Yes, I noticed that this weekend as well. The copy in my library is checked out so I picked up the audiobook from my public library. But I was bummed I wouldn't get to see the art until my copy was returned so I went to the website. That seems like a VERY short time to me as well for a project that's clearly ongoing. I can't imagine what the reasoning would be.
We got a response! I sent the question to the author through the website and got an answer back which I've posted on the S&L Kids website:

Yes, I can see how people would underestimate how much it cost to keep something like that up. Still is a shame, though -- I hope new editions have the link taken out.
And for those who have already read the book or have already started, then you can probably tell that I chose a topic that can have dual meanings.
But my initial comment is this...I was actually quite interested in the "Augmented Reality" offering that the book touts quite blatantly, and seems to require a bit of webcam manipulation to get working.
But I went to WondLa.com and discovered, much to my chagrin, that "WONDLA-VISION HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED." I get that these things progress, but the final book of the trilogy was just published 5 months ago. Is it so unbelievable that people might just be getting to read the first book now? I would have thought the life cycle of the "AR" feature was a bit longer than 2 years. (The 2nd book also had an AR feature which is also deactivated.)
