Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 24 comments I need to input illustrations into my book, and on D2D's 'pocket guide to ebook', they've advised the images are centred. Because of the way they are illustrated, there are some images I would have preferred to be right or left justified, with text around it. Does anyone have any insight into what could go wrong if I went against D2D's preferred option?

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 195 comments I publish with D2D, but I don't use illustrations or images inside the books. So I can't give you a direct answer.

But to me, the real question is not "what could go wrong," but the more technical one: can you "go against D2D's preferred option?"

"Preferred" suggests D2D has said something to the effect of, "We'd prefer it if you center images/illustrations, but if you want to wrap text around a left/right image, that's okay, too."

On the other hand, if D2D has said just "images are centred," it may well mean their software won't accept any alternative, and if you have a left/right image it may either reject the book, or centre the image and mess up your wrapped text.

My suggestion: Ask D2D. Explain what you want to do and why and find out if it's permissible and/or technologically possible. If the answer is negative, then you have to decide whether you still want to move forward with D2D publication.

Just my USD .02.

No idea. I only have one book at D2D with illustrations and they all were centered. I hope you'll be able to contact someone there and find out what needs to be done. In the past I've found them pretty helpful.
