I read a book that I thought was called Through the Eye. It was a book about what I will call a waiting room for souls before they were "born". The souls got to see a persons life before they were born and were able to choose the life that they wanted to experience. Does anyone remember a book like this?

It was 7th grade so that would have been about 1977?
I would think it was fiction maybe spiritual?
