Ms. Gentekos (tgentekoskhs) | 10 comments Are the characters realistic (do they seem like they could be real people)? Why or why not?

You must include:
- title and author
- a direct quotation the supports your answer
- an explanation of how/why your quote supports your answer

David Carbajal | 10 comments Fall Out Todd Strasser "It's summer of 1962, and Scott and his friends spend their days playing baseball and thinking about girls. But the threat of nuclear war looms over everything they do, and they are haunted by the idea that they could all be dead tomorrow." The quote supports my answer because a nuclear war could really happen anytime and thats there fear. Our fear could be being attacked by aliens.

Ana Corona | 10 comments The Infernal Devices Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.
The characters in this series are not realistic because they live in a secret world apart from humans killing demons, they called themselves shadow hunters. This is show by " Will had dropped his own blade diving for his sister; it was several feet away. He leaped to the side, avoiding the creature's jaws by inches, and then Jem was there, sword-cane in hand.

message 4: by Natalia (new)

Natalia A | 10 comments In True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolff LaVaughn is a realistic character because she falls in love with her old friend Jody. In the book LaVaughn says, "He is suddenly beautiful... My chest is so full of heart beats it jolts my thinking. Somewhere he was getting to be a perfect, handsome person...". This shows how LaVaughn felt about Jody. She was showing she liked him. This can happen in real life to anyone. That is why LaVaughn is a realistic character.

Alejandro | 9 comments Katniss from Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins can be a realistic person in the real world but the story events are not. This happened in the story when gale told her something, ''I never want to have kids,'' and katniss says, ''I might if i didn't live here.,'' I think she can be realistic in the real world because she can be a mother and have a boyfriend or a husband to take care of. She is already taking care of his sister and mom.

message 6: by Jordanp56 (new)

Jordanp56 | 9 comments In "Monster" by Walter Dean Myers Steve Harmon can be realistic because when he is in prison/jail he acts like a real person because he doesn't act like its just a game. in the book Steve said "the best time to cry is at night when the lights are out and someone is being beat up and screaming for help." I think he is a real person because any normal person wouldn't act like a prison/jail would be a play ground or a game. He actually acts like its a prison where people get beat up and hit. when he sees a person get beat up, he inst like "whats the big deal, it happens everyday." Monster

message 7: by Breannah (new)

Breannah | 9 comments In "The Bully" by Blueford High can be realistic because the boy moved from his home town and moved schools and there was this kid that bullyed him everyday. In the book the teacher Mr.Mitchell saw that the kid was being bullyed and he gave him the book hatchet and the kid said "how is this gonna help with what im going through" I picked this quote because kids get bullyed everyday.

Luis sanchez | 10 comments beautiful darkness by Kami Garcia
the characters are fake not realistic because its fantasy casters. This is shown in the book by, "light and dark casters with unique and powerful gifts were locked in eternal struggle" this book is pure fantasy

message 9: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Kane (RayKane) | 1 comments My book is the Great Train Robbery. The character are realistic because they are real people. This is shown because on the front cover it says "TRUE:CRIME".

message 10: by Lisbet (new)

Lisbet D | 8 comments Cracked by K.M Walton
Yes, the two main characters do seem realistic because bullying or suicide can happen in real life. Bull (one of the 2 main characters) bullies Victor (the other main character) and in the end they both try to kill themselves, because they both have something going on at home, and stuff like that can happen in real life.

message 11: by Antonio (new)

Antonio M | 7 comments Yes this book could be real. Many schools have problems with gangs but none of them know it. In the book it says "This is a problem in many schools but ours is the worst" This is saying that it could happen in any school.

The book that im reading is fantasy and it shows in the first pages by what the characters do and say.

message 13: by Juan (new)

Juan A. | 2 comments Yes, I think the characters in "Black and White" by: Paul Volponi are real. The main characters are Marcus and Eddie, they are best friends. Marcus is Black and Eddie is white. This story is about a racial issue between them, but they are best friends. I said the characters are real because racism is something that still happens today. In my opinion, like in the book; people should be able to rise above each others differences and unite as one. I mean, we are all human beings that are different in our own way.

Moises Almanza | 9 comments The giver by lois lowry
Yes i think jona can be a real person because the fact that she wants to stop his dad from killing kid and helping them out makes me think that jonas could be real."when jonas releazes that his dad kills the kids that he releases" she wants to stop that.

message 15: by Dylan (last edited Oct 16, 2014 11:32AM) (new)

Dylan (ChungLee) | 8 comments The characters in A Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket, seam very realistic because they all have humanly qualities such as cloths, hair, teeth, ect. I think they could be real especially with their situation, the fact that they have to experience decieving ways is a real experience in many lives. Although i think the kids could be real, I don't believe that Count Olaf could be real; he's too surreal in some ways, like his body structure. Also the book takes place now but when do you ever hear of a Count these days. When clause says "I've found out your elaborate plan to steal the Baldalaire Fortune." it means he is goin to put in his all to stop Count Olaf from getting his hands on the baldalaire Fortune.

message 16: by Eduardo (new)

Eduardo Simon | 5 comments Title: The boys from little mexico
Author: Steve Wilson
The characters in the book are realistic because they are soccer players and immigrants and the team they are trying to go in doesnt let them be in it because they are immigrants. In the book it says "Stupid mexicans, go home, go back to mexico." that shows that the players hate them so it makes it harder for them to play. Its also racist so that is why they are realistc.

Adrian Almanza | 10 comments Gym Candy by Carl Deuker

''touchdown mick johnson ''he yelled.''your first touchdown!''
This supports how he wants to play football and how hard is trying his hardest in his favorite sport. This support most of what the book is about and to not make mistakes like his father.

message 18: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Navarro | 10 comments My Side by Norah McClintock
Book: My Side.
Author: Norah McClintock.
The characters could be real because there's about bullying, and its very popular today in every high school, and months ago, the police could not do anything about it; actually bullying its stoping but sadly it still happen in a lot of schools.

Luis F | 10 comments Homeboyz by Alan Lawrence
"a prison guard tossed Teddy an orange jumpsuit and a pair of laceless canvas shoes with laces-it helped cut down on the suicide rate." this shows that Teddy could be a real person. Because some people go to jail and they recieve the jumpsuit's for the bad people.

message 20: by Odalyss (new)

Odalyss | 4 comments "Heaven Changes Everything" By Todd Burpo and Sonja Burpo
page.83[The nurse]"But seeing your boy the way he is today, this is a miracle. There has to be a God,because this is a miracle." What this quote is trying to say is that well at this part of the book the nurse and the doctor said that Colton wasn't suppose to live there were no chances of him living. So that's why the nurse is saying that its a miracle because he wasn't suppose to live.

"once you know something, you cant unknown them. its a burden that can never be given away" -Page 76. Yeah i think they do seem like real people because when someone knows a secret they keep the secret for another person.
