Review The plot was really good, magic and old horror set in a Victorian English/Indian Empire parallel world. Compelling fantasy novel about two disparate people on a quest to save their world. More emotional than I was expecting and long enough to be world building.

Review:
This book has been on my TBR forever so i think I was expecting a lot when i finally got down to reading it. At first i wasn't all that blown away but pushed through as I needed to read it for a couple of challenges however I started to enjoy it more as I got further in. As a grave witch, Alex Craft makes her living raising shades for people to answer questions, solve mysteries, assisting police. I liked the premise of the book but I struggled a little with the world building and the way and order some the information came to us as it almost felt like we were playing catch up for a good portion of the book. I enjoyed it the second half more than the first and wasn't completely sure whether i would continue on with the series but now I think i may give book 2 a try. Not quite as good as I was expecting but still an overall entertaining read

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Poor Trey has had it rough and most of that has been heaped on himself through his own doing. Now he's been shot at and seen a dead body and even his own sister doesn't believe him. He's gone down too many drug binges for people to believe he's telling the truth now. Kuro has been intrigued by the hot guy who sits at his ramen bar and eats his food, but trying to have a normal life after the one he's lead isn't that easy. Taking a shot at the guys chasing Trey is the easy part.
I liked watching these two dance around each other and learn to trust someone new. Kuro's had quite the adventurous life and he totally came across as the alpha badass super spy, but yet he's so sweet with his cat and his patience with Trey. This was a fun intro books and I really want to know more about what's going to happen next. Feels like there are plans a-brewin'.

Ok so reading this book really makes me want to eat some baked goods right now. So yummy! Marcus and Gregory were very sweet. Of course it's a little quick of an instalove type relationship for my taste, but I did like them as a couple. For once the HIV status of the character didn't stand out as a bother to me. Marcus handled Gregory's status smoothly, but I think part of his acceptance came because he'd already been with someone with a positive status. But altogether this was a double dose of sweetness, both in the relationship and the baked goods.

review: original review This book had plenty of opportunities for misunderstanding as you have two extremely opposite men falling in love. there were time I wanted to lock the two together just so they had to work together and compromise. neither of them would go beyond their defense mechanism and that they ever fell in love and then got it to work was a major miracle.
I rated it five star back then (Jan 2014). How I have changed since then, what I thought charming then I found frustrating now. still a mostly well written book. the review didn't change the basic points I made.

This is my first book from this series and I probably would have enjoyed it more had I read them in order but it wasn't completely necessary. It was just okay for me. I liked the story but didn't feel anything for these two one way or the other. The sex was wonderful but the rest was just something to pass time. Not bad but not great.

Review:
I have mixed feelings about this read. While I did enjoy the characters and mostly liked the mystery, I did find parts of the story a little far fetched in the the way the played out. As this was more with the investigative parts rather than than the magic parts of the story, this effective pulled me out of the story and flow. Thankfully I mostly read this series for the characters so can Usually overlook small issues I have with the plot line. Also I listened to the second half of the book and was thrown off briefly when I realised that the narrator also narrated all the Jayne Frost series by Kristen Painter(of which I listened to most on audio) so it took me a moment to readjust her characterisations to new and different characters but once I had, it wasn’t to bad as I do like her narration style so was able to enjoy the second half of the book. Over all an entertaining read and a series I will be continuing on with

Caring For Little Ollie by Izaia Winter
Pages: 266
Read: 11/4/19
Rating: ★★★
I have read quite a few "daddy" books lately (don't judge me!) and I must say that this one, while good, did make me a little uncomfortable in places. Ollie liked to be in his little space most of the time so sexy times with a little.....not really my thing. Diapers, binkies, baby talk, sippy cups are all good with me but the sexy stuff, not so much. That's just my opinion and if that doesn't bother you, you'll probably love this book. Very sweet.
