Oh you're most welcome, Judy. We're usually a little more chatty as a group, but with the holidays everyone has been busy. I hope you had a good Christmas. I will be back posting lists by Monday.

BTW have you heard about Amazon's Kindle Scout program? If you haven't, you should check it out. Authors submit books to the program. Readers vote for the books they'd like to see published. At the end of the nomination period, the votes are tallied. I'm not sure what the criteria is, but if a book meets it then Amazon will publish the book. Readers who have voted for it get a free copy. Janet and I both voted on a book that got selected for publication. We're told a free copy will be given to us before the book is released. If you've never heard of the program, and are interested, here's the link.

Have a great weekend!

Loving my book it is a little reminiscent of the movie Push with Dakota Fanning. So much out of our norm and I can't wait until the two actually consummate the relationship it is going to explode. LOL TTYL

kate | 203 comments Hope everyone one enjoyed their holiday. Santa dropped off the stomach flu here with his other gifts so I was able to get some reading done in between trips to the bathroom.

I've read Silk is for Seduction which I've reviewed. I also read Someone to Watch Over Me (4 star) and The Heiress (1) which Amazon will not let me review even though I changed the review 3 times. Go figure.

In the Heiress Lynsay Sands totally ripped off her own book The Countess. This wasn't just a recap of the story. The first half of the book at least was the same story. The Countess by the way was a rip off of Week end at Bernies which didn't exactly translate to an historical romance novel. Just Bizarre. I hadn't read the reviews for Heiress until after I started the book and realized it was all very familiar. I was an LS fan I'm disappointed in her.

Well I'm of to read a John Chisholm for a change of pace. Take care everyone.

Hey Kate, sorry to hear about the stomach flu. At my house it's been the cold. My daughter and I have both been drowning in a head cold. Luckily that's all it's been; no sore throat, fevers, or anything else. So, I can't really complain; although the head cold was bad enough, thank you very much! Unlike yourself, I haven't gotten any reading done! Instead, I've been catching up on missed episodes of Supernatural (a television series I've been watching for years!) I bought a Fire TV device from Amazon, so we can get instant streaming via Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and others, on our television. I'm loving it so far!...even though the only thing I've watched up until now is Supernatural. The kids have been non-stop complaining that I've been hogging it. LOL

Anyhow, I'm off to post the freebie list. Hope you're feeling better. TTYL! BTW thanks for the heads up on SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME. I'd pretty much decided that it would be the book to which I gave my LK virginity. ROTFL I plan on reading it sometime in the very near future.

Hello ladies! I hope everyone has had a good holiday season so far. Poor Kate has been sick with the stomach flu, which is one of the worst viruses that one can ever experience! I, of course, have had a nasty cold, but I am feeling much better this morning. That is thanks in part to the fact that I did a lot of lying around and resting this past weekend.

Anyhow, I'm searching for freebies on Amazon right now, so let's see what treasures we can unearth today. FYI, some of the books on the list will be repeats out of consideration for our new member.

http://smile.amazon.com/Fellingham-Mi...

http://smile.amazon.com/TIFFANY-Pirat...

http://smile.amazon.com/Collected-Rom...

OMG! UNTIL YOU Is a freebie AGAIN! I have this book in my cloud, and really, I just need to delete it because I doubt I'll ever read it. It touches on my number ONE pet peeve--heroine so desperately in love with the H who treats her like crap, but she sleeps with him anyway. And in this instance the H is a complete dishonorable bastard!!!! Ugh!!!! I HATE that, as you all know. Anyhow, some people seem to like it a lot, while others hate it. Isn't that usually the case? I'm including the link to Sandy Milan's review for the book. EB this book is definitely NOT for us!!!

http://smile.amazon.com/review/R375AB...

I've read POPPEIA before and loved it! It's a little bit unconventional, even a little juvenile at times, but it made me LOL! The h is a spirited little thing--she actually shoots the H at one point. LOL

I've read a HUSBAND FOR MISS TRENT and liked it very much. I think I gave it 4 stars. Anyhow, you should know that the story is told exclusively from the h's POV. It's a really short story, but for me it was satisfying. The author actually wrote a companion piece for this book, written exclusively from the H's POV entitled Love Finds Lord Davingdale, which I've never read.

I also read and liked THE SPINSTER'S BEAU. I did write a review; I wrote one for MISS TRENT also. BTW these books only have a few reviews each, so if you're interested in reading mine, it should be easy to find.

The PIRATE COLLECTION is a set of four of Ms. St. Clair's PIRATE stories; although they're not exactly pirate in the true sense. The H's are usually "gentlemen" living and working on the high seas. LOL Also, from past St. Clair freebies, you're probably aware that her stories as so short that there really isn't any time to go into any details, yet still I love her books. They're perfect for a sweet treat right before bed!

COLLECTED ROMANCE is a set of seven of the author's short stories. I've read two of them and loved them both. But I admit to being in the minority. Her stories remind me of writers such as JA and CB--true to the times, so the romance is very subtle and depicted through very subtle means. Not the most exciting for some readers, but good nonetheless, at least it was for me. LOL I think the main problem with her books is that they are so short and readers feel cheated. All I can say is that I liked the first two that I read. KITTY I have four stars, and have read twice. BRIZECOMBE I read once and rated five stars. Maybe I'm crazy! LOL

Anyhow, that's it for today ladies. Turns out there is only a couple of repeats after all, and all the others are new. Although I think UNTIL YOU has been on our list before; I'm not positive about that though.

Good morning, ladies. Here's the freebie list for today. The first couple are repeats from previous lists.

http://smile.amazon.com/Silent-Yes-no...

http://smile.amazon.com/Cash-Christma...

That's it for today ladies. You may notice that the first five books listed are repeats from freebie lists of the past several weeks. Those titles are all still available for free, so if you missed them before, check 'em out and grab yourself a copy. Judy, if you haven't read A SILENT YES and you like westerns, you've gotta read that one. Both Kate and I read and loved it--5 Stars, baby! LOL It's a novella and makes for quick reading. It's also available for free once again.

EB did you get the email from KS regarding out Highland title? I am so happy!! Of all the books I nominated, that is the one I most want to read!! BTW I nominated a contemporary one today. Sounds really good. The H is masquerading as a cowboy, but from the excerpt he's really someone famous, who is taking a sabbatical from his life. The h is newly pregnant for her ex-boss, who seduced and dumped her when she told him she was pregnant. There is a HUGE trust issue, but from the first moment he set eyes on the h, the H knew that she was the woman he'd marry! Isn't that romantic! Sigh (Sappy I know, but I can't help it.) I can't remember the title right now, something about HEARTS. Let me go check. TTYL

Umm, looks like CASH FOR CHRISTMAS is also a repeat freebie!

Yeah, I came on here to ask you if you got it. I have been so busy guys. Kate sorry to hear you were sick for Christmas. My oldest had it Christmas Eve and just laid around Christmas day at my Mom and Dads. My hubby had it too and stayed at home. The past few days I've been at work and running errands. I also took some me time and exercised so I feel pretty good. They asked me to come in today but they didn't call until late last night and made plans so I turned them down. I hated to in a way because I could always use the money but I wanted a day to have with no running around. I have a couple places to stop today but nothing major. I work New Years Day and I get double time for it so I'm hoping they call me tomorrow because it too will be double time.

I finished Moriah Densley's Mind Tamer and I gave it four stars. I can't remember if that was the same as you gave it Judy but I think it was close. I really liked the H he waited 320 years to find the h. He was married 3 times before but their death was grizzly. The villain is a nasty bastard to put it mildly and him and Kyro have fought for decades. The h gets some alarming news but her and the H were awesome. You know RF I've told you before that I have to have trust in my relationship or it's useless. Well this chick read minds and her and Kyro communicate that way. It was like even when they slept one mind slid into the other like a glove. It might have been me just at that moment but seriously it made it so romantic the way the H protected her and funny when he'd eavesdrop in her conversation with the competition. He also was patient with her even though he could have lost her.

That is two out of three books we've selected now so I need to go see what's new over there. BTW I know none of you are into 50 Shades but this movie that is out February keeps sending me clips coming on FB. The latest one shows the two and it looks super hot and romantic but the H has an Irish Accent. I like an accent you all know this EX: Colin Firth and Chris Hemsworth but he did not have one in the book. I'm just not sure if I like that they have changed that. I will be upset if they change his back story to explain his accent. Anyway I am off to KS for a while and then I have The Unwanted Earl to read today. January I have another book to review I promised to do. Coming Home to You was the name of the first book. RF you may remember I did the blog for Naughty Girls. She told me it would be out in January and so I've tried to keep caught up so I could enjoy it. I hope it's as good as the first because the couple you glimpse from CHTY they already had phone sex. LOL

BTW have you heard from Natalie? She talked with me just long enough to tell me she was stealing my FSOG clip. That's jacked up. Alright hope to hear from you all later I have the day off and I've missed you guys.

So after careful scouting I only found 2 that appealed to me. One was Back To The Heart. I like the H/h names MR. Black and Miss White. I thought that was kind of cute. The 2nd was called The Scandalous Escapades Of Lady Prudence. It was cute and the couple seems like they will give some laughs. There are some that are getting ready to end so maybe that will bring in some new ones. RF did you see the one about the lady who lives next door to the strip club. I was thinking really? It compared to Magic Mike ladies. I did like watching Magic Mike. Would I want to read it no. The movie was great because of it's visual aids. LMAO Just my opinion anyway I am on to the next read. Later

I voted for the same two. No, I didn't see the one with the strip club, but I did see the one with the h who cheated on her ex-husband, who left her and is now stalking her. It's titled MEETING DEREK MASTERS. Apparently the h wins a contest for a "romantic encounter" with Derek Masters, a wealthy black, businessman. Anyhow, it lost me when it said "Karen must grapple with her need for casual sex to fix her insecurities and her search for her true romantic destiny." I hate a whoish h, and this ones sounds like she has real issues. LOL

I can't wait to get my copy of the Highlander book. It sounds good! I'm reading a freebie from our list today, THE EARL WHO LOVED ME. It's good, and the author even manages to get the titles and forms of address correct, for the most part. She does incorrectly style the daughter of a viscount as "Lady" rather than Honorable Miss. But all things considered, she did a great job with the titles. Anyhow, I like it and am giving it 4 stars. I'm just about done.

Sounds like you've been quite a busy little bee. I'm glad work is going so well for you. I still feel like crap, and now on top of it, I think I may be coming down with a stomach virus! I just can't catch a break this holiday season!

message 1116: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Boy you sure are getting hammered with the viruses this year. My work called me again today and asked me to do a three hour shift up the road so I said yes. I know I know I said I would relax but I figured by 4:30 I would have my walk in, which I just did, and most of the day I could kick back so I agreed. Easy way to make some money. Lol I saw the Derek one it did not even click until you brought it up. I'm cooking some flounder and a sweet potato for lunch and then I'm going to read before I go in. We still have time to catch up

You too, EB. I can't keep up with your busy schedule lately. LOL. I finished the book I was reading. Plan on reading THE CRAVING next. It's one of our freebies. But first I'm going to finish the last seven episodes of Supernatural I have to watch. That will bring me up to the current season, season 10. I'm already behind though, so I'll probably wait and watch it on Netflix too. Go make that money, honey!!

Good morning, ladies! Here is the freebie list for today. FYI, the first title is an "episodic" novel. According to the blurb, the author will continue to write stories about Clifton Manor as long as she has stories to write. I'm thinking that means you have to continue reading to get any conclusion to it, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, it's free so it gets added to our list. Reviews are mixed.

http://smile.amazon.com/Clifton-Manor...

http://smile.amazon.com/Scandal-Regen...

http://smile.amazon.com/Haunting-Secr...

http://smile.amazon.com/City-Angels-T...

http://smile.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Br...

http://smile.amazon.com/Duncans-Posse...

http://smile.amazon.com/Fires-Lady-Ba...

http://smile.amazon.com/Remembered-EH...

MAIL ORDER BRIDE JOURNEY is a serial novel...it seems. Anyhow, three parts of the story are available for free, and all three are listed. I'm assuming that the three parts is the book in it's entirety, but I'm not positive. All I know for sure is that there aren't any other parts of the story available at this time. FYI, the first two book have a number of complaints about bad editing.

Not sure about FIRE'S LADY. The h goes to live with a famous artist to work with him. Turns out he is her father, as her mother used to pose for him. Doesn't sound like the artist knows that she is his daughter--at least at first. There is a cousin of the h's who is trying to off her father, for financial gain, and the H who is trying to protect the father. He doesn't trust the h because he's not sure if she's in cahoots with the cousin. The H is married to a wife who has lovers, but refuses to give him a divorce. One of the reviewers complained taht the ending was one of the worst she's ever read, but fails to say WHY it sucked! Some spoiler info would have been nice right about there. I'm assuming there is a HEA.

Well the list today isn't very awe-inspiring. LOL You will notice that there are a few repeats from lists from past weeks. Just thought I'd include them for anyone who may have missed out when they were free the first time around.

I'm not sure if CITY ANGELS is a romance novel or not. It's about a h who lives int eh early 1900s whose ambition is to become a lawyer--a near impossibility back in those days. There is some mention about an attachment to a man who is already pledged to another, but I don't get the feeling he is the H for the story. The h finally does find a lawyer who hires her and they work together on a murder case. Maybe he will be the H.

A FACE TO DIE for is set in the 60's and is another one that doesn't sound like a conventional romance novel. Anyhow, that's it for today. TTYL If any of you are going out to celebrate bringing in the new year, have fun and stay safe!!

Happy New Year, Ladies!!! Kate, I hope you're feeling better. Judy I look forward to getting to know you better this year. Noreen, you are missed friend. EB, I know you're working today. Go make that money, honey. Double time!! Whoo hoo! Good news, I'm feeling much better. But, my daughter is now on a downward spiral. Hopefully, she'll be able to fight it off. TTYL!

BTW I read The Craving yesterday. It was a freebie on one of our more recent lists--and is still available as a freebie. Anyhow, I liked it. I'm gonna review it today and will give it 3 1/2 stars. It's not the usual sort of Highland romance, but has a paranormal twist. The H is cursed by a gypsy in 1427 and confined within a mirror. Almost two hundred years later, he is released by the h. He has to earn his freedom, but isn't sure how to do that. Both the h and H have trust issues with the opposite sex, but ultimately find love together. The book is nicely put together--well written, nicely edited, and no real issues. My problem with it is that I would have liked to have seen more of the H and h together...you know, more meat! We read about the first day they meet, then the story jumps ahead one month when their relationship comes to a head. You hear about how close they've become during the one month period, but of course, you don't get to read about it yourself. I didn't particularly care for that. The HEA is nice, and there is even an epilogue. There are three other books; the stories of the H's friends who were cursed with him. Although, he doesn't know that; he believes his friends are long dead. A worthwhile read, I think.

Hey ladies, I was perusing Amazon and found an entire series that is available for free. I don't think it's the usual run of the mill romance, and is set during the depression era. Anyhow, Kate, I know you at least read all sorts of books and though that maybe you'd like this series. I'm gonna check out the series myself. There are six books in all; all free today! From the blurbs it isn't a romance story, per se. The first one doesn't seem to have any romance at all, but is about three couples who try to adjust to life after the stock market crash. Book two seems to center around a couple, who fall in love and escape a mental institution of all places. Anyhow, they are connected to the original characters from book one, which will become clearer as the series continues...at least that's what I gathered from reading the book info. FYI, the series is written by a man, so don't go looking for any *real* romance. LOL

kate | 203 comments Happy New year everyone. I'm not sure how many books I read last year. I buy at nook and amazon and have live-brary and people sometime give me books so I never thought to keep count Think I'll mark them on the calendar starting today. You've made me curious.

For some reason amazon only accepted one out of my last four reviews. If they keep it up I'll have to ask them what I'm doing wrong. They were all books I didn't purchase from them so that may color their opinion.

Hey guys! I'm with you, Kate. I'm not sure if I could keep an accurate count of the books I read last year. I'm gonna try, though. For this year, I will create a collection on my kindle and add titles to it as I read. That way I'll know exactly how many I've read by the end of the year...although I'll probably have to keep manual count for any library books since as they disappear from your device as soon as they are deleted from your cloud.

BTW did you see my post from yesterday; the one with the links for that freebie series? I checked and they are all still available. I know you read all sorts of books, and this series sounds pretty interesting. ALL SIX books in the series are free right now!!!

Happy New Year! Wow, EB! Worked last night AND now this morning too? Aren't you working this evening also?

Shoot, I'm usually up at least an hour earlier than this. Six a.m. every morning, baby! I usually have the freebie list posted by now. I'm running late! LOL

If I can stay disciplined and actually review every book, that would be a good way to keep track. But oftentimes I lose track. Sigh Have a good morning at work!

Freebie list!!

http://www.amazon.com/Mistaken-Kiss-H...

http://www.amazon.com/Tuesday-Nights-...

http://www.amazon.com/Warriors-Wife-W...

http://www.amazon.com/Rose-Blooms-Twi...

http://www.amazon.com/Troianne-Time-T...

I'm not sure about TROIANNE. It's a time travel, but according to the second review, it took a wrong turn around the midway point. It's by a "Kate", but I don't think it's our Kate. Don't you go by Kate476 on Amazon, Kate?

Oh, BTW, the h in MISTAKEN KISS is partially blind! I know this one should be right up your alley, Katie girl. ROTFL

That's it for today ladies. Hope you're having a relaxing holiday season. TTYL

kate | 203 comments Thanks for the list. That's a different Kate. That's why I put numbers after my name because it' a pretty common one.

I read Warrior Wife. I usual like DD but this book had a doormat heroine and a hero that was happy to walk all over her. I gave it two stars.

I've had WW for a while, but haven't read it as yet. Can't stand a doormat h, especially when she's coupled with a mean and bossy H. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm reading Holt's ASSASSIN right now. It's pretty good so far. The H is hired to kill the h. He goes to her under the guise of taking her to her uncle for safety, but is really awaiting word from said uncle as to when to off her. It's a short one, only about 120 pages.

Did you check out the freebie series I posted yesterday? I went ahead and got all the books. It's different and I do like different every once in a while. It's also a series that my husband may like.

kate | 203 comments I'm going to pass on the series. My mother was born in 1910. She lived with me until she died at age 84. I loved her dearly but I have heard enough depression and world war two stories to last 3 three lifetimes. The whole era makes me cringe.

But I have learned from that experience. When I want the kids to clear the room all I have to say is "Did I tell you about the time I marched on Washington" and then ignore them when they all say yes. "I remember when I went to the airport to meet the Beatles the first time they came to America" is another good one.

I bought mistaken kiss a while back and never finished it. I was bored. Maybe it was just the mood I was in not sure. Tuesday nights is by the same author who wrote The Grace of a Duke and The Seduction of an Earl. The first one I loved the second one not so much. I was so excited to read it but ended up mad. I got this one though I thought what the heck.

I sent you two both an email I received from GR. It is a book challenge and it says it will keep track of your books but I have already read and reviewed 2 books and it does not acknowledge them. I'm not sure if it will work or not but I thought it may be fun.

Thanks for your input on MK. I'll keep that in mind. I downloaded it before I got your message, but it will probably go to the bottom of the pile now. Too bad because it sounded like a fun read. I read Sandy Milan's review for TUESDAY. She didn't seem too impressed, and gave it 3 1/2 stars. I see you commented on her review in the past some time. It gives me pause that the H set the h's sister up in a house AND spent every Tuesday afternoon with her for a year! I'm cool with the house because it sounds like he saved her, and even the companionship is cool, but it will be weird if it continues after he and the h marry, especially if she isn't privy to the reasons for it. But I'm gonna read it anyway. I could very well end up loving it. It all depends on how that particular issue is presented.

I did get the email. I responded to your email. LOL I did receive the email from GR about the challenge. My problem is that I am trying to read less NOT more. ROTFL I get so involved in my reading, that I seriously neglect other things I need to be doing, even my children. LOL For me, moderation is the key. Part of last year, and most of 2013, I read a new book almost every day, or at the very least every two days! This past fall, I decided that I would make the effort to slow down some, and I have, but I could do better. I think what I really need to do, is get my stuff done during the day, and set aside specific reading times. That way I can devote myself to my reading whenever I get the chance, rather than reading while I'm doing other things, like washing dishes, making beds, etc. Because that slows me down AND ultimately takes away from my reading time. Sigh

I haven't got a count as yet, but I will work on that today. Once I have an idea of how much I read last year, then I can set my goal for this year. I agree with you, it sounds like fun. But, you said it hasn't acknowledged your books so far? I wonder how they do it, because lately, from time to time, I've been transferring some of my past reviews from Amazon to GR. I hope it wont include those in the count. Umm I'll have to keep watch and see what happens.

Good morning, ladies. Here's the freebie list.

http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Bayou-Book...

http://www.amazon.com/Hope-Tomorrow-C...

http://www.amazon.com/One-Classic-Lat...

http://www.amazon.com/Love-Without-Ru...

http://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Pride...

http://www.amazon.com/Wilde-Flower-Sa...

ONE CLASSIC sounds like a fun read. FYI, it's a contemporary romance. So is LOVE WITHOUT RULES. Not sure why so many contemporary romance titles are popping up in a historical search, but there you have it.

Anyhow there really isn't too much of worth in the historical freebie section today, as you can see. That's it, unfortunately. Maybe we'll hit pay dirt on Monday. Have a great weekend!!

I got Kate's response but not yours RF. Must have missed it. Anyhow Kate what were saying about the dates needing changed? How do you do that? I just finished a book by Clarissa Wild that made me check myself. LOL It is not one I usually would reach for because the h has a boyfriend and is sleeping with someone else. Well sleeping is the wrong choice of words. LMAO The boyfriend is a loser and it is clearly over but she is clinging to something that does not exist anymore. I would have liked to see her done with one befre starting up something else with Kaito. Still, she has not had sex with her old boyfriend (Ethan) and so I let it slide but now she is wanting to go back to him after having sex with Kaito. What? I do want to read the next book though. What a sucker I am. I am done for the day ladies and am going to kick back and have a book orgy. LOL TTYL

Okay, so I checked out the books by Clarissa Wild and I have a favor to ask RF. If you see Hooked by you Book2, Book3, book 4 on the free list could you let me know. It's 46 pages and she wants .99. The other ones are 56 pages and she wants 2.99. Not I am still in the first week of January I do not want to spend all money in the first month. I ould like to continue with the series but with them being little tidbits I'll hold out in the hopes it'll show up on the freebie list. There is a box set for 5.99 and if they don't show up when I finish Ruth Hartman's read I'll consider it. Well sorry to hear you want to slow down on reading RF but I understand. I hope we can still share book thoughts. I set that goal but I certainly won't let dictate how I read. If I don't have time oh well. I got an email wanting to tell me what to read too but I will pick my own books and deleted it. LOL
