I got it. I hadn't seen you around and wanted a full length book and remembered I wanted to go back and try another by Michelle Willingham. I loved that book she wrote A Wish to Build a Dream On. I just snagged it. I was looking at Falling in love again (I think that's what it was called) and read Lark's review and then knew it wasn't for me. Now that I have the GC I feel like I'm cutting through it like nothing. LOL But it's so much fun.

There's nothing like an Amazon GC! Sigh My husband got me two GCs for Christmas. I was disappointed to see that neither was for Amazon. But then I got one from my in-laws. Love it! LOL A WISH by Willingham was one of our freebies, wasn't it? I think I've read that book. Yes, I did read it. It was a nice short story. I think you're gonna like UNDONE. The H was really good with the h, but he has issues.

BTW Kate, have you read that book...Undone by the Duke? Now that I think about it, it might be right up your alley. The h is an agoraphobic!!! The book is available on KU.

BTW EB, BRANDS is written in the first person only in the prologue and epilogue. The rest of the story is told in the third person. Just in case you hate first person as much as I do, and get turned off when you see the "I" in the narrative. I almost stopped reading it myself. ROTFL

Happy Saturday, ladies! Here's today's freebie list.

http://www.amazon.com/Trials-Artemis-...

http://www.amazon.com/Miss-Laceys-Let...

http://www.amazon.com/Seducing-Regenc...

http://www.amazon.com/Good-Deed-Renee...

http://www.amazon.com/Borrowed-Time-B...

http://www.amazon.com/Irish-Flapper-C...

SEDUCING THE EARL is a super short story; only 33 pages.

ON BORROWED TIME is the second in the BUXTON CHRONICLES trilogy. We've had books 1 and 2 on our freebie list previously. So, if you got those, you'll need to grab this one too to complete the set as it's a continuing series (although you may be able to read each book as a stand alone...I'm not sure.)

FYI today's kindle daily romance deal are five Heyey novels each available at the low low price of $1.99 each. As you may or may not know, Ms. Heyer's novels usually set for a round ten bucks each. Here's the link for any who may be interested.

http://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=amb_lin...

Well, that's it for today, ladies. I hope you all find something you like. Have a great weekend! BTW can you believe that I am now in the midst of my THIRD contemporary romance--that's three IN A ROW!!

OK, so I deleted all of Whitsby's books from my cloud...all FOURTEEN of them. I didn't even bother to check them out. Kate, your assessment was enough for me. It would have been one thing if you'd hated them because of the story, because our love or hate of a book can be based on a single nuance, but the technical aspects? Nah, your assessment was good enough for me, Kate. Thanks for saving me time and aggravation!

Kate, Kate I found a good one for you. The h is paralyzed...I think from the waist down, but I'm not certain. Anyhow, it's one of those Kindle Countdown Deals. The price is .99 cents right now; due to go up to $3.99 in five days. Here's the link.

http://www.amazon.com/Desperate-Wager...

It's by Em Taylor. I've read something of hers before and it was OK for me. But, for .99 cents, what the heck? I'll give her another try. LOL The h's father wagers her hand in marriage and the Duke who--won, lost?--I'm not sure which, has agreed to marry her. He was drunk at the time. Actually, I think he may have a drinking problem because of some past cross to bear. Anyhow, thought I'd let you know. TTYL!

kate | 203 comments Thanks RF. Desperate Wager was on KU so I'm ahead 99 cents. It looks good.

Good call on deleting Whitsby. They were way to amaturish. I just can't see you liking them. EG: The tree brides were from different parts of the country but had one thing in common. They were all wanted for murder. What were the odds?. They were all madly in love with their husband in days. What were the odds? Now I could almost buy that on the two 17 year olds but the grandfather was a freaking nut job and his son a portly wimp.

Speaking of young love. My grandson told me he bought a diamond ring for his girlfriend and he is going to ask her on Valentines day. He is taking her out for dinner and having Tee shirts made for their 18 mo old daughter and 6 month old son that say "will you marry Daddy". Who says romance is dead?

Haha That is romantic! Sigh Hey I see you've been super busy posting reviews on GR. I'm totally with you on the 5 star ratings for ISABELLA and FREDRICK'S QUEEN!!! I've gotta get my review for FQ done...I never got around to writing one. Sigh

BTW I'm on my FIFTH contemporary romance in a row! That's some kind of record for me. It's been years since I've read that many in a year, much less in less than a week. LOL Right now I'm reading Breaking Up with Barrett. So far so good!

Hey EB. You've gotta get this latest contemporary romance that I'm reading. It's another freebie. Here's the link...

http://www.amazon.com/Breaking-Barret...

The H is a billionaire from a wealthy family...eldest of five gorgeous brothers. The h is the daughter of his family's estate gardener. The Edwards have always been the gardeners for the Englishes, starting when Emily's great grandfather migrated from Canada to Philly with the Englishes back in the 1920s. Anyhow, the H is eight years older than the h. He is quiet, reserved, and aloof. He has a reputation of being a "shark" in his business dealings. He's the CEO of the family's company. Anyhow, supposedly it is suggested that he might need a fiance to soften his image, so he hires the h for the role.

When the story begins she's already been "working" for him for four months. She's a grad student and he calls her whenever he needs her for an "appearance." At the beginning of the story, she gets a call from him for the 8th such "date." Anyhow, because her feelings for him are growing--she's pretty much loved him her entire life--she decides she's going to "break up" with him that night. That makes her more reckless and she acts differently during dinner. This leads to the door being opened for them to deepen the relationship.

What I really loooooooove about it is the fact that the H has loved her pretty much all his life too, but because he's eight years older he had to wait for her to grow up. Then there is the fact that even though he's this super smart, super rich, super gorgeous guy, he's like a nervous schoolboy around her--although you can't tell, but the reader gets insight from him and it's so endearing!!! The lengths he goes through just to try to find out if there is any possibility of a future between them is awesome--including the whole "fake fiancee" scheme. LOL You've gotta get it!

It's hot too, even BEFORE you get to the sex. This author can create the sizzle between the couple and make it seem so real, without using any crude or suggestive language!!! I was super impressed.

The second book in the series sounds awesome too. We meet brother Fritz, who is the H in book 2. He is Mr. Rule Follower, and is the compliance officer for the family company, but there is mention of him behaving totally out of character one summer by stealing wine from his parents' cellar in order to impress Emily's cousin. Turns out this cousin is the h in book two. Sigh

Good morning, ladies! Here's the freebie list. This first one is the second book in the KELLINGTON series. We've had books 1 and 3 on the list in the past. Or maybe that was books 1 and 4. Ummm I'd have to check to be sure, but anyhow, here's book 2. Of course it's not one of the books that I need. Sigh

http://www.amazon.com/Revenhopes-Mist...

http://www.amazon.com/Stormy-Seas-Rog...

http://www.amazon.com/Harbinger-Doom-...

http://www.amazon.com/Little-Secrets-...

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S433X8G/r...

REVENHOPE'S MISTRESS looks like it might be a fun read. An impoverished brother (an earl) and sister, who needs to make money while the brother seeks a wealthy bride. The sister comes up with a scheme to adopt a disguise and use her abilities at cards to make some quick cash. She poses as her brother's mistress???? Anyhow, the H is recently returned from Canada...an earl himself.

THE HARBINGER OF DOOM is a three book trilogy, all of which are included in the free bundle. The only thing is the readers age says it's 12-18??? I'm not sure why it popped up in my search, but it sounds more fantasy than anything else. Anyhow, I included it on our list, so you can check it out and decide for yourselves.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

OMG! EB, if you haven't picked up a copy of Breaking Up with Barrett you'd better do so, while it's still free. It's sooooooo romantic!! OMG! When Barrett recounts certain events throughout Emily's childhood and adolescence which demonstrates how much in love with he's been for year, I almost cried. Sigh The book is of the charts sexy, especially when you consider there's only ONE sex scene! Unbelievable! And when they finally do have sex, it's perfect! Another sigh! Barrett comes across as the uptight, unemotional, aloof, suave businessman. But when he's will Emily, wow! She unwinds him completely, and all that hot passion that's been hiding underneath comes pouring out. At one point she asks him where all this charm has been hiding, and he says, "it hasn't been hiding. It's been waiting." Sigh

I love stories where the H has loved the h for years. Right before they do the deed, he tells Emily that he fell in love with her when he was 8...that's the first time he saw her and her mother let him hold Emily. He remembered being so fascinated with baby Emily and was mesmerized by her eyes. He spent a long time holding her, just looking at her. Isn't that the sweetest thing?! I'm almost done with the book, and I'm of two minds...on the one hand I'm glad, because this has been such an intense read for me. On the other hand, I'm sad because I'm gonna miss Barrett and Emily.

The author has set the bar so high with this book I don't know how she can possibly keep it up with the other books. We'll see. Book two is about younger brother Fitz, and Emily's cousin, Daisy. Apparently, Fitz has had a thing for Daisy since he was 19. I wont read it next though. For one thing, the damn book is $3.99 and you know how cheap I am. The third book is available for loan through Prime, but I want to read book 2 first. Anyhow, I have it on my wish list, so hopefully the price will go down soon. In the meantime, just in case it's as intense as book 1, I need to take a break from the English men. LOL I'm gonna read another CR, The Wager. I don't know WHY I'm on the CR kick right now, but I plan on enjoying it for as long as I can, because I know whenever I go back to HR's I wont be back to the present any time soon. ROTFL

Good morning, ladies! Here's the freebie list. This first one is Quigley's "After Dark" version of her book A MOST UNUSUAL SITUATION. I own a copy of MUS, and I haven't read it, BUT I did do a thorough perusal through the story, and I have to say it's one that I wont read. It's not your kind of book either, EB.

The so called hero continues to have sexual relations with his mistress, AFTER being intimate with his wife and realizing that he had feelings for her. I guess some could excuse his behavior by saying that at the time he believed his wife was having an affair, but I just found it plain distasteful, especially when the sex was more than hinted at. And that was the CLEAN version! I can only imagine--and hope not--that there are details in the "after dark" version. Ugh Anyhow, it's the mistress who is causing problems and has an accomplice who plants doubt in the idiotic "hero's" mind. I didn't read it and I hated it! LOL

Oh ya, for a minute there I'd forgotten what book I'd loaned you. Don't worry, she'll eventually leave the house...and more. What I really liked about that book is the quality alone time the couple get together in order to establish their relationship. That's key, because once they go to the Duke's world that's when all his issues come to the fore.

Anyhow, I'm almost done with THE WAGER. Billionaire bets that he can get the h to fall in love with hiim within a month. If he wins he gets a classic car worth $40 million. Of course, he's the one who falls, and very quickly. He does call off the bet, but it still comes back to bite him in the ass of course. She just found out and wants nothing to do with him. It's been about two weeks now and he's yet to lay eyes on her. Poor thing is in a major slump!! He even took to stalking her for a while. Poor baby! LOL

The only thing I don't really care for is the first person account. At least it's one of those that switches focus between the protagonists so you get both perspectives; and it switches from one to the other every chapter, so you don't have to guess whose perspective you're getting the story from. As if that's not clear enough, the author even labels each chapter with the character's name. LOL

It reminds me of that last book I read for Naughty Girls, only that author did a piss poor job with the whole switching focus thing. Now that I've read a book where it's done properly and with a story that I actually like, I can honestly say that I don't really care for the practice, but I can live with it. I definitely think I would've liked this story a more if it had been told in plain old third person. LOL

Sorry, honey! I've been so wrapped up in my latest CR novel that it's taken me all day to respond to your comment. This is number 8 in a row, BTW, and I honestly think I'm gonna read another after this one--although I don't have the next book lined up as yet. The one I'm reading now is kinda cliche. The couple lives in Cali, and really, the author makes so much about living in Cali seem stereotypical. That aside, it's still a fun read. The h has a "date deal" with her friends. If she goes out on five dates they will help her paint her new home. She's been hurt really bad--found out her fiance was cheating on her with her stepsister (sister didn't know she and cheating ex were together.) Anyhow, now her friends are trying to force her out back into the dating scene, hence the deal. She meets hot bartender at the location of her first date, and from there things get interesting. Of course, hunky bartender is not who/what he seems. LOL FYI it's another freebie, of course...LICENSE TO DATE. Here's the link in case you wanna check it out.

http://smile.amazon.com/License-Date-...

Anyhow, mail? What do you mean, you got mail? LOL BTW have you gotten to the part where the two get married as yet? Jonathan's issues don't really crop up until after he takes Victoria to London. She really tries hard to overcome her phobia, but he's so messed up that he's not really much help to her. I got a little pissed off at him when he ran off and left her in England, but of course, all works out and they get their HEA in the end.

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments What's going on ladies? I had some spare time while my lady gets her hair done. How is everyone? I haven't seen the free list. Did I miss it again? I hope all is well.

Hey EB! No, you haven't missed anything. I'm running late this morning. Hannah has the day off school, so I slept in a little longer than usual, and since we've been up I've been preoccupied with the little buggers--Lucian insisted on staying home from school too! LOL Anyhow, I'm gonna post the list. TTYL!

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments I have started reading this book I burrowed from Aspoon. It is by Sandy Raven. It's different the H is a duke and 52 years old. His mistress played him for a fool and so he is not wanting a new relationship. Amelia is not a pure bred lady and so she doesn't think anyone would want her. She is also a lot younger then him. It's different and I'm keeping an open mind. I liked her other books from what I remember.

That sounds like Miss Amelia Lands a Duke. Is that it? If it is, it's the prequel story to Caversham's Bride, which we had as a freebie several weeks back. The H is CAVERSHAM is the son of the duke in MISS AMELIA.

FYI I read WRITTEN IN STONE. It's an unusual vampire historical romance. I gave it 4 stars, but it's a little strange. Check out my review if you like--it's on the first page of reviews so it's easy to find.

That's it for today, ladies. TTYL!

Oops! I just noticed that you said the book is by Sandy Raven. It's definitely the one I thought it was. I really liked that one too. I plan on reading Cav's story, but it makes me sad to realize that Amelia's duke has already died in that story; he's gotta because Cav is the Duke in his story--and it only takes place about 7 years after Amelia wins her Duke. I know they have a daughter, because in his story Cav (the son) is guardian for his two younger sisters, one of whom is 6 years old. I don't know if Amelia is around in Cav's story, or his she passed on with her Duke. Gosh I hope I'm not depressing you with this info. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. It definitely made MISS AMELIA a more poignant read for me.
