I was grateful for Susan’s comment about the Lausanne “border crossing”. For me, just a sniff of fabrication in a work of non-fiction makes the story fall apart. Obviously, it didn’t stop her or a number of others from enjoying this.

Of those who have read this, does the rest of the book ring true? I’m familiar with the light touch Peter Mayle employed and loved it, as I only read about “his” Provence after experiencing it myself. Are these folks really facing these madcap follies or is it mostly the stuff of invention? Many thanks!
