Juan Duran I was originally reading this book for a summer assignment, but after completing the book I feel that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I was recommended this book by an employee at Half Price Books and I thank her for recommending one of the best books I have ever read. To Kill a Mockingbird had a little bit of everything for everyone. The book is set in Maycomb a little town in Alabama that was hit especially hard by The Great Depression. When Tom Robinson a black man accused of raping a white woman named Mayellathe small town is split between traditional culture and what is morally right. While reading the book you will see the town from the perspective of Scout Finch a young girl who has little understanding of the real world. The book contains a little bit of mystery with the mysterious character of Boo Radley. As the book progresses you will learn many valuable lessons that help Scout grow up. To Kill a Mockingbird is a book I recommend everyone should read in their lifetime. This book has unsuspecting events that keep you hooked until flipping the last page and realizing the book has sadly finished. The book has many valuable lessons that a teenager should learn such as the world is not as nice as it may seem. The only complaint I have about To Kill a Mockingbird is there may be too many lessons that can leave a reader confused. To get a full understanding of the book I recommend you to read the book at least twice if not more. Another complaint I have is that the book may become a little outdated because some people may not understand the old time southern slang. All this being said there is a reason To Kill a Mockingbird is an American classic.
