Abby Jane The Host is a fascinating science fiction book. I loved the story line, the characters, and the love triangle. I have not seen the movie yet but I am going to. Sometimes I got confused on who was talking and who was saying what. It switched around a lot. I did like the book though because I am very interested in action/adventure and a little bit of romance. This book was hard for me to set down and I loved it!

Lorraine Resendiz It's been a while since I have read the book. But I loved it. The movie was also good.

Amphitrite I know right it almost matched to the book completely although I wish they added Sunny

Sara The Host is Wonderful!!!

Courtney The book is so amazing that I had to watch the movie but the movie disappointed me. I didn't have a lot of the amazing Wanda-Ian moments.

Jennifer I wanted to love this book, I really did, but I just didn't. I started and stopped it three times and gave up. I believe around page 200 was the farthest I made it. I did see the movie though, didn't really like that either. I need to fall in love with characters, these seemed lifeless to me, no depth. Maybe I will try again at some point in the future.

Iris The book is eh to the max. The movie is both better and worse. Better because it's shorter than reading the 600 page snorefest, and worse because all of the little things in the book that were actually interesting or cute were left out of the movie. So pick your poison.

Nathan Dunahoo I really liked this book, although the ending could've been better.

Niranjana A very good book!! A very unique story...but the beginning was boring. I almost gave up after 100 pages but I kept going...It gets interesting after 200 pages or so...and then it was really hard to stop!! It was very interesting!! One of my favourites!! But quite disappointed by the movie because it did not cover all the parts of the book and some of them were important too...

Kierra Boykin oh this book... where do I even start? Well I picked it up because everyone and their mother told me it was amazing (and my naïve mind trusted them) and they also gave me the warning that it takes till about 100 pages in to get interesting. 100 came and went and it never got better. This book was so boring it hurt. Also the whole point of this book is that you feel for the humans and I just didn't. A book where they sit in a cave for the entire novel needs some killer character development to keep it interesting but all character development that happened in this book was obvious. Nothing about this book surprised me or kept my interest. I'm pretty sure the only reason I finished this book was so that way people couldn't say I hated it because I didn't finish it. My apologies to those of you that love this book that I've offended but I just hated this damn book.

I'll admit that the first couple of chapters of the book were really slow, but it really was amazing in the end half.

Kevin I caught its movie version on Netflix for 5 mins towards the end which led me to read the book. The concept is interesting but the book feels a bit flat and repetitive at time, and probably 50% too long. It got better closer to the end, but it took way to long to develop characters and story line that I lost interest in them before half way into the book. I just wanted to know how it ended. I can see why the movie was a flop as would be pretty difficult to depict all the internal dialogues on screen. Even the book couldn't highlight enough the two-minds-in-one-body conflict, which was supposed to be the main theme of the book. I may give the movie a try if I run out of stuff to watch.

Aaysha Karim I like this book very much. Was in trouble when started reading the first chapters, and afterwards i can't stop reading it. The characters, their feelings, their life everything was more than amazing. But the film was too bad for me, it lacked everything i feel in the novel.

Susan Porter I liked this book enough to read it a second time. Yes, it was a very slow start and the first time through, I was really confused with what was happening and I had to reread a lot. The thing that I loved about this book and Stephenie's writing is that she is so good at capturing that torn feeling that her main characters go through. The movie was a disappointment, but it could have been worse.

MaryAnn I saw the movie, fell in love with the concept (and also the cute guys) and decided to read the book, because if the movie was pretty good than the book must be awesome, right?
Yes, there were a few moments where I wished the plot would hurry along, but most of the book I really enjoyed.

Kelsi martin I watched the movie before I had read the book so everything they left out I guess just didn't irritate me as much and I was easy to forgive because while they left really good parts out of the movie I still thought it was a good adaption I almost couldn't believe Stephenie Meyer actually wrote it, just because while it may have been similar to twilight ( and by that I mean the age difference, one person isn't human in the relationship, romantic partner lives longer than significant other, and the sort of love triangle) The atmosphere in the story was very different, to me it felt fresh like the first in its genre and I had a blast reading it, plus the movie I thought did a great job at bringing the characters to life and giving them a face (even if they left some characters out).

Courtney The Host is hands-down my favourite, and when I watched the movie I was so very disappointed because there was so man things that the movie missed. Like the part when Ian found out about Wanda leaving. Or when Ian's brother (I forget his name - was it Chris?) constantly trying to get rid of Wanda. In the movie, Jared was protective over Melanie/Wanda, whereas in the book he wasn't anything like that. Or the fact that in the morive they said that Melanie and Jamie's father committed suicide rather than be captured, whereas in the book their father was captured, inhabitedand then leading them to his family.

If you have read the book and not watched the movie then I would suggest not watvhing the movie - that is if you want to avoid major disappointment.
