I am new zombies too. I am currently reading a horror anthology of short stories and I have found several writers I like and will probably keep reading. So far, quite a few of the stories (nearly all) are about zombies and some have a very unique approach. It is $2.99 on Amazon but the proceeds go to charity and there are like 17 authors (17 short stories). Maybe this can help you find a few authors you like.

Jonathan Maberry has some great zombie books. My favorites are the "ghost road blues" trilogy. "Dead mans song" is bk 2 and "bad moon rising" is bk 3
