KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Good morning all! Back to work for me today. Unfortunately I didn't get to do very much reading yesterday. A spontaneous trip to the zoo with some good friends came about yesterday morning and I couldn't turn it down! I'm around 30-40% done with Golden's Quest and on disc #4 of Mortal Fear. I'm debating on going ahead and rolling again and trying to find an audiobook to start listening to at work today. I have a lot of printing and putting into binders to do today and that is perfect audiobook work! Lol

Annette Olsen | 205 comments Good Morning Team! Just checking in! I finished Slaughterhouse-Five for task 25. I don't see a reporting only thread for us, but then navigating on my phone I don't see a lot of things. :(

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments There is one. I would link but i am on my phone as well. :)

message 254: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments I will probably roll today as i am 80% done with my audiobook. I had simple task to do this am so i could listen. Now i am translating/rewriting a document so no more audio for me.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I went ahead and rolled again. I was on 35 and rolled 34 which puts me on #29, a young adult book. I have lots of those on my TBR so I should have plenty to choose from.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Okay, I'm going to read Angelfall for my third roll.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'm doing so well, I rolled for a 5th book and got a 2. That landed me on: 37 = Saint Bernard (Dog-opoly) – What do you think of when you see a Saint Bernard? The little keg of rum that should be tied around it’s neck? Then this book’s for you. Read a book set in a snowy area, where you wish you were in a lodge with a good book and some rum toddies.

I'm going to read The Shuddering which is set in a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado. I'm thinking that sounds nice with a warm fire, cozy blanket, and a nice rum toddy! (Of course, this is a horror book, so my nice dream holiday will turn into a nightmare!)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments ahhhhhhhhhh! Not good. I rolled again as I am almost done with my audiobook. Got 20, which takes me from 12 to 32.
A sport book.... I have no idea. This one is no fun. If someone wants to trade I am all for it. :)

Oh, Esther, that sucks. While searching I found some romances with athletes. Would you read a romance like Taking Shots? The male is a hockey pro.

I don't know... that one is tough. I'm not a sports fan... or much of a romance fan, either.

message 265: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments @ Esther: Susan Elizabeth Phillips has some romance books that feature athletes/sports teams if you like romance books. I read It Had to Be You last year I think. It was an alright book. Very dated (early 1990's) and kinda cheesy, but still a decent read.

My other suggestion would be troll through the other teams' reads and see if anyone is reading a sports book that catches your eye. I know I saw someone getting permission for reading a book featuring roller derbies and that might be interesting.

message 266: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments The challenge will be to find an audiobook available at our national library. I am somewhat limited.

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments @ Esther - I can help you out.
I just rolled my 4th roll: 6 + 14 = 20 which is a book of your choice

I have a YA book on my Kindle library GAME, an American Novel by Phil Truman - about a high school football team and coming of age, etc etc. it would satisfy the sports requirement

Want to switch?

Anything for a teammate.

I was holding off rolling a fourth time just in case someone needed help - since I have access to a lot of book sources and some of our teammates are not so fortunate.

When Esther hit the wall on the sports one, I decided to roll and see what came up. Could not believe it was "a book of choice". Hopefully that helps Esther.

message 272: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Really Helen, you save me a lot of time. I owe you one. Library should have a "task" search. Sport only gave me biography of people I do not know. I really own you one.

85% of my audio. I had kept light tasks for today but I ended up with document to revised/write/translate. Should be able to finish it riding home and cocking supper. Then study and read.
TTYL
Go team!

Esther (estame) Hi, wonderful Topplers. I've rolled Go to Jail - can someone pick a square for me, please!

message 276: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Hi EstaAmeliaR! Welcome to our team. Which number space did you land on? If it was 30 = Go To Jail, then you need to choose another team and they will pick which space to send you to. Hopefully, they will be nice and pick an easy task for you!

message 277: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Hey team! My eyes are getting blurry from reading all day long. I just took a 5-hour energy drink to try to revive myself. It's 7pm here and I want to read at least 3 more hours before calling it a night.

Please send me some wake-up vibes!

message 278: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments If you are reading an audiobook, pop your earbuds in and take a walk. The air is pretty brisk tonight. That should perk you up.

Sometimes gophering is the most fun of a challenge - unless you are under time constraints - then it is frustrating. Glad I could help you out and save you some time.

Esther (estame) I am not from this team, I'm from Team 3, Debra....I popped over to ask one of this team to give me a number :)

Anyone want to give me a task?

message 282: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I can't find out how points are allotted for our completed tasks. Do we get 10 points for every task we complete; i.e., book read? If so, shouldn't we have more points, since 8 books have been reported as read? I'm soooo confused! That's what I get for not keeping up with the threads!

It looks like your total post was updated 6 hours ago - and the last two books have been reported after that, so that's where the discrepancy lies.

Oups. I hear ya. I almost never do either. On the other hand, they are usually quick reads.

There are lots of mysteries with sports settings. I'm reading two sports books, both by Felix Francis continuing Dick Francis' work. And there's Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series, plus a lot of cozy mysteries.

message 290: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Thanks Jmom - I think we have it worked out now. But good to know the Francis series is still alive and well. I also forgot about the Myron Bolivar series. Thanks for the reminders.

message 291: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Francis is the only sport related author I read. No title available for me.

I am sure i would have found something eventuaĺly but Helen save me hours of hunting. (Did i said how much i like her?)

I got everyone's vibes and managed to get through over half my book and stayed up a little past 10pm, which is good for me!

message 295: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I'm doing well with my book and just got past the 70% mark. If all continues to go well I may just add another book. I keep you updated.

message 296: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I was hoping to report that I had finished Golden's Quest last night, but I literally could not hold my eyes open to finish. I should've waited a little later to take my nightly meds and I could have finished up... I mean, I'm at 97%! So close! Unfortunately I take two medicines at night that both cause drowsiness and I am not powerful enough to override their effects. LOL. I'll finish it either on my lunch break today or when I get home tonight.

I should also finish Mortal Fear this evening on my commute home! I started listening to Angelfall a little at work yesterday and I think I'm going to both listen to and read it so it shouldn't take too long to finish. I might can even roll for a fourth book! :)

message 297: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I understand about the night-time meds KimeyDiann. I just put off taking mine until I'm ready to turn off the lights. Usually that is earlier than 10pm! lol

message 298: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I should be finished with my third book tonight or early tomorrow so I think I will roll for another book! Wish me luck!

message 299: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I rolled a 12. I believe that puts me on task #3... a book with an eccentric or "nutty" character. I'll begin my search now. :)

message 300: by Debra (last edited Oct 21, 2014 08:16AM) (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments That's a tough one, Annette. I ended up with Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass in one book. The Mad Hatter fits this task.
