What Alice Forgot
Standalone
Read 10/2/19
Rating: ★★★★
Review: Alice Love falls and hits her head during spin class. When she regains consciousness, she can't remember the last 10 years of her life. She believes she is a 29-year-old pregnant newlywed, when actually she is a 39-year-old soon-to-be-divorced mom with 3 kids. This was a fast, funny read by one of my favorite authors.

Montana Sky by Nora Roberts
Stand alone
Read: 10/1/19
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I thought this book was great! While not always likable, I thought the characters felt real. Some of the romance felt a little contrived but the mystery kept me guessing until the reveal.

Review:
This book is very marmite, you like it or you hate it. I think we had a 50/50 split at book club. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in C.E. 79 is told from the eyes of four characters. An engineer, a young girl, a corrupt business man and a scientist. I enjoyed reading each of their points of view and their attempt at understand what was happening or complete denial that something was very wrong.

Review:
Invisible cities is basically a fictional guide to Venice, according to a traveller Marco Polo, who describes this city to the Emperor Khan. Although I have visited Venice last year, it was not obvious for me to understand that he was describing it. Until at the end when can ask him to talk about Venice. I think I need to read it once more to appreciate the description bye Calvino.

Review: This was my first book by Kristin Hannah. I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoy historical fiction and I was pleasantly surprised how good this book was. I enjoyed learning about Anya's life before becoming a mother and wife. I will be reading more of her books.

I rolled but we can't roll yet. :-(
I deleted it and will roll again if Sarah gets her review in by midnight.

Book: The Tyrant's Tomb by Rick Riordan
Read: 10.4.19
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
I don't want to give too much away, because this is pretty far into a series, and involves characters in other series. However, I will say that I am continually surprised at how much I really enjoy Rick Riordan's books, and that I am so glad I got to read this one as soon as it came out!! Highly recommend reading any of his series!

Review:
While the beginning of this book really captured my attention and made me excited to read it, I feel like the execution left a little to be desired. I think there's a lot of hype around this book. There are definitely elements that are unique, but overall it was just okay to me.

Review: This is an excellent book!!! It is helpful but not absolutely necessary to read The Handmaid's Tale first (although I would definitely recommend it). The story unfolds through the eyes of three witnesses: an Aunt, a young woman in Gilead, and a young woman in Canada. The author does a fabulous job of explaining the outcome through these three points of view.

I love this author and this book was entertaining but a little depressing. I loved the story and will read on with the series. The depressing part was the adult me wishes this was printed 25 years ago for teenage me.

Title: Four to Score by Janet Evanovich

Review: I love a book that keeps my interest and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series has done that. Same challenges just a different person to apprehend. This time she needs to catch Maxine Nowicki, to get that wonderful paycheck so she can live again. Who would have thought being a bounty hunter would still mean living paycheck to paycheck?!?

Review: I remember when The Tiger's Wife came out and everyone raved about how great it was. I read it and was unimpressed, but when Tea Obrecht's new book was published to rave reviews I decided to give her another try. I'm glad I did. This is a beautifully written story, two stories actually. Nora Lark lives on a parched Arizona homestead. Her story involves two missing sons and a husband who has gone out to find water but is days late returning. The other story is of Lurie, an outlaw whose best friend is his camel, Burke. He can see ghosts and is often haunted by their "wantings." Lurie tells his story to Burke, and how they intersect with Nora eventually is surprising. This is a book I will be thinking about for many days to come.

The Code of the Woosters
by P.G. Wodehouse
How it fits: Jeeves #7

Finished:12/10/2019
Rating: ★★★
Review:
This is my first read of Wodehouse. The Code of the Woosters is among the most widely read Jeeves novels, and I almosot loved it. But the problem is the subtle British comedies are a bit far fetched for me. A careful read of this series is required due to the narrative complexity of Wodehouse.

Enjoy the week!

I really enjoyed this book. I have loved all of the books in this series, and this was no exception. I was very aware when reading this one that i wouldn't have understood a lot of the story if i hadn't read the rest of the series.
