Yes that it RF. I've read AlCaversham's Bride and Already His. I took a break and Aspoon mentioned this one to me on FB so I was game. I never read Loving Sarah and may go back and read that one. I don't blame you for sleeping in BTW. I have worked day shift and the evening mini shift all this week and they have me on the schedule everyday next week except Tuesday and I have a quarterly meeting that day at 8am. They had another person quit and they're having problems with the schedule so I'm sucking it up. I'm not killing myself so its just my time away from home. I've missed you guys. How are you Kate I haven't talked to you in a while?

Haven't heard from Kate in a few days...she's been quiet. What's up Kate? So EB, you already read CAVERSHAM? What happened with his father and Amelia--was she still alive? I know that Cav was guardian to thier little girl, but as the head of the family he would be--Amelia could still be around. I'm curious. I haven't read Cav's story as yet, and probably wont for a while, so fill me in, will you?

Works sounds crazy, but ya, it's best to get the hours while you can. You never know when they're going to be back to full staff and your hours will get cut. Also, being their go to person ensures that even when they have enough staff, they will make sure to get you hours. Anyhow, I'm off to read yet another CR novel. I don't know what the heck is up with me lately. LOL

Oh no I did not know the duke died. Ok I read the end and there is a sex scene at the end that I thought uncharacteristic of a 52 year old man. LOL I was sort of torn with there being this big gap him having other kids and all but this is my life so I was open to it. The 52 year is very sweet but now knowing something more that will happen is sure to bring on some tears I'm sure. I didn't know that happened. I better prepare myself. I have swapped books with Aspoon in the past and she usually judges my taste pretty well. I'm scared to read the darn thing now. I'll be brave and carry on ladies. TTYL

Girl, please! Don't go doing research! ROTFL I just thought you'd remember if they said what happened to Cav's father when you read his story. They probably didn't though, because I believe she wrote MISS AMELIA after she wrote CAVERSHAM.

Elizabeth wrote: "No I read cav a while back and now I'm just really confused"

Haha I'm sorry if I caused any confusion. Did you realize that MISS AMELIA LANDS A DUKE is the story of Cav's father and his love interest? The Duke has two grown children when he and Amelia meet. Cav is one of them, and he has a sister. Then in Cav's story, CAVERSHAM'S BRIDE, which takes place some seven years after his father and Amelia meet and marry, Cav is the now the duke, which means that his father has died. And Cav is guardian of both sisters, the grown up one, and the one that his father had with Amelia. It's confusing because you're read them in a backward order, which is the way the author wrote them. I hadn't read Cav's story, but I went ahead and bought AMELIA and read it first because I knew it was a prequel novel or sorts.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a couple of freebies for our list today...only a couple. Sigh

http://www.amazon.com/Soldiers-Poison...

http://www.amazon.com/Caressed-Moonli...

http://www.amazon.com/Salvations-Secr...

http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Ship-...

http://www.amazon.com/7th-Letter-Donn...

FYI, CARESSED BY MOONLIGHT is a vampire romance. The H is a vamp king.

THE CHRISTMAS SHIP is the latest addition to the LOVE'S GREAT WAR series. We've had the previous four books in the series as freebies on our lists in the past months! I've read the first two and thought them quite good, even though I don't usually read WWI novels.

That's it for today. I hope you all have a great weekend. TTYL!

kate | 203 comments Thanks for the list RF. I grabbed the vampire one. In the mood I guess.

Thanks EB for the western. Looks good. I mean he really looked good.

January is always a busy month for me. More so then December. That's when I usually decide I'm going to revamp my life and everyone around me. Fortunately it only lasts a couple of weeks. Then I give up and every thing goes back to normal. There's always next January.

Here's a piece of Housekeeping advice I learned from my mother. Always clean the closets when your mad.

I read a few things but nothing exciting. I've been in the mood for some Ken Bruen or Patrick Taylor books but they're never on sale. I may take a trip to the library tomorrow. I used to go twice a week but the ereader has spoiled me.

This one overlapses with the previous book and is so much better. I'm home for the day and have a chocolate zucchini cake in the oven smells wonderful at my house. OMG, Kate! It's so good to hear from you! I was wondering where you were. That's kinda funny that you're driving your family crazy with the NY drive to revamp. LOL I've been a lazy bugger all year. Today is the 18th day of January, and so currently I'm on my 18th book for 2015!! Twelve of which have been CR novels. So weird. BTW do you read CR? I ask because I found a book with a h who has a BKA (below the knee amputation.) She's a former Army nurse who gets hurt during a bombing and had to have her leg partially removed. The H is the doctor of her hometown...a boy she knew during her childhood. I think the families are neighbors. Anyhow, just thought I'd ask. For some reason I'm thinking you like your romance books to be historical.

Yes, EB! I did get a copy of that book. Thanks for the heads-up. Is it a contemporary or historical? I only briefly looked at it, and now I can't remember which it was. In any event, I'm game for reading and discussing it. Right now I'm reading Coming Home to You. The story is great, but there is way too much swearing and the sex scenes read like an erotic novel. I don't usually have a problem with some nasty talking during sex, and the occasional f bomb here and there during the dialogue is cool too. But in this book the f'bomb has become a regular part of the English language; like and, to, but, etc. Sigh Oh well, I'm off to resume my reading. TTYL

Oh yeah you read that one for NG didn't you? I was wondering how the hell I'd gotten an ARC copy. Now it all makes sense. If I remember correctly you rated it 4 stars. So far I'm on board with you. Hopefully all the sex doesn't get too tiresome. The love scenes are hot as all get out, but it's getting a little annoying reading the details of every single sexual encounter. It doesn't help that they have sex at least three times a day. Ugh!

I wont read it. Erin is a little too slutty for me, although I do like her. But she's too over the top, and isn't the type of h I usually like. She hooked up with Ryan the very night they meet, for crissake! I do love Ryan, though. I really think this book only works for me because of the love connection that the couple had between them. Had that not been there, I think all the sex would've turned me off. I've checked, but so far there is no book two.

One thing I don't understand about the book I'm reading, is how the heck Beck just takes off from his job and stays indefinitely in Rockport. He's a BOSTON city detective--lots of crime, lots of work! That doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not focusing on it. I really love the way Beck loves Kelsey. It's so romantic!

I read the preview for the next book, Erin and Ryan's story. Did you read it? They actually has sex in the ladies room that first night they read--of course it was pretty obvious during the book that that's what happened, but when I read the scene for myself...wow! LOL Anyhow, getting insight from Erin, it seems she may be all talk; well maybe not ALL talk, but it seems like she may be hiding behind a false wall of bravado. Remember when Kels told us that Erin never talks about her feelings, so there's definitely a story there. Anyhow, the long and short of it is that I might actually like their story. I love the fact that man-whore Ryan hasn't slept with anyone else since he met Erin. Oh and how about what she said to him that first night after they'd knocked boots in the bathroom; about "I hope I don't get pregnant...." It had me ROTFLMBO!

And ya, the author does a great job with psycho Jason's character. However, I was pissed off when she had that guy in Boston getting ten years! I was like f'ing TEN years?! And when the DA text Beck to tell him that the scumbag plead guilty he says "good news?" Where the hell is the good news? The psycho had raped and murdered his ex-girlfriend, after stalking her to the point where she was forced to move and change her name. There was a by the book, videotaped confession. That's an open and shut case; a slam dunk. If I had been the DA, there would have been NO DEAL!!! Why would I deal when I'm holding all the cards? Not to mention the fact that they had already started the trial, so any deals would've involved life or at least twenty five years. If they could prove the murder was premeditated he'd have gotten life without parole...no death penalty here. Sigh That part of the story struck my DA chord and annoyed the crap out of me!!!!! Ten years was like a slap in the face...especially when you consider that he's not going to do the full ten years. With credit he'd be out in seven, tops! ROTFL

THE GOVERNOR'S SONS sounds intriguing. It's about a segregationist governor, who fell in love with a black woman when he was in college. Thirty years later, there is a young, black civil rights leader and from the blurb and the title I'm thinking this young man is the governor's son. How delicious! I don't know why it's in the romance section though.

ROSALIE'S STORY is another one that involves race issues. Ummm Must be because it's MLK day.

Only kidding ladies. I like contemporary too. Jennifer Crusie is pretty good. Bet me and Cinderella Deal are two of her best I think. I like Lori Foster. When I'm looking for wounded warriors Jackie Williams has a series on current vets. There all in England though . She is an English writer. Running Scarred is the first in the series. There are a few others I like . You need to change genres once in a while or it all becomes so predictable.

My sister was my best friend . When she died I knew I would never have to go again to another casino or read another Nora Roberts book. Every cloud. Suffice it to say she loved Nora and I think she's dull a best. She was always trying to prove me wrong by making me read one more of her stupid books. Think of her every time Nora's name crops up. But I don't read her books. I'm not that sentimental.

By the way the authors of Highland Light and New Mail Order Brides contacted me last week in regard to reviews I had written. I had pointed out editing mistakes. The HL writer said she had two editors and a proof reader check the story. Are there no more English majors? I felt bad she had tried so hard and the story still had multiple spelling grammar and even continuity problems. It wasn't a bad story at all. Just badly edited. Anyway they were both nice about it.

What? I am not reading FSOG! Oh you mean you saw that I was reading TEACHER'S BILLIONAIRE. Ya, I'm loving it. The h has always believed that her father died before she was born--that's what her mother told her. Shortly before she died, the mother asked her best friend to mail a letter, which revealed the truth. Turns out the h's father is a billionaire and now a senator, who is running for president! The letter that was mailed was sent to him--he didn't know he had a daughter. He is married with two children. The H is the father's stepson--his wife's son from her first marriage. The h an H meet, when her father asks him to go see her and set up a meeting so he (the dad) can meet her. It's really very good.

Anyhow, I know you like Austenland...was that a movie, or did you read the book? There's an Austenland book as today's Kindle Daily Romance Deal. I thought you might want to check it out. Here's the link.

Sure a lot of Americans were pissed because he was a Catholic boy, and of course his views on interracial relationships was not popular, but if a war had been pending I think SOMEONE would've noticed. I'm not sure THUNDERSNOW is about. The h is a 14 year old girl, so I'm not sure where it's going.

ROCK HARD VIKING is a paranormal romance. The H is an island...yes an island, hence the "rock hard." LOL Anyhow, it sounds modern day because the h parachutes to this island and things go from there. I think it may be more on the erotic side, but it sounds like a fun read. It's a short one; only about 50 pages.

SWEET ROMANCE BUNDLE is a set of three contemporary romance novels...or should I say novellas. Not sure why it's in a historical romance search, but there you have it.

VIEW FROM THE SIXTH FLOOR doesn't sound like a typical romance, if it's a romance at all. It has to do with JFK's assassination being a possible conspiracy. Talk about coincidence; Kate just mentioned him last night.

MEMOIRS is a paranormal story. There isn't even a hint of a romance in the blurb, so I'm not sure if it's anything anyone will be interested in. I could be wrong and have missed the romance...I haven't read any of the reviews.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL

Hey Kate, how are you? I totally agree with you...actually I think I may have lost my mind reading all these CRs. I'm on #13 right now; and I'm still having fun! I actually have two more lined up for after I'm done with this one. One thing I'm finding is how much easier it is to please me with CR vs HR. I'm not sure why; maybe it's because with HR the story is so easily subject to historical inaccuracies, the authors so often have characters behave out of the norm for the time period, etc. With CR pretty much anything goes. Anyhow, so far I've read and reviewed 12 and only one has been less than a 4 star read for me. I'll be back to HR soon, I'm sure. I can't stay away for too long. As a matter of fact, some nights before I fall asleep I've been rereading parts of a favorite Highland romance to get my Highlander fix. ROTFL

I hate Nora Roberts too! I tried reading her books way back in the day, but could never get into any of them. It used to annoy me when I would roam through the romance section at the book store, because so many of the books were hers. Her area was like twice the size of several other authors put together. Ugh I haven't been reading any favorite CR authors, just the books I've found in the freebie section that sounds intriguing. There are a couple that I've read, where I'd like to read the rest of the series, so I've added them to my WL. Gotta wait for them to become available for free, or at least for the price to go down. ROTFL

Sorry about your sister, Kate. So far I haven't lost a sibling; that's gotta be tough.

OK just thought you might be interested in the Austenland. I'm not really sure what it's about, but it sounded intriguing. I mean is it a CR with people going to visit Jane Austen's place or what? Oh well. I'm just over halfway done with TB and I'm loving it! The H is spending time with the h at the behest of his stepfather's campaign manager. He wants to make sure the h doesn't go to the media before her father does. I told you he's a senator who's running for president. It's all about protecting his presidential campaign. The H really likes the h and loves spending time with her. He only agreed to "keep and eye" on her because if he didn't, then the sleazy CM would've hired someone else to do it. Of course her father doesn't know anything about what's going on, but his wife does (she's the H's mother). I don't like her one bit, even though I know she's only trying to protect her husband who has worked hard to get to where he is; she seems like a cold fish.

And don't get me started on the daughter, the h's half sister...a total bitch! Spoiled little rich girl who is treated like a princess. I can't stand her. She gets her own book later on, and according to the reviews her character does a 180 turn around, but I don't care. I won't be reading it. LOL

Anyhow, let me stop ranting. I have two other CRs lined up to read when I'm done with this one. At this point, I don't when I'm gonna stop reading CRs. Sigh

Ya. Lucian is sick again. My poor baby. He's been up since 4:30. He has a nasty cough and has been running low grade fevers on and off since Monday evening. Nothing that slows him down; you know how that is, but I kept him home from school yesterday and plan on doing the same today. He passed out on the couch yesterday after we got home from CCD. I think I should've made him take a nap during the day, but he seemed fine other than the cough and feeling a little warm, that I didn't even think about it. I'll make sure he gets more rest today.

BTW for my CCD class we need to make three posters depicting the story of Easter. I'm thinking of getting picture--only God knows from where-- and having the kids color and maybe cut them out. They can paste them on the posters. I don't think I can trust the little heathens to actually DRAW anything. I'd hate to see how it turns out. ROTFL Anyhow, it's just an idea, but I'd welcome some input from the Crafts Guru--that's you, in case you haven't figured it out. ROTFL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I'm sorry to hear about your son. I got up and was preparing for work got in there only to find out I was actually off today. LOL I looked at the schedule wrong and so now I have a free day to do with as I please. I sent you some ideas to your email. How long do you have to do the posters? I saw one that was cute it had all these different color feet prints and in the middle it said We're Following in his footprints. Does each kid do their own or is it as a group? I wasn't sure but I'll keep digging.
