Freebies Available on Amazon Today
Sorry ladies. I created a freebie list, but once again GR screwed me over and had problems submitting the comment. This means that the entire list was lost. I forgot to copy it before submitting it. I'm pressed for time time morning, so will not be able to re-post the blasted list. If I get time, I'll do it later.
The main freebies on the list were the following:
http://www.amazon.com/Saved-Rake-Em-T...
http://www.amazon.com/Cowboys-E-Mail-...
http://www.amazon.com/Sheriff-Catches...
The COWBOY books are two in an eight book series. Noreen had provided us with a link for another of the books that was free a few days ago. That's it for now. TTYL FYI they are contemporary.

LOL The highest category for me is my British collection (regency's). It more than doubles my other groups. All those duke's. Some of them are a box set so the number doesn't truly represent the number. All the books I've read I removed so I can focus on specific books. I hope all of you have a great day. Where are you Noreen? Are you getting wind storms like we've been getting? It knocked out my power for a while yesterday.

Now is the best time to organize them EB, while you don't have that many...not that over 200 unread books is by any means a low number. LOL But, I really wish I'd done this way back when, but when I got my first Kindle fire it didn't have the capability of creating groups.

I created one for short reads because I figured I could reach for them straight away and then of course I had one for Scot's, British, paranormal, fairytales, and contemporaries. The short reads are next to the highest followed real close by my Scot's. LOL It's so much more organized now but took me the majority of my evening. I would flip to the book description get the page count and summary of the book and then threw it in the right category.

At least you're done with the grouping. I'm still doing mine. It's been days. I definitely plan on doing a Short Story/Novella group too. You're right. It makes is so much easier to grab something short, when they are grouped together. Do you have books double grouped? I mean would you put an English regency novella in the short reads group as well as the Regency group? I've been wondering about that. So many of my books can be added to more than one group; for instance a time travel romance that is set in Regency England. LOL
BTW I found another good read for you...Miss Merry's Christmas. It's about a handsome, arrogant duke, and a feisty American governess. It's totally cute. He inherits a couple of wards for whom she was governess. When she brings them he tells her he's hired a "proper governess" and she can stay for a couple of weeks to help transition the girls. She dresses him down as the need arises. His mother thinks he's too pompous by half, so hires the h as her companion to keep her around, because she realizes that the h gets under the H's skin and riles him like nothing else ever does. LOL

I put short in short books only because now my kindle will open to just one category at a time I figure when I reach for the short I will decide what I'm in the mood for. I put time travel's in paranormal because it sounded metaphysical and I didn't have much in that category so it helped break up my books a bit. I had some books I got some time back that went off of snow shite, Cinderella and a fairy type book so they went under fairy tale. I actually had a couple referring to Cinderella. It just helped to break them up a bit more. I have over 80 in the British alone. I could probably go back and have a separate category for duke's. LOL

Ya I put paranormal, fantasy, and time travel in one genre. I guess my fantasy would be your fairytale. That's another good name for that category. It's quite a chore, but I tell you, I'm rediscovering my books. And I think that having them in groups will make it harder to overlook books. BTW, I read HER LORD AND PROTECTOR...awesome! It was a freebie from a couple weeks ago. Good luck with your first day tomorrow...you have training, right?

Good morning, ladies. Here's the freebie list. Noreen, honey, where ARE you? I hope all is well. This first freebie is the first book in the LOVE'S GREAT WAR series. We already got books 2 and 3 as freebies, previously. As a matter of fact, I've actually read them both...remember that one that was set in Belgium during WWI?

LOVE ME AGAIN has a number of bad reviews, but it also has a couple good ones. That being said, it's usually not a good sign when a book has several negative reviews on the first page! Nevertheless, it has an overall 4 1/2 star rating. It's set in the late 1800's...America, I think.
SWEPT AWAY is the YA version, which says it has discussion questions and a lesser focus on some romantic elements...whatever that means. It says it's for ages 12-18, so I don't know what the heck it is or why it popped up in my search. Maybe I should not have included it on our list, but from the blurb it definitely is a romance. Maybe it's a fairytale like Cinderella.
SAVED BY A SIREN is a book about a second son, of a second son, who unexpectedly inherits a dukedom after returning from the Napoleonic war. He was a spy. Anyhow, don't let the cover discourage you...it is pretty, but wholly inappropriate for the storyline. Flowers?! It's a brand new book; no reviews.
THE TRELLISED LANE is another new one; no reviews.
That's it for today, ladies. TTYL

OMG, EB! You're review ROCKS!!!
Yes, I did see that Nat had listed a couple other books. I saw that this morning. I'm kinda busy right now; and to be honest I'm not sure I want to read another book for them. I never did get an acknowledgement of my message re the previous book. Besides the next contemporary I read will be Aly's book. It's a serial, which means I'll want to read them back to back...I can't stand cliffhangers. LOL I have all three of the books, so it will probably take me a couple of days to get through it.
Good luck with your first day of work. I know it's just training, but still. :-)

Oh and for a bit of a spoiler she walked out to her kitchen at one point and there is a burnt body sitting in Lisa's chair. It was very different than what we read but I liked the H. He knew what he wanted and he was good with it. He didn't dwell on the past but openly talked with the h over his loss and I liked that. LOL. You have to tell us how many books you end with when your finished filing your books. I'm going to get ready for my training class. You all have a great day and if I don't talk to all Have a Happy Thanksgiving!! And I am gloating. LMBO! Flesh out all your categories and come join me. TTYL

Glad to hear your day went well, EB. I hope they get you set up with some clients soon, and that they are all pleasant people. I'm sure you'll do great. This job sounds like it's right up your alley.
I took the kids to the movies today with a friend of my daughter's and her mother. We had a good day. It's been raining like crazy here all day, and is expected to continue into tomorrow. I wish I could just stay home and curl up with a good book. Sigh I'm reading Her Christmas Earl: A Regency Novella right now. It's a really sweet Christmas novella. You're welcome to borrow it when I'm done if you like.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! TTYL

Hey ladies, I was super surprised to receive a gift of two Kleypas novels from a fellow reader I met a while back on Amazon. It was such an unexpected and pleasant surprise, and it made me think of one thing that I am so grateful for this year. I am really thankful for having met you all. You have added a richness to my life these past several weeks. It's so nice to discuss books with fellow readers who share my taste in books. But more than that, it's nice to have people to share with and vent to about the goings on in my daily life. I hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving! Noreen, you are missed!

So Happy Thanksgiving day to one and all. I hope you all didn't eat too much and saved room for dessert. I am hanging out for a couple of hours now that I'm home and about 8pm I am heading out with my 3 nieces for Black Friday. We go out to a place called Grove City and there is no shoving or violence just expresso opportunities and lots of laughs. We usually get slap happy and have a lot of fun.
RF~ You are so right I feel the same way about all of you as well and I hope everything is okay with Noreen. She hasn't been on here in a week and I am getting worried too. Did you get the email I sent you on the new Kleypas book coming out next August? I know she's scheduled to do some period books but I'm not sure if that is one because there is no description on this one that I sent all of you. I'm sorry if you don't like receiving things like that Kate and Noreen but I got excited. Just let me know if bothers you and I will restrain myself. LOL! The price seemed high but that was a hard cover book so ebooks may be cheaper. Which 2 books did you get RF? I got all her period books except her 1st couple I read the reviews and they were said to be pretty bad. I have one of her Friday Harbor and never went any further because I was disappointed. I did have Blue-Eyed Devil on my Kindle and have read it a couple times. It's good. Never did Sugar Daddy. Smooth Talking Stranger did not impress me either. Okay well All of have a wonderful evening and please Noreen let us know your Okay.

Well I hope you have fun on your Black Friday Shopping Extravaganza. LOL You're a brave soul. I plan to do my sales shopping online. The books I got were Dreaming of You and Then Came You. I'm super excited to read them. Yes, I got the email you sent, but that turned out to be a contemporary romance. I was wondering why you had sent it, but now I understand. LOL I don't mind you sending me books to check out, promotions, etc. You never know when you'll hit pay dirt.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Mine has been great so far. TTYL

Oh yes Lawless Lilly and Derek Craven. I loved both of them. Derek's story better I loved his hard way of living getting turned upside down by a maiden who was herself knocked off her normal train of thought. Hope you enjoy! It's sad that that one is contemporary but I may still check it out when reviews come out. Hopefully they'll read more than good read.

The h is a 35 year old widower who has retained her money and has the reputation of doing whatever she likes.
The H is an Earl and military man who is shopping for a wife. He notices the h and takes an instant liking for her because he wants to marry the right woman. The H is also younger than the h and she is fighting the instant attraction. Looks good ladies.
I got in at 4am from the black Friday madness and I have to say it was the weather that was more of a pain than the shoppers. At our Grove City is a series of stores butted up against one another and so you are walking outside from shop to shop and there are a ton of shops. They had caroler's that were singing along the way. Due to the weather we were covered in snow from walking from the shops. Of course when we finished the snow had stopped. LOL
I was up by 9:30 today too. What a bone head, I know, but I just couldn't sleep any longer. Stop laughing Kate. You know every since I told you I have no problem sleeping my sleep habits changed, somewhat. LOL

Oh lord, EB. I didn't even notice that you hadn't addressed that comment to me. Actually, now that you mention it, I think I do remember that it was addressed only to Kate and Noreen, and I rightly assumed that you knew I didn't mind. I don't know why I said what I did in the comment, then. I wasn't thinking. Of course I know you didn't mean anything by it. LOL
My T Day was good. We got home about 7:30 last night. So far I've had a relaxing day. I've done a little bit of shopping online, but nothing too heavy. Monday is the big shopping day online, and even then I've found that sometimes you get better sales closer to Christmas. It just depends on what you're looking for. My little one still has a couple of things on his list, but my hubby is the one that knows what he wants, and unfortunately, he had to work today. I'll have to text him to find out, so I can check to see if there are any sales on the items.
Sounds like you had a great time shopping. That outdoor mall sounds super fun. BTW what time did you go shopping? I thought you were going this morning. You went last night until 4 a.m.???!!

I've read DUET. It's a lovely novella.
I'm sorry, but the cover for the HIGHLANDER title is absolutely ridiculous. It's looks more contemporary than anything else; perhaps even thriller-like, but it's a medieval set Scottish romance. I swear some of these authors, or whoever chooses the book cover art, simply choose what they *like* rather than what is appropriate. Ugh
SCREWING UP is a time travel romance. Modern day guy travels back in time to save his girlfriend.
SLIDING BENEATH is another time travel. Sounds almost like a thriller. The main guy is a teen? It sounds more young adult than romance, but I guess you can check it out for yourselves. I haven't read any of the reviews.
MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS does include infidelity. Thought I'd throw that out there, especially for EB. The h and H are already married. The h heard rumors that the H cheated and took steps to fix the situation. One review I read, the reviewer said that more half the book she mistakenly believed that it was a misunderstanding and that the H hadn't really cheated. She was wrong; he had. To make matters worse, apparently for a large part of the book he doesn't understand why the h is upset about his affair. Needless to say, I wont be reading this one. I hate infidelity. It works with some stories, but one the h and H are together, there's no call for it. Otherwise, how am I supposed to believe it wont happen again?
GLORIOUS COMPANIONS is a box set. It includes four books that sound a like fantasy.
That's it for today, ladies!

Ugh

Hi Kate, good to hear from you. Glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving. We did too, although I think mine was a lot more relaxing than yours. LOL
To return a book early, all you have to do is go into "manage your content and devices" webpage, click on the book you want to return and choose the "delete" option. That will remove it from your cloud and it will automatically get returned to the owner. I actually learned that one from EB. I didn't know you could return a book early, so once when a book I loaned her got returned days early, I was quite surprised and asked her what she did. Anyhow, I hope that helps.
BTW What's this about Archer being dead??????
The Nutcracker was great! My daughter LOVED it. We went to a performance by the Jose Mateo Ballet Company. It wasn't Boston, which I'm told is a phenomenal show, but it was fantastic nonetheless. My hubby and I took the two kids, and we were joined by my mother in law and one of his sisters. Good times! My son, who is 4, said it was nice, but "mostly boring!" LOL
FYI, Amazon has a bunch of Hannah Howell books on sale for $1.99, today only!

OK ladies, here are a few freebies for today. It's only a couple, unfortunately. But really, how many more books do we need? LOL
The first two are books 1 and 2, in what seems to be a 2 book series. I read the back of each and, they don't seem to be really connected. However, if you read the blurbs you will see that the hs' names are the same only switched...so the first name of one is the middle name of the other and vice versa. Super weird. I found myself wondering if the h is book 2 is the daughter of book 1, but apparently I'll have to actually READ the book to get that kind of intel. LOL Furthermore, the reviews are absolutely useless re this matter--surprise surprise!

ABBEY is apparently the inspiration for the television program, DOWNTOWN ABBEY...or so it says.
I tried to make sure that PEARL isn't one of a continuing series, but I couldn't really determine. Once again the reviews are useless in this area. They don't say, but that doesn't mean anything. In any event, the one negative review on the first page didn't say anything about that, so I'm assuming it's a stand alone.
I read TAKE MY HEART a while back. It's GOOD! Set in historical America, its about an h who travels to her twin sister's home in order to discover the truth of her death. She blames the sister's husband for her twin's apparent suicide. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story which made it unique.
DAYBREAK is super short. I read it. It's a nice read, nothing fantastic, but nice. It's set in medieval times, but I think the author needs to do a little more research into that time period. But, it's so short, that there really isn't any time to be offended by any historical inaccuracies that exist.
That GHOST title is a series, I THINK! The first review made some vague reference as to this definitely going to be a good series. No one else says anything about it though. I HATE that! Would it be so hard to mention SOMEWHERE whether or not this is a continuing series?! At least it's free. I guess you could always read the end to see if it ends in a cliffhanger. FYI, it's a contemporary novel.
WIDOW is a faith based book. It's only about 149 pages. The plot sounds pretty interesting...not original, but interesting nonetheless. LOL
That's gonna be it for today, ladies. Good luck on your first day on the job, EB! I hope they have some clients for you today. NOREEN WHERE ARE YOU?! LOL

Kate I'm sorry to hear you never received my book discovery. I really didn't know too much about it other than it was by Lisa Kleypas. Enough said there other than RF said it is a contemporary. I was hoping for a period book. I still will wit to see what kind of reviews it gets. I'll try to resend it to you.
I am also glad you liked Archer and am not sure what you mean by Archer is dead part? I have been going through some of my short reads and it's funny I get some down and like this morning replaced them with a couple new freebies.

LMAO! I had to say that. How's your filing going with all of yours? I have been gone all day because I had my first client today. I loved her she was so sweet. This is like no job that I have ever had so it's going to take some adjusting. I had to get a cellphone and so now I am learning so much at one time. I think once I have an actual schedule to go by I'll be fine because then I can be prepared for what is ahead of me. Today I just went into it and for a little bit I was losing my mind but it's all good now. :) AAHH now I'm going to read.
Hi Ladies.Sorry in Archer's Voice I meant to say when Archer left not died. Freudian slip. It's a personal bugaboo but over the years I've had two friends and a cousin who have had people in their life just 'disappear" it's devastating to those left behind. I realize it was germane to the story. But I wish he had dropped a post card. Especially at the holidays.
My cousin's son left for work one day and they didn't hear from him for three years. When Christmas and mother's day would roll around I remember she would not leave the house in case he would call. Then when he didn't she'd cry and say he must be dead he would have called if he could. Three years later he calls and tells her he was finding himself and he's in Colorado. He met a wonderful girl and the family was going to love her. Trust me at this point the only one who even loved him was his mom. The rest of the family voted for a hit man.
Congrats on your new job. Are you working with seniors. They can be a PIA. I know some of my best friends...Not to mention...myself.
I can't believe you didn't have a cel. I tried not having one but the kids kept buying me one. They keep me on a short leash. If it's a smart phone download the kindle app then you can read on it.
I got the email Elizabeth. Thanks. I've never read any of LK contemporary. Looked good. Have you ever read any Jennifer Crusie books. I liked her "Bet ME". Probably because the h had a good relationship with her sister and some really great girlfriends. I've been blessed with sisters that are my best friends a several friends that are like sisters.

It's going SLOWLY! I've been a bit busy of late to devote any real time to it, so I put in a few minutes here and there. I'm doing pretty good with it, but I can't wait for it to be done!
Good to hear that your first day of work went so well. Yes, it will definitely take you a little while to get situated in the new position, but eventually it will become a breeze. I have no doubt you're gonna love it. It sure beats hauling heavy boxes and such around, doesn't it? LOL
Anyhow, I'm exhausted. This was the day from hell. I've been fighting off a headache all afternoon. I'm gonna lie down and watch a little TV before hitting the sack. TTYL!
Never did hear back from Kate about that Archer's dead comment did we? :-)

RETURN TO SANDY CREEK is a story that covers several years. It's about the lives of new settlers in frontier Texas. From the reviews it sounds like the story covers many years. According to the first review it's "exciting." Although to be honest, it doesn't sound the least bit "exciting" to me! LOL That doesn't mean it's not a good book.
I read and reviewed TENNESSEE WALTZ. I rated it 3 1/2 stars.
I also read and reviewed PROMISE IN MID WINTER. I gave it 3 stars. My reviews for both of those titles are on the first page, so you can easily check them out if you like.
DARK INHERITANCE has one 3 star review. That person says the story is good, but she couldn't recommend the book to a serious reader because there are just too many errors. According to her she had to "hack a pathway through a host of unlikeable characters, bit my tongue at the misspelled words..." You get the idea. LOL
I never read COME BE MY LOVE, but I did read an excerpt that was at the end of another book I did read by the same author. In just that short excerpt I hated the H and decided I didn't want to read the book. The first review--which is a 3 star rating-- kindof reinforces my view that he is an ass, so I think I'm gonna pass. But there are several positive reviews.
I don't know if IN HER HEART is a romance or not. According to the blurb the h is 13. There's a mention of two young men who help her out, then they get separated. Not sure if/when they reunite or if one of them eventually becomes the H. Of course, the reviews are absolutely USELESS!
The last one TOGETHER, is a contemporary novella.
Anyhow ladies, that's it for today. TTYL

LOL! Yes I'm working with seniors I just started last week. It's funny how events that happen in our life can effect our enjoyment in what we read. I have that experience when I see the mail order bride books. I will say that I did get one on my kindle just to sample and see if it's as bad as I first thought. It's like your experience with Archer that one part was troublesome but not enough to effect your whole opinion. I just loved him.
The cell is a last resort I didn't even know how to shut the blasted thing off and yesterday I was getting texts from my job and had no clue how to send one back. LMAO! I am a child of the 80's and I know I'm one of the younger ones on here but if it ain't broke don't fix it. LOL. I have still have landline and I love it. Now I have this basic phone no fancy stuff and it's like starting all over again. I am going to check into a phone on my brothers plan and it will be unlimited minutes as well as texts and internet options. It took me until this July to get on FB. It's a process but I am slowly going in.

I don't know if Po Dixon ever comes on the free list but he has a new book out called a A Tender Moment: A Darcy and Elizabeth Short Story and it just seemed to appeal tome but my problem with just buying it are the mixed reviews and the authors lack of putting the length down. I hate when they do that or whoever does it. I don't want to spend .99 if it's crap. I've read some of his stuff and she's a bit of a gamble for me. Especially if it's something I've already read. I'll keep a look out myself but if any of you notice it on the list please let me know.
I looked at the two LK books one was a short about Win and Kev called A Hathaway Wedding and a cold-hearted rake. The first book does not interest me because I didn't care for those characters that much and the second is a mystery. I can't find it on Amazon at all. I would contact Amazon but I never did hear back when I inquired about a Moriah Densley's The Valkyrie's Guardian. They never got back with me as to whether or not they would put it on Amazon. Then I read her Starter Wife and I thought they probably won't get it just for me after my review on that book. LOL I have so many books now god only knows why I am asking for others. LOL Now I'm going to scope out the freebie list.
In Archer's there is a scene where he gets shot in the diner and the writer for a few pages tries to give the impression he is dead. She even states he was gone. But I didn't buy it because Elizabeth would have never liked this book if Archer had been killed off. I did think it was a cheap shot by the writer to manipulate feelings. Cost her a star. I read Tennessee Waltz. I remember I liked it. The writer had developed the characters and didn't stereotype everyone. Don't remember if it was 3 or 4 stars for me. I'll have to check.

It is a series and has a cliff hanger so you can't leave a review but worse I'm left hanging. Don't worry they already got their Tech team on it because someone let them know they were upset and I bitched about the Moriah Densley book as well. I was on a roll. LMAO. How is everyone we are quite scattered lately ladies. We leave a couple messages here and there but they are few and far between. I hope everyone is well.

OMG! My book is sooooo good. This mute heroine is handling the H like a maestro handles his violin! He's proposing and she's making him demonstrate his feelings for her before she'll even consider his proposal--if you can all it that--and all without saying a word! LOL
