Ya I hear you. I'm gonna make myself get back to the book I'm reading. Today has been kinda messed up, what with having to pack up and move back to the house; the heat not working right, so we couldn't come home as early as I wanted, and since I've been back, unpacking and putting away crap. I plan on forcing myself to read tonight. I want to finish that blasted book so I can move on. I feel a Highlander calling my name. He's saying "come to me Caron. Come. To. Me." ROTFL!!! Now if I could just figure out which Highlander he is, I could delve into his story.

Lol. Yes the eviler the better. It was Zoe who they were complaining about. The reviewer just couldn't get into her I guess. They loved Bauer though. Highlanders are good. I haven't read one since Fredrick's Queen.
I also agree with what you were saying about an author showing bits of what could be. She has that series that came b4 this one and people have said those were good. It comes in a boxed set for 5.99. I do love how she established that strong bond between H/h

Yes, that was my favorite part about book 1, the strong bond between Rachel and Jake. When they said "I love you" I was all over it! Imagine, the two moved in together 6 weeks later, but considering they had wasted the previous two years, it was about time! Now with Tuck and Celida having known each other for so long and all the other couples having previous connections, it makes the love seem realistic, event though it happens quickly. And I guess it doesn't happen quickly; it's been there the whole time, but they finally acknowledge it when they get their stories.
Umm I'm gonna have to look for a Highland romance to read next. Instead of reading my book tonight, I might read a different, short one. We'll see.

The thing I liked is there is no bs. Like in most where the H is fighting what he feels or the h wants her independence this book all of that is already worked out and Tuck realizes after knowing how close she came to dying when defending Rachel it was just a nice change like you said switching to CR.

I read and reviewed MAIL ORDER BRIDE FOR CHARLIE. I rated it 3 stars. It was a decent read, but not fantastic...let's just say it was entertaining. The mother decides she wants grandchildren, so she sends off for a mail-order bride for one of her sons--if I remember correctly, she has four. The son she gets a bride for is involved with a married woman. The youngest, Charlie, is left to clean up his mother's mess, so to speak. The h was a little stupid; she knew the guy didn't want to get married, but she agrees...just read my review. I'm honestly wondering now, WHY I gave it 3 stars. Probably should have given it 2. But as Lark says, I give more stars than a book deserves then I rip it to shreds in my review. ROTFL!
THE WRONGED WIFE made it on our freebie list for three reasons; 1. it's free, 2. I wanted you to check out the reviews, and 3. I don't want to censor books for you all. Just because I hate the premise of a book doesn't mean that one of you wont end up loving it. That being said, here is my take on this book. The story is HORRIBLE! The h and H are married. The H goes off to fight for a year. When he returns, the h is pregnant. She tells him that his brother raped her, but he doesn't believe her. The H(???) beats her so badly that he leaves a permanent scar from his ring in her face, kills her unborn child, and renders her incapable of having any other children. He then kicks her out and she is left to fend for herself--this is medieval times, BTW.
SEVEN years later--SEVEN!!!!--his brother confesses to he rape on his death bed. The H thinks that there is no way the h will ever be able to forgive him, but he goes to bring her home. She of course, not only forgives him, but says she still loves him. WHY??? Apparently there isn't any groveling on the part of the H, mostly because he says there is nothing he can do to make up for his behavior--truer words were never spoken. So, at this point, I hate not only the H for being such a cruel, abusive bastard, but also the h for being a weak, spineless twit!!!! I mean, I understand that if he wants her back she has no choice, but LOVE?!! Oh BTW they had a five year old daughter when the h was banished, and she was not allowed to communicate with her during the seven year period. Oh and for you, Liz, of course he was whoring around like crazy during the separation. Ummm the author sure went overboard with the evilness in this one. HOW does one redeem a baby killer????? Most people hated the book, but of course, there were women who were saying how great it was. And we wonder WHY so many women nowadays go back to their abusers? Many do because of fear; others due to stupidity!!! I'm done with my rant now. LOL
HEARTS IN DEFIANCE is a repeat from a previous freebie list.
TALES OF A TRAVELER is a time travel romance. Modern day h gets thrown back to medieval times. A one star review started with...don't bother Outlander fans who are looking for books to read in between that series. I guess that means I'm good to go then, since as I had no interest in reading the Outlander series. Heck, I couldn't even watch that mess on television!
THE REDEMPTION is a pirate historical romance.
PARANORMAL ROMANCE BOX SET is the complete set of the ELISE AND THE ENGLISH MAN'S GHOST STORIES. For a time Amazon offered each of the three part series for free, but I never included them on our list because they were incomplete. Now here is the entire series. I'm not exactly sure when the story is set, but it sounds modern day. The h is a college student who visits Romania with a bunch of her friends. There she meets the ghost of an Englishman, who she ends up helping to find the man who killed him. Then it looks like somehow, he became human again--this I learned from reading the blurb for the second installment. Ummm strange!
LADY IN WAITING is a new book; no reviews so far. However, the author seems reputable and she has a number of books listed on her Amazon page, most of which have had overall good ratings.
A SCENT OF SCANDAL is book 2 in the Mrs. Brentley's Girls trilogy. We've had book 3 of the series on a previous freebie list.
FYI MIDNIGHT FLAME is by the author who wrote that horrible book; EMERALD DESIRE...Judy's review of that book saved us all from a horrible fate. LOL Anyhow, this book has an overall 4 star rating, but there are several negative reviews.
MY SOUL TO KEEP is a book that I've read and reviewed...it's the second in the trilogy. It's not one that I would recommend--I gave it 2 1/2 stars--but it's free so I included it on our list. My review is number one, so check it out before you make a decision. FYI we've had book 1 of the series, MY SOUL TO KEEP--CALEN, on our freebie list in the past. You really need to read the books in order to get the best understanding of the story.
I also read THE HEALING GARDEN. Mine is the only review. I gave it 3 stars for being an entertaining, although uninspiring read. It's about an English h (an aristocrat) who marries a wealthy American man. They travel from England to America via the Titanic--you all know what happens to that so unsinkable ship. LOL Anyhow, the husband dies leaving the h pregnant and alone. She later starts a garden project at her new home. The H is the gardener/landscaper that she hires. It really is a very sweet story, just not amazing.
Well that's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something of interest on our list today. It's quite a long one--I'm trying to make up for my lapse of yesterday, in fear that Kate threatens to dock my pay once again. ROTFL! TTYL

Hi gals just got home. OMG RF I read Zoey's review for the wronged wife before I saw what you had t say! Unfu!*ing believable. I could not get past the fact that he scarred her face with his ring from hitting her so hard. Forget about the miscarriage that was enough on it's own. I like a good villain but not when it's the H. WTF! That is just insane. Anyhow I was excited when I seen how long the list was but I actually only seen a few that sounded like something I would like. I hope you other ladies found something to spark your fancy. Are you all staying warm. We actually have sun outside at the moment.

We're having another snow storm today. I'm not sure why they categorize it as a storm, because so far it's just been unrelenting snowfall. I've been hanging out at the house all day. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the kids out tomorrow.
On the up side, I finished that book I was reading...finally, and I started a Highland romance; Rowan's Lady. So far I'm loving it; although not as much as Fredrick's Queen--FYI this is the book that comes before FQ.
Yes, can you imagine how bad that so-called hero is? I do'n' know what the hell the author thought she was doing. A person such as that is completely irredeemable, so making him the hero of the story was a HUGE mistake. Like you said, the beating was bad enough; the miscarriage and inability to have anymore children were totally unnecessary and would only add to my desire to see the man die a slow and painful death!

Great list RF. Ava Stone and Jerrica Knight Catania. I like them both. I read the Ava Stone already. It was good. Though EB will want to go with me to find the brother and beat him to death. Both brothers actually.Re: Wronged Wife. What's with writer's lately? Do they really think reader's want to read books where some poor women is beaten, raped or humiliated. The h need a hero to rescue them from the hero. In the past couple of weeks I've read several books where the hero was a beast. In The Conquest not only does the H rape the heroine but orders his men to rape the women in the keep. In the end everyone is happy and pregnant. What the F?
We didn't get hit to hard with the storm. About 4 inches. And some frigid weather. Hope everyone is safe and sound out your way.

IDK, Kate. Authors are losing their minds lately, but even scarier is the fact that there were a few readers who actually enjoyed the story! WTF??!!! It's bad enough to have such a severe beating and consequences of the beating, but for it to the the HERO?! Crazy! Then, if that isn't bad enough, the heroine easily forgives the ass and takes him back. In my mind the better story would have been if he had forced her to come back home--which he could, considering it was medieval times--and then he'd work like a dog to win back her regard. Even then, IMO, his actions were too bad to be redeemed. I mean HOW can you redeem a baby killer? The author would've had her work cut out for her, but one with great skill might have been able to handle it. As it is, the author chickened out. She realized that there was no way she would redeem the hero so she didn't bother to try. Instead she made the heroine a weak and insipid person with no backbone...a woman who actually said that it was for the best that the baby had died. WTF????!!!! Clearly the H and h deserve one another. I only feel sorry for their daughter who is being taught that extreme violence is acceptable behavior, so long as you love the person beating the crap out of you, of course!
Glad to hear you got through the latest storm okay. We did too, but I'm really getting sick of them! Anyhow, I'm off to do the freebie list. I'm running waaaaaay behind today.
Oh, I finished Rowan's Lady. I'm torn between 3 stars and 4. It was entertaining, but so much of the story seemed farfetched to me. I'll wait and see what happens when I write the review.

Hey ladies! Here's the freebie list. This first one is one that I've read, but for some reason, never reviewed. I remember it being a pretty good read. I'd say about a 4 star read for me. The H was in a fire and severely scarred. He and the h end up in a marriage of convenience, arranged by themselves, and they work together to try to find an arsonist.

Oh no Kate the brother's are rotten! I was going to read her book after finishing her A Gentleman Never Tells. I really liked it. I then decided to check out the box set by Christine Clay instead. I am on Part 2. I am nervous to read her Robbers book now. Did you do a review Kate? Ill check it out later. I had flags go off just with the title bc I thought oh no infidelity but then what I read Zoey's review I was horrified. Everything that what went on in my mind was already typed out by RF. Great minds think alike I guess. LOL It is awful for the author to be in the frame of mind that a woman be raped, beaten and exiled should be grateful to a man who abandoned her and scarred her face, stole her daughter and brought on a miscarriage. If this the authors outlook on life bc they pull from what they know then I don't want pulled in her world. Terrible. Ok I'm going to peek at the list.
I snagged Tizdale's book I had it on Kindle unlimited and couldn't keep it so I got it I really liked that story. I found quite a few today which is weird bc the list is shorter today than yesterday. LOL

So I'm to understand that in SCANDALOUS WIFE there are a couple of wretched brothers? Is that right?
BTW you all have got to read Becca St. John's THE HANDFASTING. It was on our freebie list last week, I think. Anyhow, it was originally published in three parts...I got all three for free a while back. Now the author has released the entire series in one book...the one that was on our list. I'm now reading part one...so good! Bold, the H, has just succeeded in trapping the h into marriage. It's a hoot!

I am in stitches with my book. Wait til see my review. My husband had his meeting with the surgeon whose putting in his defibrillator and in the waiting room I couldn't hold back. The man beside was peering over my shoulder lol

When is Ken's surgery? Are you almost done with the book you were reading? The English Man Ghost one?
My book is good so far too. I just finished the first book--part one, if you have The Handfasting. Like I said earlier, I have the book in three parts--three different books. I just finished Bold. Talorc the Bold is Laird of the McCay clan and it's several septs--smaller clans who are loyal to him of which he is overlord. The h's clan, the McBede's is one such sept. Her father is the Clan Chief. Anyhow, the h is the only girl, and youngest, of eight children. Her twin brother, Ian, recently died in battle. Maggie is a strapping girl, tall, full bodied, feisty, fierce. She's a bloody handful! The H decides to marry her, sight unseen, just because of the stories he's heard about her. He needs a mate who is as strong and fierce as Maggie. He expects to be disappointed with her physical appearance when they first meet, but he's intent on marrying her anyway. Well, it's a romance novel, so of course he's not disappointed when he first sees her. The attraction between them is combustible!
Unfortunately, the h has no intention of marrying a warrior. She has had to fight NINE warriors all her life just to try to get a little freedom--her brothers and her father. She wants an easygoing man. Plus she just lost her brother to war. She doesn't want to have to experience that kind of pain again. Well, the H has other ideas. Of course her family wants them to marry because she will be the lady of their clan--what an honor, right? The H uses some underhanded methods to get her to agree to the marriage--a handfasting. She promised a year and a day, he promised her a lifetime! ROTFL
Book one ends when they are heading to his home. She gets injured then the story stops. I just started book 2, Tangled. I'm telling you, this is an amazing story. I can't believe how long I've had these books and not read them. I'm hoping you all grabbed a copy of the book when it was on our list last week. It's five bucks now!

We haven't scheduled yet. He goes for his echo tomorrow and we go from there. I do have hand fasting I need to finish this book when I say I'm cracking up its not in a good way. I laugh bc if you want to write rule #1 is to have an understanding of The English language. I need to check the author bc her writing is broken down like a foreigner who later learns English. I mean no offense but I've already said too much lol

Ah I see. You may be right. It could be someone who speaks English as a second language. It's the English ghost one right? I'm glad you got Handfasting. I'm loving it! There's a conspiracy to destroy the clans. Maggie is such an inspiration for her clans that a plot to murder her has been devised.

Rf send me your email I'll send you the book. Eb not sure if I did a review I'd have to check. That book does have a dark side to it. I liked it but it was not a light read.
Eb I just checked I reviewed it on BN. I only gave it 3 stars but it was worth 4. I did like it but incest was an pivotal part of the story. Incest always makes me uncomfortable. Incest and child molesting are two themes I pass on if I'm aware.

Hey Kate. I sent you an email so you will have my email address. What book are you and EB taking about? BTW how ru feeling now?

I have to quit I have got the sinus headache from hell and it's come out of nowhere. My dr called in some Promethysine last week and it knocks me out after it makes my head spin. Lol I have never had such a sinus issue its aroundy eye brows around my nose and at the top of my cheek bones. It's awful. Ugh
Hi RF. Your email said Here's my email. But no email. Try try again. The Ava Stone book. Scandalous Wife.
I went to the doctor today. Almost all better. Pneumonia takes forever to get over. That's why I got the shot this year. LOL.
EB...Hope your feeling better. Sinus headaches are harder to get rid of then migraine. At least that's been my experience. I'll put Ken on my friend Barbara's prayer list. I'll say a prayer for him too but to be honest she always gets better results. God likes her better.
I think I read a Gentlemen Never Tells. It sounded familiar. The hapsicord rang a bell.
Kate your too cool. Ken is thrilled that after he has the Defibrillator installed in 4-6 he can go back to mowing the grass, chop firewood etc. anyhow my head feels so much better today. Friday they're saying it will be -30. The kids are home today and I'm thinking with the temp tomorrow will be off too
I'm glad you feel better Kate. RF the Robber's Bride is the book we're talking about. The brothers are bad. You know Kate likes evil villains too. I seen where the h is up on charges bc at the end she is grateful she got off. The brothers must get their just desserts too bc Kate is way less tolerant then me

That's funny, Kate. I just sent you another email before I read your GR comment. But you sent me a reply email and didn't tell me to send another with the email address. So we both sent empty emails. LOL There is a way you can get the email sent from the "sent from" line in the email. If you put the mouse over the name of the sender the email address will pop up. I always forget how to do it and it takes me a minute or two to remember. Anyhow, when I got your email with nothing in it, I realized that I hadn't actually sent you my address, so I went ahead and sent another.
Okay, so ROBBER BRIDE; bad brothers. SCANDALOUS WIFE; dark side with incest? Wow! Got it. Now I'm straight as to which book is which. Have you both read ROBBER BRIDE?
BTW I finished THE HANDFASTING last night. I was up until 1:30 this morning reading. It was fantastic! The book could use some fine tune editing, but other than that....wow! There's a bad guy in there EB, wreaking havoc among the clans--Bold's and all the other neighboring ones; stirring up trouble among them. And the romance? Amazing! I loved how single-minded and determined Bold was to make Maggie his. The first book was a little uncomfortable to read because he used trickery (nothing bad) to get her AND her family sided with him, even though it's not what she wanted. But you could tell they just wanted what was best for her, and it was obvious that she was meant for Bold. Sweet story! I highly recommend.
Glad to hear you're doing better, Kate. Just keep doing what you're supposed to and I'm sure you'll be back to your old self in no time--hopefully that's a good thing. LOL
EB sinus headaches are a bitch and I agree with Kate, they are harder to get rid of. Usually a migraine is gone within a day, and maybe leaves you with after affects for another day, but a sinus headache can last for days! Hope you feel better soon.
Anyhow, I'm off to try to find books for today's freebie list.

Anyhow, I'm off to try to find books for today's freebie list.
Okay ladies, so I perused the freebie section. A few books have been added since yesterday, but they are all ones that have made our lists in the past, so nothing new for us today. That's pretty amazing. This is the second time in the past couple of weeks that I've had nothing for a new list. That's NEVER happened before that. Anyhow, I'm sure it's not like we need more books, so a missed day here or there is fine for us. LOL
Well, I'm off to write a couple of reviews then I'm taking the kids out today. They are on winter vacation this week. Kate please send me that book whenever you get a chance. I definitely have no plans to start reading it, or anything else, before tonight, so whenever you send it is fine. Thanks a bunch! TTYL!

Sorry RF. Your not the slow one it's me. I realized it after I sent the message. Blame it on a senior moment or to much medication. Duh.I sent the book last night. Did you not get it?

LOL Well I must have been having a senior moment too, because when I sent you my email I had absolutely no memory of HOW to get someone address from a message sent by them. I had to check before I left my comment here in GR. LOL
So I have a moral dilemma. You know I read Becca St. John's The Handfasting yesterday. However, I had the original three books that make up the trilogy; Bold, Tangled and Torn. So when I read them, GR gave me credit for THREE books towards my reading goal instead of one. Ummm Is that allowed, or am I cheating?

BTW Liz, have you ever read Highland Solution? If you haven't, check it out and let me know if it's something you'd like to read. I have a copy. It's pretty good; although the hero is a little annoying. Anyhow, check out the book and I posted a review here and Amazon today, and let me know. TTYL
Oh Kate, I don't know if you've tried to send me the book as yet, but I was wondering--is it even loanable? Ms. Mallory is an established author and may have a publisher that does not allow their e-books to be loaned out.

Uh oh, then we have a problem because I didn't receive an email from Amazon. The one time that happened to me I had to contact them and it turns out I had made one teeny tiny mistake on the email address. The customer service rep cancelled the loan for me so that I could resend it...remember that EB?
If you don't contact them, the loan will automatically be canceled in seven days and the book will be returned. It's up to you if you want to be bothered with contacting them or not. Either way I'll be fine--you know I've got like a million books to read. LOL

Good morning, ladies. Here's the freebie list for today. So far I've found one book. Let's see what else I can dig up.

MY FAVORITE MAJOR...another Ava Stone novel. Whooo hoo!
I read and reviewed SEDUCE ME PLEASE. I rated it 3 1/2 stars. It was a little better than okay, but perfection of all the characters became tiresome. They are all perfectly beautiful, perfectly rich, the men perfectly studly. Oh and the giggling was annoying too. In it's defense, I read this book immediately after reading the first in the series, RUIN ME PLEASE. And it had all the same traits--perfection and giggling, so I think by the time I got halfway through this one, I'd had enough! LOL Anyhow, my review is number one so you can check it out if you want. The one review where the reader says "I enjoyed this book. I am not one to criticize. I read for enjoyment. I don't look for grammatical or spelling errors or era errors..." I thought that was rather funny.
LOVE BEYOND TIME has been on our list before, but I wasn't sure if Judy has it. It's free again, so I decided to re-list it.
BIG LOVE IN A SMALL TOWN is a contemporary romance novella that popped up in my search.
That's it for today ladies. TTYL!

HIGHLANDER'S HOPE is a repeat from a previous freebie list. It's free again, so just in case you missed it the first time around, here it is again.
RETURN OF THE HIGHLAND LAIRD is another repeat freebie.
MY SOUL TO KEEP CALEN is the second in the My Soul to Keep trilogy. I'm certainly not recommending it, but I did list book 1 as a freebie a few days ago, so in case anyone was interested, here is book 2. I wrote a review for this book several months ago, so you can check it out if you're interested.
Check out SINS OF THE FLESH everyone. EB wrote a fantastic review for the book.

More snow again! I am really struggling with the hand fasting. I'm at 40% and it is such a boring, annoying read but I want to finish after making it this far. The H is awesome the h is just a spoiled, idiot who whines IMO.

Haha It's so funny that we have such a differing impressions of the book. I actually felt sorry for her, because everyone was trying to maneuver her into something she clearly didn't want. I think the intense attraction between them only made the whole thing so much scarier for her. I totally understood the way she felt. If they had given her more time, and she had continued with the way she was acting, I would probably have felt the way you do. The way it is I was like, damn she just met him and they all expect her to happily marry and go off with him?! Crazy!!
I just finished a new adult contemporary romance. I was up until 2 a.m. Don't know what got into me, but I really, really liked it. FYI, it's Undeclared. It's about a H and h who corresponded by letter for four years while he was away at war. He was 17, she 13. When she asks that they meet when he returns home, he pretty much blew her off. She was heartbroken. Two years after he returns to the States they are attending the same college and he is determined to claim her for himself! Sigh. He's from the wrong side of the tracks and she's from a wealthy family. He didn't think he was good enough for her, and was determined to get his life together before meeting her.
Anyhow, I'm heading back to the highlands. I'm not sure what to read next. I'm torn between that time travel one...Love Beyond Time or Delacroix's The Warrior. The Warrior is about a couple who have loved through time. Every time they are reincarnated I think something happens to keep them apart, and in this book they have to break the curse so they can finally achieve their HEA.

I am surprised you like this one. The h cannot form her own opinion listening to what everyone else around has to say and she knows more of him then the others but takes their advice. She is described as brave and blah blah blah but she is afraid to do what women were for in that time. I know that sounds harsh but she has no knowledge of where a baby comes from and doesn't know what consummating a marriage is. Her mother failed her on that front. I haven't truly felt romance just frustration. She thought she could have sex with him and as long as she doesn't give her heart she can go back... That's just dumb IMO. Her companion tells the H to leave her behind when she is injured are you kidding me. It is weird how we look so differently at this book. Lol

It is strange how different our perspectives are, seeing as our tastes are so similar overall. But that happens sometimes. FSOG is a prime example. LOL
Yes the whole leave her behind when she's injured is a little weird, but you get to understand the why of it later. I think she does know about sex, but she doesn't know that consummating the handfasting will make it permanent. I actually don't know if that is true. My understanding of handfasting is that after a year and a day either one of the couple can choose to walk away, baby or no. The babe born during the handfasting is considered legitimate. It's even been described as just another way to let a man get into a woman's underwear. I'm not sure which is correct, because all the other books I've read use the latter explanation of handfasting. I think this author may have used her own interpretation or twisted it for the purposes of her story.
But give the girl a chance EB. She met the man and within a day they are married and he's taking her away from her family and her home. She's never even left McBede lands before. I think her family did her a disservice. They should have given her some time to get used to the idea. I'm firmly in her corner. Although I do love the H!!!!!
You probably won't like the book anymore than you have so far, because it takes her a while to accept the marriage. But it's not just the quick marriage, think about it, she NEVER wanted a warrior! However, she does come to realize that she was raised to be a laird's wife and that she would not have been happy with a man unlike her father and brothers.

I have read others and hand fasting made any consummation and child born within legal but it's only temporary.
Elizabeth wrote: "I have read others and hand fasting made any consummation and child born within legal but it's only temporary."
Yes that's what I mean...it's temporary unless the both parties choose to make it permanent. It doesn't matter if they have consummated the relationship. As a matter of fact, they are expected to live as husband and wife, sex and all. So, I don't know where this author got her definition of handfasting. I may research it. I think she made up her own thing to suit the story.

This is what I found re handfasting...
A handfasting is an old Pagan custom, dating back to the time of the ancient Celts. A handfasting was originally more like an engagement period, where two people would declare a binding union between themselves for a year and a day. The original handfasting was a trial marriage. It gave the couple the chance to see if they could survive marriage to each other. After a year goes by (a handfasting was once believed to last a year and a day), the couple could either split as if they had never been married or could decide to enter permanently into marriage.
Today, Wiccans and Pagans have embraced handfasting as a part of their wedding ceremony. A handfasting can either be a legal marriage (depending on state law), or a commitment for "as long as love shall last." A handfasting ceremony can be tailor made to suit the couple.
On the one hand it says it was like an engagement, but then it says the original handfasting was like a trial marriage...is that supposed to mean that the "engaged" couple live together as a married couple? That's what I always thought.

The author's writing is hard for me to like. She writes her h as weak and mindless. The two have not only had to move fast but the author writes them seperately not together. The romance is not there bc of the organ rituals and surrounding woman. He worships her and I don't understand why. Just my perception I guess. There's no true special moments to stand out to me I guess. Enough whining. She wants no warrior imo she's a little girl trapped in a woman's body bc she hides.

I know I knew the hand fasting thing deep down but I guess until I typed it out to you it didn't sink in. Lol funny how that works. Under those standards it does change some of my arguments but my frame of mind can't grasp why someone would take the risk of having a child if they know they won't stay.

Ya, that's the part that's kinda weak. Does she not know where babies come from? I don't think she does. Furthermore I think the mother purposely doesn't have "the talk" with her, because she wants the h to consummate the relationship. I wasn't happy with Fiona when she did that. Remember she asks her if she knows about the act, and the h says yes. I mean she has SEVEN brothers! LOL But other than that, the mother says nothing else, other than that bull about having to give her "heart" in order to make the marriage reals or some such shit. It's things like that that made me kinda mad with the family--the rushing, the half truths, the trickery. I think that's one of the main reasons I'm such a big champion of the h. :-)
The H is the one who finally does, kinda, let the h know that if they have sex she's stuck. He doesn't come right out and tell her, but she gets it. He realizes that he has to win her trust, so he's traveling a fine line. If they d sleep together and THEN he tells her think about how pissed off she'd be. She probably would've made his life a living hell! LOL
Yes, I think the author twisted things to suit herself. In her defense, from the definition I read, you could argue that it's an engagement and engaged couples don't typically sleep together. But I think that's not really the case. Another site I read described it as being akin to a betrothal, which was originally an exchange of vows between the couple in church.

When they were hand fasted that's what they called it was a betrothal and that they were engaged and your right in those days a betrothal was not including sex like now. Open to interpretation if one does not think the wording through. So it goes right back to a woman of those time would not give as much as what she offered. That is the case in so many books but all of this is based around their child being born, even though she denies wanting to stay it seems with her dreams that it is destiny.

You and your love of super evil villains! LOL So people complained about Zoe or Briar? From the blurb of book 4 it does sound like Briar is an agent of some kind. Isn't she on the run and DeLuca has to help her? She sounds like an assassin. It's nice that we get introduced to protagonists for later books in earlier ones. It's also a great marketing tool because the author makes you want to read their story. It's better than the cliffhanger books because it doesn't piss the reader off, and you have the choice of whether or not to read the next book. But she does such a nice job with her characters that you can't help but like them and want to see them get their HEA.
Well if you're really nice to me I MIGHT be persuaded to get the next HRT book even if the price doesn't go down. I'm such a bloody cheapo. Brian told me that the GCs are perfect for when I want a book, but can't get it for free or on sale. I just rolled my eyes at him. He knows how cheap I am. I keep telling him he should be happy to have such a frugal wife. LOL
