I got the stuff you sent me. Thanks! They're great! It's a class project...three posters. I'm planning on breaking them into groups and assigning each group to a poster. The posters are supposed to depict the story of Easter...from the crucifixion though to the ascension. Or maybe even from Judas' betrayal. I can decide that later. The posters need to be ready for Palm Sunday service, so we have a bit of time. My sweetie is having her Reconciliation Sacrament on February 7th. She's been chosen to read a bible passage during mass!

Thanks for all your help. You rock! BTW that's pretty funny about you going into work on your day off. I've done that too. LOL

kate | 203 comments Well I'm glad you realize Elizabeth is the go to gal for craft ideas. I'm a total blank on that kind of stuff.

However this might help Lucien's cough. Love that name by the way. You may already be doing this but rub Vick's Vapo Rub on the bottom of his feet. Don't know why it works but it does. Hope he feels better.

You gals had me curious so I went back and counted my books for the year. 22 so far. Aaagh. I was supposed to cut down. And there was at least two I only read a few chapters and and tossed aside and one reread. I didn't think I read that many. Is there a readers anonymous?

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lol I find it funny that I was the one who said I wanted to double what I read last year and you two said you wanted to cut down and I've read the least. Lol

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Btw the Vicks thing does work. I use to work with Amish and they gave me the tip years ago. It also works for ear aches. Mom has always had us put some on a cotton ball and stick it in your ear. You can feel it get warm and pulls that soreness right out.

If there is RA group I'll need to join it with you, Kate. I was supposed to cut back too, but so far I've been worse than ever! I'm keeping teach of my books on my Kindle. I created a category specifically for that purpose. As soon as I'm done with a book I add it to the group. It even keeps track of my library books, because so long as I don't delete the book from my cloud it remains in my account even after I return it.

Thanks for the Vicks tip. I think I've heard of that before; it sounds familiar. Anyhow I'll pick some up today when I go to Target. BTW why am I not surprised that you're as useless as I am when it comes to crafts?! ROTFL

Sounds yummy. I'm not quite so pleased with my book so far. It's ok, but not stimulating. Too much story skipped over, if you know what I mean. I'm only about a third in though, so it could potentially get better.

My poor baby has a temperature of 102.4! I just today picked up a new thermometer because we realized, back when my daughter was sick a couple of weeks ago, that the one we have is under reading. It says my son's temp is 100! I got the Vicks and just put some on the bottom of his feet. That elicited a hundred questions from my daughter, none of which I could answer. LOL

It's not too late to add the books you've already read, EB. You just have to go find them in your cloud--if you don't have them on your device--and include them. So they pre-sold tickets to FSOG? This early? We're talking about a movie, right? Anyhow, I hope you're not disappointed. I've yet to watch a movie that was as good as the book--I've watched a couple that were close, maybe as good as, although I can't remember any specific instances, but NEVER better! Plus for me the actors have already ruined the fantasy! Christian is supposed to be HOT and the actor they've chose is NOT! I'm rhyming! ROTFL I don't think there's anything wrong with him, but I'm picturing a CH type and they've casted Donald Duck! I'm being facetious, but you know what I mean. Plus, there is no way they can make the movie as hot as the book was, not without being straight up porn...at least I'd be surprised if they have. So, I'll live with the few good memories of the book that I have and picture MYSELF and Chris int he scenes, rather than the annoying female, who was the heroine. I'm off to dreamland. LOL Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it, and I can't wait to hear what you think.

Good morning, ladies. So, I was talking to a fellow mom yesterday, and I mentioned the Vicks cough solution, which by the way works!--and she told me that her doctor told her the same thing! She said he told her he had no idea why it works, but it does. ROTFL Anyhow, I think it has something to do with reflexology, or at least is based on a similar principle...you know, when you have a headache and massage certain parts of your hand or foot (depending on where exactly the h/a is located) and it takes the pain away, or at least reduces it.

Lucian is not doing better today. As a matter of fact, just checked his temp and it's 103. Sigh I may end up having to take him to see the doctor, but we'll see. This is gonna be a quick list, then I'm gonna go sit with him...I'm getting nothing done around the house these past couple of days, but at least I have an excuse for just sitting around reading. LOL

Here's the list...

http://www.amazon.com/Long-Christmas-...

http://www.amazon.com/Livin-High-Cott...

http://www.amazon.com/Ravens-Wish-Bor...

http://www.amazon.com/Forbidden-Legac...

http://www.amazon.com/Tale-Atlantis-M...

http://www.amazon.com/Saving-Simona-A...

TALE OF ATLANTIS doesn't sound like a romance at all, but I went ahead and included it on our list anyway. I read the first review, but it didn't help to clarify things any.

That's it, ladies. A super short list. But, in my book, any day you find even one good Regency, Medieval, or Highland romance, by a popular author, it's all good! So, grab the Susan King freebie. Hopefully, it will prove to be a good one. TTYL!

Well I hope it turns out to be good. Truthfully, it's a little different from the books that they usually remake into movies, so the show could end up being better than the book. Who knows? I'm just glad they didn't cast CH, otherwise my ass would've been going for sure. ROTFL

How was L&L...5 star read?

I don't know a lot about reflexology...actually I know almost nothing, but it is fascinating! Maybe you should ask him about the Vicks thing. He may have an idea of why it works. I'd be very interested to know.

Ya, I know about alternating the two meds. Quite frankly, that's all they tell you to do, unless there is a source of infection that needs to be medicated. That and tepid baths, etc. That's why I'm resistant to taking him in, because I think this is a basic flu virus. Remember Hannah had the same thing over the holiday break. If I thought he had anything else, like strep, or something along those lines, I'd take him in.

Anyhow, he's doing better for now. It got a little scary when it kept going up, AFTER I'd given him Tylenol. But I had bundled him up because the poor thing was shivering so much. I knew better, but it seemed cruel to let him freeze. Sigh Anyhow, when it shot up to 104+, I made him strip down and used a cool washcloth to help bring it down. It helped that he was complaining of being hot at the time. LOL Now's he back down to low grade so I'll just have to keep an eye on him. I'll probably have to medicate him every few hours until the fever breaks.

I have Tylenol, but I know I've gotta get some Motrin too. I'll have hubby pick some up. At this rate, I'm not taking Lucian out today. I arranged for my car pool partner to get Hannah after school today. Her kids stay late on Thursdays, so I've been picking Hannah up myself. Today though, she's going to wait in the office after school until they are ready to leave.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments When my kids fever spiked like that, or as they said feber, I would strip them and throw them in the bath as you said and when it would start climbing I'd take a cold wash cloth and lay on the top of their head. Lol. I remember one was so young he was buzzing around in his walker with the damp cloth on his head. He didn't take it off so it must have felt good. That's the worry wart in me. I Hope your baby gets better soon I hated seeing my kids like that but lord help you when they do bc they are crazy active after that. Of course your thrilled at that point bc it's just so good to see them healthy again. Ok well I'm going to do my review and check in with Mr. grey, he's so hot. Lol No he doesn't have a fever. Lmbo

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments OMG if you get a chance read that Leather and Lace book we got for free the other day. What a nice read it hit so many different notes with me without being just about hot sex. The story is good and the romance between the two is so well written IMO. Such a sweet story about two apprehensive souls just wanting to have some fun while the opportunity was there and growing into something that wasn't expected. There is also a psycho ex Kate as I know you like your villainy villains as I do. I really enjoyed it and just posted my review.

RF I created that category and labeled it 2015 reads (+14) on my kindle. That way as I read and it counts my books on my kindle I know I just need to add the 14 that are not in storage. I thought that was easier. LOL.

kate | 203 comments RF I'm sorry that Lucien still isn't feeling well. I don't know how old Lucien is but I have found with my grandchildren that the only thing that takes down high fever is aspirin. I know the doctor's jump all over you for this but I find it works best. I slipped the last time I took Marissa to the doctor. She asked if she had fever and I said she did but I gave her baby aspirin. Got the big lecture. I know they worry about Reyes disease but I never find tylenol to work on high fever and I worry more about convulsion after it hits about 103. She'll be five on groundhog day by the way. I use the chewable aspirin. That and of course wiping them down with cold water mixed with alchohol.

EB It is rare but two books where the movie was better. Jaws in the book the young professor has a affair with the sheriffs wife which just seemed out of place. They eliminated it in the movie. Papillion the movie eliminated a lot of eye rolling crap and made the story more believable. But your right about the book usually being better. Never could stand Gone with the Wind because I read the book.

Well I've been reading but nothing worth talking about. Maybe I'll look into that Leather and Lace no instead of later.

message 1321: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Motrin is the best for higher fevers but not good to continuously give so alternating was what they recommended and it does work. It just takes time. I was also told by my pediatrician that with high temps never let them have OJ bc that can cause seizures. IDo anything about the aspirins. The twilight series was close to the books. The first movie was the worst compared to the book. The actress that played Bella was the worst of it. I loved everyone else. I hope FSOG keeps to their example and keeps the same cast throughout. Victoria changed but everyone else was there. I am so excited the clips and soundtrack sound and look so good. I want your thoughts on the book Kate. I really enjoyed it. I will be getting some more of her stuff in the future. If RF reads it we should all have a pow wow. Lol I titled my review on Amazon as," Save a horse ride a cowboy." Rotflmao

When I saw you labeled your category 2015, it made me pause. I was like "2015?" That's when I realized that I had inaccurately labeled mine 2014 Reading List. LOL I've since rectified the problem.

BTW is L&L historical or contemporary. I can't tell from the little I've seen of the book.

I'm done with TYCOON'S VACATION. A three star read, and one I would not recommend. It was somewhat annoying. Sigh I've gotta start another book quick, to wipe the bad taste of that one out of my mind. ROTFL

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy?! EB! You are scandalous! ROTFL

I really hope FSOG doesn't disappoint you. I know how much you're looking forward to seeing it. I didn't read the Twilight series, but I did see the movies. I hated Bella's characters. OMG! ANNOYING! Or maybe it was just the way the actress played the part? She was way too needy for me. Ugh

Yes I know ASA is a no no for the fevers, but I hear you, Kate. I actually don't have any on hand. I do the alternating Motrin/ Tylenol deal. Like EB says, it takes time but it works. The thing the meds only keep the fever down for a while, it wont go away until he's fought off whatever virus is attacking his body. My poor little man. He's a trooper though. Except for that little time when his fever was above 103, he's been hanging tough and play. You wouldn't be able to tell he's sick.

Your g/daughter will be five, Kate? How sweet! Lucian turns 5 on March 7th!

Oh I'm good with CRs right now. LOL I'll put it on my list to be read in the next few days. I'm trying to read as many CRs as grabs my fancy before I move back to HRs, because I know that once I do, it will probably be a while before I get back to contemporary. I'm actually thinking about reading Almost a Bride next. I've had it forever; and always thought it was a historical (probably because it pops up during the HR search.) Anyhow, turns out it's a CR.

BTW good news! Lucian's fever broke. I haven't had to give him any Tylenol since 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Sometime yesterday evening his temp was back to normal, and it's stayed that way so far. He was 99 this morning. Keep your fingers crossed!

RETURN OF FRENCH BLUE is a romance suspense...contemporary.

WILD AND WICKED is a repeat from a previous freebie list.

I think COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS SEDUCTION is a steamy romance between wife and husband.

TIME RESCUE sounds awesome! It's a romantic, suspense, time travel... There's a time travel school, and the students are dying off on every mission. Sounds like a movie I'd love to watch!

That's it for today. TTYL!

Yay! BACK TO THE HEART was chosen for publication by Kindle Press! I'm gonna get a free copy; and can I say that that book sounds awesome! It's a CR about an H who falls instantly in love with the h. He's lying about his real identity, and she has major trust issues when it comes to men. She stupidly had an affair with her boss who then tossed her aside--she's pregnant. Anyhow, the excerpt read really well, so I'm looking forward to getting my copy. Hey EB, I think you said you voted for that book too.

You're welcome Kate, re the list. I have fun doing them. But lately there hasn't really been anything too exciting to add. I really liked the look of the time travel one yesterday...seems like it's gonna be a nice combo or romance and mystery. Anyhow, I'm off to do today's list.

Here's today's freebie list. It isn't starting off very well. The first one is the only new one I found in my regency search...and it looks weird. I can't even tell if it's CR or HR. It's about the "afternet" which is a technological method by which departed souls can contact the living. Jane's soul has been in contact, but she is invisible, so they find a human "avatar" who can be her visual embodiment--don't know if that means she actually enters the body, but there you have it. Anyhow, its seems like there are two romances; one for Jane, and one for her host body. The whole premise is a little strange, but intriguing. It's certainly unique and overall the reviews are good. The one 3 star review said she wanted more of Jane Austen--"although it's probably more like actual life this way." That made me laugh, because nothing about the book seems "like actual life." ROTFL

http://www.amazon.com/Jane-Actually-J...

http://www.amazon.com/Already-His-Cav...

http://www.amazon.com/Entanglement-Fa...

http://www.amazon.com/Boldly-Love-Ed-...

http://www.amazon.com/Honeymoon-Trail...

http://www.amazon.com/Writing-Ruby-Ro...

http://www.amazon.com/Winifred-Jolene...

ALREADY HIS is the second book in the CAVERSHAM CHRONICLES. EB you just finished the prequel story, MISS AMELIA LANDS A DUKE.

ENTANGLEMENT is a romance/suspense/mystery. It only has one review, which is 5 star--the reviewer mentions something about a sequel. I'm not sure if that means that this is the first book in a continuing series, or a standalone. Sigh And BTW I'm assuming there is a romance becasue there is a male and a female working to unravel the identity of a mute man in jail. The h is a nurse, the H is a court missionary. Not sure what a CM is, but I don't think it has anything to do with religion. LOL

TO BOLDLY LOVE is based on an actual diary of a woman from the 1800's. HONEYMOON is a sequel to BOLDLY. It's the story that follows the h and her newly wedded husband.

WRITING RUBY is a story about a romance that occurs on the Titanic between an author and his fictional character. Yes, you read that right. He has a romance with one of his characters, who is total fiction! LOL

WINIFRED JOLENE sounds like a good story--at least according to the first review it is a good story, but the writing is bad. The review is written by LMN11, whose reviews I read all the time. BTW the book blurb doesn't give a whole lot of info...isn't that fantastic? Ugh

Anyhow ladies, that's it for today. TTYL

Good morning, ladies! Here's the list of freebies for today. The first few books are all part of a series, but as far as I can tell the books are totally unrelated. Some books are contemporary, others sound historical. I haven't looked too deeply into them, but it just seems strange. Anyhow, I'm listing all the ones that are free today; although I do believe that one or two may have been on our freebie list before.

http://smile.amazon.com/Collins-Story...

LADY OF PASSION is Alicia Quiglye's "After Dark" version of her romance novel, THE SECRET BLUESTOCKING. The author publishes her stories in two versions, the clean, and the "after dark", which is the steamy version.

Remember the good old days when each book had it's own unique cover? Well those days are long behind us. Check out these two book... (BTW they are both free, but have been on our freebie list before, so you probably have them both.)

http://smile.amazon.com/Cold-Christma...

Yeah I did nominate the book on KS and FB'd her. I already bought Already his a year or so ago. It was one of the two I read by her. Hey Janet, we're gearing up here for a blizzard. It's been a crazy morning so far, what with all the bloody errands. I see you liked my review for MINE TO TAKE. That's freebie on Amazon right now, so if you liked the sound of it you should grab a copy before it gets priced again. I'm in between books right now. Time to start another one, but for the life of me I can't decide what I wanna read.

Anyhow, I gotta run. Time to take Lucian to Gymnastics! I'll check in later.

BTW Kate, I think rereads should count towards your annual book count...so long as you read the entire book and not just browse through your favorite parts, which I tend to do sometimes. So, EB, if you've read FSOG that should go towards your stats...don't yall think?

SEVENTY THREE...ummm sounds like she likes the series. ROTFL OK so you're taking a break between books one and two and reading the WAGER one then. I get it...or maybe you're reading them simultaneously. I do that sometimes when I'm rereading a favorite. I'll read it in between while reading another book. We're so strange.

Well I've run around like crazy today. I've spent all of tens minutes at a time at home today. This is the longest i've been here...thirty minutes....and I'm about to leave to fill up my tank and get Hannah from the bus stop. I'm so tired. All I wanna do is choose a book and curl up and read. I couldn't care less about the storm...so long as WE DON'T LOSE POWER!!! There's as much as 3 feet of snow expected. Sigh. Anyhow, I'm headed out. TTYL Let me know how WAGER reads.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I will fill you in. I have FSOG often enough that I can read them at the same time and not get lost in the story. Lol

A Desperate Wager was the one where the father gambles off his handicapped daughter. He is a nice man really but he is dying and wants to make sure she will be taken care of.

Read the Nicholas one. Gave it three stars.

I was cleaning out bookshelves. I came across my fathers old James Herriot books and reread one. Still loved it. I'll probably reread the series now. It was almost disconcerting to read a book without typos, grammar, spelling or continuity problems. When did the bar start to lower?

We're all prepared for the big storm. I hope. Of course if the power goes out the pipes will freeze and crack and the house will flood. If that happens I'm heading the car back to Arizona and if anyone wants to come they can jump in the back seat. Stupid winter.

We lost power. One trick with the pipes is to keep them running a little and keep the doors to the cupboards underneath open. Brian isn't too happy with me right now, about the move from Cali. He may want to hitch a ride out west with you. LOL. Me too, for that matter. Stay warm!

Thanks for the name of the book, DESPERATE. I probably would've driven myself crazy trying to remember.

Kate~ I bet you hated the fact that Gabs brother did not get what was coming to him. All that shit he pulled and he gets rewarded. It did piss me off after that mean comment he made about his sister to Nick and was not delivered a facer. Such a cad. I gave it 5 stars though because I adored the direction the author took the story. You know me when it comes to angst and lies between H/h. I loved that Nick was honest and respectful to Gabby so it earned 5 stars bc I would reread it.

I'm going to check out that other book you two have mentioned. Since I'm in that vein. LOL

I checked out Desperate and it is by the same author. Em Taylor which I wasn't aware of. I bought it of course and don't care if I could have burrowed it bc if it is like her last I will want to own to reread. The reviews I read looked good. There was some chic who said it was porno but if you looked back at this same ladies review she has stated that about several books. It makes me question why the lay keeps buying books in this category. A lot of books state if the love scenes are graphic and I spied several that stated just that. I didn't actually read this ladies reviews but another reviewer at the top of the reviews brought all this to light. The book states that it contains adult content and this lady bitches because the sex is there. That's like complaining about Twilight having vampires. Know what your buying before buying. I have been guilty of just getting books without reading summary based on a hunch but before reading I try to get a feeling of it to suit my mood. It isn't fair to an author to complain about your lack of research. I want to find this ladies reviews just out of curiosity and see which books she complained about.

message 1343: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yeah I found her she is called Books forever she is a retired educator. Her reviews are labeled as stock porn. To each his own I guess but there are so many reviews that warned of the explicit sex and to get mad bc it exists seems silly and invalidated. Oh well I am going to go read the stock porn I have no problem with that. LOL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Has anyone else had issues with getting messages from Amazon? I just noticed that when I did my review this morning on the St Nicholas wager that someone voted that it helped them but I never got notified. I know it's not that big of a deal but remember a couple weeks ago when I never got notified from you RF of your comments on here? What is going on?

message 1345: by kate (new)

kate | 203 comments Your right EB. Drove me nuts that Gabriella's brother did not get what was coming to him. Instead he gets a pat on the head and 20 THOUSAND POUNDS. That's what took it down to 3 stars for me. Though I really liked the open communication between H/h.

It's annoying when people complain about sex in a book when it's stated right in the book description. Sex is fairly common in romance novels so if you find it offensive do your homework. There are still plenty of sweet or Christian romances to read. In fact there is an endless list of good christian writers.

I have everyone out shoveling. The cat and the dog refuse to go out. Who can blame them. No doubt I'll find a mess on the carpet later. Maybe I'll send them to Arizona.

message 1346: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Lmbo. No shoveling here. I figured that's what you hated about the book. I did complain about it in my review but it kept its stars for me bc I loved the honesty early on and throughout. I have started deliberate wager. I just started but I love that her characters always seem straight forward. I am finishing laundry today but other than that my schedule is open to this book. All of the ladies book I looked at were books that had no Christian implications. I think the lady was in denial and secretly longed for the stock porn as she called it. Why else would head in that direction. If you don't like the sex you think she would find an author with her tastes and Amazon even lists suggested authors with a similar writing angle. I mean I could maybe see a few books that didn't meet your expectations but 13.i didn't count but according to that review I read she had. Amazon even has a listing at the bottom that says people who bought this book also bought...

Hi guys, I'm back! I survived my second blizzard and 36 hours in a freezing cold house! The storm finally ended sometime during the night, or early morning, so we packed up and left. I'm at my sister in law's right now and we plan on staying here overnight. It looks like we finally got power back at our place sometime since we left there this morning, so Bri and I are going to go over and check things out, make sure the heat is working etc. But, we decided we'll spend the night at his sister's anyway, because God knows it's gonna take a few hours at least to warm up the house. When we left this morning it was 34 degrees downstairs and 42 upstairs. The kids did great, but poor Lucian's teeth were chattering after he'd been up for a couple of hours this morning. I bundled him up and put him back under a heap of blankets until Bri got the cars cleared then we let them hang out in the car until we were ready to leave.

How'd you do, Kate? Did you lose power at all? I hope you managed to stay warm!

Yes EB, complaining about sex in a romance is like complaining that Twilight had vampires--ROTFL! I loved it when you said that. Haha Anyhow, some books have A LOT of sex, too much, while some have none. I think I'm more of the medium type. I can read books that don't have any, but I've actually read a couple where I thought that it needed at least a little sex, because the story was just so bland. Then there are the books that have so much that it completely overwhelms the story. COMING HOME TO YOU was one of those that had too much sex; I skipped over some of the scenes. But as much as it was chock full of sex, she didn't shortchange the story for the sex, which was good. Do you remember those sex scenes, EB? Man, they were so raunchy and hot, they would've make an award winning erotic romance novelist proud! LOL

Anyhow, I'm gonna run now. We're going to go back to the cottage to make sure everything is okay and pick up a few things we'll need to get the kids back to school tomorrow. TTYL!

Wow sounds like you got some excitement your way. I have been cold with below zero temps but with our wood stove it helps...a lot. Yes I too agree some books can have too much. I like variety some raunchy (pink dildos, lol) then sweet like Mrs. Drew Plays Her Hand then, Scottish rebellion with bare chested warriors give or take a sex scene if there's action. I am finishing up Desperate Wager and have to say I am curious to see how it ends. I think she's written it predictable but am preying that I am wrong and it knocks my socks off. Well maybe not my socks it's cold, lol. RF bundle that baby up tight. Make a burrito baby that's what I use to call my kids. My works schedule has tamed down so I have time to read more. Coming Home to you had some good scenes but I seemed to remember they were repetitive and approached in the same way which made it even worse, but I loved that with one touch he brought all her emotions right to the surface after 10 years. I hated that too. Necessary for him to chase his dreams and not resent her but meaningless when all that time was wasted between them. I guess though it just made them more certain that they were meant to be.

kate | 203 comments Hi ladies. Well are we all ready to move to warmer climates?

Sorry you lost your power RF. Been there. We were without for over two weeks after Hurricane Sandy but at least it wasn't winter. This time we were lucky no power loss. Just lots of snow. You probably can't get one now for love or money but you might want to pick up a kerosene heater as an emergency backup. You can get them at Home Depot. Buy the clean kerosene though the cheap stuff has an odor.

I just read The Devil Takes a Bride by Julia London. The hero is a Lord Ian type. He is OCD with a few kinks in his sex drive. Don't think I've ever read one where the hero has fetishes. It was a good balance of sex and story I thought.

I liked Desperate Wager but I thought the author leaned to heavily on sex. It started to read like a sex manual for the handicapped. What do you think EB? It was 3 stars for me. Liked the couple. Just a little slow.

Speaking of that The Hero's Best Friend was a western where the hero who is having an affair with the h becomes crippled and leaves the h for her own good of course. She's having none of it and follows him and makes him face his difficulties. They do write a sex manual for handicapped people but nobody will publish it because it's the 1800's and is considered porno. It was a great book. It really is about the loss of friendship between the hero and his best friend and learning to adjust to major life changes. The sex was the side story.

Hey Kate, thanks for the tip re the heater. My mother suggested I get a portable gas heater, but I wasn't sure if there was such a thing. I'll tell my husband about the kerosene heater. That's a great idea! Luckily the lights are back on today, although we're still at my sister in law's. When we went over to the house this afternoon it was still only at 50 degrees, so we decided to just stay away for the night. We'd already dragged all our stuff over here anyway.

Who's the author who wrote DESPERATE WAGER? I'm thinking Em Taylor, but I could be wrong. As far as I can remember, I've only read one of her books and while it was cute, it was very sex heavy. The book skipped over the story! LOL The couple was sweet, but I'd flip a page and it would be two weeks later. And considering it was a short story, she dedicated a ton of pages to the sex scene. The end result was a story with lots of sex, and no development of the relationship. I can't remember if I've read anything else by her since. I certainly didn't blackball her; I did give the book 3 1/2 stars. I think I have at least one, maybe two of her books in my cloud that I picked up as freebies. The one EB just finished and at least one other one. I should check.

HERO'S BEST FRIEND sounds like a good book, and one that is right up your alley, what with the crippled H. LOL I'm not surprised they couldn't find anyone to publish their book--Oh the shock! ROTFL Anyhow, I'm gonna go take a shower and go to bed. I'm due for a good night's sleep. TTYL!
