LMBO Kate I just read your comments here and I posted my review. I agree with you very much. I did enjoy the couple and the side story but less sex would have made it more enjoyable. I did start to flip through at about 80% through the sex scenes, which is funny bc FSOG has a ton of sex. I did like that they kept the same bedrooms and it never occurred to keep separate sleeping arrangements. There was that one argument but it that is normal in any relationship. I don't have various rooms like they obviously did so we work things out before bed. LOL But of course I was not won in a wager so to speak.

RF Kate already answered your question and I agree with you and found myself skipping too. The how didn't bother me it was at 80% add something else interesting to the mix. Generators is what my husband wanted to go for. I think Noreen used kerosene and said it was pricey. I really don't know a whole lot when it comes to them though. We have the wood stove so that takes some of that off of us. All right it is almost 1AM so I am going to turn in. Good night ladies.

That may have been fuel oil now that I think about it. It's late. Kerosene stinks though. I had friends that tried to use it and they may have done it wrong I just did not like the smell it through off at all. Gave me a headache and I know you already struggle with that RF. Okay now I'm turning in.

LOL EB you were up late. What the heck was up with you? Thanks for the input re the kerosene. Kate did mention something about getting clean kerosene...whatever that is...because of the smell. I'm not sure how much less the smell is, but it's supposed to be better. You have a wood burning stove? OMG! Brian will be pea green with envy when I tell him! That's all he's been harping on the last couple of days--if only we had a wood burning stove! LOL They are supposed to be pretty awesome at adding heat.
So, the book, we're talking about the ET book, right? Too much sex? That's sounds about right. The story I read by her was one where the h and H met when she was 16 and he was 21. Her family had spent a few days with his at his family's estate, during which time they grew to really like each other. He was heir to a dukedom. Anyhow, he scheduled to leave for the army or navy or some such, but before her family left his estate, he asked for permission to correspond with the h via letter. They did for a while, then he was believed missing. She was heartbroken, but then about two years later, she noticed a footman at one of her friend's home, who looked a lot like the H. I think she told his father her suspicions, and it turned out that it was indeed the H. He had lost his memory, blah, blah, blah.
The story was very cute, but the sex overwhelmed it. And like I mentioned last night, there was too much skipping over, so we missed the actual development of the relations. I liked the couple, so I really wished she had done less sex, and instead used the word count towards the blasted relationship. It wouldn't have been bad, if she had kept the sex and added story. Anyhow,I ended up giving it 3 1/2 stars, because I really liked it.
Okay Kate, I seriously laughed so hard I almost peed myself when I read where you said your husband broke the light fixtures while changing the bulbs? WTH?! How the heck does that happen. You should've seriously take a video of that. I'm thinking it was funny as hell. Who knows, you might've been able to get it on America's Funniest Videos. Or at the very least you could've posted it on You Tube.
Anyhow, I'm gonna go see if I can dredge up a short freebie list.

I'm not sure if TENDER THE STORM is one that you'll like EB. Sounds like the H may have been cavorting with is mistress after the marriage, but he was not having relations with his wife at the time, who he thought was too young--she was seventeen and he married to protect her. Anyhow, read the reviews so you can get a better take on it.
WARRIOR QUEEN is based on the King Arthur legend.
That's it for today, ladies. Looks like there are a couple of good ones...hopefully. Anyhow, I hope you all find something you like. TTYL!
BTW I'm still in CR land. Right now I"m reading Flowers and the Sword. It's about a h who is being stalked by some psycho. She is forced to move at which time she meets the H. It's super creepy, but good! I'm about halfway done. The worst part of the entire losing power and almost freezing to death experience, is that it just about killed my desire to read!!!! I had all that time, and was bored beyond tears, but still I had to force myself to read, just so that I'd have something to do. LOL

EB have you been including the dates when you read a book when you write your reviews here in GR? I see your challenge update says you've only read 1 of your 200 goal, and I know that's not true! I'm thinking it may be that you don't include the dates, which is why it's not keeping track.
I fiddled with that stupid challenge setting and I could not get it to change anything except my goal # I gave up. It is a nice thought to have it but it should be set up easier. I'm keeping track on my kindle. I guess if you want something done right... Lmbo

You have to go back to each book and edit your review. At the bottom of the review where it says date started reading and date finished reading, you need to add the dates you read. At this point, just add any date in January of this year and it will automatically add the book to your list. The only thing you can edit in the challenge itself, is the number of books. I tried to take a book off the list of books in the challenge, because I thought it was there by mistake, but it wouldn't let me. I had to go to my review of the book and change the date read to December 2014 and then it was removed from the list.

Yea that sounds confusing to me. If they can't make their challenge design easier than someone else can mess with it. Thanks RF but all of my reviews were done in January so I don't get why it needs changed but that's technology for you. I just have little patience with things like that. It's suppose to be fun and if you have to fight with it well it's no longer fun lol

I don't know if HELLION is my type of book. It's yet another McNare novel where the h, a 17 year old virgin, seduces the H, who is many years older than she is. Sound familiar? It should because that's the exact same premise for McNare's other book, UNTIL YOU. In that book the H is a total dickhead and treats the h like shit. He takes her innocence without any intention of marriage and continues to treat her like crap even while sleeping with her. Of course she "loves him so much" that she takes his crap and keeps coming back for more. That's supposed to prove how much she loves him, but all it says to me is that she is totally lacking in self-respect. Anyhow, I'm very much afraid HELLION might prove to be the same thing, with the overly pushy virginal 17 year old. As a matter of fact, I hate those types of heroines, so maybe I wont even bother. It doesn't matter if the H is a saint! I'll download it and let someone else be the guinea pig and read it first. ROTFL
EARL'S DAUGHTER is a short story; only about 50 pages. It's about an earl's daughter who is running away from an arranged marriage and her carriage driver? Umm
Once again all three titles in the ONCE UPON A ROMANCE trilogy are available for free. We've had all three books on our list before, but I figured I'd include them again for anyone who has missed out in the past. Besides from the number of views we have on our little group, I think there may be a number of people who have been checking out our chats for the freebie list. Not sure, but what the heck? It doesn't take anything extra to add the titles to the list.
THE CONQUEST is a medieval romance set during the Norman invasion. Typical scenario, Saxon h forced to marry Norman H. The story is short though, only 115 pages. BTW, it's a new book; no reviews!
WARRIOR BRIDE is set in medieval Ireland. Never read one of those before. It's another novella length, listed at 130 pages.
MY SOUL TO KEEP, just one word about that book--no! I read and reviewed it. Great premise, not so good execution. The plot was too busy. You can check out my review if you have any interest in the book.

I hear what you're saying. LOL Anyhow, it's not that you need to change the review itself, but you have to add the dates you actually read the book to the bottom of the review. There is an area where you can do that which is below where you write the actual review. I guess they do that so if you add reviews for books that you've read at an earlier time they don't get added to your challenge. You know like how I've been going back and copying and paste old reviews from Amazon to GR for books that I've read umpteen years ago. If I don't put in a date read, or if I put one in that is before 2015, then the book doesn't get added to my challenge. The next time you write a review, check it out. The area for dates is just below the written review area.

Reading Fanatic wrote: "Elizabeth wrote: "Yea that sounds confusing to me. If they can't make their challenge design easier than someone else can mess with it. Thanks RF but all of my reviews were done in January so I don..."Okay I went back through and added the dates aren't you proud? I even wrote one for FSOG. My original review was over all 3 books. I am all caught up. It says I'm 2 books ahead of schedule but I want to be more ahead bc I may slack off in the summer. You know how that is. I can't seem to get into Jessie Evans book at the time so I'm going to read something else. I'm not ready for the one you tipped me off about either so it may be the Earls Daughter off todays list bc I have company coming later and I can squeeze it in. BTW I got a black Tshirt that says Laters Baby and has a pair of handcuffs hanging below the words. LOL
That's your saying! Wait, is it from FSOG by any chance? YES I am super proud of you for adding the dates. LOL It's kinda crazy that you have to do that, but I'm glad because I was concerned that it would add every book I reviewed to my challenge list and I've been going back and copying and pasting old reviews from Amazon. So, adding the dates read makes it easier. And yes, I know exactly what you mean about getting behind in your reading over the summer--it's such a busy time with the kids being at home.
As a matter of fact, since my Kindle was updated whenever I start a new book a bar pops up with info about the book and it has a tab you can click on that say "marked as currently reading." If you tap on that link it then sends an update to GR and the book is automatically added to your profile as currently reading. That's how I've been keeping track because it then adds the date you started reading the book. It's pretty cool.
Anyhow, Lucian doesn't want to go to school today. He's tired. Poor thing has had to put up with a lot the last few days, and right after he jut got over that nasty flu. He spent hours outside with his aunt yesterday, playing with her dog in the snow. He's beat! LOL I'm gonna go try to straighten up my house. What fun! Sigh
Love the T-shirt, BTW! Can you send a pic? :-)

That is my saying. Christian brother Elliot starts it in the book(so adorable) and then C&A steal it to use on each other as endearments. I sent it to your email and posted it on FB. I had looked at a couple diff ones yesterday and thought the one I got had cuffs. Mine doesn't. I did call our condemnation store yesterday and asked if they sold Tshirts and the lady goes no but we sell everything else. Lol I guess a Tshirt covers too much. Personally though I think just a Tshirt is sexier than leather lingerie. Maybe I just like the comfort aspect between the two. Lol I really have know sense for comparison...okay now I'm just rambling. TTYL
I'll skip Hellion horny teenagers who think they are in LOVE are the last thing on my reading list. I get enough of that at home. The fairy tale series looks good. Thanks for the tip on Goodreads. I wasn't putting in the date either. Went in last night and did most of them. The dates aren't always accurate but I did read them all in January.

Hey Kate, you're welcome. Ya, the actual dates aren't important, I don't think, just so long as you get credit for the ones you've read this year. When I cut and paste old reviews from Amazon I don't bother putting in any dates. Who the heck can remember WHEN you read a book last year? LOL Anyhow, I've been keeping up with the dates for now. I see I'm something like 4 books ahead of schedule or some such. Anyhow, how ya doing? We're alive and kicking! Back home with heat. Thank God!

I did notice after I started putting dates in that on your review in the right hand corner it shows the date you did the review. I just numbered mine as I went. I did January 1, 2, 3... Than I seen the date was already there and I just kept dating mine as I started. I don't think it matters either as long as you get credit as you said RF,like you said.

Too bad but I know you are into CR's right now but I started reading this book last night and OMG it's calledunder his protection by Stacey Von Haegert. There was a contest on FB and if you buy it confirm it on her page and then do a fab review you could win a 50 dollar Amazon GC. I have to say though I would have read the book for the pure joy of it. Thanks for the free list. TTYL

Let me know how you like it. I looked it up on Amazon. It sounds good! I'm in the middle of Hot Pursuit. Sexy military guy who is a HOT operative pairs up with childhood friend. Her sister has been kidnapped by members of organized who want some files the h is supposed to have; although she has no idea what the heck they're talking about. The H is HOT and he works for HOT. ROTFL
Anyhow, the romance is going a little fast for my taste, but they have known each other for twenty years. He took her virginity when she was 16 and he 17, then he bragged about and left to attend school at West Point. She, of course, had a major crush on him. So far it's okay. A little melodramatic at points, but I can deal. I think it's gonna be a 4 star read, unless it gets bad. I already know I love the ending where he declares himself to her. So I can't imagine the story's gonna get bad between now and then.
I've been in the mood for romantic suspense the last couple of days--sexy H protecting h from harm. LOL I downloaded a few free ones yesterday, so I have a stack lined up to read...until I lose interest and move on, that is.

I will. I read FSOG most of yesterday so I got that book going too. I want to finish this book later. I stopped in at my moms to do my workout and when I get home and showered I plan dive in. There is a dark duke in this read who wants the h but the main duke has already purposed. She accepted but her father has not been addressed yet bc he's bern tied up with work so I fear that thereust be a reason for the delay. I do hate angst but I love the writing so I got my fingers crossed.

You're just like me when I'm rereading a book. Sometimes I'll reread cover to cover, as if it's the first time I'm reading it. Other times I flip through and reread my favorite parts. then other times I'll be reading another book, while I'm rereading an old favorite. We're cray, huh?

We're engaged. Lol I am kicking back girl. I have done all that is going to get done for the day. I am reading cover to cover with 50 but with delays. Lol
I finished Under his protection and I checked it is not loanable. Sorry it was .99 but I loved it. There is one kinky scene where the H spanks the h which I don't know if you'd like but it's not that long or over done. I loved it. It was such a good read for me. I'm going to check the next book in the series it's her brother Edward's story. I really like the family bc they mess around with each other like me and my brothers did. The villain was really evil Kate and they all got their comeuppance. I said they bc there are several. I did my review guys if you'd like to check it out.
Funny I just read The Devil Takes a Bride and there was some spanking involved also. The hero is OCD and a little kinky. He still turned out to be the hero and his jerk of a brother did not get his just rewards. Cost it a star.I'm down with pneumonia so I can get some real reading time in. So much for getting the pneumonia shot by the way.
Oh no not you too. Please take care of yourself Kate. Everyone in my house is once again down with the runny noses and coughing but the Vick's went on the feet last night and things are looking better today. Hope you feel better. Take care
Oh gosh, Kate! I hope you're taking care of yourself. Pneumonia is no joke! Get plenty of rest, and let your family pamper you. It's nice to have an excuse to sit around and read all day, but there are less onerous ones you could've used. LOL
We're due for another bloody storm tomorrow. I'm over it now. BTW I checked out that trailer, EB and it put me in the mood for a regency movie. LOL It looks awesome! Is the h from the believed extinguished bloodline?

Yes, she is which made every single man in England want her. Especially when her family was thrown in the front of the receiving line to meet the Queen. It had so many unique twists and the h was reminiscent of Lillian Bowman by LK. I Really enjoyed her book and now have to wait for her next. The family is just as entertaining as the romance. Lol

Wow! It does sound good. I'll add it to my TBR list. I've been caught up in contemporary romance/suspense books now. I read three in the HOT series yesterday...three books in the same series in a row, back to back. That's bloody amazing for me. I only stopped because the next book is $4 and I really don't feel like I need to be spending money on books when I have so many free ones I can read.
I'm now reading Fatal Judgment by Irene Hannon. It's a Christian Romantic Suspense. H is a US Marshal, the h is a federal judge that he's been assigned to protect. She's also the widow of his best friend from college, so they have a history; although not a good one. It's really good and not the least bit preachy, which I like. Just no cussing and no sex, and the h has a strong faith.
The damn book is regularly $9.99! I got it for free. The other books in the series are all ten bucks each to, but good news--my library has the other two books in the trilogy and other books by the author, so I may be set for a while. LOL TTYL

We have another storm heading out way. Schools are cancelled for tomorrow...again! Sigh That snow/rain mix is a bitch!

Nothing is happening right now and our schools are stubborn. I am reading one of the Christmas freebies that I have it's called Family Life: The Miracle Of Christmas. I was literally crying. It has a part two but it is so beautiful. There are two stories and it is the 2nd story that has grabbed my heart. It is about a girl who is spending her final days with her favorite aunt. The girl has flashbacks of stories shared one being her aunt Dora meeting and marrying her true love. SPOILER They danced and shared the Christmas song Bluemoon and they shared many dances even when he shared the dr said he had cancer. I may have said too much but I lost it. I'm going back into see what happens now. This is a nice little Christmas ditty you too may enjoy it Kate since there is sadness and despare surrounding the story.

That sounds like a real emotive read. Sometimes I love those! I'm in the middle of a Christian Romantic Suspense story--quite a mouthful huh? LOL I didn't even realize it was a Christian book, but it's not preachy so I don't care. The H is a US Marshal who is assigned to head up the security detail for the h, who is a federal judge. Her sister was killed and it's believed that she was the intended target. Anyhow, the H and h have a little history together; she is the widow of her best friend from college. They only met twice during the time she was married to his friend; once at the wedding and once at the funeral, although he had his friend always kept in touch by phone.
The H has harbored bad feelings against the h since his friend's death some five years earlier, because he felt she was in part to blame for his friend's dying--suspected suicide, though it was never proven. As he gets to know her, he realizes that he was mistaken in his opinion of her character, which was colored by things that his friend had told him. Anyhow, it's really sweet and I love how the relationship between them is slowly developing while he protects her. No sex of course, which is a refreshing change. LOL
I got it as a freebie on Amazon, but the regular price is 10 bucks. I really like it and there are two other books in the series. Fortunately, my library has the rest of the books, as well as another series by the same author. I got interested in that series because there is a FBI agent who is heading up the investigation as to who could be trying to kill the h. He mentioned something about his wife almost being killed by a stalker a year previous, and I was like 'umm that sounds like there might be a story there' and I was right. His story is in another series, which the library also has. So, I'm set with books FOREVER! LOL

Haha You're schools are cancelled too. You're just like me. I'm so happy when they cancel you'd think I was the one who was going. ROTFL
I'm almost done with my book. The series I was reading yesterday was HOT...Hostile Operative Team by Lynn Harris. I read three books in the series between Friday night and yesterday! They are hot!!! The first and third books were free and the second one was .99 cents. It's a novella and so is book two. Book one was full length as well as the other books. There are seven in all and the eighth will be published this year. One book for each team member. I definitely plan on reading the others but I'm hoping I can catch them on a sale price. They are 3.99 or 4.99 each right now. I'm so cheap! LOL

Good morning, ladies. I hope you all are tolerating the latest storm okay. It's snowing heavily here, and is a bit windy, but nothing like the blizzard of last week. I intend to lay back and enjoy a good book today. I'll have to deal with the kids, of course, but reading is my priority today. LOL
Anyhow, here are a few freebies I found on Amazon.

LITTLE WHITE LIES sounds like it has a paranormal aspect. The h is cursed and must tell the truth always. This has led to her being shunned by the ton. The H has recently inherited an Earldom. There's something about espionage, needing to clear his family's name, and of course, the h needs to break her curse. Sounds exciting. Hopefully, it delivers. There are as yet, no review. Bummer!
TO LOVE A LADY sounds like fun. The h, a titled English lady, follows the H, her fiance and future earl, to Texas where he has pretty much run away. She is determined to convince him it's time to get married. Sounds fun! LOL
That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

I was the first to do a review and I got it when it was free as you know but now I see it is .99 for 20 some pages. Which tells me why people are not picking this read up. I really want to know what happens and wonder if any of you ladies have the sequel to loan. It is 180 pages and they want 4.99 for it. See RF I can do cheap too. LMBO I am hooked and it is sad but I am hoping one of you ladies can help me out I am like a crack addict at this. One little taste and I'm hooked. LOL Thanks for the freebies. I hope you are feeling better Kate. Judy I'm glad your still around even if you can't join in our little conversation.
I grabbed little White Lies and Two pistols for Clara. I have another book by the same author called an apple pie for a duke and they're suppose to be funny so when I am in a mood for funny I figured why not they're free. Well the duke one I've had for a while but it's the cover that gave me a second glance they're identical except the coloring. Thanks again.

APPLE PIE is hilarious--but crazy funny, if you know what I mean. I never read TWO PISTOLS although I've had it for a while. Yeah, I grabbed WHITE LIES too, it sounds good. You didn't get the TEXAS one, huh? With the ranching future earl, and the gun toting English lady who is determined to bring him up to scratch? LOL

Thanks I was going through my books and discovered I had another Em Taylor book. It's called saved by a rake. It is going to be right up my alley. I read two of her wager books last week and was thrilled when I see I had this one. Happy reading
Good morning, ladies. How are you all doing? Our schools got cancelled today EB, how about yours? Anyhow, here's the freebie list for today.

DREADFUL DEB is a M.C. Beaton (Marion Chesney) novel. Getting one of those for free is an unbelievable feat! Unfortunately, I already own that particular book. I bought it back when it was on sale. Free is better. Sigh
THE DUKE AND THE DRYAD sounds a little strange--definitely paranormal--but read the first review before you make up your mind. It gives a little extra info--and I do mean LITTLE extra. LOL

RU high? ROTFL! First you leave a comment this morning that says "Not soda at him but mad at him." I wasn't sure if you were trying to fix an earlier typo, but when I went back I couldn't find any. And now this! You must be tired. I can relate. Anyhow, I hope you're doing well.
I'm about 60% into that book I've been reading and I just borrowed another book by the same author from the library. It's from a different series. Book three in the trilogy I'm currently reading is not available right not, so I thought I'd try something a little different. I needed a change anyway. BTW what's the name of that last book you read for NG?

Gas always makes me nervous. I don't even like to store it. We always have a couple of oil lamps also. They give off more light. If your out for awhile you can't depend on batteries. You can check out the kerosene heaters online at home depot.
I had thought about getting a generator but this is such a klutzy group they'd probably blow the house up. I just this year bought an electric knife and I hide it between uses. My husband broke the kitchen and bathroom light fixtures last year changing light bulbs. True story. Which begs the question "how many idiots?".
