level and I'm sorry if it does not work for you. I was understanding of Derek Craven even with his slip up so I hope I haven't misled anyone. Mac and Isabelle story was good for me Mac and Is are separated for three years and he does not stray on her. He is questionable bc he's painting nude models but it is Isabelle he wants, his wife.

As for Mr. Grey he is a more recent love affair and I can tell that it was indeed his chest he did not like touched. With Christian*******SPOILER**************** it stemmed back to his mother. She was a crack whore and allowed her pimp to abuse Christian who was only 4 years old at the time. Actually he was 4 when she died so who knows how old he was when the asshole started. He put cigarette butts out on the babies chest. Can you believe that shit? Anyhow his mother allowed it so she was worse IMO. He tried to deal with it by drinking and getting into fights at an older age until Mrs. Robinson taught him control. This only worked until he met Ana and she wanted to touch him. The story goes on until love concurs all. I'm not sure it's your kind of book Rach bc most are appalled first and Christian comes with a lot of baggage but they are both faithful to one another and even possessive at times. In Christian's case it is most of the time but Ana was too, not that I blamed her.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments This was my review for it and I want to add Kate and Aspoon both gave it 5 stars. You don't know Aspoon but she is a hard person to get a 5 star rating out of. I really think if you are patient Ian will deliver. I loved this book from start to finish. This is the second time I've went back to read this treasure. The affliction the hero suffered and the effects from it made him so sexy. Ian Mackenzie is the youngest of the Mackenzie brothers and he lives mostly in his head. But he also has gifts such as a being able to memorize things he's read or heard and recall them word for word at an instant. It makes him extremely useful where treaties and politics, as far as Hart is concerned. Hart is a very powerful duke and Ian's oldest brother. The thing I loved most was that even though each one of the brothers carried some painful memory of their father they all were protective over the other.

The heroin is a widow and yet the moment Beth and Ian meet you know they are going to be good together. She is everything Ian needs and Beth, who is about to make the worst mistake of her life, immediately learns that there is way more to Ian than meets the eye. The way this author had the couple mainly together throughout with no misunderstandings, which you find in many romances, was a relief. They do have secrets at the beginning mostly built on fear it doesn't put much of a separation between the two.

It's a hard road filled with the whole Mackenzie clan coming together to solve a mystery and even the beginning of a new relation none of them were aware of. Each brother gets his own book but this one is my favorite of all the ones I've read. Ian is such a loveable character and him and Beth have such a steamy romance. The love scenes are HOT and guaranteed to satisfy. If you are interested in the Mackenzie clan do yourself a favor and start here. It introduces each character and gives you an insight to each character. I'd like to further add that Ian is incapable of lying. What other man can claim that?

Ah EB, Rachel is reading one of the McKenzie novels, huh?

BTW ladies I did a quick read through of that book on our freebie list today; the one Erika discovered was not actually a new book, rather a re release of one originally published in the 70's--that's before the bodice ripper era. LOL

Anyhow, I am, of course, speaking of THE JEWELLED SNUFF BOX. It's about a h who, since the death of her fahter, has been left in dire straits. She now works for a living. While traveling via stage coach there was an accident of some sort and all the travelers are required to foot it to a nearby inn. En route the h discovers the H passed out on the side of the road after being attacked by footpads. She take him to the inn and takes care of him. He suffers a loss of memory, but apparently a rapport of sorts develop between the two. The H is in possession of a jewelled snuff box which somehow gets left behind with the h when the two part.

Apparently the h and H travel together to London, and the h takes the H to her attorney; an old retainer of her father's I believe. She does this so that maybe he can figure out how to help the H who still has no memory. The H then regains his memory, but in so doing loses any memory of the events that transpired during his brief bout of amnesia. He leaves the attorney's waiting room where he was alone and returns to his life.

In the meantime, the h gets a new position as companion to an earl's wife, who turns out to be a much disliked old schoolmate of hers. She is not happy about having to stay, but since as she does not have another position is forced to remain...at least until she can get another job. The earl is some thirty years older than his wife, who of course is one of those fortune hunting title greedy heifers.

The H then turns up in the countess' life. He is an old beau of hers who was sorely disappointed when she married the earl. SHE thinks he is still in her thrall, but that is not actaully the case. The H is helping the heifer retrieve a letter she wrote to one of her lovers. It seems the man was blackmailing her with the letter and she asked the H to go pay him off or some such. This letter was hidden inside a secret compartment of the snuff box that the H left with the, but of course he has no memory of this. BTW the h did find the letter and once she meets the h she begins to think that he and the countess are having an affair.

The H of course has no memory of the h, but is drawn to her. He has been having dreams about a woman--memories of his time with the h--but does not know who the woman is. There are things about the h that intrigues him, although he does not know why. FYI the h is also an old school friend of the H's sister.

Anyhow, that is the set up for the book. The earl is a very jealous husband, and there is a nice surprise connection between him and the h. The countess also nicely gets her in the end. The book is nicely written, in a style that reminds me of Jane Austen and those of her ilk, although it's not as formal. The story seems pretty good. So, if it sounds the least bit interesting and you haven't already done so, grab a free copy. TTYL!

Ah ha! I was about to lose my mind thinking about who recommended this book to me hahahaha! I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't think you misled me at all and this information I am about to say is definitely SPOILERISH but my confusion stems from WHY he went to see that whore who was at the Covent Garden ... Lily? The one that he finds dead? Does that ring any bells? He doesn't visit any other brothels or anything like that to my knowledge (I am not finished yet but over 50%). I know there is some secret as to another whore, Sally, who dies 5 years ago. That douche of a cop is trying to bring the MacKenzie's DOWN and he wants to pin that murder also on Ian. So I know that WHY he visits Lily that night is tied to the secret and he won't tell Beth. This is one of those books where I don't mind spoilers for plot lines because it is going to drive my insane otherwise. I mean, why would he need to go there after he meets Beth? He seemed totally obsessed with being with HER and no one else, that's why it is weird for me. I am hoping that in regards to him not wanting to be touched yet having casual sex still - maybe when he has sex with the courtesans, he doesn't let them touch him? I don't know. He certainly lets Beth touch him. I DO like him and I like that he is a different kind of hero. I can't put my finger on his disorder, but I like that about his character. He is a no bullshit guy. He has no choice but to be. So that's what my confusion was about....

Also, Mac has not had relations with any other women after Isabelle or during their marriage either? I know that the model he is currently painting is not his lover. And I also know that she left him because of his drinking and probably other things. Maybe she THOUGHT he was cheating on her. When Isabelle comes home from that party that he was at too and cries her eyes out because he ignores her, my heart broke so I was unsure if I could read his book or not. I DID like Isabelle so I am hoping he never cheated on her :)

I actually read 50 shades and LOVED IT! Loved Christian! That was the first series I read that turned me onto reading romance :)

Did you Rachel? So did EB! Alas, I didn't. I couldn't stand the female, Anna, or whatever her name was, and unfortunately the story is told in first person from her POV. I found her most annoying, although I did like Christian. I can admit that she got better as the story progressed, but I still didn't particularly care for her. Plus I didn't find it realistic that Christian was "cured" of his urge to beat up on brown haired women so quickly after her met her. Quite frankly my urge to do so STARTED when I met her. ROTFL. I'm kidding of course.

Did you see the movie?

RF - honestly, since that was my FIRST romance book/series, I tolerated it just fine, but she would ANNOY me today. That's why I haven't done a re-read yet LOL! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will :)

Haha The thing is Rachel that I have a HUGE prejudice against books written in the first person! So as soon as I read an "I" in the narrative portion of a book, I groan. However, I have read a few that I've enjoyed a lot so I always make myself at least try to read the book before giving up. It must be one that has a really, really enticing plot thought otherwise I wont even bother.

When I started FOSG I only did so because I was curious about all the controversy. I found out that my library had all three books in digital format and all three were available, so I figured "why not?" When I saw the "I" I almost stopped reading, but made myself continue. I will admit though that I did not invest myself in the story; merely perused through each of the three books making sure to cover all the pertinent parts.

The first person was bad enough, but I really thought Anna was a twit, especially in the first book and most of book 2. LOL I did like Christian, but when I read that brief excerpt at the end of book three where they gave insight into his thoughts during his first meeting with Anna, I thought he a very scary character. In light of some of his thoughts, I thought the author made a smart choice to write the book strictly from Anna's perspective. All I kept thinking about is that sexual sadist that I apprehended in Alaska, David Parker Ray. Honestly though, I kinda thought he was scary when he told Anna that he was a sadist and admitted he liked to inflict pain on brown haired women--women who no doubt represented his mother. It's too serial killer like--you know the type that goes around killing similar type women that remind them of some woman from his past that he hates and would have liked to have killed? I think it's a professional hangup. I worked both as a defense attorney with the public defender's officer and a deputy DA with the DA's office in Los Angeles. I couldn't help thinking about the psychos in jail. LOL

At least Christian was sexy; David Parker Ray was a freak who looked like a freak. See why I couldn't really enjoy the book; I was overthinking! Sigh.

EB went to see the movie when it first came out; she loved it! She's a HUGE FSOG fan! It will probably be out on DVD soon I'd imagine. Movies make it to DVD so quickly nowadays. I actually had a friend who saw it recently who said it wasn't bad; she never read the books.

OMG I agree with EB! I LOVED Christian. I honestly LOVED his POV, but everyone has triggers that turn them off from a book. So I totally get that! One of mine is abortion. I just read a book where the heroine TALKS about her sister getting an abortion. She actually tries to talk her into it and that totally turned me off of the book. Even though she didn't go through with it, I was so freaking pissed!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments RF- You can preorder FSOG in May. LOL. Rachel Ian has Asperger's Syndrome. I crashed in the chair reading CA and just woke up. Anyhow I think Lily was his brother the Duke's mistress or some such nonsense. I think he is protecting him and he does tell Beth I think but if he would have just talked with his brother it would have been cleared up. The duke is dark and is into the whole BDSM scene. I personally never read it. I got it out at the library but could not get into it. The inspector that seems so hell bent on arresting a Mackenzie has a secret connection and at the end I think you find out why. But he also has his own short book with Isabelle's sister. Maybe that is when it is revealed I can't remember which but if you want to know inspector Fellows connection let me know. Christian and Anna are awesome. First person is not one of my favorite angles either but it depends on how the narrator approaches it. Twilight was the same and I think I like it bc I think in a similar way that the h told there stories. I mean both Isabella Swan and Anastasia Steele loved old lit and there is one connection. Then there is the awkwardness I can totally relate. Feeling introverted and singular...check. Then it's all about the fantasy that follows. A rich hunk that is totally obsessed with pleasing me. LMAO What is not to love?

Ahh I see .. Asperger's. I was trying to place it. Well okay that makes sense then. He was making sure this girl was safe. I am assuming the duke's BDSM lifestyle has to do with the murders ... ? I'm not sure if I like the inspector right now LOL! Back to Mac's book, do you remember truly if he was celibate when they separated and faithful when they were married? They build it up to seem like he cheated, but then it makes it seem like he drank a lot and she left him. So I"m not sure, but if he WAS celibate, his book might be interesting.

I didn't read Twilight. I saw a few of the movies and the acting was too terrible for me to keep watching LOL!!!!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I liked their book. There is a part that was emotional. It is when the secrets are finally laid out between the two and she takes down some walls and tells him how she feels. Ian and Beth are in it so you get to see what has went on with them. But Mac is faithful. See Isabella gave up everything when she eloped with Mac. Her family won't associate with he and then to top it off Mac is a suffering artist and disappears in drunken stupors. There is an event which comes up in their heated arguing and I teared up. The emotion behind Isabelle's words were so powerful to me. It's a shame that some of the others in the series couldn't hold up to the rest.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments The girl that played Isabella got on a lot of peoples nerves I was okay with her. A lot of people said the same as the girl who plays Ana too. It's whatever our subconscious allows you to accept I guess.

I never read TWILIGHT, but I did watch the movie. I'm afraid I'd have to agree with those who hated the actress who played the part. She was way too dramatic for me! But to be fair, maybe she played the character correctly, in which case I'd dislike her as much as I did Ana in FSOG. I can't say for sure unless I read the book, and I probably wont ever do that now.

But yea, Rach. You're right. It's probably a trigger for me. It's weird, I've read books with BDSM involved, but it makes me uncomfortable at times. All depends on how it is portrayed. Too creepy by half at times.

Thanks for confirming that EB! Now that I know this, I will definitely be reading their book. So I am assuming Isabella THOUGHT he was having an affair and/or moved on with other women during this time apart? It broke my heart when she cried her eyes out to Beth :*( And the fact that he not only DIDNT cheat but also remained faithful (which I am sure you will agree is an AMAZING feat back in that timeframe) I want to read it even more! ;)

In your last comment comparing Isabella to Ana - you mean the Bella in Twilight? Actually, many people LOVED how Dakota portrayed Ana and even liked her more than Christian o.o Of course, I think Jamie is SEXY - I watched him in Once Upon a Time!!!

I can totally understand that honey! Be sure to NOT read Pepper Winters Tears of Tess series - YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT! That is sadism to the EXTREME but surprisingly safe. o.0

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments She comes across as a tease to me. Not saying Mac shouldn't have been made to suffer but I did begin to feel bad for him. When she lets her walls down and opens up the flood gates, wow. It is about more than just his disappearing bc his timing was lousy bc when she really needed him he wa not there. Her anger towards hi is justified but when she seeks him out her excuse is weak and it is clear she wants him back but boy does he have to work for it. LOl

I will probably be in the minority thinking he needs to redeem himself. After reading about his actions towards her in the book I am reading now, I think he damn well needs to grovel and grovel GOOD. So I may or may not find her annoying. We will see.

I hope I get some babies for one of these couples!!! Now I can continue the book liking Mac LOL!!!! I like the way he pulls that nude model by her ear to kick her out of the room bwahaha

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yes I meant Isabella from Twilight. She read Pride and Prejudice and was an old spirit. Meaning she thought and acted like she was older than what she was. I have been accused of this and the majority of my friends are older than me excluding yourself and RF. My niece laughs at the way phrase things at times bc it sounds funky to her but when you read hr all the time I find myself talking like I'm out of one. LOL Pathetic to some but well that is what makes me singular. I've always liked watching the HR movies and Little House n The Prairie, Ann Of Green Gables, An Old Fashion Christmas, Jane Eyre, Emma...etc. That was supposed to make Edward and Isabella better for each other bc he was 100 yrs older it was as though she was from his time. With Christian and Ana it jut made her more wholesome and innocent which he craved to possess bc he was in such darkness.

OOH the Mackenzie Christmas which I thin is Fellows book too we get to see Ian as a father. I have it if you want to burrow I have to check bc I may have already lent it before.
