Finding Nouf: A Novel is actually the first in the series, and I thought it was pretty good - enough so that I've purchased City of Veils: A Novel

I read The Witch of Portobello and I know it took place in several locations but I forgot to note them I seem to remember Scotland, Romania and Dubai (does it even count? I'd never heard of it before) Does anyone know for sure what the locations are?

I have not read the book, so I'm not sure of the locations. Any one country where a significant portion of the book takes place would count. Dubai is a city in United Arab Emirates.

Quick question--I read Valerio Massimo Manfredi's The Lost Army, which in 4th century BC takes place in Syria. In modern days, most of the book takes place in Turkey. Can I claim it as either of the two countries, or should I lean towards the modern/ancient country definitions?

I've been hunting for books in European countries and I think I've found a few that haven't been mentioned in this thread. I'm not 100% certain they qualify as far as location and book length, though.

Set in 1600's Italy, The Dragon's Clause, is about the city of San Marino’s bargain with a dragon and how forgetfulness can lead to destruction.

It's available for Kindle or download. I don't think it's long enough to qualify for the challenge, though. :(

I was in a book shop today and saw Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal by Conor Grennan. I think it will do for Nepal (reading the description...) and I hope to read it when I get there on my journey!

I haven't read it but the goodreads summary says, "Deep in the rain forests of Mexico..." And on bookssetin.com, it's listed under Mexico. HTH.
