Space Opera Fans ... anybody else read up this far in the series?
Sorry I am pretty new to space opera. Therefore I haven't commented much in this group because I have yet to read the fathers/mothers of the genre. However I'm hoping to read Old Man's War this month. Also Anna I like you name "Borg Queen". Trekkie?
The Human Division are a series of stories set after the events in The Last Colony/Zoe's Tale. It is more a continuation of the previous four in the series rather than the start of a new one (have only read about half of this so far).

Captain Jean-Luc Picard: And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.
not trying to be too off topic but Ive only seen the two new star trek movies and then Wrath of Khan.

I've been wanting to rewatch TNG and finally watch Enterprise.Packi, I agree with you. First Contact is definitely the best movie.

Our SERIES PICK for October is Book 5 of the Old Man's War series, The Human Division by John Scalzi.
"The people of Earth now know that the human Colonial Union has kept them ignorant of the dangerous universe around them. For generations the CU had defended humanity against hostile aliens, deliberately keeping Earth an ignorant backwater and a source of military recruits. Now the CU’s secrets are known to all. Other alien races have come on the scene and formed a new alliance—an alliance against the Colonial Union. And they’ve invited the people of Earth to join them. For a shaken and betrayed Earth, the choice isn't obvious or easy.
Against such possibilities, managing the survival of the Colonial Union won’t be easy, either. It will take diplomatic finesse, political cunning…and a brilliant “B Team,” centered on the resourceful Lieutenant Harry Wilson, that can be deployed to deal with the unpredictable and unexpected things the universe throws at you when you’re struggling to preserve the unity of the human race."
