My characters name is D'Ray from the book "A Life For A LIfe". D'Ray starts the book as a 15 year old black male who is growing up in the projects of Luisiana. As the book goes on he commits a crime and is on the run until he gets caught. He spends the next six years in a juvinial detention center until his twenty-first birthday. While he's in jail he is vistied by the father of the boy he murdered who's name is Mr. Henery. During this time Mr. Henery corrects D'Ray and makes D'Ray feel sorry for taking his son's life. D'Ray grows fond of Mr. Henery and even starts to look at him as his own father. With the support of Mr. Henery, D'Ray goes back to college and even graduates from college.

D'Ray in a way does remind me of myself, because he was given a second chance at life. I was given a second chance when I decided to leave Illinois and move to New York and go back to school. I can relate D'Ray's life on the run to my life back in Illinois. I am not saying I committed crimes or murdered anyone like D'Ray did but my life was not on the right track and was going no where if I never got the help I needed by moving to New York and getting the support from my uncle which reminds me of the support Mr. Henery is for D'Ray.

D'Ray indeed did wrong by killing a young man, but also corrected this mistake by living for the boy he killed.

If you were in D'Rays shoes would you have turned your life around and lived for the boy you killed if the father came into your life and made you feel the pain of losing your child?

To answer your question Yes, I would because committing murder is no joke. Living with the consequence's of imprisonment can be overwhelming when their is no one in your corner. In all honesty changing your life style is hard but, is even harder without the help. So having a support system like Mr. Henry I would take my opportunity at a fresh start.

I agree with what Vanessa said. I think I would also take the opportunity that Mr.Henry is giving D'Ray. A second chance to turn his life around for a better person .
