Here are a few freebies. The first one is one I read a really long time ago, and I still have my hardcopy. It's a really cute regency and makes for an easy read.

I've read HONORABLE ENEMY. I wrote a review, and gave it 3 1/2 stars. The h and H's relationship smacked a little of Stockholm syndrome to me. LOL

NEVER RUN FROM LOVE is book four in the Kellington series. The Kellingtons are a wonderful, regency family, with four gorgeous brothers, and one feisty sister, with a sexy duke as the head of the family. His story isn't until book 5, unfortunately. That series started with NEVER A MISTRESS NO LONGER A MAID, a book I loved, but many others did not. I've read books one and two and I already own book 4 (I grabbed it a while back when Amazon was offering it for a .99 cent deal. Of course free would have been better! LOL) Anyhow, I"m still waiting on book 3 so it would have been nice had that been the book Amazon was giving away.

Oh Oh, Noreen, the MAIL ORDER bride freebie is a full-length novel...at least it's over 200 pages. So often they are just novella length, so it's nice to see a longer one for a change.

Be aware ladies, that GRANDHALL title is a serial novel. There will be no conclusion in this first installment, and I have no idea how many installments there will be, or whether they will be offered for free at some future point.

I read and reviewed DAYBREAK. It was super short, not much to it, but for a short story I rated it 4 stars. Of course, you all probably realize by now that I'm sometimes too generous with my ratings, so take it with a grain of salt. I do remember liking this one, though.

THE PROMISE was late freebie yesterday, so I'm adding it to today's list again, in case anyone missed the post where I had listed it. It's a medieval.

OMG! OMG! OMG! NOREEN, WESSINGHAM AWAITS book 5 is available for FREEEEEEEE!!! Grab it. I've owned the first four books for about a year now. I got them all for free, but I've never seen Amazon give this little baby away. I just got my copy. Get yours now too!!! YAY! The way I'm carrying on, anyone would think that I couldn't afford to pay for a $2.99 book. ROTFL

That's it for today, ladies. There are a bunch of new books that look promising. I hope you find something you like in the mix. TTYL!

Good looking out, Noreen. I actually just posted it in the freebie list. I was late today because I had to take my son on a school trip this morning, and we had to leave home extra early. I wasn't even going to do a freebie list today, but I got home much earlier than expected. Book 5! I was like WOW! LOL

You must have been posting your list as I was posting mine. Haha

Noreen~ I know I hope that sin of the flesh makes it but so far it has no hot rating. The ones that did were not my type. Did anyone else try out the link they only give you a couple chapters or enough to bait the hook. LOL They change up a lot too. Be aware of this though there is one called Tracker that is fantasy with dragons so I read it . Part way through you realize it is a gay romance and with that being said at the bottom when you open it it gives you what genre. I know it says romance but at the bottom it will give more so be sure to look there frst to get what you want.

I found a blog on a website that discusses the history of the "f" bomb. Check it out. LOL

https://solongasitswords.wordpress.co...

message 658: by kate (new)

kate | 203 comments I gather from the f bomb history that the original meaning meant to strike. So I guess when I write my book it can go something like this...

Fur god and flea guy knew this day would come. If she wolf would not make the decision they would make it for her. They stepped outside the castle walls--- looked each other in the eye and started to F one another.

Ok maybe it need a little work.

I read The Savage Curtain today. Didn't care for it. Right in the beginning it tells you the h was raped at 11 had a baby at twelve. Then it tells you her father was pimping her out at nine to pay his gambling debts. The mother marries the sister off at 9 years old to try and save her from the father. Then she goes insane. The H was great but the only way he was saving this book was if he asked for a rewrite.

The other was Cupids Enchantment. It was pretty much what you expect. I may have been a little generous with 4 stars but I don't read fantasy much. I think it need to be judged by a slightly different yardstick. It worked for me because after Savage I need something a little silly.

Kate, OMG! Thanks for the chuckles first thing this morning. I have the flu virus and am still doped up from Nyquil, so not only do I feel like crap, I'm still sleepy too. LOL

Your book is awesome!!! Flea Guy and Fur God f'ing each other! ROTFL I agree, it does need some work, but you've got time. LOL

SAVAGE CURTAIN sounds so depressing. My God, is it really necessary that the h's history be so horrible? But, I can't say I'm surprised that Ms. Le Veque has it in her to write something so dark. I read the reviews for another of her books the other day--can't remember which one now. Anyway, it was a long one, some 900 pages I think. The h and H have a long difficult, turbulent road to travel to get to their HEA. One reviewer said they get to a point where they think the H is dead, within two months the h has run off with some other dude. I can't remember most of what the review said, all I know is the reader said she couldn't read the sex scenes between the h and this other guy and I was done! I'm sorry, but once the h and H get together, I personally don't want to read about them having sex with anyone else except each other. Call me a prude, but I don't care. Needless to say, I quickly ditched the idea of reading that book. Oh, I should mention that at the time the h is swiving (Kate did you see that the blog said that swiving was the dirty word of choice to refer to sex back in time?) the h and H were MARRIED! So, you run off and have sex with another man TWO MONTHS after you're husband is supposedly dead? WTH?!

CUPID'S ENCHANTMENT and the other book in the series that we got for free, CUPID'S REVENGE, I think? Anyhow, those look like quick, light reads, with a lot of sex in it. LOL

I'm gonna go trolling for freebies now. TTYL

OK, here are the freebies!

Book two in the BRIDES OF MONTANA series is available for free today. We had book one on our list a few days ago. That was Irene's story, this one is Audrey's.

Ohhh TAKEN BY THE COWBOY sound delicious! It's a modern day h who gets thrown back in time, then finds herself arrested for a murder she didn't commit, by a hot, sexy cowboy sheriff. Sounds worth the trouble of the arrest to me. LOL

TROUBLE IN STORE is one of those books that normally cost about $10, I think, although the regular digital price is listed at $14.99, so grab it today if you think you might be interested. It does sound good. Both the h and the H believe that they have inherited a mercantile store. The H wants to get rid of the h, so he's trying to get her married off! LOL Sounds like there are a lot of interested men, but guess what? Yes, of course, the H can't find a single one who he thinks is good enough for the h. Ummm, I wonder why? LOL

FIELDS OF GOLD is about an American young man in England during the period of WWII.

I'm not sure what the collection of books is all about. The reviews, for the most part, are useless. One review did say that there were five books written by different authors, each different, but that each book has a character by the name of Anne, who gets a second chance for love.

DANCES NAKED sounds like a weird, or fun, depending on your POV, time travel historical. Not sure if there is any romance. The book blurb is woefully devoid of any useful information and you have to dig through the blasted praise to glean what little info it gives you. And don't get me started on the reviews. Useless! If any of you do manage to get any useful info about the book, I'd be interested to hear it. So far, I've decided not to download a copy for myself.

SIX SHADES OF ROMANCE is another collection of short stories, similar to the other one on our freebie list today. The books are written by different authors and the stories are stand alone, but each story has a main character by the name of Caroline who, I think, is pregnant. FYI, I don't think any of the stories included are historical, same is true of the other collection, so I don't know why they popped up in my HR search.

That's it for today, ladies. There are a couple that look really good, and I think I commented on them. Hope you find something you like! FYI, there are a few repeats on this list. I figured it's been long enough that we've been doing the list, that if anything pops up for free again, I'll add them from time to time for anyone who may have missed them in the past. TTYL

I'm liking the story we have so far and I'm thinking of a blurb. I'll post it as soon as I firm it up. LOL I love the author's name, Dick Head. Most appropriate! I'm really enjoying DRYDEN'S BRIDE so far. At least it doesn't appear that Ms. Maguire ruined this story! LOL

Savage curtain was a nightmare. The h father gave his 14 year old son to the king to be held as hostage. When the negotiations don't go well he hangs the kid in front of everyone. Then launches an attack. Breaks in the castle and orders the h to marry the commander of the troops. During the ceremony her mother is hysterical crying. Understandable. When the priest pronounce them man and wife Mom jumps into the fireplace and burns herself to death. Not to worry in a couple of days the h is in love with the H who was a nice guy but he still would have been the enemy in my book. Did I mention he has her cousin in the dungeon and is beating the crap out of him?

Noreen-I know what you mean about reaching things. My mother made me go with her to the supermarket because I could reach the top shelf. My other sisters were 5'5"and 5"6" but they would always duck out.

By the way we all envied my petite sister. She was wearing a bra at 11 and the rest of us were stuffing ours with toilet paper at 16. We would have gladly given up a couple of inches for cleavage.

I'm reading How the Marquess was Won and so far really like it. I love a story where the couple really talk to each other. It's given me a couple of laugh out loud moments.

Hey Noreen, you're welcome regarding the list. I'm glad you found a few books you wanted. I've lined up that TROUBLE IN STORE as my next read!

As for the "f" bomb history, it was actually Kate and EB who were discussing it under one or the other of their reviews on Amazon so I decided to google it. LOL And yes, when you say "I'm gonna f you up" to somebody, whose ass you're gonna kick that would be the original, correct use of the word. Hahahahahaha I was actually just discussing that with my husband last night. LOL

I'm feeling much worse this morning. I don't know how I'm sitting here. The ironic thing is that we took the kids to the clinic for their flu shots last night, so by the time I got home and remembered to take Nyquil, it was too late--it was already after 8 and if I don't take it by around 6 p.m. it makes me really groggy the next morning, unless I can sleep in, of course. Anyhow, by the time ten o'clock rolled around I knew I'd be in trouble this morning, and I was right. My throat feels like I swallowed broken glass! All I have to do is get my daughter ready and off to school with her father and then I can go back to bed if need be, because if I don't feel any better, I am keeping my son home from preschool and taking a nap!

I don't understand why SAVAGE CURTAIN had to be written so dark. I love a sad background story, I think it adds depth to the romance, but that is just too extreme! I'm disappointed because I was really looking forward to reading it.

I'm 5'4" and I've always gone ballistic if anyone even hinted that I'm short. As far as I was concerned I'm medium in height...at least for a woman. That was when I was younger; now I don't care. I'm pretty happy with my height. LOL Anyhow, I'm gonna go troll for freebies. TTYL!

Two books in the same series for free! How nice. That's MY LADY THE SPY and ENTER THE BRETHEN. FYI, looks like there are five books so far in the series. The others are available for .99 cents each. They are all stand-alone books.

BLUE LIKE ELVIS is set in the 1970's. The blurb says it's loosely based on the author's experiences while working at Baptist Memorial Hospital. There is a romance between the h and a doctor, it looks like. Seems different. Might be right up your alley, Kate.

Oh goodie, the entire LANGSTON BROTHERS series is available for free in a box set! How exciting. I've read two of those books and liked them very much. I think we've gotten a couple of the books for free in the past, but here is your opportunity to get the entire series for free, should you desire to do so!

I have the entire WEREWOLF series by Nyhs Glover. I haven't read them yet, but if it's something you think you'd be interested in, then make sure to grab book 1. No doubt the others in the series will be offered for free at some point in the not too distant future. That's how I ended up with the entire series. LOL

That's gonna be it for today, ladies. No doubt you'll notice that there are about 4 books on the list that are repeats from past lists. TTYL

I got FOG back and I was a bit confused because I wasn't sure if you'd read it as yet. LOL OK, Sunday would work for me. What time zone are you in out there? We're all east coast. I usually get home from church around 11, so we could have our session late morning or early afternoon. Let's hear what Kate and Noreen have to say. If Sunday doesn't work, I'm open for another day.

BTW I looked up "Wild." I haven't read it. You can just add it to my pile if you don't mind. LOL I have yet to make it through that entire list of books you sent. It was quite a list. I confess, it's slipped my mind lately. I'll try to get to it this weekend.

Ladies,I had a disagreement with Amazon at 2 am this morning. I was trying to post my FOG review and it wasn't allowing it to go through. It sent me an email saying it wasn't with in guidelines. I attached a photo and thought that might be the problem but it wouldn't allow me to fix it. I contacted them and the rep said it was because I didn't purchase it. This poor rep received all my frustration and he forwarded a notice to the review panel or whatever they're called because I was upset. I told him go onto the web site and look there are several reviews that do not say verified purchases. It was fixed and order has been restored in my life. LOL

I absolutely hate it when a rep has no idea of how to solve my problem, and rather than adding their lack of knowledge, and going to ask for help, they try to pawn me off with bullshit! THAT pisses me off more than anything else! I don't mind waiting until they find someone to help them. I don't mind lack of knowledge, because I understand that some people might be new and just not know any better. But pawn me off with foolishness...I don't think so! When he told me it couldn't be published because I didn't buy it I was like since when? He did do the best that he could do and told me there was someone from that department coming in a couple hours to help me. It was 2:30 at this point and I checked this morning when I got up and got it fixed. I put an image of Chris H. on there because I thought that he fit the description the author gave for Keir and that was what was preventing it on being published. I may go back and attempt to add it and see what happens.

I bet he was taken aback when you challenged with the "since when?" question. LOL The thing that I hate is that if you were someone who really didn't know better, you would have accepted his erroneous information and never posted your review. That's the problem. WTH were you doing up at 2:30 a.m.? And writing a review? BTW I did see that you didn't really care for FOG. I haven't read your review as yet, bu I have it up on another webpage. LOL My head has been pounding on and off all day. At least my throat feels a bit better. I'm a wreck. LOL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments LOL RF I confess I went on google and punched in what time zone is Ohio and a map came up that broke down all the time zones. I love Google.

Oh my god you guys my books came today the ones I won on FB and I'm going to post a picture here later so you all can see my goodies. What a magnificent surprise and I haven't really started a book so I think I'll try out Duke of Midnight first. She also sent me peppermint lip balm and a little note pad with a little thank you note. You guys really have to try out these contests you can get some nice freebies. 4 paperbacks WOW! Lets not forget about my e book too that I read already. I've also won book charms and they are cute. They have the authors book covers on them I won like 6 of them and want to make them into a bracelet. You poor dear you had a migraine not too long ago. My mouth is sealed until our talk but I did put some comments on Kate and Noreen's review. I thought I was going to be the only one who was getting annoyed but listen RF the H I loved him. I pictured Chris H as Keir while a I was reading of course I was the red head minus the sobbing. LMAO! Also go back to our Pompeii reviews there is other woman who reviewed as well and she's pretty funny.

kate | 203 comments Congrats on your win Elizabeth. I finished the Marquess book an LOVED it. I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud reading a book. The romance was on target too. I really enjoyed it thanks again.

I see the H in Duke of Midnight is Maximus Batten. We had a kid named Batten in my neighborhood. We all called him master Batten. True story.

I have to admit I'm lost. Who is Chris H?

Hope your feeling better Rf. Sunday is fine for me.

Well I'm going to hit my TBR list and pick a winner. Wish me luck.

Kate, I remember going shopping with my grandmother and my mother. All three of us were short but I was young so I could climb on the shelves and get anything they needed. lol Geez, I didn't fill out until 16/17, wonder why I got rooked on that deal?

Glad you are enjoying How the Marquess was Won. After that last one you deserve a good book.

Kate~ Wasn't Dryden's dance hilarious and all them followers. LOL From the forelock, to the cat and that ridiculous dance move. Glad you liked it. That poor neighborhood kid is probably still scared. LMAO Chris H is the god of thunder at least he rocks my world. LOL No he's the man that played Thor.

RF~ It was snowing out like a snow globe when my books arrived. The peppermint lip balm is cool too.

Noreen~ I haven't had a chance to check out the Kindle Scout page today.

Trouble in Store sounds really good to me. I just added it to my want to read list. I'm reading The Obituary Society right now and am enjoying it. Quite a bit of mystery going on that I wasn't expecting. I haven't yet figured out if the guy I like is a bad guy or if the guy she likes is a bad guy...or maybe they both are or aren't. lol Love the quirky characters though so I am in my element there. ;)

Okay...so tonight my husband and I got discussing your info on the "f" bomb. lol We were trying to figure out why it went from meaning "to strike" to meaning "the sexual act". One theory we came up with was having it attached to a rape which would have been both. Something to think about...

So sorry you are feeling worse and hope you managed to get some rest.

lol @ 5' 4"...You are tall in my book!

Yeah, I really would enjoy being able to read either story in its entirety. We just have to find a way to pimp our favorites so that they will be selected. lol

I hate it when they are clueless and trying to convince you that you are the problem. Just admit you are clueless, dude. I admit that all the time. lol Sometimes ignorance is bliss but stupidity and arrogance combined should be considered a genetic defect and eradicated in future generations. ;)

Hey EB, in order to increasing a rating on a book, you need to click on the title of your review then click the edit button. All you gotta do then is click on the actual star rating you want. Hope this helps.

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. I did take my Nyquil last night, and I do feel a tiny bit better this morning. Unfortunately, by end of day yesterday I was feeling pretty shitty, so despite my best efforts I am in the throes of a full blown cold. At least it's not the flu.

I see Kate is OK with the event taking place tomorrow at 11, how about you Noreen? Let me know. If that doesn't work for you we can easily switch the date and time, or just the time, whatever is needed.

Here's the list.

http://www.amazon.com/Flavias-Choice-...

http://www.amazon.com/Hearts-Awakenin...

http://www.amazon.com/Tanaquill-Akall...

http://www.amazon.com/Mourningtide-Bo...

http://www.amazon.com/Spirit-Walker-D...

http://www.amazon.com/Ireland-Rose-Pa...

http://www.amazon.com/Ireland-Rose-Pa...

http://www.amazon.com/Gift-Abigail-Ro...

MAIL ORDER BRIDE PHILOMENA is the third and last installment in the BRIDES OF MONTANA series. The first two books were freebies in the last few days.

IRELAND ROSE got mixed reviews. There were a couple of comments about distracting grammatical errors.

I'm not sure what ABIGAIL ROSE is about. New book; no reviews. It's set in Post Civil War America.

Same with SIREN's CALL; new book with no reviews. According to the blurb, a newly widowed lady is recalled to England, from the Caribbean in order to marry her monster of a brother-in-law. Love blossoms with the ship's Captain during the journey.

That's it for today, ladies. Sorry, but it's slim pickings. Hope you can find at least one book that you'd like. TTYL

Noreen let us know about tomorrow! And does anyone mind if we push it back to 11:30? I forgot, but my daughter's CCD class will be doing a presentation at church tomorrow and they will be having a short get together for the congregation afterwards.

No you misunderstand it didn't help with the way I wrote it. I know how to adjust my reviews I meant the books on https://kindlescout.amazon.com/ . There are a couple of books we both like but they don't seem to have that high of a rating. We want to see what happens in Sins of the Flesh and I want to check out another book that Noreen mentioned.

How are you feeling? I woke up with a stuffy nose and thought no! This crazy weather we're having. Two days ago you could go out side without a jacket and yesterday it's snowing. Just crazy.

I feel like crap. I felt better when I first got up. Sigh My wonderful hubby is taking the kids out today. They are going into Boston for some sort of Winter Sports Expo. So, I plan on going back to bed and reading. Or maybe I'll finally watch the P&P series I have taped. Ummm I'm torn.

So sorry you're not feeling well. I agree that the sudden shift in the weather is the cause. Obviously the virus is going around, lurking and waiting for the right opportunity to strike. I guess our "right time" came. I hope you have better success than I did fighting it off. Feel better.
