Knee-jerk "pulled me out" sentence in chapter one:

"Best of all, though, the sun-dappled attic upstairs was wall-to-wall books."

I get a little obsessive with books (I've got my own wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling library rooms, with air-conditioning [even in the winter], dehumidifiers, and temperature/humidity gauges; I buy digital and physical copies of the same book, etc.), so reading the above (ignoring the useless use of "above", as if attics could be anywhere else) sent me all atwitter.

Books? In a hot and dusty attic? With the sun discoloring the books even more?

I'm also a bit surprised that Tish, as someone who finds "heaven" in a roomful of books (I do too!), didn't think the book she pulled the locket from might have any significance to the locket itself.

Sorry all - didn't know there was an set-in-stone way for book discussions. One of Felicia's posts in April suggested that members should "feel free to post LOTS of threads about the monthly books", with nary a mention of an "official" one :(

Yes totally post anything you want about the monthly books, I'm not the thread police or anything, I just thought this thread was specifically about the first chapter and Tish ignoring the book she pulled the locket from, and possibly even the proper care of books since you seem to know a lot about how to preserve them. Hence why I went ahead to make the general discussion thread for the book. Wasn't trying to make you feel bad or anything, I was just confused. <3

It's not a problem, Morbus. There's usually one main thread and then others pop up for side discussions. It is helpful to put the title of the book in the topic though. Like WatC for Wicked as they Come or KoS for Kiss of Steel.
