Girl please, the other day I discovered that Amazon is now allowing people to leave a rating for a product without writing a review at all!!! It was a few weeks ago. It asked me to leave my feedback as to whether the rating without the review was helpful. I voted no it wasn't and left a comment saying that the rating was useless to me because I had no idea why the person had rated the product the way they did. It's beyond ridiculous!

kate | 203 comments EB--I have an initial in the box also. Apparently that's what they do if you don't submit a picture. I read the review that "me" did on Outlander. I left a comment because it was a one star review. I hated Outlander myself though it is an extremely popular book. I'll let you know if there is a response.

RF--Thanks for the tip on the Fragments trio. Good deal at 99 cents. I read Beauty Bride but not the other two so I'm still ahead of the game. Dare I start Fragments tonight? It's already 9:30. If I like it I'll be up half the night. Decisions, decisions.

On the Tisdale novels I liked one and not the other. I believe Elizabeth felt the same. Let us know what you think.

Noreen Kellner | 190 comments You all are cracking me up. EB, Scissor hands? lol I like Kate's idea about a shape shifter wolf with a magic necklace. :)

EB, I finished the second book...it was awesome! I wrote my review on Amazon and then just copied and pasted it for Goodreads. Awww...I feel lucky to have you and RF and Kate to chat with about our reading. Thanks for inviting me. :) I've never read or seen Austenland but it sounds fun.

Kate, I'm a night owl too. Most times I'm up until 2 or 3. My hubby gets up at 3:30 in the morning so sometimes I just stay up until he is up rather than wake him up trying to sneak into bed with our two dogs. lol

RF, I'm going to check out Kate's review on Intimate Deception. That just doesn't sound right about those short reviews. I call Foul Play!

Okay...I've saved this in my notepad as I wrote because we lost power for a couple of hours today and I've had it flicker off twice while trying to type this. Of course I put my two hours of no electricity to good use and finished RED. :) Thanks again, EB.

Noreen Kellner | 190 comments Hey...I checked on that "me" that left the short review and several others. Most only had a few reviews to their name so maybe they just don't know any better. But I complained to Amazon about "me". 173 reviews and they were all done on October 31st and November 1st. No way that person is legit. grrrr

That makes sense about the initials filling in people profile pictures but I had to have just started. I went on google and found a picture I found and saved it in my document and then downloaded it to my profile. I really put some energy into my reviews and to have people just throw out rubbish and call it a review proves nothing to me as a potential shopper. I seen her rating was a 30% now I find it funny that anyone would vote that it helped them unless it was a friend. How does "nice read" give you enough information to help you decide rather or not to buy a book. Paleese.

I wonder if that is why Amazon stopped letting the same people continue to give you votes. It would make sense. HHMMMM I bet you I'm on to something with that thought.

Noreen~ I started copying and pasting my reviews n her and Amazon too it makes it so much easier. I also watched the rest of Death Comes to Pemberely and I have to say with the exception of poor casting it was a good movie. The lady they got to play Catherine Debourg was hysterical. I loved her.

She shows up at Pemberely being her normal over opinionated self an tells Lizzy that she gave advice to a relative on their death bed. She says she told them to decide whether they were going to live or die and get on with it because it was awful selfish of them to keep everyone waiting. I lost it.

The lady made the most convincing lady Catherine. Darcy grew on me too. He was no Colin Firth believe me but by the end I did like him and Lizzy. She still looked older than Mrs. Reynolds to me but I was willing to look passed that because the story was good.

In fact I want to get the book to see if I like it even better. Some of the people on Amazon complained that Lizzy spent most of her time in the house uninvolved but that's not what I saw. Yes she was in the house but she is the lady of the house her job was to ensure the running of the house.

What I truly enjoyed though was how the two grew stronger as a couple and weren't afraid to show it in front of Georgiana, in an affectionate way not perverted. Colonel Fitzwilliam was a prick but finally did the right thing in the end. The book is usually better so I want to see if that is true because I could totally see myself watching the movie again.

I'm going to go read your review. I checked earlier and saw I jumped the gun. I usually keep the book open when I do my reviews because sometimes my mind goes blank when I start typing so I use it to double check myself. Unless I remember to write them down as I read.

Oh wow Noreen I didn't even notice the dates. That is crazy. One of the girls we run into from Amazon named Lark told me about a couple months back and I really hadn't seen it at the time but within the last couple days I've seen more and more. Maybe they're hacking into it so that it goes through for tem but I think by reporting it that Amazon has to look at it and realize that they got a problem and address it. Maybe I'm just over reacting but it ticks me off.

kate | 203 comments Noreen--I see you lost power. We lost it but only for about an hour. After hurricane Sandy we were without it for two weeks. I think that's why I like that 77 Days in September book so much. It's about the entire grid system collapsing. Scary how dependent we are on outside utilities. If I were younger I would try to learn to live off the grid.

they showed Miss Young and as it turns out she was George Wickham's sister. I thought that was an interesting twist. My dad recorded it for me so I have a copy of it. I never thought to check that so now I'm curious.

You're welcome, Kate! I hope you enjoy it. I'm loving LADY BORN even more than I did FRAGMENTS, although it's so different. At least so far it is. About a 1/4 of the way in the couple marry and now the story has jumped ahead four years. The first four years they live happily at her family's castle which is still under the control of the H's liege lord. The H just received word that his grandfather has died, and he's now the new Baron. So, they are moving to his family's estate. They have two young children and are very happy. I think this is where the story will start to get exciting with fighting and intrigue. Up until now it's been all about the romance, which is sweet. Yes, she had a baby from the bastard that raped her.

Can I say that one of the things that really comes out in this book is people's attitudes towards rape victims back then. The H is pious as all get out. He condemns people who don't travel the straight and narrow with the church and has his own strict moral code. Normally, he would have nothing to do with a unchaste woman--this includes a rape victim! Rape victims were soiled women--no fault of their own, but soiled nonetheless. This is not just the H's attitude, but society's in general. Once the h lost her virtue she was longer pure and had no marital prospects. Poor thing. It's even worse for our h because she's pregnant. When the H married the h, his men/best friends were in shock because it is so out of character for him. The H tells the h that maybe God sent her to him to teach him a lesson, that he shouldn't be so unbending. He was surprised by his own reaction to learning the h was raped. He knew that normally, although he would be sympathetic towards the woman, his interest would be killed. But in this instance, all he wants to do is protect the h. He never once blamed the h for what happened to her. It's a fantastic story so far.

BTW the H's rigid moral code has to do with his family history. His mother left her father for his grandfather--can you believe--which resulted in his father committing suicide--the worst sin there is. That put a stain on the family honor. This all happened when the H was 6. He has spent his entire life working to reinstate the family's honor, which is why he's so rigid. I love him!

I'll let you know what I think of the Tisdale novels--assuming I ever get around to reading them. LOL

You had storms too, huh Noreen. We had two this weekend, back to back. I couldn't say where one ended and the other begun. It even snowed some yesterday, although we don't have any accumulation where I live. We lost power too a couple of times, but luckily each time was for only a short period.

Yes, I hear what you all are saying about the reviews. But honestly, that is Amazon's fault. They so want to encourage people to write reviews that they are even now allowing them to rate products without writing a review. It's exactly what GR does with the books--you know we're allowed to rate a book without a review.

I don't like it in the least. When I noticed it a few weeks ago I was surprised. I think Amazon may have been just trying it out because a survey popped up and asked my opinion about the rating without a review. I said I hated it, and that it was useless. I should note that this was for a product, not a book--although I guess a book is a product too. LOL

FYI I'm gonna check out your review.

EB, I hear you about the reviews. I take time with my reviews and I appreciate others who do the same. I don't understand either, why someone would waste their time to leave a review that says "great read." What the heck is that? I remember when Amazon would require a twenty word minimum for any review--at least i think it was twenty words. The point is that they required that you say more than just two or three words. Otherwise, I say, don't bother! It's a trend I've noticed lately--lots of reviews with two or three words to them. It's a recent thing.

BTW I taped both parts of Death Comes to Pemberely. Thanks for the reminder yesterday.

No freebie list this morning, ladies. I am so completely aggravated! My husband just went to put the new stickers on our tags, only to discover that there is no sticker for my car! Now I have to go to the freaking DMV (or RMV as they call it in this stupid state). WTF?!! My aggravation is two fold, I told my blasted husband WEEKS AGO to put the stickers on the cars. I gave him the envelops. I told him again this weekend because our tags expired the end of October. I reminded him AGAIN this morning because, well now we're in NOVEMBER! Now he comes to tell me there is no sticker. I had to take a deep breath and remind myself I was an adult. Now I have to waste MY blasted time and I have to do it TODAY! And of course, I'm aggravated at the flipping RMV. God knows if they'll give me a sticker. People steals those damn things just to avoid paying to register their cars. Maybe I'll post a list later if I have time. Sorry!

RF~ You take care of your tags. My husband is a procrastinator and is very good for saying yea I'll get it and than when you follow up...oops I forgot. I hate that and your better than me because my hubby would have got an ear full. All the way there and all the way back.

We got snow a little snow too on Saturday. Not much it kind of looked like hail. BTW the fall behind event on FB was not that great. It was hard to follow and in order to win a $50 gift card you needed to post a selfie with you and your favorite books. I have no cell phone so I took a pic I had saved from my Halloween party and used book images I had saved also and made a collage. The authors came in randomly and I just wasn't in the mood to stay glued to my computer. Naughty Girls had a contest too. It was a disappointment. So you didn't miss much Noreen.

I also attempted to go on storycartel and it won't allow me to log in. I created a profile and I did the email confirmation and I can't log in so I contacted them and they should be getting back with me. Aly or one of the ladies from Naughty Girls contacted me and said they don't normally get Historicals but she understands how I feel. I can't read contemporaries consistently or I'll tear it apart unjustly because I won't be happy. :(

I'm going to go check out the lady born it sounds really good. Have any of you ever read The Duke? I know you didn't RF, but it is about a woman who is raped and becomes the mistress of the duke only he never utilizes her. The one time they come close she has flashbacks of her rape and freaks out. He misinterprets it and they have a blow out. When she confesses what happens he consoles her and than finds her rapist and beats the hell out of him and puts him on a ship off the continent. Man I loved that part of the book but because of his station he couldn't marry her. They both love one another and makes it sound like they're going to get together until he talks about needing to have children for his heir with someone else. It was sad but happy to say that the ending is happy and so romantic.****SPOILER

He finds her in a theatre and rides his horse in there and has her climb on his horse breaking propriety and of course offers to be her knight and husband. In the later books in the series you continue to see them and how protective he is over her.

Ya I hear you. I'm supposed to be getting a paranormal from them soon. Lori said she'd contact the author to let her know that she found someone to read her book. Hopefully, I wont regret it. LOL

I'm gonna get ready to get out of here in a little while. I have to take my son to preschool first then go to the RMV. Hopefully, I wont be there all morning. I wanted to yell at my husband so badly, but I guess deep down I thought it was partially my fault too. When I got the tags from the RMV I only opened one envelop saw what it was and assumed the other stick for my car would be in the other envelop. Whoever heard of the RMV screwing up THAT badly! I mean govt agencies screw up all the time, but how hard is it to put a sticker in an envelop?

I've found a silver lining in the whole debacle though, now I get to sit on my ass and read all morning!...at least until I get through at the RMV. I"m sure I'm in for a wait. The most important thing I had to do this morning was pay household and I've gotten that done, so now I'm free. Anything else I had to do can wait until later or another day. I just really hope I'm not there all morning, but if I am then I guess I'll just go straight and get my son from school. He's only there from 9 to 11:45. TTYL

They left me a message on FB and I won an ebook and get this Meredith Duran's Fool Me Twice, Elizabeth Hoyt's Duke Of Midnight, Eileen Dryer's Onc a Rake and a signed copy of Lecia Corwall's Secret Lie Of Lady Julia. The way it was written I won all of them. Don't worry because I am a firm believer in Karma so when I am finished reading tem if I don't want to keep them I will share. Elizabeth Hoyt I might want to keep I'm not sure because the series shes been doing has run it's course but you never know. Meredith Duran I've read but wasn't impressed but Eloise James surprised me with Madam X. The others I've never read and the ebook is a mystery too. Just think if all of had been on there...we'd have cleaned up. Seriously I probably only spent an hour on there total. I posted and commented and checked back periodically that was it.

So I went to the RMV. I walked in and went to check in at customer service. I told the lady that I had received my new registration, but no sticker. She says "no problem. I'll give you a 16." She then opened a drawer that had a ton of '16 stickers grabbed one and handed it to me. I reached into my bag to take out my registration, thinking that she'd want to see it. She says "you just renewed, right?" I said "yes" to which she responded "I believe you." And that, was that! The entire process took less than a minute! LOL

I did pray about it before I left this morning. My big issue was whether or not they'd actually give me another sticker. I found the silver lining in that at least I'd have gotten to read while I waited. Turns out there was no wait and I got my sticker.

Unfortunately, now that I'm home, I have things to do and no excuse not to do them. Sigh

Vampirate, were you up all night? Did you start FRAGMENTS?

I'm still loving TO THE LADY. It's so sad though. The author is really good with the medieval period and making things realistic, which means that not everything is nice and neat. For instance, I'm torn up about how rape victims must've suffered back then. There's a certain amount of shame and embarrassment for rape victims today, even though they have all sorts of support. Can you imagine how it must've been back then? 1000 times worst, I'm sure.

In my book, my h would rather kill herself than live with the shame of having a bastard child, while the rapist gets away scot free. As a matter of fact, after her raped her he bragged to all his men about it. That's what prompted the young soldier to hide her and then he wrote to their liege lord and told him what happened, which prompted the replacement of the bastard as commander. It's so sad. She's happily married now though, but I'm sure for most women back then, once they were raped their lives, for all intents and purposes, were over.

That's it for today ladies. Noreen, here's the long awaited book 3 of the WESSINGHAM series, make sure you grab it!

The DUKE AND SPINSTER title is one that I read. I only gave it 2 stars. It was waaaaay too modern. This author has a problem in that area. Her ideas are pretty good, but the execution of her stories are lacking, because it's so obvious she's not familiar with the time period in which she sets her books. Quite frankly, I'm insulted as a reader, that she doesn't seem to care enough to put in the time to research the period. I included it because I didn't know if anyone would be interested in reading it. My review is one of the first ones listed under the title, so you can check it before making your decision.

kate | 203 comments Up all night reading Fragments. New author for me and I loved her style. Well paced story with people that for the most part could communicate with each other. I definitely will read another. Think I'll pass on Lady Born though. The rape/suicide thing seems a little dark. Back in the day if a woman became pregnant from rape it was believed she enjoyed it. You know men started that tale.

On Bookbub.com they had a free amazon book. One Thousand Porches about a Doctor trying to fight TB in a sanitarium in upstate New York over 100 years ago. Looked interesting.

Hey EB, yes I'm still reading it. No, it's not sad, it just made me think. I got really sad about how depressed and ashamed the h felt. It also made me sad that, although all the men acknowledged that the knight who raped her was an animal, yet still, they all viewed her as soiled when it came to her being an acceptable bride....not that that happens in the book, but the thinking of the time is made clear by the author. The author certainly knows the medieval period. The sad part of the story isn't laid on too thick, nor does it last very long. They were happily married just around 30% into the story.

You're welcome to borrow it when I'm done. That should be around some time tomorrow, I would think. Let me know. Where are you in the book you're reading?

Hey Kate, don't be fooled by the LADY BORN synopsis. It's true she's raped, right there in chapter one. Then she has to deal with it. But it's not laid on thick at all. The story is thought provoking though. It made me think about how women really had it bad back then. By 30% in they are happily married and the h certainly wasn't running around depressed the entire time up to then. A little after they marry the story skips ahead 4 years, when they have to face other challenges. I'm sure there's to be a showdown between the H and the rapist at some point. But, if you don't wanna read it, I can certainly understand that. It certainly made me think about the realities of that time period. The author does have a wonderful style...her stories are realistic, the good, the bad, and the ugly. LOL

Did you get the book on Bookbub? It certainly does sound interesting.

No I thought the energy you felt from your review was loud and proud. You phrased things very neatly so I give you credit for that. I wrote my review several times. I stopped and started. I kept deleting because didn't like how tings sounded. I don't know it was a lot of reasons I refused to read anything from them right now because I didn't get my normal inspired feelings. I sent them a review and I still don't know if I'm happy with it especially after reading yours. I don't know what she's going to say because I am probably harder on myself then ay one else could possibly be. I tried to stay up beat and bubbly and at this point I can't remember what I wrote.

I will still read Lady Born after I'm finished. Hopefully tomorrow.

We are always our own hardest critic, I think. I'm sure you're review was great. I hear what you're saying about not reading another book for them right now...I have the paranormal one that I volunteered for. I haven't heard back from Lori as yet. She was supposed to contact the author to let her know, then they have to give me the author's email address so she can send me the book directly to my kindle email address. Before she can do that, though, I have to add her email address to my approved list. I think that in order to safeguard against pirating, authors prefer to send the e-books directly to the devices. It's probably to big to attach to an email from the device to send out and you can't loan it out, so that prevents readers from sharing their work without compensation.

OK, I'll keep reading LADY tonight. I have a CCD meeting tonight at church from 6:30 to 8:30. That's gonna end up messing up with some of my reading time.

It was pretty easy to write because I really liked the book. It's the ones that I'm on the fence about that are the hardest to write.

BTW did you grab freebies from the list?

I did get some freebies thanks. I just couldn't seem to get the right flow with my review like I did when I wrote The Key and others. I liked it but I wasn't passionate in expressing it. I tried to put the pros and cons and it came off rather negative and blah to me. It is what it is. That being said I decided I needed to read something that brought that excitement out when I do my reviews. I wish they did more of a variety. I'm curious to see what is said because when I did my review I mentioned I got the book for an honest review.

I actually left a message on the FB IM telling them that I too prefer historical romances to contemporary. I usually read one about every month or so. I have liked the few paranormal romances I've read, most of which have been historical, with one or two contemporary. We'll just have to wait and see. If I'm not in the mood, I just wont volunteer.

That is the direction I'm headed in. When I was talking with Nat your chat with Lori popped up at the same time you were talking about the paranormal. I added to the your conversation but you must have left. I think after reading the Key my mood is different and I didn't realize until I did my review. Okay just talking a breath b4 heading back to my book which is a modern but my scot vibe is there ad they are all these giant oaf types who have raging hormones. LOL

Oh ya, I just went back now and checked and saw your comments. LOL I'm usually off FB unless i"m doing something on it. LOL

Sounds like you're liking your book. I didn't get much reading done today. Had a meeting a church that lasted until 9 p.m. I'm exhausted. I think I'm gonna try to read for a little bit before I go to bed though. I'd really like to finish this book. I wanna see what happens.

I am really getting a good chuckle out of these knuckle heads. Angus was yelling at the DR. that the h was doing PVC on the H and the other Scots are saying you mean CPR? LMAO! It's pretty funny. I got a ways to go so I'm in for a long night I fear. LOL

So, I'm still reading my book TO THE LADY BORN. It's great, but so unusual. The couple falls in love and gets married pretty early in the book and then we see them a few months later around the time of their first baby (rapist's offspring) is born, then it jumps ahead four years later, when the H receives word that his grandfather has died and he is now the new baron. The family has traveled back to his family's seat where the H will once again have to face the mother that he hates--there's some messed up family history there. I'm not sure what happens next, but I'm now at 60% so I assume that we'll see some action soon...by action I mean sword fighting or some kind of drama. I really like it; and I love the fact that this author isn't afraid to try something a little different. But, OMG, I do wish they'd get the blasted books edited!

Oh no. My book has an author that doesn't use apostrophe's. You are reading along and the word shed is thrown in a sentence and it takes a few minutes for you to realize she meant she'd. The H is after revenge and his plans are to take ownership of Falgannon Isle. The h grandfather wronged the H and she doesn't know it but now he is developing for her. The thing that annoys me about this book is the constant reference to cats. These cats are always under foot. It's like a story about the cats instead of the H/h. There biting him at times ad clawing. No book is ever perfect. I hate books that jump around. It feels too thin if the author jumps ahead and makes you feel like you've missed too much. Let me work on mine some more and than I'll let you know about the Lady Born.

I hate when books focus on things other than the romance, like cats, dogs, kids, etc. I don't care how cute they are! LOL Le Veque's books are great, but the kindle editions do need editing. I've gotten used to the missing odd word such as, the, a, an, of, and other words like that. There were two instances in FRAGMENTS that were very confusing. Once the wrong character's name was used. I had to go back and reread the passage because it confused when. I realized after I reread it, that the author had made a mistake with the name. Another time a message was sent to the H after a missive was sent to his home. At first the messenger tells the H he's been traveling for seven days and then later he tells the H the missive arrived four days ago. I'm like if the messenger left when the missive arrived, then it had to have arrived seven days ago, not four! LOL You can figure out the mistakes, but they made me do a double take.

The skipping ahead on the H and h's story didn't really bother me. When they first marry they take you through the consummation then they skip ahead a few months to a couple of days before her baby was born. Once the child is born they skip ahead four years. It's pretty obvious that nothing of significance happens during the time has past, except that the couple's relationship has gotten stronger. I don't usually like skipping around either, but I was ok with it in this instance. Now that we're four years in there is no more skipping.

I was thinking that maybe our next event could be FRAGMENTS OF GRACE. I've read it and so has Kate. I know you said you wanted to read it. Maybe we can convince Noreen to read it too? LOL

I haven't hear from Noreen since Sunday. I'm thinking her power ma be out. Her lights were flickering so she may not have cable connection. That where she said she has her internet through. :(

Okay tat skipping around don't sound bad but I have read books where he kids are suddenly 10-11 years old and it feels like you've missed too much. I do like it when an author shows you that through time they have become stronger. My book is blah!

I like the couple but his secret is going to come out soon and I just want it over. Some of the things going on in the story just aren't holding my interest. There are these women who are trying to come on the Isle by parachute, hot air balloon, jet ski because they want these scots to use as boy toys. The scots are open to the idea of course but the B.A. won't allow it. That is kind of funny but the way the author writes at times totally confuses me. Then I find my mind has wondered because I'm bored. I want to see how I ends but it's a rough ride.

A new event sounds great my only thought is if Kate has the book maybe she could loan it to Noreen so she doesn't have to buy it and think she would be open to it. I will give you the pleasure of organizing Miss Party Planner. LMAO! I'll read FOG next.

Hahahaha Your comment made me LOL. You are borderline ranting about your book. LOL I know what you mean though. When you're reading a book, that's not terrible, but isn't quite doing it for you, you just want it to be OVER!

OK I'm throwing it out there re FRAGMENTS OF GRACE...everyone down for an event regarding that title? Kate I know you read it. What about you Noreen? Maybe you would be willing to loan Noreen your book, Kate? I'm lending mine to EB. Also, ladies, be aware that FRAGMENTS is included in one of those three book collections that's available for .99 cents. That's a great deal! I'm just throwing it out there. Here's the link in case you're interested.

Noreen let us know if that is something you would be interested in reading. EB is definitely on board. Kate and I are done. No pressure. If not this book, then I'm sure we'll find another one soon. LOL

I think I remember reading that Noreen said it's on her TBR. I am still waiting for the bank to et their shit together. When you sent your review into Naughty Girls did they let you know if they liked it or when they would print it?
